Hello ladies, may I join you? I got a BFP on Tuesday even though AF is not due till tomorrow. I really wish I had not tested so early as I am now driving myself mad with repeat tests, comparing lines etc. Did my free CB test today and it said 1-2 wks when i was convinced I had ov'ed earlier in the cycle so now am sure this one will go wrong ...

Anyway, my history is a cp in March and an mc at 9 weeks in July. The cp was all over by 5 wks, not traumatic physically but an emotional time as it was unplanned and we were just getting excited! With the mc I had bleeding at 5+5 but didn't mc till 9 wks although it didn't develop past 5+5. So i had a few horrid limbo weeks of scans etc ending in mc when i was away from home which was grim.

Soooo, this time round I am not excited at all, just doom laden and sure things will go wrong again. DH is the same.
Please give me a slap and tell me this is normal! I am in such a state already and don't know how I will get to 12 weeks!

dan39 · 23/10/2008 13:00

Welcome roquefort you are in good company!! Its a scary time and the weeks - days - will seem forever! But there are lots of people on here for whom it worked!! I know waht you mean about finding out early and it being threrfore longer... Me and DH tried to just ignore it when we got our BFP cos we had miscarried just the previous month - like you a mmc, so it was so hard to trust anything my body was doing. We didn't even work out the due date!

Are ytou going to book in with the doc etc or are you going to leave it a bit? Either way makes sense - depends how nice you think your GP might be! Any other dc's?

roquefortlover · 23/10/2008 13:13

Thanks for the lovely welcome dan - it is good to be "with" people who understand! Sorry about your mc and glad it's going better this time.

I think i am going to wait till I am about 6 wks to see the docs, they are nice there but I just want to try and forget about it till then and if I have had no bleeding will feel more confident. I'm going to try and get an early scan at the EPU and will go private if not. Have horrid memories of EPU though!

I have 3 dcs already so in a way i feel i am being greedy/tempting fate by going for number 4 esp. as we had def. decided against it before the unplanned BFP in Feb...I know that isn't logical but then i don't feel logial atm!

SparkyMalarky · 23/10/2008 14:00

Dan - hope you and the bump are getting some prescribed rest! All sounds pretty scary, but glad you're both ok.

Roquefort hello definitely a great place to hang out and share all your worries.

I'm driving myself mad at the moment - am 10+6 today and starting to feel better so convinced that it's all going wrong. I had a MMC too (although started to m/c at home before the ERPC) and am terrified that when I have my scan in 2 weeks I'm going to find out that the baby died after my last scan aaargh....

dan39 · 23/10/2008 15:55

Sparky its such a pain isn't it - to be so scared by feeling better! But its only natural given your experiences. The two years weeks til your scan will be forever... If its any consolation I was really sick until the mmc and beyond, whereas this time I just had dizziness. And if you look at various stories on here, sickness is really random so its not always a good indicator that things are good or bad with the lo. Only time will tell, unfortunately!

roquefort it doesn't matter how many you have so less of the please!! Loss is loss whatever the numbers. I admire your energy tho - I can barely look after myself with this preg never mind a whole gang of kids! Wish in a way this was twins cos I would love more, but can't imagine at this stage doing this pregnancy thing with a toddler/baby!

bunny what pram, what pram?? you are a seasoned mum too so you must know what you are talking about (unlike me going for the shiny/cool ones..., so come on, what are you getting?

bunnyinheadlights · 23/10/2008 19:12

dan going for a bugaboo cameleon this time (bunny hangs head in shame) as am quite attracted by the colours (you can change them with different fabrics) and it looks light etc. had a mamas and papas pliko p3 travel system with dd and i must say it has been a disappointing experience - handle bars are now all wonky and cant be fixed so feel like battling with an octupus when trying to push the buggy. it was also soooo heavy - to transfer in and out of car and also to push. in fact after 2 years of pushing it around i now have a bad back and have to see an osteopath for it!

