Hi all! Didn’t see an August thread yet so here we go.

I got my BFP today and my EDD is 2nd of August next year.

I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

Hi all!

Keeping fingers crossed for everyone!

I’ve taken a test at 11DPO & today at 13DPO and pretty sure the line is getting darker so hopefully that means things are going the right way.

Still trying not to get my hopes up as it’s so early… how are you all getting on with distraction techniques?

Hey guys!
just checking in. Glad to see all the BFPs!
@Emelene keeping fingers crossed for you tomorrow.
xx

Parks17 · 03/12/2024 11:08

I left a voicemail and got a message back saying they aim to get a booking appointment between 7-9 weeks but they're having a backlog

I assume I'll have had my private scan before I even have had a booking appointment

Lulubelle92 · 03/12/2024 12:36

Thinking of you @Emelene, hope everything goes well at your scan tomorrow 🤞

DiscoComfort · 03/12/2024 13:00

Hello everyone,

Hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread!

going by last AF I’m due on 4th of August with our first child. We were successful on our first round of fertility treatment (Letrozole) which was a huge shock after a long time of frustration and disappointment. I still don’t really believe it. Anyone else struggling with first trimester anxiety?

We have a 7 week scan booked for the 16th. Not sure what I’ll expect to see at that point. A bit apprehensive but feel lucky to have the scan that early on NHS.

How is everyone doing? :)

Attheyard · 03/12/2024 16:32

Well hello, just made an account today as I got a positive test result! This was our first go at trying and literally only actually tried once in my fertile window as I was away for work around then. So I’m completely surprised but excited!

I’m also secretly a bit gutted - it’s Christmas and now I can’t eat my favourite cheeses or smoked salmon, or take hot baths or have champagne or mulled wine and it all feels a bit overwhelming. I know that’s awful to think but I can’t help it! Stressing about how to deal with the 4(!) work Christmas parties I have to attend plus drinks with friends and even Christmas with the in-laws, whom I absolutely do not want to tell until >12 weeks.

I think I’m about 4.5 weeks, and I’ve requested a private scan for before Christmas so hopefully that will give us a better idea. Of course I know plenty can go wrong so trying to keep a level head as well. Fingers crossed for us all!

Attheyard · 03/12/2024 16:33

Also, I only started taking folic acid today and I’ve been out for drinks a few times already because I just assumed it would never happen. Is anyone also taking vitamin D? Feeling like an idiot for not being more on top of this sooner.

OneGladTiger · 03/12/2024 16:46

Welcome @Attheyard! I’m pregnant on the first go too! I’m very grateful and excited but also silly to say did not expect it to be so quick so got a few things in life to sort out to be completely ready. I have a private scan on the 22nd and still waiting to hear anything from the NHS. I’m taking Bassetts pregnancy gummies which is a tasty one a day chewy, but I’m pretty sure the NHS says folic acid and vit D as a minimum so if you get those you should be covered.

I’m also gutted about the smoked salmon 😂 But I know it will all be worth it.

TinkRose · 03/12/2024 17:02

Hi everyone! I’m about 5 weeks now, will be due at the start of August. It’s my second pregnancy, I had a miscarriage earlier this year. I’ve had some bleeding and brown discharge since last week. We were due to start IUI next year - my fertility clinic have been great and did my bloods yesterday and have booked me in for repeat bloods tomorrow because I’m so worried about the bleeding.

Ssazmum · 03/12/2024 17:17

@Attheyard & @OneGladTiger I feel you both on the smoked salmon... not eating that is going to be more of a giveaway with my family than me not drinking!!

It's too early to say but honestly no clue how I'm going to keep this under wraps

Newbie1993 · 28/11/2024 15:19

@LolaJ87 Thankyou for replying to my other thread ❤️
congratulations to all the other BFPs! I’m 4+6 today with my second baby, I also have a son who is nearly two.
I struggling to think positively about this pregnancy as I’ve had light bleeding/brown spotting most days starting from ovulation until now. I only had a few days of brown spotting with my other baby but that was before my BFP. The GP won’t send me for a scan until I’m 7 weeks so I’ve got a couple of weeks of driving myself crazy before I can get an answer! Is anyone else going through the same?

I’ve had brown bleeding for a few days now, it started red and then turned brown. It’s not just on wiping, I’m using liners as well. Fingers crossed for us both!

Hope everything goes ok with your bloods @TinkRose - will be keeping everything crossed!

Thanks!

