Hi all! Didn’t see an August thread yet so here we go.

@caramelcappucino I'm sorry to hear that, it really is awful :(

Some other ideas I've come across, in case any are helpful:

  • Could be blood pressure, make sure you get up slowly (check your blood pressure if you can)
  • Lying on my left side (only works while I'm lying down though)
  • Sucking on ice cubes
  • Flat Coca Cola
  • Ginger boiled sweets
  • Eat something before you get out of bed (I have 2 ginger biscuits every morning)
  • Eating little and often (beige, bland food works best)

And of course avoiding any triggers (e.g. smells - cold food might be better than hot food for this).

Good luck & keep us updated x

Hi,
Im 7 weeks today, i am so ill with what i think is the flu, have had a temperature all day and feeling rubbish and im now super anxious that it will harm the baby😤 has anyone else had a similar situation?!

Peachmelbaa · 04/01/2025 19:57

Hi everyone,

Late joiner to the thread here 👋 I’m due 2nd August.

This is my second pregnancy but will be my first baby as my first pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage back in 2023.

It’s taken us a year and a half to concieve this baby after our missed miscarriage. We were just about to start fertility treatment with the NHS so it’s a bit of a ‘miracle pregnancy’. So I’m on progesterone twice daily until 16 weeks to support the pregnancy.

I’ve had three scans so far, on the second scan at 7 weeks I was measuring 5 days behind however at my latest scan at 9+3 I was measuring 9 weeks so baby is catching up and is only 3 days behind now. We also got to see them wiggling their foot which was amazing to see them active this early!

SureLook · 05/01/2025 08:25

Hi all! Another late joiner to the thread. I'm 7+3 with my second, due 21st August. I have a little girl who turned two in November. Generally feeling pretty well so far although I know that can change. Have the NIPT booked for 21st January. I absolutely cannot wait to find out the gender! Hope you're all doing well.

Hi @bsummer I've not been in that situation personally. I would try get to an out of hours GP if you can. Just so they can see if you need antibiotics or not. Have you taken any paracetamol to bring your fever down? I'm sure baby is absolutely fine.

bsummer · 05/01/2025 08:38

@SureLook I went to the ooh yesterday and they said it was viral, my temperature has now settled but i can't stop coughing and im feeling very rubbish and anxious 😤🥹🥺

@bsummer that's great that your temperature has settled. I had Covid at 8 weeks in my first pregnancy and both me and my daughter were absolutely fine. Try not to worry too much. Rest up and take plenty of fluids x

Hi ladies, had my scan at epau this morning due to recurrent previous losses, by my lmp and ovulation I’m 6 weeks but they dated me 5+5, there was a heartbeat which surprised me seeing it that early. I got my bfp on 16th December, is it normal to still measure 2 days behind even after tracking ovulation? When I got my bfp I was 9dpo. Also not experiencing many symptoms still either! I was still on 2-3 when I last did a clearblue test and I should have been on 3+, however they did say at epu this morning these aren’t reliable…

Yay a heartbeat!!!! My understanding is that the measurements are so small at this stage that the difference between days can be mm or fractions of mm so there's a bit of a margin for error. I think 2 days is nothing so I wouldn't worry about it personally.

Tadpolecat · 05/01/2025 10:50

I also wouldn't worry about 2 days difference @Notsure31 my early scan 2 weeks ago resulted in a 12 day difference (measured me as 6 weeks when i thought i was 7+5. I am much more concerned about that, but trying my hardest not to worry. They didn't seem concerned because there was a heartbeat, but I know when I ovulated (i dont ovulate late either) and had a positive test early on. I've no previous losses and 1 succesful pregnancy with my son.

Sorry you have this to worry about. I’m in the same boat as you..
Should have been 6+6 and they measured me 5+0 but with a clear heartbeat. Are they going to rescan for you? It’s such an anxious wait isn’t it. Fingers crossed for both of us!

Tadpolecat · 05/01/2025 14:48

@Confusedmermaid1 it was a private scan but I did tell my local midwifery team and they said EPU won't scan unless bleeding/cramping so looks like I'll be waiting anxiously until my dating scan (this is 2.5 weeks away!). I don't really want to pay for another private scan (although it would hopefully give me an answer one way or another)..
Sorry to hear you're in the same boat. When was your early scan? Is your dating scan soon?

Hope the weeks fly by for you! I haven’t actually registered my pregnancy yet to have a 12 week scan booked in but I estimate it should be mid Feb.. Had two miscarriages last year so EPU are ‘breaking the rules’ and allowing me a rescan on 16th (after I sobbed in the nurses office I don’t think she had the heart to say no 😅). My scan was only Thursday last week so it feels like it’s ages away but going to try and keep busy and stay positive..

