@worldwidetravel2017i actually had a maternal medicine appointment this morning.
They went through my health and as I will have to have a c section due to not wanting me to go into labour (increased risk of uterine rupture) so discussed a bit of a plan for that. I have no need to continue under them but they are referring me to another obstetric consultant to make a plan. They also said due to my work and mental health that they will go with my lead and happy to sign me off the the rest of my pregnancy at any point. Which is good to know

Hi

So sorry to intrude like this but can I ask if there's any chance there's anyone from Aberdeen on this thread?

Wondering if our NHS board changed the combined testing reporting and the lowest risk you can now get is 1 in 5000?

worldwidetravel2017 · 13/09/2025 06:22

I'm not in Aberdeen but I am in Scotland (NHS Highland), my midwife told me that the they changed things recently and now the lowest risk you can get is 1 in 5000, I think previously it was 1 in 100000

How is everyone getting on? The wait between the 12 and 20 week scan feels so long! Is any doing a private one in between and has anyone felt any flutters/movements yet?

Yes I've booked a private scan for this Saturday when I'll be 16 +3! So excited but also nervous. I have been feeling some flutters but very on and off. It really is that limbo stage as my sickness has now eased and I feel pretty good but not very 'pregnant' yet!

Yeah I am ok. Starting to feel baby flutter at 14 weeks which is nice.
Got my 12 week blood back yesterday, It was 1 in 5000 for Edwards and Pataus and 1 in 211 for downs syndrome. It is still considered low risk and was kind of expecting a number like this due to the pregnancy with a chromosome abnormality last year but still made me upset enough to book an NIPT in tomorrow privately.

I got very similar to you, 1 in 5000 for Edwards and pataeus and 1 in 330 for downs syndrome. I kind of expected it due to my age and the fact I'm pretty certain I have very high hcg. NT measurements were normal so I'm not too worried and not going to bother with NIPT but I can completely understand wanting to do this for peace of mind. Good luck, I'm sure all will be well x

Mummysparrow · 23/09/2025 20:49

@Pennyrosesmy NT measurement was good too. My mental health ain't great at the moment and been signed off work for stress and anxiety. With this being a rainbow pregnancy I suppose I am just trying to do anything I can to make me less anxious. I had been toying with the idea of doing an NIPT anyway. Doing an advanced one for £300 so not horrendous. Trying to decide whether to find out the gender or not

Pennyroses · 23/09/2025 20:55

@Mummysparrow I completely understand, this is a rainbow baby for me too and I'm now at the point things started to go wrong in my last pregnancy so I'm very anxious as well 😔 I've read up on it a lot and our odds really aren't bad, it just seems it as many others get much higher numbers. I'm going for a gender scan this weekend which is also for reassurance really. It's so hard not to be anxious after previous loss isn't it 😞

I've got mine on Monday, mid-morning. Got to hear baby's heartbeat on the Doppler at my midwife appointment two weeks ago, which was pretty amazing. Saw it beating on the 12 week scan, but there is something sort of magical about hearing it for the first time.

I had a long weekend in Paris for my wedding anniversary last week and did double my usual daily step count and had really bad round ligament pain for a few days after and achey hips when I was trying to sleep. That was probably the worst I've felt recently but now I'm back to my usual activity levels, it's levelled off quite a bit now, aside from the odd twinge or ache when I get up off the sofa or out of bed.

Papill19 · 21/10/2025 08:11

@CheekyLittleD yes I definitely notice more aches and pains if I’ve done more than usual! And agree hearing baby on the Doppler is so special, I’d heard they didn’t do it t the 16 week anymore so I was so pleased they did! My 20 is next Wednesday, I’m starting to feel nervous for it, but will be a good milestone once it’s done!

Pennyroses · 21/10/2025 10:47

My 20 week scan is tomorrow!! So nervous but excited aswell 😬

RiverThunder · 21/10/2025 16:01

Hi everyone! Hope we’re all getting on okay ☺️

I had my 20 week scan on Friday just gone, and found out baby is a girl! Also has decided the best position is to have her feet resting on her forehead, so she’s a gymnast apparently 😂

Sickness has now largely passed for me, crops up occasionally but I’m honestly just starving all the time!

Anyone else absolutely boiling? Poor husband is dying for the heating on and I’m here like it’s summer 😅

Papill19 · 21/10/2025 18:38

Ahh @RiverThunder how lovely and what a relief to have it over with! How long did yours last? I cannot wait for mine to be done, we are not finding out the sex though!!

I can’t say I’ve been mega hot but I am convinced I am having a boy so maybe that’s a difference! My heartburn is just driving me mad at the moment though! X

Oh the heartburn is terrible! It’s a relief to not be so nauseated and actually have an appetite but the heartburn that’s come with it is 😬

I’d say we were in there for about 25/30 minutes! They measure and check everything. The sonographer was lovely, she told us exactly what she was measuring/looking for and pointed out where everything has formed properly, and confirmed she was all happy with what she was seeing. It was just really nice to have it all explained to us and was a reassurance I hadn’t really realised I needed!

She did ask us right at the start if we were finding out and avoided that area until the end, but I’m sure I heard her say ‘she’ at some point so it’s a good job we wanted to know! 😂

Hope everything goes well with yours! ☺️ xx
