I have just found out I am expecting baby number 2 and my due date is 1st May.

Has anyone else found out they are expecting and looking for some company?

@fingerscrossedmumma you're welcome. It's awful overthinking. I've had a missed miscarriage too and I really find it hard to relax until much later in a pregnancy after going through that.

I've had a lot of spotting, but then also bleeds. The worst bleed was at 6 weeks where I woke up to fresh blood soaked through my underwear and pjs. I honestly thought it was all over, but EPU scanned me that same morning, which thankfully showed there was a strong heartbeat yet no indication of why the bleeding had occurred. I was scanned again twice more after that at the IVF clinic before the private scan which identified the SCH, so my likely cause was hidden for three scans!

This late on in the first trimester the probability of miscarriage does come down a lot. Try to stay positive and please let us know how you get on tomorrow x

Thanks @rosecbrm !
@rosielu I've been quite anxious this pregnancy for some reason and opted to pay for private NIPT. Cost £360 and included : a scan, results for Down, Edwards, Patau, Turner, Klinefelter, Jacob and Triple X syndromes and also gave me the gender ☺️ For the piece of mind, it was worth it for me. Only disappointing bit is I received only a "Low risk" result instead of a % or a number.
It is done with a blood test. At the 12w scan at the NHS they'll do NT measurements and only will offer you the NIPT if you are high risk.
The NHS results came back pretty quickly (within 5 days) in my last pregnancy so the wait is not terrible!

Which service provider/labs did you have these tests done with please? X

Loute02 · 23/10/2024 20:50

@ScarlettSloth I used them https://windowtothewomb.co.uk/private-baby-scan-packages/nipt-packages/
Results came back in 5 days from a lab called Concepto Diagnostics ltd in the UK

Just wanted to do an update that baby is absolutely fine - measuring 4 days ahead (11+6!) and they can't find the source of the bleeding... I guess maybe I'm just one of those people who will spot throughout the pregnancy!

Zeeha · 24/10/2024 12:48

@fingerscrossedmumma that's great news all is well. So happy for you!

Such a relief for you 💛

TheBeesKnee · 24/10/2024 14:25

My 12 week scan is tomorrow and I had a horrible dream last night that they couldn't find a baby at the appointment and then sent me home. I was begging my partner to get me a mobile scanner so that I could look myself but he wouldn't 😭

I've had cramps these past couple of days, but no bleeding, so it's most likely just stretching/growing ligaments but I'm still feeling pretty nervous about tomorrow.

Beccaa123 · 24/10/2024 15:16

Is anyone else just constantly worrying that something will go wrong?
To be honest we never thought me getting pregnant would happen, not naturally anyway.
I had a scan on Monday and baby was measuring 9+3. My 12 week is on the 11th November, I'll be closer to 13 by then going by dates.
I'm just either constantly in disbelief that I'm pregnant or worried that something is wrong. With the lack of symptoms at the moment that definitely is not helping!

BrightGoose · 24/10/2024 16:13

I am the same as you I keep thinking there’s ganna be something wrong for the simple fact that I’ve been pregnant twice before had to healthy (ish) pregnancies and I think surely I can’t be that lucky to have three pregnancies all ok but you just have to believe everything is ok unless told otherwise which is easier said than done.

im glad your scan went well!

I have been severely worried every single day - if I feel awful I believe it's something wrong, if I feel well then I think something must be wrong! Speaking to my midwife has helped and they're referring me to a mental health team to monitor the anxiety (I have pre-existing anxiety anyway!)

I also searched some pregnancy mindfulness videos on YouTube (especially for scanxiety) which has helped a bit!

Not a good news for us today…

My combined test result came back with a higher chance for Down Syndrome (1:99) so we’ve opted to go straight to CVS instead of a NIPT so we can find out for sure.

Will have to drive 2 hours to London next week with our toddler in tow which is stressful on its own, but the hospital near us doesn’t have any availability for another 2 weeks.

I’ve been crying a lot today. It’s just awful 😞

BrightGoose · 24/10/2024 21:54

Aww hun fingers crossed for you x

I'm so so sorry to hear this, does that mean that you have a 98 out of 99 chance that the baby does not have down syndrome? I know a lot of people who have had high probabilities but the baby was healthy, and wishing you the best

My fingers are crossed for you, I've had a fair bit of bleeding and Baby is okay, so I hope the same as true for you. Lots of love

BrightGoose · 25/10/2024 10:40

Thanks cervix was close but evidence of bleeding is there have to wait til Tuesday for a scan. Also have a UTI so another course of antibiotics!

Thank you x

No it’s more like 1 out of 99 chances our baby will have Down Syndrome - like 1%. The cut off point for high chance is 1:150 which is like 0.67%.

I know it doesn’t sound like the odds are too bad but being told you are “high chance” just makes you panic and think of the worst.

Herewegoagain8 · 25/10/2024 12:43

@GraySweatpants Im really sorry you’re dealing with this. I’ve been through it before with a 1/17 chance so I know how awful and stressful it is. We were given a 1/423 chance this time and tbh I’m contemplating still having the amnio given my past as I know I just won’t be able to relax the rest of the pregnancy.

Also any questions, please feel free to ask as I’ve had a CVS before. Sending you my best wishes x

Margaretschlege · 25/10/2024 13:12

My NIPT results came back today after less than two days. Wait, for anybody who's considering having this test. It costs 400 quid where I am.

TheBeesKnee · 25/10/2024 15:08

I had my scan today, measuring 12+3 like I thought. The baby was very wriggly and we saw the heartbeat. I was so nervous going in and nearly crushed poor DP's hand. What a relief.

The sonographer was a bit off colour about the age gap though - baby will be due the day after my toddler turns 2. However I'm very happy and not going to let her piss on my chips!

narns · 25/10/2024 16:19

Congratulations @TheBeesKnee! We had a scan today as telling family next week, we were given a due date of the day after our DD turns 2! However I think they over measured. I think I'm 10+3, they think I'm 11+1! Will confirm at the 12 week scan x

Poster57 · 25/10/2024 16:19

@TheBeesKnee i have 22 months between my first two and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. It’s hard work but it’s so so worth it - you’ll be fine ☺️☺️

BoldLemur · 25/10/2024 19:12

Its interesting hearing all your experiences with these tests for certain conditions. I'm really in two minds whether to get the test done at all. It seems like it can create a lot of worry and concern when everything might be fine. The CVS test to know for sure also seems quite invasive so not sure i would want to go down that route. Is anyone else choosing not to get the combined test done? I don't know what to do
