Hi all! Didn’t see an August thread yet so here we go.

I got my BFP today and my EDD is 2nd of August next year.

I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

Welcome to all other August mums-to-be and please introduce yourselves! ♥️

Hello! I think I’d like to join too. I say think, because I’m still a bit apprehensive and nervous about it all not going to plan. I’m 37, first baby and it’s all been a bit too easy. Rationalised today that writing a Mumsnet post wasn’t going to change anything. I really want to to be excited but I can’t be just yet! I’m not sure when you can be?!

I am literally pretending nothing has changed and happening at the moment - aside from not drinking (don’t want to anyway).

My tracking app thinks I’m 6+6 but you don’t know until the scans! Husband very against again early scans (and Dr Google), is very positive and wants to deal with things as they come. He’s so calm I respect that. I think we will tell my Mum this weekend (I’ll be 7 weeks and 3rd grand child so less hysterical) then MIL at 12 week scan. FIL is a gynae and will be unbothered.

I have extremely sore boobs (usually a nice little B/C cup), having to sleep in sports bras and have a lot of discharge but otherwise I feel really good! This is really worrying me! Hope it’s all cooking okay in there. I get comfortable cramps.

But - if something happens I can’t change it so I’m getting it out there 😊

So - my plan was going to be wait until 8 weeks then self refer for an appointment. We are relocating and moving house soon so I’ve found a hospital in the new area!

Already panicking about telling work — waiting on a formal offer for a new job / team in same company 😬 but it is what it is!

Edited

Tentative congratulations @Toppstileslover !

I totally understand about work, I was similar with my first and waited to tell them until I couldn't hide it at about 18 weeks but they were totally fine!

I'd personally self refer a bit earlier as your first appointment is usually 8-10 weeks and they can take a while but totally up to you!

I completely understand the hesitation about getting excited, after one child and one MC I go with celebrating each 'stage' now - like a positive pregnancy test is a win! I wish I'd done that with my MC as I was so hesitant about getting excited that it was almost like we tried to ignore it was happening and then the MC was a bit harder to process, because what have you lost? Except it felt like a loss (I don't know if that makes sense!) so this time I'm taking each positive step as a win, they each need to happen to end up with a lovely baby at the end!

We went out for a Chinese when I got my positive test, silly but felt like something to acknowledge it?!

Best of luck, I found these early weeks the hardest when people don't know!

@Oli16 aww congrats! So exciting! I managed okay with booze as my family aren’t huge drinkers (although NYE will be harder, we’ve got tickets to an event with a big group of friends) but dodging patè has been haaaard! Enjoy telling your family tomorrow, they’ll be delighted 😁

Avoiding the Brie and cheeses over Christmas was the hardest thing! I already can’t wait to eat it all next Christmas 😅.

Toppstileslover · 28/12/2024 16:59

Oh my goodness! So after posting that I had a mini breakdown to OH (got upset about being pregnant / life changing) then I thought I was going to be 7 weeks tomorrow — and we are going to my Mum’s who a) likes to share a bottle with dinner b) usually very trustworthy so was going to tell her.

So booked an early reassurance scan for today very last minute… well these early reassurance scans aren’t very reassuring are they?!

I thought I was 6+6 today so booked two sessions and went. Ended up having to have an ultrasound and transvaginal. They thought I was 6 weeks so a week behind. I thought they said I had a large gestational sac (don’t google this ever!) and no heartbeat yet but think that’s normal at that week
So now I feel crap. Whatever will be will be!

Going back in 2 weeks hope it’s had a growth spurt and a booming heart.

my FIL is an obstetrician (as weirdly is my brother but he had a baby literally last night) so we are going to send him the report. Have kinda resigned myself to a likely MC now. Must try and stay positive.

thank you @Harriet1989 — let’s see what happens! I think I was going to try and wait until around then. I’m very active, fit, ride and do a lot of Pilates so hopefully it’ll stay in 😂

Notsure31 · 29/12/2024 12:22

Anyone had a scan from EPU at 6 weeks exactly? They booked me in for then based on my cycle as my EPU give early scans to women with recurrent miscarriage history. My scan is on the 4th Jan, pretty sure I ovulated on 07/12/24 as was ovulation testing, and I had a faint bfp on 16/12/24. I’m a bit worried if implantation was a day or two late they may not be able to see and ask me to come back in a week? I’d rather not have that anxious week wait, this happened with one of my previous pregnancies which turned out to be a blighted ovum.

CandyCane457 · 29/12/2024 14:41

Hope everyone is doing okay!

Im 7 and a half weeks and haven’t really had any symptoms but today I’ve been very emotional, lethargic and overwhelmed… has anyone else experienced this?

Boyfriend and I have stayed at mum and dads for a couple of days over Christmas ans we’re heading back home today.

I had ZERO energy to pack up all my presents and clothes, mum and boyfriend were very helpful but I just felt like crying as I tried to pack things because I just couldn’t be bothered. Then as we started getting ready to leave I just burst into tears unexpectedly, thinking about all the unpacking we’d have to do when we got home, a Sunday afternoon food shop as we have nothing in etc. I hate crying in front of my mum as I don’t like to worry her!

Anyway all is well now, boyfriend has just gone to the local co-op for some food bits for us tonight whilst I’ve been made to sit and a have a cup of tea and relax for a few mins before we head off back home (only an hour journey).

Feel like I’m being very dramatic but I’ve just got so worked up over nothing, and I’ve not got much of an appetite so probably could do with a bit more food in me! Anyone else felt like this?

