Pregnancy

Talk about every stage of pregnancy, from early symptoms to preparing for birth.

Strong BHs, suddenly loads of colostum appearing, backache and I've booked my shopping to be delivered on Thursday, my due date. Do you think I've tempted fate enough?

Spotles house here too and no way am I off into the garden!

May try nip stim, but it hurts!

Expat when they scanned me to see if he was breech, I insisted they check him for size as well at the same time

Yes I've been induced both times too. Never known any different so would be interesting to compare a "normal" start to labour

"It really doesn't have to be as bad as everyone makes out" Sorry, just realised that sounded like I was saying they were all going OTT, I meant, it doesn't have to be as bad as some people find it.

expatinscotland · 27/10/2008 17:09

i have a low threshold for pain, Natalie. it gives me panic attacks.

i got to hospital too late for anything with DD2 and i still have nightmares and flashbacks to the pain from that.

if i have to have induction, i'm going to go in barking for my epidural from the start.

tomorrow i'm seeing the midwife and i want his size assessed.

sorkycake · 27/10/2008 17:11

Sweep your cervix. Worked for me first time
I'd rather cut my ears off than be induced again.

expatinscotland · 27/10/2008 17:14

i'd rather cut off mine than be pregnant for a day longer than 12 days overdue.

MamaG · 27/10/2008 17:15

Go on then, how do you sweep your cervix?

I have low pain threshold too expat - when i had DD, my DH said to MW "I'm a bit worried about her, she doesn't do pain" and the MW hissed at him "and how many babies have YOU had? She's doing very well" - dh was as he wasn't criticising me! lol at the memory of his face.

Put your best/sexiest/favourite knickers on! You'll have your show and your waters will rupture - I guarantee!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 27/10/2008 17:16

I'd book the nice doctor with the needle at the same time as the horrible MW with her hook then. I can still remember through the pethidine induced haze screaming for an epidural only to be told he was too busy GRRRR!

expatinscotland · 27/10/2008 17:17

i've had a sweep, with DD1.

it hurt like almighty hell.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 27/10/2008 17:18

MamaG, you'll have to search my labour threads for the instructions, or grab Lulu when she comes in. Something about walking your fingers up the back wall of the vagina till you find the cervix and then poke about for a bit.

....maybe wait for Lulu!!

sorkycake · 27/10/2008 17:18

Fair point expat.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 27/10/2008 17:24

I am off to do DS2's dinner, will look out for the birth announcments tomorrow!

G'night all xxx

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 27/10/2008 17:30

With DD the washing machine broke down and the repair man turned up 4 hours after I gave birth (at home) so yes you are probably tempting fate

Jojay · 27/10/2008 17:31

Hiya all those waiting for babies - I'm due on Friday but I had a show last night and I've had strong twinges all afternoon. They're not very frequent yet but they're getting more painful - so maybe I'll have a baby by tomorrow!! Hope so - I went 6 days over with DS1 and it was the most tedious 6 days of my life....

Jojay · 27/10/2008 17:32

And I've tempted fate by having a new dishwasher delivered on Thursday. Is that good enough?

mum2jakeyroo · 27/10/2008 17:46

mamag - I had 2 inductions and a normal start to labour with ds3. if mw tells you not to come in as you are talking thru contractions ignore her and go in anyway.

TooTIfYouAreScared · 27/10/2008 17:49

Woohoo MamaG!!!! Don't forget to eat lots of fruit and veg throughout labour [hardcore]

MamaG · 27/10/2008 19:05

ooh Jojay you're due same day as expat

STill got backache, still got BH, no more colostum. THink I was kidding myself

VeniVidiVickiQV · 27/10/2008 19:07

you need to make lots of plans to do stuff before your due date. Arrange to meet people, organise deliveries of stuff. Sods law guarantees a result =

expatinscotland · 27/10/2008 19:07

i've completely resigned myself so now i don't bother looking for signs anymore.

i just keep thinking, 'only another fortnight.'

MamaG · 27/10/2008 19:11

Right, so this week:-

Tuesday = soft play hell with DC and mate
Wednesday = Mum and sister coming up for day
Thursday (due date) = ASDA delivery
Friday = waiting for parcel for DH

Will consider a DIY fanjo-twiddle maybe friday night. Will be having a "proper" one a week on Thursday if nothing.

MamaG · 27/10/2008 19:12

expat you are being v sensible. I wouldn't mind, I've gone overdue with both others and should know better than to excitedly think "ooh!" everytime I get a bit of trapped wind! I'm a cock. I should resign myself to mid November too

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 27/10/2008 19:13

there's no way i'm sticking my fingers up my yin yang.

yeah, i'll wait till the midwife does that next week at 40+2.

but i'm in for the long haul.
