you want all the details ok then, DP's birthday on the 14th told baby to remain put so at 2.50am on the 15th I woke him up buy telling him my waters had just gone. He leaps out of bed and starts shouting who do we phone? I said no one until we get this room sorted. So we strip bed get plastic on it cover it with a basic fitted sheet, get the inco pads and towels out. Come downstairs have some water and announce on MN that my waters have gone!!! Pains starting now so tell DP to phone MW, SIL and friend who are acting as childcare for the DDs. MW arrives and we all go upstairs, have scary moment when she cannot get the gas ans air hooked up and I'm shouting well you will have to shoot me ful of morphine then. Labour on my v shaped pillow in the foetal position with the gas and air, cannot believe how utterly painful it is again. Suddenly tell MWs something has changed and the room starts to spin a bit, next thing shout I need to push MW says go ahead and a head shoots out, MWs are startled, next contraction body follows and DD3 makes her entrance into the world at 4.25am 1h 35 mins from waters going. Have a cuddle and SIL and friend come for a look whilst she is still attached. Cord stops pulsing and placenta delivered, OMG afterpains start and are almost as bad as the labour. MWs get me up and in the shower to try and get the hot water on me. Get back in bed with co-codamol and hot water bottle and they eventually go. DD1 came in just after she was born to see her, DD2 was sound asleep in the next room until 8am. She is an absolute angel, BFing going well too.

Oh she was 8lbs 5ozs and her name is Bethany Anna Grace (couldn't decide on middle name so she got both) and 5 days late!

sweetkitty · 24/07/2008 12:32

Oh yes the homebirth equipment scared me too but nice to have it all there in a way. As long as the lovely canisters of gas and air are there thats all I care about.

I had to get diamorphine, stemitil (an anti emetic) and cocodamol on prescription from the GP. Told MWs not to give me the diamorphine but to tell me I had had it!

TwilightSurfer · 24/07/2008 12:57

Congratulations SweetKitty!! Quick birth too. WOW!!!

dan39 · 24/07/2008 15:59

Hello everyone, birth stories scary!! But I have been thinking about home birth so interesting too...my big news is that I had my 12 week scan yesterday and it was OKAY there was a little alien there spinning around! I was so relieved I carried on crying for ages, I still can't quite believe it because I didn't think I would get this far given previous experience. I was crying before I went in, when the woman asked my date of birth I couldn't speak and had to sob for a bit then explain to her that the last time I had a 12 week scan it was to find no heartbeat, so could she put me out of my misery really quickly? I lay with closed eyes for what seemed like minutes (prob 10 seconds) til she said 'yes there's a heartbeat'.... So now I think I might have a baby (next feb) but on the other hand the fear remains - does this ever stop? I want to be positive but its so scary!! Madness I tell you - the whole thing!

iliketosleep · 24/07/2008 16:12

Congratulations on a great scan and healthy bean

Unfortunatly no it wont go away, the fear of something going wrong will be there until the end! I still panick if Brooke goes about an hour without kicking, im straight upstairs to the doppler checking for the heartbeat. Its always fine but its what m/c does to you. Its cruel but in a way it makes you constantly aware IYKWIM

Its really hot here today, im sweating buckets

Although it was fun hoseing the kids down in the garden

We are having an 8ft pool delivered tomorrow which aparently i wont fit in but ive threatened that its going to double up as a birthing pool and i dont care if its in the garden, cue the "eeeewwwwww muuuummmmmm noooooooo" (and that was just dp )hehehehehehehe

