Thanks everyone! Seems like we're all going pretty casual most of the time which is nice to know.
My other issue is I'm short, 5'3" so any trousers/maternity jeans drown me 😅 I did get a pair of maternity jeggings (never did I think I'd wear them again!.) they're a pretty good fit.
Generally live in my CRZ Yoga leggings as they're soooooo comfy!

TripleESept24 · 30/04/2024 09:10

It's scan day 🩷🥰 11.25 will post an update later

Emmaev · 30/04/2024 09:46

I’m really struggling with insomnia, any tips on how to actually sleep

Baby girl is kicking my insides, last night she was thumping my cervix. Felt like she was planning her escape. If it wasn’t cervix thrashing it was bladder pounding. Having to get up every half hour to pee. Obviously I love her moving round, but the lack of sleep is awful

longingtobe23 · 30/04/2024 09:54

@TripleESept24 good luck! 🤞🏻💕

I was in and out … 25 mins luckily baby was in the mood except when it came to photos! Mostly blurry ones but a cute hand pic.

Back at 32 weeks for placenta check feels like forever away but wow half way feels SOOO good! Home for bacon butty and cuppa before work 🙈

@Emmaev @SC126 @longingtobe23 @PoppingUp I’m so glad I’m not alone. I am a true lover of recycling, my last pram was secondhand and my youngest’s wardrobe has only ever contained about 10 items bought new. In his whole 2.5 years of living 😂 but I do have particular taste like bright leopard prints and rainbows etc. My eldest is now old enough to choose his own style and I’ve shot myself in the foot because he only wants bright stuff which is hard to come by in sizes 5-7 that are affordable. So my mum has basically become our tailor, getting him to choose fabrics so she can make his own outfits on her sewing machine 🥲

So yeah, the 2 whole bin bags of blue and “I love nanny” tops that landed on our door unexpectedly was more of a hindrance than a help. I was so grateful she even thought of me but it also felt like she was just deperate to clear her house out therefore didn’t check if I wanted any of it.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 30/04/2024 09:57

Anyone here on aspirin and had to have it on prescription? I’ve just been declined it over the counter, which is how I’ve bought it up until now AND throughout 2021. Since when was this stopped? 🤣 such a pain in the arse as I’m on my last 2 tablets, my GP surgery is a crock of shite and I don’t see the midwife again until early July. I’ll message them and see. Can they do electronic prescriptions?

Quick update from me. Fetal medicine at Norfolk and Norwich can't see us till next Tuesday. I feel awful sitting in this unknown state for another week. The midwife at the scan said we would be seen within 5 days.

I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s not fair on you to sit and ruminate with all the thoughts you must be having - I hope the time flies by and you get all your answers and hopefully some positive news ❤️

rupertbear91 · 30/04/2024 10:05

Just had a call to rearrange my 20 week scan from the 8th to this Sunday! Not sure what that means for seeing a midwife or anything after but it's also the day I'm moving my horse to a field for the rest of my pregnancy so going to be a busy day!

SC126 · 30/04/2024 10:07

@Honeyandsunshine1 so aspirin can be purchased over the counter but if your pregnant you have to get it on prescription. Ring GP they might do you an electronic prescription. It's worth asking. Otherwise they might want you in to have your blood pressure checked first.

tryingfortwo2 · 30/04/2024 10:07

@Lillers these look like exactly what I’ve been on the hunt for, thank you! Would you size up to accommodate bump?

@SpicyMoth the science of it is that whilst BF
does burn more calories, I think we often overestimate how many/under estimate cals in food.. plus anecdotally it can make you so hungry, so you consume more than it’s burning. The other point is that you ideally don’t want to be in a deficit initially, whilst your supply is establishing, so it takes a little longer to get started as a BF mumma. Plus BF affects pelvic floor too, there’s guidance out there about for example running early on, so there’s a couple of limiting factors to begin with. Everyone is different though, I wouldn’t get hung up on individual previous experiences (mine included!), and I promise you’ll be too in love with your tiny squishy human to bother too much in those early weeks anyway! 🥰

MudandMoet · 30/04/2024 10:16

I could have written this too @Emmaev I'm desperate for a good block of sleep. The sleep/body pillow doesn't help and unusually for me I'm more comfortable on my back which is a no no now ffs 😫 no advice but here in solidarity 🥱

Emmaev · 30/04/2024 10:22

@Honeyandsunshine1 I’ve got a prescription for aspirin but I’ve been getting it over the counter as they give you 100 tablets at Tesco pharmacy whereas my perscription only gives me 2 weeks worth. Our pharmacy also has a 4 hour wait for prescriptions.

