How are things with you?

dan39 · 01/10/2008 14:03

wmmc - yo know, mad as everyone else! 22 weeks yesterday, found out at my scan its a GIRL!!! but as others on here know not telling anyone in RL ad had a bit of a 'do' with dh over it all...but think we have decided to go with the not telling. But I am so excited!!! wee purple stripey clothes!! Dh thinks we are 'lying' if we dont share; I think dh is an idiot. And I am pg so must be obeyed - so that's that.

Interested in what you said re placenta previa as I have it too, and am (currently) paranoid about not feeling much movement, largely as ple keep saying 'You must be feeling it kicking, then?' - morons. But maybe that's why...also I might be but dunno what I am looking for...??

Ronny and others with anniversaries, sending thoughts to you - the rest of the world has no idea how it feels with these almost non-events. Maybe you will pop on that day Ronshar - do you want to or would you prefer a different date assocication in your head?

My EDD for the mmc is 13 Oct so its on my mind too{sad}..no idea how I feel about it, but overall I guess I shgould be grateful for current GIRL in my tummy. (GIRL!!!)

dan39 · 01/10/2008 14:06

Ladyh thinking about you this morning - let us know how you get on.

dbno hope you well, and coping with your cyst situation - hope you get good news on Mon, which seems a long way away!!

ronshar · 01/10/2008 14:10

Imagine you having a GIRL. I also think you DH is a bit of a for the whole lying thing. Lying, who exactly are you lying too? It is nobodies business surely what flavour your baby is

I would be quite happy to have this baby today. Any day to be honest. As long as it comes out without an induction I shall be over the moon.

WMMC, get on with your work woman. Is there any cake with that curry. The raspberry leaf is making me a bit constipated so have had to slow down on the intake

winemakesmummyclever · 01/10/2008 14:31

Fruit tart?

Not a comment, but an offer of cake .

Could stretch to mini Kit Kat or flapjack if can be arsed to go downstairs and make a brew.

dan - a girlie, how wonderful! You tell/don't tell whoever you want - it is your (girl) child, not theirs. Only think it might be PP due to lack of lower movements felt, but is def at the front so cushions any the bouts of dancing around that I recall with ds at this stage.

dbno - hope you are ok. Am sure the docs will be doing everything they can to find out what is going on and you will have a full picture soon. Doesn't help the waiting though. Thinking of you & your dh.

ladyh - hope all goes well at your scan.

Ok, back to the books....

dan39 · 01/10/2008 15:17

wmmc get on with your work - don't let me see you here again this aft! (and o sneaking off to the Fab Feb lot, I can see you there too!!

But you are right about it being my info re having a GIRL. I am really crap at secrets (no one will believe me when I eventualy tell them I knew for half the pg)and am really, really enjoying us having one!!

Off to find something else to eat now...ravenous! Haven't eaten for nearly two hours....Porridge methinks..

SparkyMalarky · 01/10/2008 15:18

ooh glad we're all as mad as me . So, after calling the doctors 3x, the antenatal booking clinic twice, spending 20 mins on hold to the EPU and finally getting through I have a scan date!! Next Tuesday, 9:45 am (they originally had me down for one a week later but I'd have been almost 10 wks and I'd be a wreck)..so think LOTS of sticky thoughts for me please!!!

have had lots of sharp little twinges, especially in my lower abdo - just everything stretching isn't it?

Right - have a friend coming over tonight, how do I explain the need to go to bed at 9pm without telling her I'm PG? And is it really rude to kick her out if she only comes over at 8 !

SparkyMalarky · 01/10/2008 15:19

Sorry - a very me, me, me post. Will check back later and in the meantime, happy to offer cake and tea to all who need an afternoon pick me up

winemakesmummyclever · 01/10/2008 15:23

Bugger.....have been rumbled.

Have to keep popping in in order to stay motivated. Well, that's my excuse.......

dan39 · 01/10/2008 16:27

Sparky well done you!! Only 6 million years days to wait - try to keep a wee bit sane. Pains as common as anything round here.

wmmc I won't tell you again....

winemakesmummyclever · 01/10/2008 17:15

All done for now .

Can I come out to play now please mum dan?

dan39 · 01/10/2008 19:26

Hmmm, winey I am not convinced you have done any work! Mind you I can talk - been arsing around all day myself but have made an ebay purchase for my GIRL!! First time both ebay and baby purchase - its a Murron (sp?) sling - awwww!!!

winemakesmummyclever · 01/10/2008 20:31

Nope dan, have done all I had on my to do list, grumbled at dh for going out again tonight, bathed ds and got him settled in bed. Am now going to find something that resembles food and chill out in front of "who do you think you are", whilst sorting out my notes for next week [swot].

You have made the fatal first foray into ebay shopping. Pretty soon, you'll be bidding on everything you see. To be fair though, 3 years ago I bought my wedding shoes on ebay and they have been to about 5 weddings and a high school prom. BTW I don't have the fab & glam social calendar - my sister and niece keep borrowing them. Keep an eye out for any deals on a bugaboo bee footmuff in red for me please

sparky - glad you have got a scan date sorted. I too did the "ooh I cannot possibly wait that long" trick and got my scan at 11 weeks (instead of 13 - would have been a nervous wreck by that time!). Just two weeks to go until my next scan @ 21 weeks. Hope you have an understanding friend. By my reckoning, you should be falling asleep right ....about.......now.........zzzzzzzz

joyfuleyes · 01/10/2008 20:48

Fear I'm not bringing great news to the thread. I started having brown spotting last night & it's carried on today (had quite a lot this evening), I'm also feeling sore - not exactly crampy but not right. And dh was made redundant today. Crap.