i really didnt consider this when i was buying back then - just wanted something that semed practical and worked. in hingsight should have invested in a bugaboo from the start as it would have costed out. plus it seems like you can resell for quite a good price after you are done, provided you've looked after it. plus you can change the colours!! dh thinks i have gone half mad but at least i am being thrifty by buying it second hand?

so which buggies are you looking at dan? my friends have used mcclaren pushchairs and have no complaints of those.

rqouefort welcome - i too had mmc at 10 weeks - it was horrible being told at scan that nope there isnt a heartbeat - felt the world dropping away from me then. it;s hard to get away from that memory - even at 20 weeks scan despite feeling baby move, i held my breath till dr told me they saw a heartbeat.

anniversary of first mmc (2 nov) is coming up and i know i should be grateful of where i am etc. but inevitably have been feelling sad and depressed. which i feel really bad for as i should be happy that i managed to fall pg and get this far so far...

sussexoldspot · 23/10/2008 19:22

Heh heh roquefort! Many, many congratulations on your wonderful news!

On the news front here - have early scan (7.5 weeks) at EPU on Monday. Days are really dragging ......still no ms (can't believe I'm wanting to feel ill!)

Swaliswan · 23/10/2008 21:24

Sussex the days will soon turn into hours and then you'll be having your scan. I'm so nervous about my scan tomorrow. I almost wish that it was days left to go rather than just hours now. DH doesn't seem to understand why I'm not jumping up and down with excitement. I'm not sure how I'm going to manage to keep down enough fluids to get a good scan anyway!

sussexoldspot · 23/10/2008 21:50

Hello there, swaliswan - how far along are you? Sorry to be lazy and ask, rather than check the thread above! I wish you huge, great armfuls of luck!

dan39 · 24/10/2008 00:43

Ooh ooh I want a bugaboo too bunny!!! They are SO expensive tho - have been watching eBay and you are right they are less there but still the price of a small second hand car!!

I missed the anniversary of my mmc (13 Oct) partly cosa I was away with work and didn't write the date at any point. Then I felt guilty for missing it.

swali everything crossed for your scan tomorrow - sticky thoughts to you!

SparkyMalarky · 24/10/2008 08:53

Swali hope everything goes well today - lots of sticky thoughts heading your way

Sussex - the weekend will fly and then it'll be scan time! I was so nervouse before mine that I had the worst MS - but it didn't kick in until about 8 weeks and is much better 3 weeks later...as Dan so very sensibly points out, MS isn't a v. reliable sign anyway (Dan you are the voice of reason for us all !!)

bunny I had a pramette too for DS and the handles have packed up on mine as well. I wish that I'd gone for the bugaboo from the start (we lived in a teeeeeennnnny house at the time and we thought it would be too big. Would've been fine)I am sure it's more cost effective in the long run (since I also had a Quinny Buzz (although didn't get the carrycot bit) and a maclaren!

Swaliswan · 24/10/2008 09:22

Thanks for all the sticky thoughts, Ladies. I'm supposedly 14+1 today but I get to find out later on if that is true as I'm so large for dates. I don't know quite how I feel about the prospect of twins anymore. It all sounds like a bit much hard work to me!

Dan I managed to miss the due date of the baby that I mc'd earlier in the year just a few days ago. I feel a bit guilty for missing it too.

winemakesmummyclever · 24/10/2008 09:31

Morning!

Aargh, have been so busy have had no real time to MN. Have been trying to lurk though.

Just want to say hi to all the new ladies on here. Come in, sit down, kick your shoes off and tell us all your worries & news. We are here to help each other through this and no moan, rant or worry (or a good bit of gossip) is too small.

Hope everyone else is getting along ok, and is not too tired, sick or hormonal. Good luck for those with scans today. Hope that they show lovely little jumping beans.

bunny - I have gone for a bugaboo bee this time round. I also had a M&P pilko thingy with ds and hated - too heavy, steers worse than a shopping trolley, handle never quite the right height for a shortarse such as myself. Just generally didn't like it. Dh does, so we use it when we take ds out and walk the dog, and he pushes (dh, not the dog ).

