Just curious if anyone had experienced anything more painful than labour and if so what?

OP posts:

I've had period pains worse than labour, ovarian cyst pain that was also worse.
Like PP said, labour pains came in waves with an end, other pain is different.

I would agree fully with this. Because my period pains were so bad, I thought labour must be horrific but it's really wasn't. It came in waves so you always got a moment to recover before the next contraction came.

Palindromic arthritis and sacroiliitis were both far worse, as are some of my migraines. The pain that really sticks with me though, for some bizarre reason, was from dropping a heavy plastic tray edge-on onto the bony part of my foot. I must have hit a nerve because I genuinely thought for a second that I was going to die. It didn't even leave a bruise, FFS, but years later it's still the first thing that comes to mind when I'm asked about pain, and I did a 19-hour back-to-back labour with no drugs and DS went straight into 6-9 month hats.

@Circumferences
I'm so very sorry for what happened to you 😥

This thread is making me feel really queasy! I've had 3 kids, 2 with no pain relief, tooth abscess and I suffer badly with migraines but the thing that had me screaming hysterically was slamming the car door shut on the 4 fingers of my left hand. God knows what my neighbours were thinking as I was just running around the house screaming like a banshee for over an hour.

Amybelle88 · 30/05/2024 23:53

Pancreatitis.

Horrific.

Viewfrommyhouse · 30/05/2024 23:54

Toothache.
Broken metatarsal.

And I gave birth without pain relief, 2nd degree tear with 30 stitches. I'd happily do it again rather than the other 2 options.

Severe corneal abrasion, never known pain like it.

RosaRoja · 31/05/2024 00:06

sciatica
toothache

ingrown toenail can be pretty bad too

LondonFox · 31/05/2024 00:13

Tbh childbirth was the worst.
That being said my first was getting out for 60 hours and I had epi in the last hour.
After that I walked into ambulance and had a ride on couple of paracetamols with large uterine window that progressed into rupture.

That being said, I am not really prone to illness so cannot compare to much else appart from my molars growing sideways which was much easier pain.

DramaAlpaca · 31/05/2024 00:58

I'd choose labour pain over sinus pain any day.

I managed labour twice with nothing but gas and air. I needed every painkiller under the sun for that sinus infection.

Rattai · 31/05/2024 01:01

Ectopic pregnancy. Fallopian tube ruptured. I wanted to die

Therapy4all · 31/05/2024 01:08

Gallstones. Thought I was dying several times before diagnosed and removed.

Moveoverdarlin · 31/05/2024 01:10

For me nothing has come close to the pain I experienced in childbirth. I’ve broken a leg, had several abdominal operations, went through IVF, smashed my nose and four teeth out playing sport but nothing like the agony of pushing out a baby.

EKGEMS · 31/05/2024 01:47

Pleurisy, gall stone, pancreatitis, lymph node biopsy with breast cancer surgery

Highlandflapped · 31/05/2024 01:52

Broken ribs by far and away the most horrendous pain.

Rockschooldropout · 31/05/2024 01:58

I’ve had five children with zero pain relief ..not by choice

but the grade 4 piles I had after giving birth to DC3 were worse than that Labour any day and he was a shoulder dystocia

Also had dry socket twice .. it’s the most horrific pain in the world

Onacuctustree · 31/05/2024 01:58

Quite embarrassing.
My 3rd. Think about 10 days old.
I thought I was dying.. heart burn.
Never suffered with it before or after.
The doctors were quite kind... Could be just the womb moving back into place... We all knew. I got an ambulance for indigestion.🙄😱

2 natural births and a C section.

Teenagerantruns · 31/05/2024 02:02

I literally just said to a girl today that toothache was worse than childbirth. She been off with a tooth abcess for a few days. Toothache was so much worse for me than birth.

Sparklybutold · 31/05/2024 02:02

Knee dislocation. Was out for about 2 hours. Paramedics came and provided gas and air to help me get it back in.

Ladylalaboo1 · 31/05/2024 02:05

When pregnant with my 1st she was lying in a way that meant she was pressed against my kidney essentially preventing it from emptying or filtering correctly - that was by far the most agonising pain I've ever been in. Was writing around , being sick uncontrollably, passed out at one point from the pain, genuinely thought I was going to die. I've given birth 3 times and would do that a thousand more times than have that kidney pain again, was horrendous!!

HeraSyndulla · 31/05/2024 02:08

Thrown from a horse and empaled on a metal fence post which went straight through my leg and shattered the bone. Took 45 minutes for the paramedics to get to me. Don’t remember anything after that. Woke up three days later in traction with half my ear missing.

Softycatchymonkeys · 31/05/2024 02:11

I have never had a spontaneous labour. My first 2 labours were by far the most painful thing I’d ever experienced but I wonder if that was because they were induced

ihatethewordhubby · 31/05/2024 03:37

Can we have a shout out for all of those dentists out there. Its rare to see them getting any positive feedback . They do an incredible and hard job of getting people out of some of the worst pain .

salsmum · 31/05/2024 03:52

Gallstones he dr said when I asked how many he replied "too many to count" being a full time carer for my DD who has CP and no other help I had to delay op for 18 long agonising months. I also have had a frozen socket following a tooth extraction that was really bad too.

salsmum · 31/05/2024 03:53

Dry socket not frozen socket.
