I have just found out I am expecting baby number 2 and my due date is 1st May.

Has anyone else found out they are expecting and looking for some company?

Hi been lurking here I’m 6+4 today had scan last week n put me a few days behind (as expected) no pole but yok sac there have to go back this week for a scan again.

nausea ramped up over the weekend dry heaving all morning and horrific nausea all day I cannot function. This is my third pregnancy and it’s got worse with each pregnancy, going to get some medication as I cannot cope like this.

Tigerlilli · 07/10/2024 18:15

Congratulations @BrightGoose hope all goes well at your re-scan.

I’ve had more pink/brown discharge/spotting today. Back for re-scan on Friday. It’s such a worry, isn’t it!

MrsKurz · 06/10/2024 19:33

my nausea has just started to ramp up today. I’d still say it’s mild at this point, but definitely there today

Same here, also really noticing it at night when I’m trying to sleep. Still nothing on my last pregnancy but still unpleasant. And there is not a drink on this earth that will cure my thirst.

BrightGoose · 07/10/2024 18:29

Yes such a worry I spotted with both my other children and even had fresh red bleed with my last. I have been spotting since last Monday but it is minimal.

im freezing cold also I no someone else said they were also freezing all the time. I just can’t believe how awful I feel and so early on I had HG with my last but it wasn’t the sickness that was the issue it was the nausea and I lost so much weight.

hope everyone else is managing to get through this difficult stage

Tigerlilli · 07/10/2024 19:12

@BrightGoose im exactly the same, I feel freezing all day long, and at night it’s worse! I’ve been taking hot water bottles to bed 🤣

Right! I’m so thirsty! Mines definitely worse in the afternoon/evening. And I have that horrible bitter/metallic taste in my mouth in the afternoons too. Scan in 3 days… feeling nervous but a little more reassured now I’m feeling something

fingerscrossedmumma · 07/10/2024 21:25

I see those stories about people who don't find out they're pregnant until they give birth and I just wonder how that's possible.... I am SO tired and nauseous constantly currently 😂

Thirst can be a symptom of gestational diabetes! Do you have any risk factors?

This is coming from someone on her second GD pregnancy.

Same!! The most overwhelming physical experience of my life

I don’t, and I’m only 7 weeks, wouldn’t it be too early? I have my first apt on Thursday and here they measure blood sugar at every appt so if there’s a problem hopefully they’ll see it 🤞

rosecbrm · 08/10/2024 07:26

Morning ladies! Hope everyone is well.

I'll be 9w tomorrow based on LMP or 8w6d based on scan 2 weeks ago.

Also always thirsty! I've read that's really common in early pregnancy due to the increased blood flow and extra work from the kidneys. I also literally go to the toilet constantly, which has ramped up again in the last week.

Nausea is on and off currently, but when I do get it I get it bad! Also super sore boobs.

Got my second scan tomorrow at the EPU and I'm terrified, so worried the heartbeat will have stopped or something bad but I'm really praying it's positive!

Take care all x

Sierra26 · 08/10/2024 07:31

I’m 6+5 and also freezing all the time! Getting tired in the afternoon and then very early in the evening. No nausea but volatile blood sugar levels, have to snack every hour or I get really shakey. I’ve lost a little weight but I’m eating loads and not vomiting, I think we have a very hungry embryo 😂

We had a private scan on Sat at 6+2 (I couldn’t bear not knowing if this was real or not!) and we have an embryo measuring right on dates with a heartbeat. Next scan is next week at 8wks (ivf clinic). Already had both my booking in appt and my 12wk scan date through from my midwife (SW London).

i had some spotting around 5 weeks and then more a few days ago, but its stopped again. It’s really scary (the first time I was convinced it was just my period starting and had a meltdown) but trying to tell myself now it’s often completely normal. Those of you going through it too have my sympathies!

BoldLemur · 08/10/2024 08:15

Feeling for everyone. 1st trimester is such an intense experience physically and emotionally. Update on the compression stockings. So I wore them yesterday, put them on before I got out of bed and wore them all day. I was still sick in the morning but felt a lot more perky all day and definitely had less general nausea. It might just be a coincidence but I'm going to keep them on today and see what happens, would be so amazing if they continue to work.

