I have just found out I am expecting baby number 2 and my due date is 1st May.

Has anyone else found out they are expecting and looking for some company?

@Beccaa123 my scan is on the 12th and I too will be nearer 13 weeks by that point. It still seems so long to wait!
@Blossomofhope I'm exactly the same 10 weeks 4 days today. I managed to get out for walks Saturday and Sunday this weekend and have been feeling so much more normal in the days but yesterday evening the tiredness and nausea really hit me again, today the nausea hasn't really gone away so yes my symptoms have been really stopping and starting for about a week now. I'm a teacher, there is no way I'm going back to work until I'm fully better.

@BoldLemur Ah that’s cool we are at the same stage. Walks def do me good too. I went for a walk yesterday and will try this afternoon if I can. It’s such a rollercoaster isn’t it? How long have you been off work? I was the same as you yesterday - the day was definitely better but evening got worse. I’d love to understand why.

BoldLemur · 28/10/2024 14:08

Yes such a rollercoster. I've been off work since I was 6 weeks pregnant. I spent weeks 7 and 8 pretty much in bed all day, week 9 was marginally better and now I'm in week 10 I feel like I'm slowly coming out of it but it's so up and down. Yeah for some reason I get so sick in the evenings must be to do with a spike in the hormones at that time.

BrightGoose · 28/10/2024 14:08

I’m starting all over I have 0 baby stuff although my youngest is only 4.5 she’ll be 5 when baby is here I feel like it’s back to the beginning and I’m excited. Her brother will be nearly 8 when baby is here he’s not keen on the idea of a baby but he’s autistic n hates crying so that’s his huddle 🤦‍♀️. Im sure he’ll be fine when there here n when we’ve told them he’s got months to prepare himself.

Does anyone know if food aversions go away at all or whether I am doomed this whole pregnancy? I have very severe aversion to certain foods (usually my favourites which makes it harder!) and even the smell of it can put me off all food the rest of the day. Hoping this is one of those things that gets a bit better soon?

I have a serious aversion to chocolate. Anyone who knows me would be stunned! It’s actually horrible when it’s things you normally like as you can’t enjoy eating things that might bring you comfort etc. anyway… in prior pregnancies for me it’s got better but hasn’t fully gone away until I’ve not been pregnant.

I can't remember with my last pregnancy being over 8 years ago 🙈😂 I don't remember my aversions being THIS bad with my other 2 but i'm realpy struggling too so hoping they atleast ease up a bit!

fingerscrossedmumma · 29/10/2024 09:38

@Poster57 I am the exact opposite - I normally have zero sweet tooth and chocolate is top of my cravings list 😂 I LOVE soupy noodles (I'm Chinese so that's honestly most of my diet) and I have a severe aversion to them currently. Can't even think about them without feeling very unwell! I want that to pass!!!

This is so funny because I’m eating A LOT of noodles 😂😂

BrightGoose · 29/10/2024 10:19

Yes noodles sound really good 😂 it’s crazy isn’t it my aversions are to meat and tomato pastas but just the discussion of dinner is a trigger for me too.

fingerscrossedmumma · 29/10/2024 10:20

Hahaha that's amazing! Yeah they opened two new ramen bars near me (I've been so excited for them opening!) and I can't even walk past them! Very gutted 😂

TheBeesKnee · 29/10/2024 10:45

I think you just repress how bad things were! I was saying to my partner that I am really ill this pregnancy and it was so much easier with my first. Our son is 18 months old, mind, do it wasn't even that long ago. My partner goes "are you serious? You wouldn't get out of bed and you were vomiting at least once a day for about 4 months". And up until he reminded me I hadn't actually remembered that 🤣

Toothfairy0113 · 29/10/2024 11:10

Yes, I think if we remembered how bad things were in the beginning we'd never do it again 🤣
I'm really bad with anything that doesn't smell of nothing at the moment.. Having to open windows every time I cook anything and first thing in the morning which is driving husband mad as it's not the warmest here at the moment 😂
I'm really struggling to eat anything i've made, the thought of chicken especially makes me want to heave at the moment (not grrat because we eat chicken most of the time) so eating a lot from out or beige/freezer crap 😩

LeBonBon · 29/10/2024 13:28

My food aversion seems to have worn off slightly (I'm 12w6d today) but I still do have moments where the thought or smell of something sets me off. Unfortunately it is totally random so I don't know when it's going to strike. Had to run and be sick in a Tesco toilet the other week as I could strongly smell the dirt on the fresh veg aisle 😑

Dojo13 · 29/10/2024 13:38

Ramen noodles sound so good right now 😂 I wish I had somewhere nearby I could get those. I’ve also gone off chocolate. Hot drinks too. I had a non-beige meal at the weekend with some vegetables which was great progress for me 😅

I’m now 14w1d and I thought the nausea was getting better but the past couple of days haven’t been great. I don’t tend to get sick every day but I threw up twice yesterday which was my record so far. Hopefully it’ll come to an end soon!

littlestrawberryhat · 29/10/2024 13:40

Im 14 weeks and forcing myself to eat proper dinners as the rest of the day I’m surviving off lemonade and buttered toast. I don’t remember it being this bad first time round and desperate to feel ok again!!

Omg yes! Buttery toast is an essential. I’ve also been craving full fat Coke which I don’t usually drink but it has to be from McDonalds or a pub out the pump 😅 ridiculous what these little beings do to us isn’t it

Toothfairy0113 · 29/10/2024 15:04

I remember with my first craving McDonald's tea.. It had to be from there in one of their paper cups 🤣🤣🤣

I can def relate to the smell/windows open thing. I’d the windows open with the heating on because of the smell of food and he was going mad 😂 … I’ve also got a big aversion to chicken too. Basically anything I used to eat like chicken stir fry, curry etc - I can’t bare the thought of. But I’m back eating salads thankfully!!

Im heading back to work tomorrow after a few weeks off sick. I’m weirdly scared to try work again. Wish me luck! 😅

Just wanted to update, had my 12wk dating scan today and it was amazing! Baby measuring 2 days ahead and super active and wriggly!

So active to the point the sonographer wasn't able to get the NT measurement for the combined screening so I wasn't able to have that. They have offered me quad testing at 16 weeks to test for Down syndrome only which I said yes to (she did say on looks alone the NT looked fine).

I decided to have a private NIPT today anyway as I was contemplating it before and with the quad testing only looking at DS, I know I'd feel more reassured to get all 3 done!

The NIPT was through Concepto (through window to the womb) and will hopefully get the results this week along with the gender! Has anyone else used these before?

Hope everyone's well! Xx

BrightGoose · 29/10/2024 19:28

My scan was fine today measuring as was at around 9+2 was very serreal seeing what looks like a proper baby this time. They saw a bruise which is very close to my cervix and said that’s likely what’s causing the bleeding so nice to have the answer.

rosielu · 29/10/2024 19:55

Hey ladies, hope you are well. Does anyone else feel like they are feeling worse as time goes on? I'm 13+1 today and I feel worse than I have all pregnancy, like I've been hit by a bus, so nauseous, sick and tired, I thought it would it starting to disappear by now 😭

Aw fantastic, so pleased to hear this. I'm 9+2 today also 😊

Loute02 · 29/10/2024 20:50

@rosecbrm I also used them for the NIPT ☺️ did the tests on the Tuesday and got the email with results on the Sunday! Hope it all goes quick for you as well.

rosecbrm · 29/10/2024 20:52

@Loute02 fab, thanks so much! 🤞🏼 xx