downbutnotout · 24/07/2008 18:21

Hello girls, I haven't been here for a while, but had to pop in to say a big 'CONGRATULATIONS'to Kassha Jules & Sweetkitty really pleased you have your little bundles, sorry Kasha that you baby was born a little early, but I am sure baby will be just fine, scbu are fantastic, lots of love to you all xxx
Hello to everyone else especially cricri mollie ronshar 07MTW Ilts and Bethoo
ILTS you must be getting very fedup excited now, your due date is getting very close. I would love to attempt a home birth, but I am too scared to ask about one. keep thinking if I have a baby in hospital, I can get an epidural asap if things get too much for me, but things always get too much & I never get my epidural so don't know why I bother!(will need to have anti-biotics when in labour this time as I had a live culture of strep B found not long that long ago) hope all goes well, and you find room for the 'placenta bucket'
Jules just when I thought it was safe to come back to this room, I discovered its not! I looked at your pictures and they made me cry, then I read your post about your DH & DD love bond, and cryed again! I am so happy for you, you have been through so much sadness, that to find out that you have finally got a beautiful baby girl just filled me with joy (and more tears!)Well done you, you so deserve this!xx

07MTW where are you hun, hope you and bump are doing fine?

WorzselMummage · 25/07/2008 10:06

I'd like to join if i may ?

I have just discovered i am pregnant again 4+3 and it's just about sinking in

We had a mmc at 13 weeks in Feb after 2 years ttc, this one has taken 5 months so a vast improvment. i am absolutly desperate for it to stick, i so want another baby.

I had have 3 mc altogether, 2 at 8 weeks which were several years ago and the mmc which completly broke my heart.

We also have a 3 year old who was 8 weeks premature due to PPROM, she's great.

Would it be ok if i lurked around here for a while ?

cricri · 25/07/2008 10:28

Welcome Worzelsmummage, of course you can join us So sorry to hear about all the heartache you've been through and wishing you an uneventful pg this time round. I also had a mmc last September so know how tough it is. This thread is great for reassurance though - I'm now 25+6 and still can't quite believe it These lovely ladies have definitely eased the worry for me.
Dan Congratulations on your scan You must be so relieved! Hopefully the worry will ease a bit for you know, although I agree with the others, it never entirely goes away. It does lessen with each milestone.
SK Congratulations again I too am finding birth stories a bit scary but also hoping for a homebirth so was interested to see list of equipment from ILTS Made the mistake of showing it to DH though - he went rather pale esp at the placenta bucket lol Good job I'll have a doula there too
Emmsy Good to see you back
DBNO Hope your friend is doing OK.

iliketosleep · 25/07/2008 14:04

LOL 'placenta bucket' I may unpack the kit and take photos for everyone just for added affect

Off for my scan now WOOHOO last chance to see madam before shes here

Well pool was delivered this morning and after 1 and a half hours of filling it up the dc are having a whale of a time. Although dp is enjoying himself more running and divebombing in ah well its fun to watch

See you all later xxx

ronshar · 25/07/2008 15:14

ILTS. So do we get the nice scan photos before the house of horrors of the home delivery pack? Not sure that is a good idea. There are a lot of first timers here. Might scare the bejazzers out of them

MrmcJrn. Now lovely to see you here. I thought for a little tiny second you were back for a longer stay..

Worzel, welcome. You can come and stress all you like here with us.

iliketosleep · 25/07/2008 16:09

well im back and am carrying a little fatty who has a big head and a big gut, so thats something to look forward too

Shes too big for a pic now and is slightly engaged so there was nothing to see

Your right i dont think showing pics would be a good idea hehe

downbutnotout · 25/07/2008 18:01

My results have come back as low risk and my friend is feeling slightly more positive after her scan that showed no markers for Downs so...[pulling myself together and trying to think positive emoticon]

Have been fascinated by the discussion of your home birth pack, ilts. DD was supposed to a home birth (and I plan to have this one at home) and we had:

  1. Birthing pool
  2. Birthing ball
  3. Groundsheets from B&Q.
  4. Industrial supply of meptid (similar to pethidine).
  5. Er...that's it.

Mind you, I was a lot more blase in those days. Where did your pack come from?

