hello ready to pop, remeber you from a previous AN thread, not sure which one, ive been a brief member of several now.
anyway! how you doing?
i saw the heartbeat at 7 weeks, nothing there at 6 weeks. so dont go to soon, it scared the hell outta me for no reason!

does anyone know how early u should feel movements with no.3? im sure i can feel something now and then, maybe im going mad!!

im nearly 13 weeks now, feeling positive about this baby finally. bought some babygrows yesterday to celebrate reaching 12 weeks finally!

i have loads of stuff i bought the other babies (b4 MC) do u think its macarbe to use them for this one or should i bin them?

Fozzie78 · 06/01/2009 14:40

Hi there, Im suprised they have booked me in so early when theres no chance of seeing anything unless they think they may be able to tell if its not developing at this stage, I guess tomorrow will be a waste of time then.... argh i hate waiting for possible bad news.

Id definitely use the stuff you bought nattyplus2andahalf. Kind of a remembrance thing if you know what I mean?

I've never got past the 7 week stage so Im not sure about feeling movement.
Glad you're doing well xx

VillageMum · 06/01/2009 14:50

dan, I hate going to the dentist too! I'm sure that filling will do its job for months to come - she was probably referring to the worst-case scenario years down the line... they tend to do that!

franfoxy congratulations and welcome!

hamish good luck on Thursday; let us know how you get on?

ready2pop, I remember reading somewhere that you can expect to see a heartbeat in the sixth week, and week 7 is definitely safe. I've avoided going in week 6 in case they don't see anything and tell me to come back later, which I would NOT cope with. I'll be 7+2 on the 10th when I have my scan and was told that they would be able to see a heart by then if there was one.

val, could that brown discharge be old blood only coming down now? Could you ring someone for reassurance?

lastboxoftampons · 06/01/2009 15:00

Hello all
Haven't visited here in a while, but thought I'd pop in! Hope you all had lovely holidays!

Dan I just had ROOT CANAL and they said the same thing! and it turns out, £300 later and now that it's done, there's not enough tooth structure for them to cap it, so I'm sure it's going to have to be pulled in the end anyway! GRRRRRR!!!!!

So sorry for those of you who are having spotting. Fingers crossed for good scans for you.

ready2pop We saw a heartbeat on a scan at 6+3 last time around (although my dates suggested I was slightly further along than that). Unfortunately, the LO didn't make it, so this time around I waited until 8 weeks to go in for a reassurance scan. For a dating scan, they can look at the sac, its measurement, its placement, etc and know how far along you are.

valz · 06/01/2009 15:06

Hi villagemum

it could possibly be old blood i suppose, the time i was bleeding before xmas, it was red and when the doc examined me she said my cervix was closed and it wasnt new blood either. im just a bit fed up today knowing how long i have to wait to the next scan and i feel sick all the time, trying to eat small snacks every few hours and have a pack of ginger bickies in me drawer. im totally paranoid ebout every wee niggle i get, cannot settle. do you know is it bad when ur feeling sick but cant throw up to force yourself to be sick, cuz sometimes thats the only way i can get my stomach to settle?

VillageMum · 06/01/2009 15:32

Val, I don't think you should force yourself to be sick, as that will only upset your body's electrolyte balance and the knock-on effect will be worse. I feel just the same as you, nauseous all day but without throwing up. We are actually lucky as it means our beans are getting the nutrients they need, even though we're feeling awful... a pg book I have suggests that you could try taking 50-100mg of vitamin B6 to relieve sickness. Sorry it's so bad, thinking of you.

mermaidspurse · 06/01/2009 16:31

vm I just love it when you get your white coat and test tubes out! electrolyte balance- brill wish I had been armed with that this morning at the Drs. He was very upbeat reckons because I have ds its natures unlucky throw of the dice and reckons 4th time in a row wont happen.... Not feeling at all sick and my tummy is all puffed up. This happened in all 3 of my mc and I am worried. It is awful how mc turns you into a hypercondriac, I have got no work done at all. The midwife is going to ring me earlier than normal and I do feel there is more of a safetly blanket this time.
valz dont make yourself sick sweetie, just keep munching on ginger biccys, I hope the spotting stops.
fozzie good luck and fingers crossed.
cornflakegirl congrats on your scan, I will be soooo relieved when I have one.
hi franfoxy and congrats too, it is scary, one day at a time. Now we all have to have a nice, cosy eveing in watching rubbish on the tele and polishing off the last of the chocolates.

VillageMum · 06/01/2009 17:12

mermaid, you could always sneak in a quick reference to electrolytes when the midwife calls... Glad you have an upbeat GP! I think it does help in some small way when they're positive and reassuring; hell, any old form of reassurance would do me right now! x

cornflakegirl · 06/01/2009 17:18

valz - I hate that too - not quite sick enough to throw up, so it just hangs around all day. I can't concentrate properly at work and poor DH is feeling neglected. I feel really bad whinging though, given that it's clearly fairly mild, and is a positive sign about the pregnancy. Grrr!

