elibumbum · 21/07/2008 13:35

Hello everyone

Hope you are all well and had a good weekend.

Saw the mw (mainly for my booking bloods) this morning and she managed to find the heartbeat with her hand held doppler thingy! Was so relieved! Have my nuchal this evening and now a little less stressed about it.

minmooch - Being stressed can loosen things up. Have you recently started iron tablets? They can upset your stomach. Iron tablets kept me regular when I was pg with DS but they bung lots of people up! Good luck for your nuchal tonight.

bunnyinheadlights · 21/07/2008 14:53

hi ebb good luck with your nuchal tonight tho i am sure you don't need it. it must have been lovely to hear the heartbeat - i secretly want to own my own private scanning machine so that i can scan at leisure whenever i want!

i had my 8 week 4 day scan yesterday and it went well. beanie has grown lots and is right size for dates with a strong heartbeat. i cried like a baby at the appointment. but i have been harbouring so many worries in the lead up to it, it was all too much for me.

minmooch know how you feel - i can't say what you can do to relieve the stress as i go through exact same thoughts and worry. if it helps, at least it's a normal feeling. ps have been loose since start of pg

congrats tjuice and jules how is the bf going?

perkypopsy · 21/07/2008 14:58

Hi Everyone, back for my MN dose of normality (or at least PG womens normality which of course is anything but )

Daisy thanks for the boob advice - feel much better now. cricri glad to have a fellow BF worrier!

I sounds like your friend squarebear - I could swear they have even got smaller since the start - perhaps because baby burning off my fat supplies (is first place I lose weight - Great!). Just hope am not in for a 10lb though eh - would defo be out the sun roof for titchy me!

Not looking forward to the hard as rocks boobs that everyone keeps mentionning...but fuck it - will be so excited if i get any change in size I'll just be grinning and feeling like Jordan ha ha

Well done Jules on the BF in public - so funny cos I met my friend in Marksies cafe for lunch yesterday and I was really struck by how hard it is to do in public - had never really crossed my mind before - also is it just me or is it less common - I hardly see it at all anymore? Couldn't help myself staring at her thinking - that will be me and yaaaaaaaaaay!

DH went off to US til Friday this morning - felt really abandonned - I know I'll be fine but am like a fragile little girl at the mo - very annoyed with myself. Not heard much from my family at all and starting to niggle myself and get cross with them - is my fault for being so independent all this time - I think they are just used to capable pops who keeps herself to herself?

perkypopsy · 21/07/2008 15:00

Hey bunny crossed posts - congrats on the scan - I still remember ours at 7 weeks - was gobsmacked to see the flicker of a heart beat! You might be lucky like me and start feeling movements early - gave me loads of confidence from about 14 weeks or so (and hasn't stopped shifting around since which is less fab when trying to sleep at 4am )

elibumbum · 21/07/2008 15:50

bunny thanks and congratulations on your scan . When is your next one?

bunnyinheadlights · 21/07/2008 19:45

ebb not sure whether i should hold out to the 12 week nuchal or go for another in between. dh says i should now have faith and not be addicted to scans - i can't help but! did you have one in between?

perkypops yeah it took a while to get used to bf in public. my sis bought me a scarf from the us to cover up and at first i just felt like wrapping it around my head and let my boobs hang out! i got the hang after a while - just dont leave it too long - i remember putting off a feed and half an hour later ended up spraying the windows at starbucks when i finally whipped my very full boob out!!!

elibumbum · 21/07/2008 22:23

bunny I didn't have one in between the 7 wk and the nuchal. Was quite tempted to have one at 9wks but it would've been too expensive on top of the cost of the 7wk and nuchal (we don't get NHS nuchal scans around here). If I'd had any bleeding I would've self referred to the EPU and had another. Waiting is horrible though. If you are really stressed then I think it is worth getting another scan to put your mind at rest.

Nuchal went well but have to wait until tomorrow evening for the blood test results to be added for the overall risk. The baby was very cute and moving lots .

MollieMooma · 22/07/2008 12:10

Elibum Really pleased you heard the HB and your nuchal went well, will keep everything crossed for your bloods to be fine x
Minmooch Hope your OK and worrying a little less (how stupid am I course your going to worry that's why we're all here doh )
Bummy Fantastic news about your scan, so excited for you. LOL at BF in starbucks, lovely image in my head

Well I had my scan this morning, we saw a blob, but it was a blob with a heartbeat!! Yey, I think it might be sinking in a bit now! DH looked really emotional after bless him, they even gave us a picture although they said they don't normally do it, I think she just felt sorry for us!
Not feeling quite as rough as I did yesterday but I think most of that was nerves now.
Oh and the scan made me just over 6 wks so definately OV'd late, I thought I was 7 wks tomorrow. Dating scan is now booked for the 18th August when I will be about 10.5 wks

elibumbum · 22/07/2008 13:52

Mollie - so glad that your scan went well and you saw a heartbeat .

bunnyinheadlights · 22/07/2008 15:33

ebb good news about the nuchal it must be nice to see a proper baby bouncing around in there. i am sure the bloods will be fine - waiting is horrible isn't it but at least you have pic of baby to keep you sane. you're now in your 2nd trimester - how exciting!!

mollie yay for you too!! it's very reassuring to see a heartbeat at this stage. i remember with my first mc i was supposedly 6 wks 5 days but didnt see a heartbeat until 8 weeks...they say if you see the heartbeat at 6 weeks, that's a very good sign...

MollieMooma · 22/07/2008 16:56

Thanks Bunny that's really reassuring x

elibumbum · 22/07/2008 21:47

Got the blood test/over all NT result this evening and was told the risk of downs is low. Huge relief . I will try and relax a bit more now.

