What first alerted you to the fact you were pregnant. Was it the missing period, or did something else trigger the "hmmmmm, what if" feeling???

Fell asleep on the living room floor by 8pm without fail.

GreenPenguin · 08/08/2009 21:40

Oh - and MIL's insensitiveness made me cry instead of (the more usual) irritated

bluesnowfalcon · 09/08/2009 09:26

Lee1981 AF was six days late but I did ring GP before hand and was told that it is normal to go 2-3 months without AF after coming off the pill. They would only want to see me if it continued longer than that.

Hope all goes well for you

lee1981 · 09/08/2009 12:08

ErikaMaye · 09/08/2009 12:20

BOOBS!!! Ugh, mine killed... Lucky only for the first few weeks, but still. I thought I'd simply out grown my bra... 26 weeks now!

Oh, and craving pizza... drools

jumpyjan · 09/08/2009 12:36

DC1- sore boobs (almost straight away)
DC2- nausea & tiredness
Both - KFC cravings

bluesnowfalcon · 09/08/2009 14:29

lee1981 I had range of symptoms and was told that it was normal for coming off of the pill. Also told that syptoms are similar for pg and period but my symptons were about 10 days before AF so not sure what they were connected to - assume coming off pill?!

Hopw all goes well for you

lee1981 · 09/08/2009 16:02

Crazycatlady · 11/08/2009 13:42

Nothing at all before AF due. I wasn't expecting to be pregnant, but looking back here were the symptoms:

  • On day AF due, crampy back-achy period pain and tearful. Assumed AF was coming. Was EXACTLY the same.
  • Following day - tried to run on treadmill (normally not a problem at all) and could only manage 5 mins before coming off exhausted and tearful.
  • Day after that - couldn't eat a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. Tasted like poison to me, that's when I knew something was up!

'Normal' symptoms like nausea, tiredness etc didn't really kick in until 5/6 weeks.

Nose bleeds a few days after conception

andyourmama2 · 17/08/2009 14:22

It started at my SIL's wedding. I didn't get to finish a glass of wine in the whole night. I put it down to the wine being really bad
Then a few days later we were foraging for mushrooms with my husband, and I smelled them well before I could see them. Didnt feel like eating them later -your body seems to know to avoid risky food (?)
Days later I felt like a sandwich at 10 in the morning -not like me! The suspicion started creeping, and when I got revolted by the smell of coffee I decided it was time to pop into boots for a preggie test.
I had a thing with smells the whole pregnancy. Anything with a bit of a fragrance i.e. a lemon down to my spice rack, through certain cleaning products i.e. lavender scented fairy liquid, I found revolting.

lumpasmelly · 17/08/2009 15:21

Feeling a bit dizzy and having to go and pee more than usual....oh, and getting spots which I usually never get (well, not since my teens!!)

Poll32 · 06/03/2010 11:39

Sore boobs, fainting, nausea and one evening kept eating...

moominmarvellous · 06/03/2010 11:42

Boobs.

Sore boobs, both times.

Also bigger i.e. I have hold them when running up/down the stairs - this is not something I normally need to do!

lucylev · 07/03/2010 09:02

I felt awful one morning and was sick whilist in the bath!

toja555 · 08/03/2010 09:30

DC1 - much shorter and lighter than usual period made me to do the pregnancy test

DC2 - I had higher than usual body temperature since 1 week before i was due (I constantly felt a bit feverish with no other symptoms). Then I noticed that my boobs are a bit sore, but tried to ignore it. And then the period never came...

SkaterGrrrrl · 10/03/2010 11:25

I had a light period so didnt have the obvious sign.

Felt very mild nausea but was taking malaria tablets for a month so assumed they were causung the nausea. When my boobs started to hurt I thought, "Hmm, nausea AND sore boobs?" and did a test.

I was already 8 weeks by then!

shipsladyg · 10/03/2010 11:47

Wee smelling like a man's pee and extreme tiredness.

Took me another two weeks before I decided a test was worth it.

redbird79 · 11/03/2010 11:05

PMT, cramps and sore boobs in the run-up to when I should've come on my period- but didn't actually come on. Was supposed to be going to a party and thought "just in case..." and took a test- BFP. Told DH immediately and we had to lie that I was feeling a bit under the weather- hence why I was nursing one beer all night. Still got the nausea and weird taste in mouth a couple of weeks later- now six weeks pg- also feel really tired and run down. Bit emotional and crampy, actually had to take the day off work with a cold today! Did anyone else's GP act completely disinterested when you told them you're pregnant? I wasn't expecting cartwheels but he didn't even tell me about what not to eat, or that I should be taking folic acid, or not to go sky-diving or anything!

adnilleo · 31/07/2010 10:43

metalic taste in my mouth, strong sence of smell and morning sickness

Rocklover · 31/07/2010 11:29

With first dd it was random patches of horrible nausea and bad period pains. With this one, was mainly nausea again, although I wasn't entirely sure as I had the Norovirus just before conceiving, so thought it could be that hanging about.

Both times though, I had a "feeling" that something was going on.

booyhoo · 31/07/2010 11:32

with boths dses about a week after conception I became extremely clingy to exp. first time he just thought i was hormonal but escond time he twigged straight away what was up.

MrsFC · 31/07/2010 13:54

SOOO tired - it felt like I was walking through sludge...