Welcome worzel by the way.

iliketosleep · 25/07/2008 18:32

It was supplied by the midwife although i do need to get a load more inco pads as last time despite having LOADS down i still managed to soak through my bed covers sheets and matress when they broke my waters. Was washing my covers at 1am

p.s. had a nosey in a delivery pack and there was..........scissors [gulp]

downbutnotout · 25/07/2008 20:42

Are you having an independent midwife? My NHS midwives didn't give me anything. Except gas and air, and that was bugger all use apart from the mouthpiece which was quite handy to bite on. I still wonder if I was doing it properly because it did absolutely nothing for me.

Good idea about the pads but my waters broke on the sofa. I was just lying down thinking: "I'll have a little nap before dinner", then I sneezed, my waters went and we were in business.

iliketosleep · 25/07/2008 21:15

Well im hoping its going to be the midwife i have seen throughout the pregnancy but there are 6 on call so it depends on whos on to who comes out. So i was told there are 5 home births booked for august so if no midwives are available on the day i go into labour then i have to go in, which is a bit of a PITA as it means i will have to pack a bag/arrange childcare etc.

The gas and air varies from person to person i think, my auntie said she didnt like it and it did nothing for her but im like a pitbull if anyone tries to take it off me

I've never had my waters go, its always been, I get checked, they say "membranes are bulging, lets just pop them" then baby is out within minutes. i'm hoping its going to be the same this time really as its a sort of comfort knowing how its all going to go rather than being surprised if that makes sense?

downbutnotout · 25/07/2008 21:53

I know what you mean about wanting it to be predictable - and I'm still wishing I'd got that little nap as well.

Blimey - sounds like your midwives have got you properly set up. They can't make you come into hospital by the way. A fellow mn-er put me on to the information here (follow the link for the article "Home birth in the UK" but you might need to be quite bullish to insist on a home birth. It depends how you feel at the time - you may not be up for it. Personally I'm getting my letters written (info at www.aims.org.uk) as I was told something similar at my booking in appointment about midwives not being available and I really don't want to go to the hospital again if there's no need.

iliketosleep · 25/07/2008 22:47

Well she did say if i did have to go in then it would literally only be to give birth then i can leave straight after. Think its just precaution, what are the odds of 5 different women going into labour on the same night?

Knowing my luck........lol

MrsMcJnr · 26/07/2008 00:22

Oh Jules I am tingling all over reading your post, I cannot tell you how happy I am for you, congratulations hon!!!!!!

Hey Daisy ? how are you?! Sorry for disappearing, I just had so much on my plate but I didn?t mean to worry anyone

Congratulations Sweetkitty so glad it all went well and that she is thrieving!

Dan39 that?s great news, many of us have been through that ?scan after the bad one? and know exactly how you felt x

Lovely to see the list of all the babies I missed; congratulations to all but especially goingfor3 (wow a boy hon! ) makecakesnotwar and basilbrush!!

LOL Ronshar ? if only, soon maybe! how are you?

downbutnotout · 26/07/2008 12:10

Hi mrsmcjnr you probably don't remember me, but you were kind to me (and lots of others) on the ttc after mc thread way back last year after my third mc. So happy to hear you are a fully fledged graduate of this thread now!

iliketosleep · 26/07/2008 16:40

quiet in here today

you must all be out sunning yourselves

Squarebear1973 · 26/07/2008 19:13

16+3 today; due 10th Jan. Any chance of being added to the list, or do I just copy it & add myself? Not been here long enough to find out, but planning on staying for the duration

Off on hols tomorrow so hoping to relax a little as have had a few anxious days, for no reason other than I have! Silly things like not constipated at the mo, so does that mean no more baby hormones floating around?; liking tea again which I've not been able to drink since just before I saw the blue line...just silly things I guess, or is this the stage of 'blooming' that you hit in the 2nd phase? Not got this far before, so no clue
Got 2 wait 3 wks on Tues for next scan & already getting nervous.
Chill me out please!!!!!!

HUGS to all xx