Hey our dates are exactly the same!
I have an early scan at EPU on the 3rd of Jan. I’ll be 6 weeks or so and the midwife booked it in so I wouldn’t worry. They wouldn’t bother with a scan and booking it in on the date they gave you if they didn’t know what they are doing.

good luck. I’ve never had a scan with a heartbeat so I’m hoping this time I’m lucky 🙏

Just joining....I'm 7 weeks pregnant with #2.

#1 is 20 months old. During first pregnancy I was working from home in trimester 1 and it was summer.

Today I've concluded there Christmas tired, trimester 1 tired but put them together and it's another level. I've been nodding off at 4pm the last 2 days!

caramelcappucino · 30/12/2024 04:54

So so so tired. I can relate to the sheer exhaustion.

Glad it's not just me! I don't remember being this tired the first time!

Lollylei · 30/12/2024 08:36

@CandyCane457 a couple of weeks ago, I cried regularly because I felt so exhausted I felt as though I couldn’t do anything! Also completely went off all food and had no appetite. Currently 9+2 and still tired but not exhausted and have my appetite back. Hoping the same happens for you and your symptoms ease up a bit!

LittleOtter76 · 30/12/2024 08:58

I'm glad it's not just me who feels ready to nod off at any moment!

This is #2 but my daughter is 6 so hard to remember when the tiredness set in last time. I found out a little later then so don't think I would have been aware it was pregnancy related that time. Not sure how I'll cope after Christmas when afternoon naps are harder to come by 😂

Other than sore boobs the tiredness is my only symptom so it could definitely be worse 🙏 keep telling myself that anyway

Thank you so much- this is really reassuring as what you’re describing is exactly how I feel! I was expecting maybe to go off certain foods, but it’s everything! Just have no appetite and there’s nothing I want to eat. And the “so exhausted I felt I couldn’t do anything” is me right now to a t… even just thinking about doing simple tasks exhausts me. Glad to hear it will pass in a couple of weeks though, thank you 😊

Nikkix86 · 30/12/2024 10:36

I'm also suffering with the exhaustion I've had 11 hours sleep the last few nights and still wanted to nap again in the afternoon! Back at work today but luckily I work from home although that's making me feel more tired! Finally got my booking appointment next Thursday on the 9th and then early scan on the 11th the time seems to be dragging!

Row23 · 30/12/2024 12:45

7 weeks today and the exhaustion has hit. I think my nausea his slightly lessened thankfully, but has been replaced by hunger and tiredness. Just popped my toddler down for a nap so I have climbed into bed and should hopefully be able to get a decent nap myself 🤞
Still not heard back from midwives about my booking appt, but with Christmas that’s no surprise. Have a private scan on the 8th to look forward to.

Moosey898 · 30/12/2024 12:50

Absolutely terrified for my scan on Friday at EPU - 10 weeks by period dates, 9+4 going off my last scan dates. Just want Friday to be here already 😢 after 3 MMCs I can't imagine getting out of the first trimester, and given genetic problems I was diagnosed with last month, probability sadly isn't on my side. This is our last try too, so feels like there's so much riding on something completely outside my control.

Attheyard · 30/12/2024 12:54

I have a private scan today, I’m about 8 weeks so hoping for good news. I must admit it is pretty nerve wracking! Feeling pretty tired and nauseous, still super bloated and now I have lovely acne as well. Last night I had mild period like cramping in my uterus and I always get extra spotty before I come on, so of course my mind is worrying about this. Would love to know when the worry stops. Suspect never!

caramelcappucino · 30/12/2024 14:05

JB2021 · 30/12/2024 06:40

Glad it's not just me! I don't remember being this tired the first time!

Same! But then again we weren’t running around with toddlers so maybe that could be it? Or maybe the gender plays a role? I don’t know but I thank god I have support otherwise I’d be a mess.

tpeas · 30/12/2024 14:33

Hi all, had 6 week scan today (due to IVF baby) and all looked good so feeling v relieved. Good luck to those with upcoming scans!

Anyone feeling they are already showing a bit of bump? This is going to be my #2 and I am 7 weeks in and my jeans are already feeling very tight. It's definitely not bloating and no extra Christmas weight as we all had a stomach bug and barely ate in the last 7 days :D

I am definately showing, this is my 4th and I'm not sure how long I can hide it for 🙈 I've been and bought loads of new pairs of jeans because I can't fit in my old ones 😭

Moosey898 · 30/12/2024 16:18

@Epli at that stage baby is far too small and tucked down in your pelvis, so it'll be from other things like bloat (not necessarily your typical bloat where you feel gassy!), because your muscles relax and things move around. But it's way too early for it to actually be baby, they're the size of a blueberry or grape x

strawberrylaces12 · 30/12/2024 16:23

Hi there, could I join please? I'm due mid August. Had quite a journey to get here (IUI and IVF) with my wife but went for the early pregnancy IVF scan this morning and saw the heartbeat and all looking good. Currently just over 7 weeks pregnant 😊

Is anyone having private scans? The nurse today at the scan advised against too many scans/ideally just waiting until the 12 week scan now due to the ultrasounds. I'd never heard of that but I guess there might be a slight risk to too much exposure. So now I'm not sure if I should have one in between now and 12 weeks or just wait. I think I'm just more anxious due to the journey we've been to get here!

Congratulations!! I think quite a few of us have had early scans mine is on the 11th just for reassurance but there are some people who are also waiting till they have their 12 week scans