We decided that we would get it as our McLaren buggy isn't suitable from birth (shame - it is light & easy to use), my car has a tidgy boot, and we have nothing else at all to buy for ds2. Needed to satisfy my shopping cravings somehow .

My sis has just called with yet another madly random question (as always) - how does viagra work?!? Honestly, she is barking. She is doing some radio show on aphrodisiacs later today. She honestly thinks that I am wikipedia & tomtom rolled into one, bless her.

Anyhow, had better get back to work. Have loads to do as have two assignments due for Monday. If anyone sees me on here today, you have the authority to tell me off and withold my cake rations! Shall just load myself up with a biscuit and a coffee first

roquefortlover · 24/10/2008 09:39

Thanks for the welcome sussex and bunny and good luck for your scans sussex and swali! Where are you having yours sussex? I had mine at the EPU at the Princess Royal in Haywards heath last time and sort of don't want to go there again although I do want an early scan (at 7.5 weeks just like you I hope!!)

dan, I am not sure that I have got lots of energy!! However, it is helped a bit as the 2 oldest are 11 and 9 and the third is 3 and off to school next year - so not 4 under 5s or anything like that!

To offset all that I have a job interview later today - job would start in January ! Would love to get it, pretty much my dream job, so I guess I had better go and prepare for it.

roquefortlover · 24/10/2008 09:43

Hello wmmc as well, cross-posted with you thanks to lots of work phonecalls coming in for DH!!

aquababe · 24/10/2008 12:07

hey sussex I've got my scan on monday too. I'm so nervous and to make matters worse I've a thumping headache, which gets worse if my head doesn't stay totally upright and builders digging up the road outside. I'm off to my friends house with three screaming kids for peace and quiet

hey roquefortlover welcome and good luck with job interview

swaliswan hope the scans gone well and with only one big healthy baby

13 weeks tomorrow

funtimewincies · 24/10/2008 13:08

Thanks you for welcoming me and I'm sorry that it was such a short stay, but it's happened again. I started bleeding last night and mc'd properly this morning .

Arse.

Swaliswan · 24/10/2008 13:39

Funtimewincies I'm so sorry for your loss I quite agree. Arse.

sussexoldspot · 24/10/2008 13:58

Oh funtime I am so, so sorry for you. Big virtual hugs from me.

sussexoldspot · 24/10/2008 14:01

Have you been for your scan yet, swali? roque I have to go to the EPU/bunfight/mad scramble at Eastbourne DGH, but we do bring our little boy to the Princess Royal to see a consultant about his glue ear. Mm, lovely, shiny hospital ......

sussexoldspot · 24/10/2008 14:03

Oh, and good luck on Monday, aquababe! Let's convene on Monday evening to compare notes.

Sorry to be a thread hog ....

Swaliswan · 24/10/2008 14:09

Not yet Sussex, it's at 3:45. At least DD will have a chance to finish her afternoon nap before we have to go even if today is starting to drag a bit.

roquefortlover · 24/10/2008 15:48

So sorry funtimewincies. Bugger. How horrid for you.

sussex yes the princess Royal is lovely and clean etc etc. I had the choice of there or Brighton for EPU so no surprise I went for PR! We sometimes come over to the DGH for apptments in the Scott Unit.

sussexoldspot · 24/10/2008 16:01

Oof, yes I know what you mean about Brighton, my friend had her little boy there [bleurgh emoticon]

Wheelybug · 24/10/2008 16:26

Hi All

Welcome to all the new people !

So sorry funtime . Please take care of yourself.

Swalis - hope the scan went well.

Not much to report here - I am 20 weeks today which feels like quite a milestone to reach. 2 weeks to wait until my next scan though...

I had a pramette with dd too - Providing its stood up to storage we'll be using it again certainly in the early days as a pram. Its still in good condition as I stopped using it with dd at about 8 months. I fancy something with air tyres long term as dd may end up at a school a fair walk away but am going to wait until the baby is born and see how it goes.
