I have just found out I am expecting baby number 2 and my due date is 1st May.

Has anyone else found out they are expecting and looking for some company?

I am 12+2 today, scan on Friday and extremely nervous about it. Did have a scan at 7+5 to check for viability as this is IVF pregnancy and everything was fine then. I had a dream last night that I had a baby and then lost (as in mislaid) it somewhere, and then this morning I (inadvertently) opened a thread on here where people were discussing finding a MMC at the 12 week scan. Trying not to see it as an omen 🤦🏼 I’ve had very subtle symptoms which have now mostly gone, though I know that is not an indicator of anything. I’ve been trying to keep really busy and distracted which has been the most effective strategy, but I still get little moments of anxiety a few times a day.

im just hoping for good news and the relief that would come with it on Friday 😔

how are you?

I always have this fear too and often have to take myself off the internet and these forums a bit right before a scan (we have had many this pregnancy due to previous losses) - all I can say is to try and reframe your mind when negative thoughts creep in. I have to remind myself often "today I'm pregnant, and until someone tells me to worry there is no point wasting energy worrying right now"

How is everyone doing ?

I had so much energy yesterday which has been a really nice change! I have the worst acid reflux though! How are you?

Yes you are absolutely right! Staying off the internet is definitely helpful at these crunch moments!

BrightGoose · 04/11/2024 10:41

I’m doing abit better still on regular antiemetics. I also told me children as I had a party and some people guessed so I wanted to tell them before they found out. My daughter who is 4 was very happy but my son who is autistic said no no no and asked me to move into another house 🤦‍♀️ I’m sure he’ll come round.

I had a UTI last week and antibiotics made me feel awful but I am prepared to go back to work this week after 5 weeks off sick.

sorry everyone who struggling with anxiety it’s such a horrible time. Is anyone really struggling to sleep. I seem to just be in dream mode all night and not feeling well rested at all. I’m hoping when I go back to work it will tire me out more even thought I’m exhausted anyway

narns · 04/11/2024 10:48

I'm supposed to be around 11+6/12+4 (my LMP vs scan a week or so ago) and I've had an upset tummy since Friday. It's worrying me a bit and I also had some slight pink discharge on wiping on Saturday. I have my dating scan tomorrow.

Has anyone else found a link between anti sickness drugs and diarrhoea? Just because I didn't take my Xonvea yesterday and didn't go all day! I'm wondering if it's time to stop taking it, but I was vomiting yesterday without it.

fingerscrossedmumma · 04/11/2024 11:57

I did a private NIPT test and just got a call to say we are high risk for Down syndrome (but was low risk in the NHS tests)

Does anyone have experience of this? I am sobbing uncontrollably and have no idea what to do next.

BrightGoose · 04/11/2024 12:47

I know ondansatron makes your bowels slow down hun so might be worth switching to that if you’re struggling with the loose stools and you’re out of your first trimester.

@fingerscrossedmumma sorry your going through this do they offer you any advice as to what to do next ?

Herewegoagain8 · 04/11/2024 13:10

@fingerscrossedmumma what number odds did they give you on the NHS? I’ve had high risk before but it was through the usual screening test. Can you go back to the NHS with the NIPT results and ask for a CVS/amnio (depends how many weeks you are as to which they will do). Those are diagnostic tests and will give you a definitive answer either way.

I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this, it really is a tough time, I know how difficult it is x

I just called my midwife and she said "as your test is not on the NHS, there is nothing we can do"

But that seems ridiculous as I am coming to them with a NIPT result that says they have detected an extra chromosome. But they said that wouldn't be accepted as it's not from the NHS?

Well that’s absolutely ridiculous, I’d be calling the hospital directly and kicking up a huge fuss with them. What was your NT measurement and blood screening results like?

Failing getting the NHS to do anything can you look into paying for an amnio privately? I don’t know if that’s a thing as like I say my procedures were all through the NHS but might be worth looking into. As I understand it, it is possible that NIPTs can give you a false positive.

BrightGoose · 04/11/2024 13:53

Do you know if you’ll be under consultant lead care or midwife lead care because I can’t imagine a consultant would willingly ignore the test there must be protocols for this where you had your tests ?

TheBeesKnee · 04/11/2024 15:18

I am 13+6 today and as of this weekend have a very noticeable bump. I still haven't told my family and was at my brother's birthday lunch yesterday and was breathing in the entire time and my mum asked me if I'd lost weight! I didn't have a noticeable bump with my first until 20+ weeks and even then it was like I'd just had a big lunch 🤣

I wasn't drinking, which is unlike me, so I think everyone probably suspects but luckily too polite to say anything yet.

I am so tired as well. In the office today and not getting anything done this afternoon because I'm shattered. The things I would do for a nap...

Consultant lead but I haven't met the consultant yet! I went over the midwife's head and called the screening department at the hospital and they were so sympathetic and said they will get me booked in with fetal medicine.

I'm just absolutely distraught. We've had two losses this year already and this pregnancy for all intents and purposes was going well. My NHS results was a 1 in 1300 chance so having a high risk NIPT was devastating as we thought it would be clear.