Just wanted to say that a few days after I tested positive I ended up with a horrible viral infection with a fever. I was so worried it would impact everything but thankfully all looked good on my 7 week scan (IVF). I hope you're feeling better soon!

Notsure31 · 05/01/2025 20:01

Does anyone know if it’s worth testing hcg levels once there has been a scan and heartbeat seen? No particular reason really other than I’m really anxious due to previous miscarriages, but I know it may not reassure me and might make me feel worse. I’m still freaked out by the clearblue staying on 2-3 despite seeing a scan with heartbeat.

bsummer · 05/01/2025 20:13

@strawberrylaces12 @SureLook thank you both🩷 my fever is back tonight , im going to try and have an early night and hope for the best!
Ive got a early scan booked for Tuesday due to a late loss November 2023 so hopefully that will reassure me🤦🏼‍♀️ its taken a year to conceive again and can't believe ive come down with the flu now !

NatMarshalll · 05/01/2025 21:19

Another late joiner here- found out last Monday we’re expecting, which was a total surprise! There will be a nearly 14 year age gap between my son and his new sibling, and first baby for my DH (who has raised my son for 10 years as his own) so there’s a lot of nerves and excitement to be doing this all again.

Currently 6+4 based on last period dates, so tomorrow I need to get booking some appointments. Hope everybody is feeling ok this evening.

@NatMarshalll congratulations, what a lovely surprise!

greentree16 · 06/01/2025 09:07

How is everyone coping with fatigue? Coming up to 8.5 weeks and whilst I have nausea and thrown up a few times, it's the fatigue which is really bringing me down.

I have no idea how to get through the working week, I feel constantly drained and slept most of the weekend. I know it will pass but right now I feel totally dependent on my partner.

I'm 8 weeks (as of yesterday) and the fatigue is definitely my worst/strongest symptom. My wife has taken on a lot more of the household jobs and I'm just trying to relax and nap where I can if needed. We've just told our closest family and closest friends too so I feel like plans with them can be more flexible and low key as they know I've been really tired. If you feel comfortable doing so then maybe let your manager know. Mine has known we've been going through the fertility treatment process for a while, and has put quite a lot in place to help where possible.

I have read that the first trimester is especially hard with fatigue etc but no one/not many people know so you end up trying to carry on like normal and that everything is fine.

Oli16 · 06/01/2025 10:06

I’m 8 weeks and so tired and look like death warmed up! I’m also crying daily which is exhausting. Very flat / low moods and feeling down. Wish I felt happier and more energetic! Had a 7 week scan and saw baby’s heartbeat which was surreal. Should be due middle of Aug!

Blakethedrake · 06/01/2025 11:00

I’m just over 6 weeks. We had our first scan last week and we saw the heartbeat 💓 I’ve had two previous miscarriages so this is the first time we’ve had a positive scan.
I am having scans every couple of weeks 🤞

I am so so exhausted it feels like I’m coming down with the flu or a hangover which doesn’t improve with sleep. I’m sleeping 9+ hours.
i have another week off work before I go back (work in a uni setting hence the longer holiday).

I also want to throw up all the time.

no idea how I’ll get through a normal working week.

i feel lazy though for not getting out of bed this morning but I also feel like death.

just remember we’re growing an actual human being which takes its toll x

30STMK · 06/01/2025 12:05

Hellooo, late to party but currently 8+6. Had an early reassurance scan last week & heard the heartbeat which made me feel so much better! The reason I booked the scan was due to loss of symptoms however the day after my scan the sickness has been terrible so I feel like I’ve jinxed myself, constantly eating to stop myself feeling sick & it’s getting me down already 😩 x

NatMarshalll · 07/01/2025 09:16

Is anyone / has anyone gone through this fairly symptomless and things be ok? My last two pregnancies (15 and 13 years ago) I was so sick I couldn’t stand by 6 weeks and it was horrendous.
This time aside from achy period type feelings in my legs, sore (and bigger) boobs and being a bit tired there’s been nothing. No sickness, no nausea, no aversion to smells.. at times I don’t even feel pregnant and it’s so disconcerting. 6+6 today so a fair wait for our scan!

30STMK · 07/01/2025 11:50

@NatMarshalll i was like this I was worried as with my daughter I had bad sickness the whole way through but nothing this time until as soon as I hit 8 weeks the sickness has arrived full force…