VillageMum · 06/01/2009 17:31

cornflakegirl, know what you mean, it's awful but also reassuring. When I was pg with ds (now 7) I remember that the all-day nausea began in week 6, peaked in week 9, and dwindled by week 12, so I'm hoping that this will follow a similar pattern AND that it means that bean is going to be OK!

VJay · 06/01/2009 18:15

vm is it a good sign to feel so sick then? I wasn't like this with my last 2 that ended in mc, so maybe I'll be ok....I'm really clutching at straws here

ready2pop · 06/01/2009 20:30

Natty - thanks, I recognise your name too. Congrats on making it past 12 weeks and I'd definitely use the baby grows rather than chucking them.

Valz - I hope the spotting stops soon. My best friend had brown spotting for the first 15 weeks of her pg and has a lovely bouncing girl.

Fozzie - good luck with your scan. Will wait to hear how it went. I am going to leave it 4 weeks before going (you just have to trun up and wait at my local hopsital) - that way I will be at least 8 weeks.

Mermaid - so true about being a hypchondriac. One of my friend's little ones has just been diagnosed with slapped cheek and I've just looked it up on NHS direct and see that it can cause mc in early pregnancy so am now really panicking. Why do I bother to look - I'm just torturing myself.

Fozzie78 · 06/01/2009 21:05

Thanks will let you know, Im so scared and cry even thinking about it so im gonna be no good tomorrow, miscarriages are so cruel and cold. xxx

maz32 · 06/01/2009 21:25

hi everyone,

cornflakegirl · 07/01/2009 09:23

Fozzie - thinking of you - hope today goes well.

VJay - I think the "good sign" is just because morning sickness is your body reacting to the pregnancy hormones, so it indicates that they're still in your system - so hopefully still being produced by the baby. Just one of those things we hang on to!

Diji · 07/01/2009 09:37

Hi Everyone,

I am new to mumsnet.
Please could i just have a bit of reassurance / tell me i'm being paranoid....
I am 16 weeks with my second baby.
My first was really active and started feeling movement at 14 weeks.
This time round, i started feeling movements at around 12 weeks. But now i have not felt any movement in the last 28hrs. i think i felt something last night, but i am not sure...
I am so paranoid cos it's taken us 3 years and 4 mc later to finally fall pregnant.
I phoned my ob/gyn and she said not to worry some babies are not as active as others, but if still no movement by tomorrow i must go see her....
please will someone else tell me i am being completely irrational and hormonally paranoid. maybe i don't feel anything cos i am too busy working and running around... Oh I don't know....hmm

VillageMum · 07/01/2009 12:06

VJay, I'd take ms as a good sign. It's as cornflakegirl says: the sickness is supposed to indicate that hormone production is going well and that the pg is stable and thriving (though it's not a hard and fast thing, sadly.) For me ms seems to be part of a viable pregnancy; I had it with ds and none at all in this last pg which miscarried. But maybe I'm also clutching at straws... I know I'd be worried if it wasn't there, though!

Fozzie, thinking of you so much!

Diji, there can be 'quiet' days, and it is totally possible to get distracted and miss out on the movements, so try not to worry - but go back to your ob/gyn tomorrow in any case so that she can reassure yoou by listening to the hb.

cornflakegirl · 07/01/2009 12:20

Don't want to stress out anyone who hasn't got ms though - with DS I only had very mild nausea, and that was a problem-free pregnancy.

Diji - you know you're not being irrational. Hope you feel the movements again soon.

ladyhelen2 · 07/01/2009 12:20

Hi Diji ,remember you are 16 weeks. Lots of women don't feel anything until a bit later so don't panic too much but sounds like you have done the right thing. Can't hurt to have it checked out and I completely understand, as do we all on here, how paranoid someone who has suffered a mc can be.

Hi cornflakegirl {waves} glad you made it over here.

VillageMum · 07/01/2009 12:56

Just wanted to second what cornflakegirl said about ms (again!) The consultant who saw me through my recent mc did a lot of tut-tutting at my theories and insisted that not having bad ms is NO indicator of a failing pregnancy - it all depends on the individual woman and babe. So please don't worry, anyone reading this, if it's different for you!

Fozzie78 · 07/01/2009 13:58

Hi everyone, I am back from my scan, I got to see sac which they said is normal and correct size for the dates 5 1/2 weeks. The nurse and sonographer warned me before the scan that it was highly unlikely babe would be seen as im far too early.I go back two weeks today for next scan. They were very positive tho and said everything is as it should be and they see many women with brown discharge and everything being fine. I feel quite re-assured by them but still scared of the waiting and the scan itself. I still also have the discharge which they advised some women have this on and off throughout.

VJay · 07/01/2009 13:59

Hi fozzie I've been sat here waiting for you, I'm so pleased everything was OK for you today xxxxxxxxx

Fozzie78 · 07/01/2009 14:01

Ah thanks its a relief getting some positive news, I expected the worst. How are you today vjay?

Diji · 07/01/2009 14:17

Thank you so much to everyone's comments.
I really appreciate it, and definitly feel a lot better.

VJay · 07/01/2009 14:17

I'm ok thanks, just feeling very sick all the time, but I'm looking on it as a good sign.