Squarebear1973 · 23/07/2008 09:59

Bunny - me & DH both said that we would love to be able to scan every week, so know just what you mean haha! We had scans at 7, 11, 12 (x2) and 14, so miss them now. 16 weeks today - can't believe it! Lower stomach seems to be less wobbly too, which was a nice feeling this morning.

Had last blood test yesterday for spina bifida. All others have come back fine - so lucky. Next scan on 20th Aug & next MW not until 16th Sept - is that normal to go that long? I thought it was supposed to be every 4 weeks & this is 8 weeks away.

Have had twinges, like a tight elastic band just above groin and only on 1 side. MW said that this is "growing & stretching of uterus" - anyone else had / having them? Don't hurt, just a bit weird

Its great that everyones doing so well

Still reg knicker checking though...

livismum · 23/07/2008 10:51

Hey guys just wanted to say thanks, this page is making me much more positive i thought i was the only secret knicker checker! Have a lovely little girl who is 3 1/2 and after trying for 2nd for ages (damn annoying as 1st bit of surprise!) found out pg in feb only to mc 3 days later grrrrrr! Am now 6wks + 3days and going to loo to check frequently!
Boobs are killing which im happy bout but getting twingy pains a bit, think i'm noticing every little thing! Any way fingers crossed! havent been to see gp or anything trying to drag it out as long as poss. xx

MollieMooma · 23/07/2008 12:02

Squarebeat & Elibum So pleased both your results came back so good!
I'm really regretting asking for MS now struggling at work with trying to fit interviewing customers in with running to the loo and keeping it hidden from colleagues!

bunnyinheadlights · 23/07/2008 12:37

squarebear hee hee - wow you've had your fair share of scans too - it'sso nice to see baby in there the reaasurance alone keeps me going. you're really past the danger zone now your're 16 weeks and congrats on the all clear from your results.

mollie so sorry to hear about MS - it's really hit me hard. i struggled at work from 6 - 8 weeks and was constantly in the loos. felt so rough and cried every night. now im signed off sick for 2 weeks - there was no way i could carry on. i told work even tho it's early day s- it's blissful to be sick in the comfort of one's own loo and to sleep whenever i need. maybe you should go off sick too?

welcome to livismum yup - lots of us mad ladies over here. i really wont ever believe it until i have babe in arms i think!

MollieMooma · 23/07/2008 12:52

Bunny Going to see GP tomorrow as my IBS has flared up quite badly due to having a permanent empty stomach, can't keep enough food down to stop the pains But not complaining
To sleep when I want to and throw up at home would be bliss! Hope your starting to feel better?

Jules, that's so sweet... enjoy every minute of it, you deserve it!

EBB and the others - pleased to hear of all the good scans.

take care all, and I'll pop by again soon to see how you all are

ronshar · 23/07/2008 14:23

Jules I thoyght you would no longer be able to make me cry! I was wrong. Stop it now.
When's the wedding lady? I am so pleased your feeding is working out. I bet you spend all day just staring at her when she is asleep..

Congrate to every one with good scan and blood results. One less thing to worry about.
29 weeks now. It is hard going but nearly there.

downbutnotout · 23/07/2008 18:25

Hi - so pleased to hear everyone sounding so happy and positive and sorry to bring you down but I am

As you may have read elsewhere my friend who got pg at the same time as me after 2 mcs got her Down syndrome screening results back Monday and her risk is 1 in 6. I have supported her as best I can, and she is now starting to making decisions about what to do next. But I'm experiencing all kinds of emotions and also feeling guilty that this shouldn't be about me, but it feels so strange we had our tests and our dating scans on the same day. We were looking forward to being able to relax and enjoy our pregnancies together and this seems so cruel. I have not had my results yet, but I thnk this is probably good news. Nonetheless I'm all over the place.

iliketosleep · 23/07/2008 19:41

Downbutnotout-im so sorry you are having to go through this

Jules-Its still sinking in that you are now a mummy!!! Im glad you are settling well with madam (who i pressume is still eleanor?) and am so proud of you for everything you have put yourself through to get her!

I had my home birth appointment today and she delivered all the torture tools WOOOHOO its all systems go! Also got a scan on friday to check growth and position although she said that shes 99.9% sure she is 4/5 engaged. Which means that its all going in the right direction! I can double check that SHE hasn't grown any boys bits over the past 17 weeks too, otherwise he would be in pink till hes six months old

We have settled on the name Brooke Olivia Williams, please someone dont let me change it ffs, im sick of the arguments with dp

ronshar · 23/07/2008 21:20

ILTS Beautiful name Brooke Olivia.. How many packs do you get for the home birth? And what is in them? If you dont mind me asking.
I was working last time so was able to "borrow" everything I needed. Including half a ton of Inco sheets. Wondering how much I will have to buy for myself.
How long do you have to go now it must be very soon. OOOO how exciting.

DBNO. I am not sure what to say that will make you feel better. Has your friend been for a scan etc to see if any physical signs or is she deciding on Amnio? Maybe just being there for her will be all you need to do. Sometimes just a text with a hug is enough to get you through the day.

downbutnotout · 23/07/2008 21:38

Thanks ilts (I like the name Brooke by the way) and ronshar. She has had a detailed scan and there are none of the markers for Downs but at the moment she is booked in for an amnio at 16 weeks. She was in the high risk category albeit at a much lower level (1 in 200) with her last pregnancy, opted against the amnio and she suffered a lot of heartache wondering whether her child would be OK (she was). I think she needs the certainty one way or another. Will try to see her through and stop worrying.

iliketosleep · 23/07/2008 22:05
