Hi! I've made a thread today too but no responses yet. I've just found out today with a glaringly positive test! It's a miracle for us as we previously had IVF for our little girl (15 months)

Congratulations. How many dpo are you?

I've worked out my DD to 8/3 but all mine have been early. So looking at late Feb date

I'm 7 DPO today, so who knows, maybe I'll be joining this group 'officially'!

I have no idea on DPO. I have PCOS and very irregular cycles - and we weren't trying as we thought it couldn't happen without help!
All I know is I got a BFN last Thursday and a dye stealer yesterday 😂

I had a c section last time and will again, so I might be looking at late Feb too

Melusina123 · 22/06/2024 06:26

Edging in here cautiously to mark my place as I got a BFP this morning, but I have a history of loss (2MC, one wonderful LO) and I'm now 38 so I'll be holding my breath for a bit and lurking before it feels real. ❤️ EDD is 4 March.

Kingofthetyrantlizards · 22/06/2024 07:55

Hi Ladies! I got my +ve test on Thursday morning (took it in the loos at work as I couldn't wait until I got home 🤦‍♀️), think I'm due early march or possibly late Feb. Still in a bit of shock - we've been trying for 18m since a TFMR in late 2022, and was starting to give up hope. Fingers crossed it sticks 🙏. I had a fairly easy time of it symptom wise in my previous pregnancies so hoping for the same end time around.

ninaballerina12 · 22/06/2024 08:37

Hi ladies, was so happy to see this thread. I’d love to join you please. So many congratulations on your BFPs!

I got my BFP this morning at 13 DPO. My period was due today but I didn’t get the usual spotting. This was cycle 4 of TTC after a MC in February.

I am feeling apprehensive entering into this pregnancy after my loss but trying to be as positive as possible :)

I have a DS1 who is 20 months. This will be my second with due date of 2 March xx

VLT36 · 22/06/2024 08:51

Congratulations to you all 😊

I'm tentatively joining here If I may!
I started getting faint lines on easy@home at 8dpo. A good positive on FRER at 10dpo and now a positive 1-2 on a clearblue digital at 11dpo!! By my dates due around the 4th March!
So still only 3+4!!! 😬😬. Just new I was pregnant though!
However I'm 37 and it's early days, but trying to stay positive!! Especially after a devastating neonatal loss last year of twins.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 9 months x

ridl14 · 22/06/2024 09:23

Can I join? I found out last Sunday at 11dpo, the due date I've worked out would be 26th Feb but I'm assuming it could well go into early March!

Edit: wanted to reply to people individually but think it would be a bit much ☺️ but wow congratulations to everyone on their BFPs! And especially thinking of everyone who has experienced losses previously, you are amazingly strong.

My first pregnancy and while we can't help but be excited I'm trying to stay grounded and keep my fingers crossed everything goes well.

I also keep finding things I need to be careful of or can't do. We have a spa day coming up (finally using wedding vouchers before they expire) and I've been researching all the things to avoid there, obv saunas and anything heated but apparently also scented essential oils? I can't tell when I'm being neurotic and what is actually sensible advice.

Same with exercise, I just got advice from the yoga instructor at my gym about adjustments. I'd heard so early you can basically keep going as normal as long as it feels good but I still feel nervous about lying on my stomach even though I know there's no bump for a while.

My first midwife appointment is on the phone and not until mid July so it feels a bit like being in limbo trying to figure out what's safe from Google! Anyone else?

I'm so sorry for your loss @VLT36 💐 I cannot imagine what you've been through. Really happy for you with your positive, wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy xx

Kingofthetyrantlizards · 22/06/2024 09:51

@ridl14 it's all so overwhelming isn't it! With exercise, just do what you're comfortable with and if you're worried about lying on your front then don't. For what it's worth I worked out a lot during my pregnancy with DD, and it was fine. This time around I've been exercising much less (due to trying to fit it in between work and toddler) so going to have to speak to my midwife, I'm thinking pregnancy yoga/pilates and walking might be it for me.

No idea about essential oils - it might just be because they don't know rather than there being an known risk. I tend to stick to the NHS website for advice.

Kingofthetyrantlizards · 22/06/2024 09:53

@ridl14 you could always speak to the spa about extending the vouchers if you're worried and have something to look forward to once baby is here? Depends on how much you can do there/ what treatments you want.

ChristmasJumpers · 22/06/2024 11:22

Congratulations everyone! I'm so sorry to those who've previously had losses, it must make things much scarier this time around. I think I'm in denial and every time I go to the loo, I'm expecting blood. Did another test today which was another strong positive on a tescos own, so it is sinking in a bit.

What have people's symptoms been so far? Strangely having never conceived naturally before, I just knew something was off as I had mild cramps last week followed by no period, then a stuffy nose and slightly sore boobs the last few days.

Melusina123 · 22/06/2024 12:06

@ninaballerina12 I understand the apprehension, have you seen the miscarriage odds reassurer? I had it bookmarked last pregnancy for any time I needed reassurance.

@ChristmasJumpers no symptoms really, some pulling in my abdomen and then my eyesight went really funny 2days ago (oestrogen thickens the cornea...) and I had some shooting pains in my boobs that made me "..." since it sent me straight back to the first couple of weeks of the last pregnancy. Now I just feel absolutely knackered, Tri 1 is fun.

ninaballerina12 · 22/06/2024 13:15

I’m sorry to hear about your losses too. How old is your LO? I had a look at the reassurance page, that’s helpful thank you. It’s good to remember the odds are in our favour!

