I am 19 weeks tomorrow and still feeling really good. Odd bit of sciatic pain when I’ve sat too long but other than that I can not complain it’s been a pretty steady ride for me up to this nearly halfway point.

Only thing I’m rather grossed out by is the amount of vaginal discharge I’m getting! I know it increased but I wasn’t aware of how much. Constantly dampish! Normal milky white colour and no odour so I’m not concerned but that’s been interesting. My sex drive has also come back good and proper but DH isn’t all that keen and wants to wait til the 20 week scan.

I have been loving feeling baby moving. Like little bubbles popping in my tummy, so lovely and exactly how I imagined it to feel really. So excited for it to get stronger so DH can have a feel. I wish he could experience it too - so much more real for us at this stage whilst the dads are just waiting and living life as normal but that will all change in time Grin

Scan next Friday on Halloween Smile

Hello ladies. Hope you are all keeping well. Looking for a little bit of last minute guidance about preparing for my 20 week scan tomorrow morning.

The letter inviting me to my 12 week scan had instructions about making sure I drank two litres of water at least an hour before my scan appointment.

The letter for my 20 week one doesn't have any preparation instructions at all, so wondered how much I should or shouldn't drink before my scan tomorrow, and - essentially - how full my bladder needs to be.

Heya. You don't need to have a super full bladder but make sure it's not empty. Don't pee for an hour before your scan. That's what I did. They make you empty your bladder part way through the scan anyway. And good luck for tomorrow

Thank you! This was really helpful.

@CheekyLittleD how was your scan?

Papill19 · 27/10/2025 16:19

@CheekyLittleD how was your scan?

All good! Everything came back normal, and baby's measurements were slapbang in the middle of where they should be.

Little bit shamed going through my ultrasound notes now and seeing the sonographer wrote "sub-optimal view due to maternal habitus" (e.g. too much belly fat) on them 😂

My 12 week scan said there was a sub-optimal view due to "excessive bowel gas". Can't catch a break!

Papill19 · 27/10/2025 16:32

@CheekyLittleD that did make me laugh - how rude!! So glad it was all okay for you! Mine is on Wednesday and really starting to feel nervous now! Congratulations, I hope you are celebrating this evening x

CountingDownToAutumn · 27/10/2025 18:35

I’m glad this thread has had a resurgence and there’s some happy 20 week scan news coming through!

Mines on Friday so Halloween! I did have a private scan at 17 weeks where we were told that baby is a girl. I can’t quite believe it… apparently there’s been no girls born on the male side of dp’s family for generations. I’m definitely going to ask for a second opinion before buying anything particularly girly!

Pennyroses · 27/10/2025 19:42

Aww same here! I'm having the first girl on dp's side for many generations! 🩷 He's one of 3 boys himself, we told his grandparents at the weekend and his grandma was so overcome with joy bless her, she can't wait to go and buy baby girl clothes now for the first time!!! 🥹🩷

Hiya, newbie here.
had my 20 weeks scan yesterday, nearly passed out, no idea why🤣🤦🏻‍♀️. But all is well, measurements all good. We had the gender written down, as I want my OH to be in a better mind set (literally just quit smoking this weekend, so want him in better mood for when we find out), but obviously I’m itching to know 🤣. We’re not gonna do anything extravagant, just the two of us and nice dinner, maybe non-alcoholic mulled wine.
But just like few of the previous ladies posters, there has not been a girl born on his side of the family for ages, he’s one of 4 boys too. His brothers also have boys. So unsure if that’s our destiny. But we’ll soon find out.
Im happy reading up on similar stories and going through the same experiences. This is my first pregnancy, and on top of it I’m over 40 so a lot has been going on in my head. But I’m relaxing more and more now.
Sk will now be a regular reader on here :)

This is my first too, and I'm 41. So you're in good company. Glad to hear all is going well. I had my whooping cough vaccine after my scan yesterday and was in bed by 8pm asleep, as it completely wiped me out (which the nurse warned it might) so we celebrated with a very early night 😂