Moosey898 · 03/12/2024 17:45

@Attheyard @OneGladTiger congratulations! That's amazing it was so quick for you both, from someone on the other side of the fence (4.5 years, 3 miscarriages and counting) I promise that missing the smoked salmon will be so worth it rather than having to wait a long time 😅

Hope everything goes well for everyone - @Attheyard don't worry about the vitamins, as long as you've been taking folic acid as soon as you can that's good, and vitamin D is also recommended (as someone mentioned above) x

Workingmammabear · 03/12/2024 18:29

@Attheyard I spoke to my GP today and she told me folic acid is most important and vitamin D can wait until I can get to the shops :)

@MrsLRT thanks for the advice, I have been prescribed cyclizine which I pick up tomorrow. I'm so relieved. Tonight's dinner is a cola flavoured calippo and a ginger biscuit. I need this nausea to go away!!

sabretoothtigger · 03/12/2024 19:21

Hello, and congratulations everyone! Sticky dust to us all.
I've been lurking for a while, and very tentatively jumping on here. Like a some others here, I've had a few MC so thrilled to get a BFP again. I'm only 4+4 so very early days still.
Anyone else struggling with tiredness through the afternoon, and then waking up at sparrow fart every morning?

redvelvet7 · 03/12/2024 20:06

It’s really nice knowing other people are going through the same journey at the same time. I am 4 weeks 5 days now and find myself thinking about the baby and pregnancy so much. I kind of wish I could stop thinking about it especially when I’m trying to work from home! 18 days until I have an early 7 week scan. All being well, I’ll be telling my family on Christmas Day. I am getting quite painful cramps now and then, and fatigue. No nausea or morning sickness yet, in fact I am eating more than usual.

DragonflyRuby · 03/12/2024 20:25

Welcome @sabretoothtigger sorry about your mc and congratulations on your BFP. I’m wishing sticking beans for us all. 🤞🏼🙏🏻 I’m absolutely shattered by about 8pm (just going to bed now!) and wake up 2/3 times a night and have done for the last few weeks! I’m so tired!

@redvelvet7 I know what you mean, I love thinking about it but also worry it’s taking up too much headspace as I should really be doing other things! I’ve got lots of cramps too but trying to see them as reassuring, my early scan is in 15 days and I feel like time is going so slowly!

Hi @Attheyard and congrats! I think as long as you start taking folic acid as soon as you can you’re fine. Lots of people don’t find out until a few weeks/month after they miss a period! I’m taking Proceive supplements which I really rate but that’s because we were trying to conceive and I spent £70 on 3 months conception supply and found out 2 weeks later I was pregnant!

@Moosey898 Congratulations, I really hope this time is the one for you. I conceived second month of trying but previously had a mc and tried for 4 years with my previous partner including clomid & other drugs for unexplained infertility so I know how draining TTC is when it takes that long. To say I’m struggling to believe this is really happening is an understatement!

OneGladTiger · 03/12/2024 20:47

@Moosey898 You’re so right, I’m so sorry for your losses and difficult journey. Keeping everything crossed for all of us 🤞🏻

greentree16 · 03/12/2024 20:58

Hi all!

Joining the thread as I got my BFP a couple of days ago! Had been cycle 1 on Letrozole with PCOS and having had a chemical back in Apr 23.

Super scared I'll have another chemical and the past two days I've been suffering with period like pains. Is that normal?!

I'll be about 4 weeks so due mid Aug all being well 😊

Moosey898 · 03/12/2024 21:00

@DragonflyRuby I am keeping everything so tightly crossed for you that this one sticks and all goes smoothly xx

sabretoothtigger · 03/12/2024 21:35

Ah congratulations @greentree16 fingers crossed for you. And I always get implantation cramps for a few days, then mild cramps on and off for a few weeks. I always picture the little one burying itself in nicely and making itself at home. Last time I had some pain on the side I ovulated, and had to get scanned to rule out an ectopic. Thankfully everything was in the right place.

Thanks @DragonflyRuby It's not just me then. I've always got really tired in the first few weeks, but with the last pregnancy I slept really well at night. I miss that! This waking up at 3 or 4am is new for me with the pregnancy fatigue.
I'm sorry for your previous difficulties and mc, and can relate about struggling to believe it. This will be my fourth pregnancy and somehow I'm not excited enough to have any of the first trimester anxiety this time, which is quite nice in a way.

@moosey898 fingers crossed this is the one for you too!!

Moosey898 · 03/12/2024 22:16

@sabretoothtigger thank you - is this pregnancy no4 with no children for you too? Really hope this one sticks!

LolaJ87 · 03/12/2024 22:22

Wow, the thread is hopping today! Welcome to our newbies ♥️

I’m taking cheapie Tesco pregnancy multivitamins at the moment, alongside a migraine probiotic I take anyway. I ordered some Pregnacare Max during the Black Friday sale though so I’ll start taking them when they arrive.

I’ve had mild cramps from time to time but like @sabretoothtigger said, I think that’s the embryo bedding down and getting comfy and the uterus starting to stretch out!

My main sleep problem seems to he waking to wee at 5am every morning and then struggling to get back to sleep at all before my son wakes!

Finding it really hard to keep a lid on my excitement. Already wondering if it’s a boy or a girl, daydreaming about next Christmas etc 🥹

@moosey898 yes it is. It's been a long old road. My heart broke for you reading about your journey. And me too, I hope these little ones stick for all of us!