ronshar · 01/10/2008 21:07

Can I say how bollocks for you Joyfuleyes without sounding a bit crude?
The spotting maybe nothing. Have you contacted your GP/midwife yet? I'm not sure how far along you are but you should get checked out ASAP. It is Thursday tomorrow so you will want to get it sorted before the weekend.
Fingers crossed for you.

joyfuleyes · 01/10/2008 21:30

midwife says call the emergency gp for urgent referral to EPU if it gets heavy or painful BUT I know for a fact that even if I tried to get a referral tomorrow I wouldn't be seen until next week.

ronshar · 01/10/2008 22:27

If you are less than 12 weeks it may be worth doing a wee stick just to see what the result is. Not as scientific or as reliable as a scan obviously but if it is really bad news than you will know. Hopefully it isnt. Why dont you try for appointment anyway. You will get a scan date so that could be good!

downbutnotout · 02/10/2008 10:12

joyfuleyes - I?m so sorry you are having to contend with this. As I?m sure you know many ladies here (including me) have had spotting in pg without it meaning the end so I will keep everything crossed. Get yourself a referral as soon as you can.

Thanks for kind thoughts wmmc, dan and ladyhelen - I won?t deny it?s difficult but I have to keep my mind on the fact there is nothing wrong with the baby other than the cyst.

Good luck with the scan sparky - my early scans kept me sane(ish)!

downbutnotout · 02/10/2008 10:17

Oh and I somehow forgot to mention that due to all the scanning we have been having we have found we are having a BOY! So we also have a secret dan!

ronshar · 02/10/2008 14:48

Brilliant news DBNO. Your baby boy will be beautiful when he is born regardless of anything else that may be happening. I'm sure it will all be ok for you.

scotlass · 02/10/2008 21:14

Hello to all fellow nutty/ bonkers/ mad as hatters people!

I?m very impressed wmmc but just cos you?re not posting doesn?t mean you?ve not been looking ?skiving--. It?s great your family are supporting you, I hope you?re not getting too stressed. I did a degree when DD was 3yrs old and family lived about 3hrs away, DH was away a lot (bloody army ). She used to shuffle paper and say ?now don?t touch my important work? .

Ronshar what an emotional month for you. I really hope you?re wee babe makes an appearance soon without needing an induction. Have you been practising typing one handed? May come in useful in a few days!

dan39 and baby girl watch out, ebay will become as addictive as MN.

joyfuleyes what a crap day you had. Sorry about your DH?s job. As for the spotting, honestly brown and sore is not a sign of the end. I had myself and everyone else convinced I?d lost this pregnancy when I had fresh blood and pain only to discover a bean with FH at 7wks which is now becoming baby shaped and still hanging in there. I hope you got some joy with referral from GP.

dbno a boy 2 secrets on the same thread this is exciting!!

I phoned EPU as hadn?t heard from hospital re booking (no surprise there). Answered honestly to the 'how are you?' question and was allowed to go up for a check. Feel loads more reassured today, I?ve got to 11+4wks and there?s a real growing baby inside me with a beating heart, arms, legs, face definition and a placenta and a cord! I feel like I need to get more positive, otherwise I?ll end up going into labour still denying to myself I?m pregnant. Roll on the foot under the ribcage that I used to hate so much with DD.

Now, constipation and wind. Best tips to deal with these delights please!

iliketosleep · 02/10/2008 21:30

hello all just popping in to say hi

Brooke is 5 weeks old and all smiley now (see pics)

and i still have that blardy home birth kit sitting in the corner of my bedroom as nobody wanted to take it

maybe i shall ebay it lol

tsom · 02/10/2008 22:20

ILTS can't believe all those smiles at 5 weeks old!

joyfuleyes I think brown spotting is more common than not on this thread and probably doesn't signify much, but makes waiting for scan much harder.

DBNO hope you get some more information next week at your appointment. Very exciting news about having a boy, will you keep it secret?

All well here, another trip to KFC today , limiting myself to no more than one per fortnight, hoping they don't still cook it with trans fats.

Scan this week showed baby sucking his/her fingers at 15+1 weeks - my dates should have been 13+3, no-one very impressed by this... do I look like I can't remember my LMP (sadly the answer is probably yes)

dan39 · 02/10/2008 22:59

joyful we on here nearly all have had something like this - I had gushes of red blood at 6 weeks (in spain next to the pool if you can imagine) with lumps in (sorry if tmi) and was scanned to find I was 7 weeks and had an extrachorioric haemmorage or to you and me, a tear on the womb wall. So bleeding does need to be checked but is by no means a disaster. Keep telling mw whats going on, partic if you think and appointment may take a while.

dbno a boy!!! Secrets are great!!...

I have continued with the shopping and spent rather a lot tonight in mothercare, got home and decided its all too big. Its part of my being positve plan - if I lose this now I will be devastated whether I have a house full of stuff or not. (Okay - maybe that less proof of positivity than I could have hoped for...)

In bed sulking now as dh didn't wanna look. Bastard. So I will tell you!! Two little hats, one trial washable nappy, two packs of sleeepsuits (one set white the other greeny/stripey)two packs of vests, 3 towels (blue - hah that'll throw 'em off the scent! )and 12 muslin squares. Phew! Thats the lot, innit??

I think I might be having a baby!! (for now: viewers should be reassured that normal worrying services will be resumed very shortly)

tsom and scotlass congrats on progress!!

joyfuleyes · 03/10/2008 08:44

thanks - I'm a bit scared to say it incase I jinx myself but I haven't had anything fo a couple of days, nausea is starting & boobs still hurt. I've decided to assume all is well for the time being but try not to look to far aheda. I'm going tosee if I can chase up a scan date.