I still have to do that, I had it on my list, but me nearly fainting (whilst laying down🤣🤦🏻‍♀️) pretty much wiped out the list of questions I had, vaccine included. So glad I’ve got the heads up of what might be coming 😬

Mine said 'Difficult scan due to above average maternal BMI' .. I'm still livid and it was 3 weeks ago 🤣
I wouldn't have minded but it wasn't a difficult scan at all, you could see baby clearly and she got every measurement straight away, the only one she struggled with was heart when he moved positions! It just felt completely unnecessary to write down on my notes! 😅

Orangelover · 31/10/2025 18:34

Had my 20 week today! It was amazing I absolutely loved it. I keep staring at the pictures thinking how cute my baby looks 🥹 Feel so relieved and so lucky we’re all good so far.

Wanted a suprise so didn’t look at all the key boy/girl parts and I genuinely didn’t see anything 😂 but the sonographer did make reference to “her little arm” a bit later and said she in another moment. Do we think she gave it away or or was she playing with us 😂 I’m honestly not bothered either way I’m just thrilled everything looks ok.

worldwidetravel2017 · 02/11/2025 07:00

Saw baby girl again yesterday

MummyV2021 · 06/11/2025 14:30

@CheekyLittleD and @Ohwelldone I totally feel you on being "shamed" through your scan report!! Why do they have such different terms and references for it? Mine said 'suboptimal view due to maternal adiposity' - had to google it but I knew deep down what it meant! And like both of you... I wouldn't mind but the scan was perfect, images were pretty clear and she was able to do all the measurements and checks! It took a little longer due to position of baby - like him having his hands over his face when she wanted to check for cleft lip and she struggled to check how close my placenta was to my cervis due to baby being high up and my bladder not being quite full enough.

I guess they have to reference it in case anything comes back not quite right down the line and they can say it looked ok at the time but might have been the mum's gut obstructing my view?! 😂

Beeinalily · 15/11/2025 23:40

@Orangelover I was reading a Christmas thread from last year where you said you were hoping to get pregnant, and had a nose at your user name to see if it had happened - and it has! I'm so pleased for you (and for all you other pregnant ladies, of course). Congratulations!

Yes it has! It took a while for us but over the moon to be pregnant this Christmas. I was miserable last Christmas Grin I’ll be working again for much of it but the thought of being off next year with my very much wanted baby is literally all I need to get through it Smile

CheekyLittleD · 23/12/2025 18:29

How are we getting on, ladies? Is it me or are the weeks seemingly flying by now? I'm 28 weeks today and the tiredness is back with a vengeance, but - after some physio and listening to my body a little more - the pelvic girdle pain that kicked in for me around 22 weeks is easing nicely.

We had our 28 week midwife appointment today. Found out the results of our GTT last week, which all came back clear, and also got told baby is measuring in the 90th percentile, having come in at the 50th percentile during the last appointment. So either baby's had a growth spurt or I have 😂

Papill19 · 24/12/2025 09:41

@CheekyLittleD i was 28 weeks yday too! And definitely feeling very tired, although Christmas doesn’t help does it? Other than that I am feeling good, feel so grateful to be at this stage and so nice in the lead up to Xmas etc and then the new year feels so exciting. How’s everyone’s movements? I feel like I have most days with lots of wriggles and then the odd day less so which is frustrating but I think that’s just baby’s routine! Have a lovely Xmas all you mummas

Pennyroses · 24/12/2025 12:05

Definitely flying by now! I'm 29 weeks today! I had a growth scan and baby is measuring 80th centile and I also have polyhydramnios 😫 so feeling very huge now. Gtt was also clear but I do have a history of big babies 😬 can't believe we're almost in 2026!!! xx

I find that when I have an active day, baby is noticeably quieter and then on my lazier days, baby is kicking and wriggling about like no-one's business. It's a lovely, reassuring feeling though, especially as I have an anterior placenta.

DobryWieczor · 28/12/2025 12:47

I’m 31 weeks today which is totally bonkers. 9 weeks to go. I can’t wait to not have heartburn regularly - it’s not severe, just fairly persistent
