Hello everyone...

mermaid, hang in there, not long to go till you see the consultant now. I wouldn't take the baby aspirin without advice... my morning sickness also went AWOL for a day recently and has since come back; I'm told it can happen!

Looby, congrats on being over 23 weeks, that's wonderful! Herb, from what I remember about being pregnant with ds, the second trimester does feel pretty normal physically (though the mind is a different story)... Hope you get your scan sorted.

VJay, thinking of you and hoping you're doing well.

Fozzie78 · 05/01/2009 12:46

Hi everyone, im back from seeing my gp and have a scan booked for 12.20 on wednesday, i hate the waiting.

Hows vjay

valz · 05/01/2009 13:36

Hi Ladies

Glad to be reporting back today on a better note then my last post on 23rd dec, went for a scan that day and the doc saw a sac but no heartbeat so she said it may be too early and booked me in for another scan on 30 dec, second scan went great even heard the wee heartbeat which i couldnt believe, it made it so real, thankfully ive had no pains or bleeding since so fingers crossed all is well. according to measurements the doc reckoned i was 6+5 on 30dec, he could see a second sac but couldnt get a good enough position to detect a second heartbeat so i have to go back for another scan on 20th jan by then i'll be 9 weeks and he hopes to let me know if there is 1 or 2 babies, im praying that all is well and good and i get to week 12. morning sickness has well and truely arrived which i have read is a positive even though it sucks, i seem to have a turn in my stomach all day long right until i go to bed at night but i dont mind as long as its a good sign. I hope all is well with you all, this website is ace, only my husband knows about the pregnancy so it is great to be able to chat to other ladies in my position. Thanks

VillageMum · 05/01/2009 13:41

Valz, really glad you posted as I was wondering how you were doing after reading your last post before Xmas... so glad things are settling down and that you have had good news, and really hoping that more good news will come on the 20th.

daisyj · 05/01/2009 13:42

tsom at you consulting medical textbooks to see if baby could exit from belly button!

dan lol at your Christmas pudding, and at you being off work now. So, did you decide about your dissertation? I?m full of admiration that you?re even contemplating it. Did 15,000 words for my MA three years ago ? I won?t share the misery with you, but it was worth it in the end. I guess the only thing to do is break it down into, say, 5,000 words a week, and it kind of feels more manageable then. I wrote mine in five 3-day weekends, and that was bad enough?

herb - at your GP. That?s rubbish!

looby - yup, backache normal (well, it is for me, anyway, and comes and goes). Fanatastic you?re 23 weeks. Only a few more days and bubba will be viable. I found that a real landmark.

valz - so pleased it?s good news so far. Fingers crossed for you ? and for vjay and fozzie - scans today, I think??

mermaid - hang in there. There should be some kind of ?one day at a time? twelve steps for ladies pg after mc, I reckon

Pleased to report that first day back is not as dire as I thought it would be. It's almost... nice. Maybe cos I can keep telling myself that I only have two months and one week till I'm on maternity leave (and rather a lot to do to fill the time!).

cece · 05/01/2009 14:01

herb this might be useful. Look at page 52, where it tells you what to expect at each appointment.

ladyhelen2 · 05/01/2009 14:26

Hello ladies. Happy new year to you all.

I've been off line (ie not at work!) since 29th Dec so have just been catching up with all the news here.

Lots of new names too. Hello to you all. Hoping you will all be sticking around and knicker checking with the rest of us for the next 8 months or so!

Am now 23 weeks. So 17 to go. Can't believe it! Only 3 months left at work. The bump has expanded rapidly over the past 3 weeks. So it could be just the amount of mince pies and choc I have consumed. So am back to the pregnancy excercise class tonight. Have also invested in an ante natal excercise DVD with some very enthusiastic american bird. Have managed it twice in the last 4 weeks!

cornflakegirl · 05/01/2009 17:20

Hi everyone. ladyhelen pointed me in your direction. I'm currently 7wks after 3mc. I had a scan last Friday that showed a heartbeat, so I'm hopeful but anxious - which I guess is a common theme on this thread. I have a booking-in appointment for two weeks' time and I'm really not sure what to expect or request of my ante-natal care. I've got a DS, so I've done this all before - but it feels so different this time.

VJay · 05/01/2009 18:24

Hello, I've had no more brown discharge since friday, and am still feeling sick, so who knows?! I went to the doctors today and she has booked me in to see her again next tuesday for my booking-in appointment, but first she is going to do a pg test, just to make sure. It's a bit of a worry, but there's nowt I can do but wait.
Hello vm and fozzie how are you both?

Fozzie78 · 05/01/2009 18:33

ahhhh hi vjay ive been wondering how you are. Im glad your bleeding stopped.

I still have my brown discharge, very slight but still there. I also have my back ache back, it doesnt look too good. My doctor got me in for a scan for wednesday 12.20, so scared, I just hope and pray im not going thru that again.