BoldLemur · 08/10/2024 08:17

In terms of other symptoms I am also freezing cold in the day and when I go to bed but then wake up in horrible hot sweats during the night.... lovely.

Loute02 · 08/10/2024 09:00

Hello ladies! I'm 9+5 today and time seems soooo long before my next scan! Had one at 7w and seen the heartbeat and everything was fine but then had some spotting on and off for a week at 8w. I called the EPU a couple of times but my symptoms don't seem to trigger their threshold for a scan. I had my booking appointment already and have my 12w scan scheduled for 25th of October. However I booked a private scan + NIPT appointment next week.
I also have nausea every other day and definitely have the nightly hot sweats like you @BoldLemur ! My first pregnancy was a breeze without any symptoms so can confirm that every pregnancy is different 😆

Quickdraw23 · 08/10/2024 12:49

Thinking of you all! I totally empathise with people wanting to check in with extra scans all the time. Mine was only on Thursday and already I wish I was am having another soon. I wasn’t prepared for how kind of “automatic” early pregnancy would feel - no conscious knowledge of what’s going on in there. So weird!

how was it getting referred for booking appointments?

I did my self referral online, as that’s what you do in my area. I’ve so far had two autogenerated emails encouraging me to download the app that they use for pregnancy notes, but I can’t use it till I get a passcode from my midwife 😂

still waiting for a first appointment date, I am 8w3d today. They say to contact them if you haven’t head by the time you are 9 weeks, so I guess I’ll just chase if I have to.

Margaretschlege · 08/10/2024 13:26

I have also had the fear of spotting and bleeding, and went for a private scan. As with PP EPU did not want to scan me. Feeling very ill and tired and wish I could go to sleep until I was at week 18 when my nausea usually goes away!

MrsKurz · 08/10/2024 14:50

I have my first scan on Thursday. My symptoms have kicked in now but still mild. I am still feeling a bit anxious about it all, not knowing what’s going on, but I did a test this morning and got a proper dye stealer. Anyone else crazy like me and still testing?!

The constant nausea is killing me. Seriously, I don't know how those with 9-5jobs do it. Im only 8wks1 and I'm totally over the whole pregnancy already. Just want to skip to the part where I hold the baby.

I self referred yesterday and they called me today and gave me an appointment for this Friday. Pretty surprised how quick that was, but excited to finally get the ball rolling.

Can a pharmacist issue nausea medication without a prescription?

BrightGoose · 08/10/2024 17:36

No in the uk a pharmacy shouldn’t give pregnant people medication for nausea and not all antiemetics are suitable pregnancy it should be a doctor to prescribe them. Also medication is free when you’re pregnant so you wouldn’t need to pay.
today was the first day I was actually sick and it was awful and still did not relieve the day long nausea.
I'm not working at the minute but I do 12 hour shifts and I have no idea how I’m going to go back to work next week I am dreading it

BoldLemur · 08/10/2024 17:39

@Monday55 I feel the same at the moment. I'm trying to remember that second trimester is better (well it was for me last time) and gets super exciting once you know everything is fine with baby. I just want to hibernate until this sickness stops. I tried to go for a walk today but it made me feel terrible, no way could I be right working now

RichTeaCheddars · 08/10/2024 17:39

@BrightGoose You can't get free prescriptions until you have the Matb1 form. You might be able to claim the cost back after you get it.

@Monday55 Buccal prochlorperazine is available OTC but a pharmacist won't sell it to you when they know it's for a pregnant person. Have you asked your GP? What did they say?

RichTeaCheddars · 08/10/2024 17:41

Actually ignore that. I've just looked it up and it seems you can do it sooner if GP/midwife will do it for you.

BoldLemur · 08/10/2024 17:41

@BrightGoose could you get signed of work? That's what I have had do, the doctor signed me off without hesitation

BrightGoose · 08/10/2024 17:43

Ahh that must have changed recently as I defo had mine before my mat b one form as I was really poorly in my previous pregnancy.
I have to attend the GP tomorrow at 9.30 which will be interesting as that was the exact time I was sick this morning.
