Hi all! Didn’t see an August thread yet so here we go.

I got my BFP today and my EDD is 2nd of August next year.

I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

Welcome to all other August mums-to-be and please introduce yourselves! ♥️

Congratulations!! I think quite a few of us have had early scans mine is on the 11th just for reassurance but there are some people who are also waiting till they have their 12 week scans

Thank you! I guess with my situation I've just had a scan at 7 weeks with it being IVF and I was wondering about having one again at like 9 or 10 weeks and then the usual 12/13 weeks one. But maybe it's overkill with scans then? 😅

Hi there, could I join please? I'm due mid August. Had quite a journey to get here (IUI and IVF) with my wife but went for the early pregnancy IVF scan this morning and saw the heartbeat and all looking good. Currently just over 7 weeks pregnant 😊

Is anyone having private scans? The nurse today at the scan advised against too many scans/ideally just waiting until the 12 week scan now due to the ultrasounds. I'd never heard of that but I guess there might be a slight risk to too much exposure. So now I'm not sure if I should have one in between now and 12 weeks or just wait. I think I'm just more anxious due to the journey we've been to get here!

Hello! I'm having an IVF baby and have another scan with our clinic at 8 weeks, in addition to the one at 6 weeks which I had today. So perhaps you could ask your clinic why they don't do the extra one?

It might be because my scan wasn't until 7 weeks (due to Christmas I think) and they said ideally you'd want 2 weeks minimum between scans. I don't mind at all paying for a private scan but more just thinking about if there is any risk? I'm not sure if I'm just over thinking it now!

OneGladTiger · 30/12/2024 17:22

@Attheyard how did your scan go today? I’m 9+1 now and just got my 12 week scan appointment through!

I think if you wanted to book one at 9 or 10 weeks just to put your mind at rest before the 12 week scan it would be fine

Anyone having problems with feeling really dizzy/like you’re going to pass out? Been happening today (5.5 weeks) and it’s worried me! Hope you’re all keeping okay !

Attheyard · 30/12/2024 18:43

@OneGladTiger it went well thank you! I’m measuring a little “behind” my LMP by a few days but they aren’t worried because I have long and irregular cycles and wasn’t tracking ovulation. Saw a little heartbeat and the guesstimated due date is around 10th August. I’m going to cross my fingers and hope until the 12 week scan now, I have my midwife appointment next week too.

I have been having the odd dizzy spell where the whole room spins I'm not sure why it's not happening very often maybe a couple of times a day

RW269 · 30/12/2024 19:46

@Nikkix86 I ended up venturing to google in a panic which I swear is usually never a good thing but at least this time it says it can happen cause your bloods all over doing things. Feel a bit less panicky about it haha!

Meeting · 30/12/2024 20:00

Just realised that last NYE I was heavily pregnant, and this year I'm newly pregnant how crazy is that?!

With my first I could still wear my normal jeans past 5 months, but I already feel like my belly is bigger this time at 8.5 weeks. I wonder if that's just due to Christmas though 😂

OneGladTiger · 30/12/2024 20:07

@Attheyard That’s great news congrats! So happy for you 😊

caramelcappucino · 30/12/2024 22:11

Anyone else feeling a mixture of light-headedness like the room is spinning with slight nausea and indigestion? I slept 12 hours last night just woke up now from a nap as I dozed off earlier and now I’m awake feeling very crappy with a migraine. It’s like a hangover feeling but without actually having any alcohol it’s the weirdest thing, I did not feel any of these symptoms with my first baby so this is all new to me, my first was like a textbook pregnancy and definitely didn’t feel like I have been hit by a bus :( sorry just clearly feeling rather sorry for myself. Hope everyone’s having a lovely evening x

Yesss! This! I’m about 3 rennies deep and on and off dizzy. Nice to know it’s not just one of us though! Hope you’re feeling a bit better soon! Our little bundles of joy will all be worth it come august! ✨

caramelcappucino · 30/12/2024 14:05

Same! But then again we weren’t running around with toddlers so maybe that could be it? Or maybe the gender plays a role? I don’t know but I thank god I have support otherwise I’d be a mess.

How old is your toddler?

So pleased not just me, unsure how I feel about going back to work after christmas!

You are not alone for sure I’m right there with you! You are absolutely right. It will be so worth it when the cutest little bubba will be wrapped like a bundle of joy in our arms and all of these feelings were feeling now will feel like a distant memory and off we will go into a new adventure with a new set of rewarding challenges, motherhood truly is a beautiful experience in the end ✨ thank you for that reminder, I really needed it! X

3 and yours? I feel very sensitive to noises so she seems louder to me than what she normally is but I’m sure she isn’t it must be the hormones playing tricks!

Oh me too! I honestly don’t know how I will manage. I go back to uni and I have over 15,000 words in dissertations that I need to complete on a deadline and computer screens are making me want to 🤢. No advice sending you solidarity! X

Mine is 20 months! I can't complain all but the lack of napping due to not being at nursery isn't ideal!

Oh that is quite young! Do you have support? When are they back at nursery? I hope it gets better for you ✨

Back on 2nd and husband and I have 2nd and 3rd solo.

Small gap will be hard but I wanted a second by the time I'm 40, October next year.

Hoping once back at nursery/work it'll be easier?!

Will 100 be easier once everyone is back in the swing of routine, the time in between Christmas and NY always feels a bit weird but just enjoy the time off you have now and know that this feeling is temporary it will pass ✨💐

Hope so! Also I think once we've had our scan and have made the news public! At the moment only rents, boss and a couple of friends know.

Kindafreakingouthere · 01/01/2025 11:32

Happy new year, hope everyone is keeping well!
I've been exhausted, nauseous and have the occasional dizziness too but thankfully haven't actually been sick (yet!)
I think I'm 5+5, not planning any scans until the 12 week one though as that's what I did with my 1st.
My wee one is 13months...I've been on mat leave since November 23 and then used some annual leave to get me to January but I will be going back to work on Tuesday and I'm dreading it!! Already so exhausted...it is helping slightly thinking that I'll be back on mat leave later in the year though 😂

Hi all,

How is everyone coping with first trimester anxiety at the moment? I'm 7+5 and so nervous that something is going to go wrong. Had a 6 week scan with a heartbeat and have another on Friday as we're under a fertility clinic but I can't stop worrying that I'll miscarry. Any tips?!

strawberrylaces12 · 01/01/2025 12:04

Hope everyone had a lovely start to the new year! 🥳

I'm 7 and a bit weeks pregnant and seem to get brief sharp pain when I sneeze. Anyone else experiencing this? I've had a quick look online and it seems quite normal but it's always a bit startling when it happens!

I've been the same! Saw the heartbeat on Monday but convinced something will go wrong between now and the 12 week scan, I think probably just because it's taken quite a journey with lots of disappointment to get here. I'm not sure how helpful this is but I've been using this when I've been anxious: https://datayze.com/miscarriage-reassurer - not sure how accurate it is but I do find comfort from the risk going down and down as time goes on 😊