VJay · 05/01/2009 18:37

Oh fozzie my fingers are crossed for you, please let me know how you get on xxx

Fozzie78 · 05/01/2009 18:37

Has anyone every ad this brown discharge for a number of days and been okay?

VJay · 05/01/2009 18:41

I had it with ds, then with last 2 mc's, and now again....who knows what to think!

VJay · 05/01/2009 18:41

That wasn't very helpful was it?

Fozzie78 · 05/01/2009 18:51

Yes its nie to know theres some good outcomes too im out ofmy mind worrying.
How long did it last tho?x

VillageMum · 05/01/2009 19:22

Hello cornflakegirl - that sounds really promising!

VJay, that's great news. Really glad to hear that your discharge has stopped. Just hang in there. I have my booking-in appointment on the 16th - doc didn't want to do it till I'd had the scan on Saturday. I'm feeling sick and am otherwise a weepy hormonal jelly, to be honest.

Fozzie, I will be thinking of you every moment during your scan - not long now.

cece thanks for that link to what to expect at the antenatal appointments! VERY useful.

hamish12 · 05/01/2009 19:31

I had brown stainign when I was 16 weeks with dd after 6 years of unexplained infertility after miscarriage (again with brown staining). As you can imagine I was a basket case. Two weeks bed rest and she came out as right as rain on her due date. I also bled through second pregnancy with ds from about eight to ten weeks, but again no major problems. You'd think I could relax about this one, but am out of my mind with worry about brown staining. Scan on Thursday which will tell me one way or the other. Thinking of you all.

Fozzie78 · 05/01/2009 19:46

Thanks villagemum

Wishing you luck for thursday hamish12

This thread is quite addictive isnt it??

dan39 · 05/01/2009 21:00

Hello just looking for sympathy - had to go to dentist today, she is a locum and was a bit crap/nervous and removed and replaced a filling b ut then went on about how if it doesn't work then I will have to have the tooth TAKEN OUT...

What was the point of the £46 filling then?

I don't WANNA HAVE A TOOTH OUT.

Boo.

franfoxy2003 · 05/01/2009 21:12

hey found out this morning im pregnant after 2 miscarriages last year, one at 12 weeks and one at 6 weeks, am very worried but happy too. not getting my hopes up yet. btw im 4 weeks 3 days! due 12th september!

LoobyLou36 · 05/01/2009 21:32

Welcome franfoxy.

I've found this thread so helpful with my worries and nerves, still a basket case but now 23+1 so getting better week by week.

ready2pop · 06/01/2009 10:24

Morning ladies and good luck to all having scans soon.

I just have a quick question. Does anyone know how early they can see a heartbeat on a scan?

I'm not sure of my dates as we conceived straight after my mc with no period in between so I need to go for an early scan.
I don't think I could bear it if there was no heartbeat though so want to wait until I am far enough gone that they will know for sure one way or the other.

I did one of those conception indicator digital test though and it says 3 weeks so I think I am probably about 5 weeks pg now. I seem to remember having my first scan with my DS when I was about 8 weeks and seeing heartbeat then so I think I better leave it 4 weeks or so to be on the safe side - just not sure I can live on tenterhooks for that long.

cornflakegirl · 06/01/2009 11:16

I just had a scan at 7 weeks and saw a clear heartbeat. The EPU would have done it a couple of days earlier, but the holidays got in the way. They said there was no point scanning at 5 weeks (when I first tried to get a scan). I got pregnant straight after a mc too, so I assume they built some leeway in for me ovulating a little later (although it turns out that I didn't).

valz · 06/01/2009 12:10

Hi Ready

readytopop I went for a scan before xmas and the doc could see a sac but no heartbeat, she reckoned i was 6 weeks at that stage, so she booked me in the following week for another scan and they could detect a heartbeat then the doc said the sac was measuring 6+5 that day, so i assume they can see from almost 7 weeks. i know for definate they can see at 9 though cuz the doc told me that. hope this helps.

fozzie this morning ive had some brown discharge, had a sore back last night too, im not even doing my job right cuz i keep thinking somethings going wrong with me. this sh*t is stressing me out! hope all s well with you, have u still got discharge? my next scan is on 20th jan so ive 2 weeks t wait, dunno how i'll stick it, they said if i have a any bleeding to call in before that,

discharge hardly counts as a bleed does it?

Fozzie78 · 06/01/2009 12:33

Hi valz, I've had brown discharge vry light since friday night, I had it with my last 2 MMC so im very nervous, lots of people have this and are fine but my past history says not with me. Im in for a scan tomorrow so not long to go altho time is going so slow. Im terrified of knowing and for it to be over again.

My last two MMC were at 7 weeks and im only 5 1/2 weeks pregnant now so i think i will be too early to detect anything on the scan so maybe its another wait for a week or so. Has anyone been this early and had anything detected? Heartbeat detection seems to be between 6 - 7 weeks and havent bled heavily enough for a normal mc.

Let me know how you get on, I hope everything is okay for you xxx
