I have just found out I am expecting baby number 2 and my due date is 1st May.

Has anyone else found out they are expecting and looking for some company?

Fingers crossed for your scans today ladies @Quickdraw23 @Tigerlilli 🩷

I've got my next scan at the EPU on Wednesday (should be around 9 weeks) and am dreading it! Everything was fine at our scan last week, but I just have this horrible feeling the heartbeat will have stopped - guess that's what pregnancy after loss does to you! Praying it's positive though.

My nausea seems to have eased a tiny bit recently and I think that's what's throwing me off, despite still being super tired and super sore boobs!

Just in case this helps - my pregnancy symptoms completely disappeared at 8 weeks exactly and I started spotting. I was so convinced it was another loss, my husband and I were already planning how we would tell work once again we needed time off!

Went for a scan and everything is looking good!

Quickdraw23 · 03/10/2024 19:52

Great news @Tigerlilli but yeesh that sounds very stressful and upsetting. I hope you’re ok.

@rosecbrm my nausea is also really intermittent. It totally understandable that you would be nervous after your previous experience. I don’t know if it helps but the nurse who did my scan today told me that at this stage (about 7-8 weeks) if you’ve had a reassuring viability scan then chance of miscarriage really does plummet. Really wishing you all the best for your next scan x

rosecbrm · 03/10/2024 19:53

Sounds like a worrying day @Tigerlilli but glad all was ok in the end 🩷

Also glad your scan went really well @Quickdraw23 ! Thank you for that reassurance that is really good to know. How are you feeling now? Xx

rosecbrm · 03/10/2024 19:55

@fingerscrossedmumma thanks lovely that's good to know!

Glad your scan went well! 🩷

Quickdraw23 · 03/10/2024 19:55

@rosecbrm im pretty hungry and have sent my partner out to get fish and chips 😂

rosecbrm · 03/10/2024 20:01

@Quickdraw23 sounds perfect to me! 😂

9 weeks tomorrow and I've caved this morning. I've rang the doctors for anti sickness medicine. The doctor was lovely and said we shouldn't accept feeling like this when they can help us. I can hardly work for feeling so sick. Normally eating often and regularly helps me, but now eating is off putting! To top it off, the nausea was so bad I hardly slept last night and I had great delight in cleaning the loo at 3am for my abstract artwork 🤮 Fingers crossed the tablets work quickly once I have them. Last time they helped within a day! 🤞

Did you get a prescription for these? I'm 9+2 and struggling bad - vomiting 3-4 times if I'm lucky and it's so bad sometimes I can't even keep liquid down.

My 1st pregnancy was no where near as bad as this!

rosecbrm · 04/10/2024 18:25

I definitely spoke to soon my nausea slightly easing, it seems to have ramped up the past day or 2, luckily no actual vomiting yet and I'm praying it stays like that as I'm a bit of an emetephobe! 🙏🤞🏼

rosecbrm · 04/10/2024 18:27

@LeBonBon I'm not an expert by any means but have you spoken to your GP? I had a friend who struggled like this and unfortunately had hypremesis gravidarum!
Hope they can help sort you out if you do speak to them lovely x

RichTeaCheddars · 04/10/2024 18:31

@Zeeha that's good you've spoke to your doctor. What anti sickness meds did they prescribe?
@LeBonBon have you spoken with your GP about the amount you are vomitting? If you can't even keep liquids down you are at risk of dehydration.

I had Hyperemesis Gravidarum in my last pregnancy and I'm 6 weeks now, can feel the nausea ramping up. I'm already taking cyclizine and will add in Xonvea from tonight

Zeeha · 04/10/2024 18:35

@LeBonBon yes the doctor was more than happy to prescribe the tablets that worked for me last time and said if they don't work this time then just to ring back as there's plenty more options they can try. No point suffering if there's medicine to help! @RichTeaCheddars It's Prochlorperazine that I'm trying again 😊

LeBonBon · 04/10/2024 18:35

@RichTeaCheddars and @rosecbrm
I'll call the GP Monday
I had my booking appointment on Wednesday and told the midwife but she didn't say anything about what to actually do about it! Seems to be getting worse rather than better though.

tb4122 · 04/10/2024 19:48

I had a scan this week as had right sided pain and they wanted to rule out an ectopic. Luckily no ectopic found, but they did find twins! So my due date is in May but we may well not get there now Grin

narns · 04/10/2024 20:56

@tb4122 wow that's amazing! Do twins run in your family? X

rosecbrm · 04/10/2024 21:00

Wow congratulations @tb4122 xx

Tigerlilli · 05/10/2024 00:06

Wow, congrats @tb4122 ! How are you feeling about twins?

narns · 05/10/2024 10:18

I caved and had a scan this morning at 7+4. All good! They got everything they needed externally so there was no need for an internal but that meant that we didn't get a great look at baby. Feeling very relieved though x

Tigerlilli · 05/10/2024 23:13

That’s great news @narns

BoldLemur · 06/10/2024 16:18

Hello everyone! I'm 7 weeks pregnant and feeling really sick. Just wondering if anyone has tried compression socks for morning sickness? Was just reading about them being effective so I have just put some on today. has anyone else tried them yet? I can't be dealing with this sickness anymore 😫

MrsKurz · 06/10/2024 19:33

my nausea has just started to ramp up today. I’d still say it’s mild at this point, but definitely there today

Quickdraw23 · 06/10/2024 19:39

Jumping in on the nausea thing. I’m 8 weeks today, so far it has been controllable by snacking but now it’s not going away even when I eat something. Will try compression socks and report back!

narns · 06/10/2024 20:09

My nausea has been pretty nasty and an all day affair. Last pregnancy I only had it in the mornings and would perk up after food! This time I feel like I have food aversions to everything 🤢

Those who have sought medication, does that only tackle the vomiting or does it help ease the nausea too? I'm not being sick every day (probably every other day) but it's the nausea that's killing me. Throwing up doesn't seem to ease it at all!

Those who have other babies, did you notice a change in sickness correlating to the sex of the baby? My DH keeps saying it's probably a boy because it's so different this time.

Zeeha · 06/10/2024 20:47

Hi @narns yes the medications can help nausea as well. I'm feeling a lot better already two days after starting prochlorperazine. I'm not very hungry, but I can actually function most of the time for not feeling like I'm stranded in the sea!

Poster57 · 06/10/2024 20:50

All day nausea here too. Only sick every second day or so. Sometimes an upset tummy too. I had HG with my last and aside from being miserable to feel like this anyway it’s gives me the fear of being like that again. I’m 9+2 now so I’m hoping I’m out the danger zone of it getting quite that bad. I’ve got cyclazine and prochloperazine which should work for nausea too but I’m not taking it very often as I don’t find a massive benefit in it. I’m taking B6 too which I think might be helping. The headache I have tonight is horrible. I seem to be prone to them in pregnancy

@narns I’ve got 1 boy and 1 girl. Sickness/nausea was a lot worse with my girl but I’m really not sure if it’s sex related or whether it could be; increased age; having a toddler to run after; etc etc. I do wonder at times though.