I'm also so embarrassed as I've told so many people I'm pregnant.

BrightGoose · 04/11/2024 18:34

Hun there is no need to be embarrassed this is nothing you can control and you throught all was clear given your nhs results also like someone else said it might be a false reading hang on in there take some time to process it and fingers crossed they will see you soon. Good for you for going above the midwife

BrightGoose · 04/11/2024 18:36

I’m glad people were polite to you I had a party (and only just over 10weeks) but I am only very small and have a bump ( I know it’s a bump cuz I haven’t put on any weight) and so many people guessed I was pregnant, guess it was a bad dress choice!

Jess2826 · 05/11/2024 22:17

I'm wondering if anyone can help me as I'm a little confused! I went to the EPAU at 7 weeks for a scan due to previous losses, whilst I was there they gave me progesterone, enough to get me to 12 weeks but told me I need to take it until I'm 16 weeks. I've asked my GP today for another 4 weeks worth to get me to 16 and have been told that they don't prescribe it and I need to speak to my consultant. I don't know if I even have a consultant? Has anyone been through something similar? I initially asked my midwife who told me to ask my GP so I'm completely baffled!

Do you have the badger app? The team looking after you should be listed there, including the consultant in charge.

If they're sending you back and forth could you ask your. Midwife to write a letter to your GP?

Sorry it all sounds so stressful!

BrightGoose · 06/11/2024 03:25

I had the same with my antisickness meds I had to ring epu to issue another prescription

Sierra26 · 06/11/2024 06:49

Anyone being hit with a new level of tiredness at 10-11 weeks? No amount of sleep is helping (7-8hrs solid with just one wake up to wee!) and I’m doing plenty exercise too. Thought tiredness was meant to ease towards end of first trimester after placenta has formed??

Beccaa123 · 06/11/2024 07:03

@Sierra26 that must be tough.
I am 12 weeks today and most of my symptoms started disappearing around 9/10 weeks which was worrying.
I don't seem to be tired through the day as much, but I'm definitely not sleeping well at night.
Remember our bodies are doing an incredible thing, so it's ok to be tired

dies,
Not sure why in posting but im wondering if anyone has been through similar and can offer any advice or anything 🙏
Felling so numb and scared.
Im 40 yrs old with 2 young girls 7 & 5. We recently found out we were pregnant which was a huge shock. After getting to 13 wks, we had our 1st nhs scan tuesday, and we were shocked when they found high level of fluid on babies neck.
We got my bloods done immediately for the combined test.
I got a call that night to go see the consultant the nxt day.
We were at hospital for 4hrs getting a scan and trans v scan. Which confirmed fluis and possible issue with the nasal bone... they wanted me to do a cvs test where i had the needle through my stomach which i had and we should have results in a few days.
Its all been so emotionally draining and im so scared.
Since getting home that evening i got a call with the original blood tests. This shows a high risk of a genetic condition. They explained the numbers and its come back as 1 in 2 of down syndrome, and 1 in 125 edwards/patau syndrome.

Im in such a state of shock i feel numb, every emotion is running through my body and i can hardly sleep.
Just wondering if anyone has been or going through similar? 💔😢 xxx

Did you have an update on this? I got my results back too and am currently in a limbo waiting for an amniocentesis - I am devastated and broken

Noisinmaro · 06/11/2024 07:48

I'm 14+2 weeks, I've NIPT Thursday but nervous now after reading people's results here...its all v stressful.....
I have a bad cough 2 weeks.....got flu jab on the Tuesday started coughing on the Thursday Friday....hopefully because of jab it will run easier on me.....I'm unlucky with viral illness get them alot of winters and run me to the ground...

I can eat now whereas before I couldn't...
Still wearing my usually.clothes but I think I look bit rounder around tummy area if you really looked but no bump otherwise...feel boob got bigger but blouses /shirts etc all still button no bother...
Have told no nobody except boss at work as I had to put it on cert I'm off 4 weeks...I get half pay...so hope I'm back soon and this cough lifts....

LeBonBon · 06/11/2024 08:36

I've got my follow up scan today with the NHS - at around 11w6d they couldn't get an accurate measurement/due date or the screening done. I just feel a sense of dread about it all the time and I don't know why. Last time I felt like this I did go on to have a miscarriage 😞 I didn't feel anything but positive with my first and healthy pregnancy so I'm spiralling a little bit.

Not helped by the fact that I've got another horrible cold virus that has wiped me out again. I knew it was going to be hard with a toddler at nursery this time around, but for anyone with multiple kids - how do you stay healthy and rested? Or is it a lost cause?

I've got a wonderful partner who is a hands on dad, cooks, cleans and looks after us. But I'm still struggling and getting ill all the time.

Zeeha · 06/11/2024 10:08

Hi @Jess2826 I am on progesterone until 16 weeks too. EPU can prescribe it for you. Just call them to ask them to write the prescription for you to collect and then take it straight to the hospital pharmacy ☺️