I have had early spotting with both DS1 and MC around 6 week mark, so may see if the GP will prescribe me some progesterone just in case it happens again x

Kingofthetyrantlizards · 22/06/2024 13:16

@ChristmasJumpers my symptoms are pretty mild so far, but I'm not too worried about that as it chimes with my previous pregnancies - some nausea earlier in the week, which seems to have subsided so hoping that's not a bad sign, and some pulling in my abdomen.

Melusina123 · 22/06/2024 13:33

@ninaballerina12 my LO is coming up on 14 months. So if this one sticks we'll be doing 2 under 2 for a couple of months. 😂 Although it still hasn't sunk in, really.

I had spotting with the LO at about 6 weeks too, and was prescribed progesterone. I'm not sure if it helped but it did at least feel like I was doing something (even if that something was a bit oily and undignified).

ninaballerina12 · 22/06/2024 13:58

@Melusina123 Aww I think that’s lovely! It hasn’t sunk in for me either. Feeling so tired though. Thankfully my DS1 still has a long nap so I joined him today!

Oh that sounds just delightful, the things we do honestly! 😂

Zuzu2020 · 22/06/2024 14:43

@ChristmasJumpers symptom wise I have really bad bloating 😂 it's the only reason I tested.
And i keep waking up at 4 am every night wide awake.

My tests seem to be really light with fmu and darker later on in the day.

I woke up at 3.30 last night wide awake for an hour!!! Very annoying 😂

Thank you! Yeah really overwhelming. I feel like every day I find some new thing that's not advised! And I'm sure some of it is nonsense, I saw something on IG the other day saying pregnant women should avoid "foods with sauces" 🙄

I think we'll go ahead with the spa day because I can make adjustments during it and I'll just avoid anything heated so I can go in the pool and some sleep pods ☺️ normally I absolutely love anything heated like a sauna but it's a small sacrifice and also our fault for leaving it almost a year to use them!

@Melusina123 I hadn't heard of the miscarriage odds reassurer but just looked and thank you so much for sharing! It's been on my mind a lot, I'm sure for everyone. Our symptoms sound really similar too, pulling in the abdomen, swollen boobs, exhausted!

I'm also now bloating and waking up really early like 3.30/4am, surprised other people are mentioning this! I thought it was just because I keep passing out in the evenings.

Has anyone booked their first midwife appointment? Mine is on the phone which feels a bit strange! We're also going away when I'll be 8-9 weeks so praying for not too much nausea 🙏🏼

Melusina123 · 22/06/2024 17:05

@ridl14 if you're the kind of person who likes data, I really recommend Expecting Better by Emily Oster. She goes through common advice in pregnancy and what the theoretical risk is, and what evidence there is about it. It's really good information to make up your own mind about what you want to avoid.

Tbh you can find someone somewhere on the internet telling you to avoid anything you can think of. In Australia they are told to avoid soft serve ice cream (and hummus!!) because of risk of listeria, but in France they don't even avoid unpasteurised cheese. So it's easy to drive yourself crazy about this stuff, but you just have to decide for yourself where your lines lie. Last time I ended up basically following the NHS guidance and trying not to worry about the rest.

I haven't booked my midwife appointment yet because I'm still slightly in disbelief but also because I'm tossing up between a couple of hospitals. Where I had my first wasn't the most convenient (or tbh greatest experience) but the more convenient hospital has quite a bad reputation. So I'm not sure what to do!

Thank you so much! I actually love data 😂 I've just lent a family member my copy of Invisible Women, a great read if anyone wants a distraction! That sounds brilliant though, I'll definitely check that out.

That sounds really sensible thank you, NHS guidance for sure and I guess it is personal to everyone. I cut out retinol and salicylic acid in my skincare but have a friend who wouldn't eat pineapple while pregnant, which from what I can see I'd be comfortable with. That is reassuring though and wow I didn't know that about France!

Ah completely understand that, that is a really hard call! If it helps at all and I'm not sure what you did with your first, I booked my appointment through my GP and just put "undecided" next to where to have the baby as I still don't know! I was basically just wanting someone to confirm the pregnancy for me so felt way too early to make that decision.

I wonder if there's anyone on here or in your area who have given birth at the more convenient hospital who could share their experience? It's a really tough call. Do you think there's anything you know now that would help you for next time like how to advocate for yourself better? No idea if that would be relevant to your situation but maybe it could make choosing the same hospital again a bit better if you so chose.

Kingofthetyrantlizards · 22/06/2024 19:23

@ridl14 'food with sauces' 😆 Did she even give a reason? NHS advice seems like a good bet as it's based on our food standards (so that's why they say you can have runny eggs as long as they're lion stamped and but other countries might advise against it)

@Melusina123 does the less convenient one have a better location? I think we'll stick with the one we went to for DD, purely as we know it now.

PurpleBath · 22/06/2024 19:40

Hi guys, I’m so excited to see this thread and tentatively joining if I may!

Had some vfls on cheapies the last few days and a faint but definite positive on a CB ultra early today at 11dpo. This will make my EDD 4 March 25 according to Natural Cycles but likely to be end of Feb based on LMP.

My OH is still sceptical given the faint lines and negative digital test this afternoon so it’s nice to have somewhere that I can indulge in my (perhaps premature) excitement!

I have a 23 mo DS, not sure how he’ll react to the news 😅. Symptom wise I definitely feel pregnant, have had on and off nausea, heavy and tender boobs, the delightful 4am wakes and am burping 24/7!

Absolutely agree with the “Expecting Better” recommendation. My copy is currently loaned out to a pregnant friend so I won’t be re-reading that until I’m ready to tell her our news!