I was doing them electronically over the nhs app

cd24x · 30/04/2024 12:35

Hi everyone, been a bit quiet on here as nothing is really happening. Got 20 week scan tomorrow morning. Had very limited movements, but will find out for definite if it's because of anterior placenta tomorrow.

@SpicyMoth just wanted to add my experience of BF and weight loss with DS. I was very fortunate that BF seemed to make the weight just fall off. I ended up being slimmer than pre-pregnancy after a few months. However, I was maybe eating one full meal a day (in the evening) and then lots of light snacks as just finding the time to eat alongside everything else going on was hard! I also had a fair bit of weight to lose prior getting pregnant, so had a lot of fat reserves built up from that, so whether that made a difference I don't know. All I know is that the weight ended up going back on as quickly as it came off once I stopped breastfeeding.

@Honeyandsunshine1 I was getting my 5mg folic acid on prescription from the GP through the NHS app. Just requesting it online and it was approved without issues.

Lillers · 30/04/2024 12:45

@tryingfortwo2 I’m normally a size 12 and I got the Medium, which is 12-14, and that’s been lovely and roomy!

Just checking in with everyone! Had a few rough days with HG but this morning I've managed to keep some food down.

I've slept so crap the last few nights as well I'm either sleeping sooo light and waking up 400 times, or waking up and being wide awake for 2-3 hours in the middle of the night its driving me insane!

19+3 today and I am so glad I can soon class myself as half way. This HG is making me absolutely miserable I can't wait to feel like myself again once I've given birth.

WinsandSam · 30/04/2024 13:34

@Honeyandsunshine1 @SC126 my OB consultant told me to buy it from supermarkets. I got a stash from Asda but you can get it anywhere on the shelf, just not in bulk loads. They are 300mg tablets so I have to half them

SpicyMoth · 30/04/2024 15:24

I can't speak for insomnia myself, but my DH certainly can!
He has informed me that the last week I've been snoring VERY heavily 😅
Bump has had a noticeable growth spurt recently so he reckons it's that!

TripleESept24 · 30/04/2024 15:58

I just ate a small amount of brie by mistake......

Work had a buffet for a retirement lunch today. I was told there was a range of veggie sarnies there were two types of cheese sandwich and I had a small quarter thinking It was normal cheese but someone told me after it was brie 😭😭 other was was cheddar and coleslaw

Should I tell midwife? It was probably two thin slices

I struggled a lot in first trimester, and now on and off with it. I've been taking magnesium supplements which have definitely helped - just make sure to decrease the dose according to what's in your pre natal vitamin (I have Holland & Barrett Magnesium Citrate, the daily dose is 3 tabs, I take two as the rest is in my pre natal).

Also been advised to ditch the devices and try hot cocoa an hour before bed.

I don’t think you should worry too much. If you start to feel ill then mention it, but if not then there’s nothing wrong. Try not to worry, the chances of one tiny bit causing problems is really slim!

WinsandSam · 30/04/2024 17:31

@TripleESept24 try not to panic, I've eaten smoked salmon and goats cheese (loads of it!) at the beginning before I knew I was pregnant. It's only if you get food poisoning from it, so you'd know about it. Also had blue cheese in pasta (I didn't know it was in it.) just panics you which I totally get

PoppingUp · 30/04/2024 17:45

@TripleESept24 as others have said, it's not dangerous in and of itself. It's just that it has a very slightly higher chance of giving you certain illnesses than other food. If you don't feel ill then you're fine (and if you feel ill it's probably psychosomatic as the chance of it doing you any harm is really extremely low!)

If it makes you feel any better I have forgetfully eaten cured meats, blue cheese and sushi over the last few months and each time had that 'doh' moment after already finishing my portion. I really need someone to follow me around with an air horn to alert me when I'm about to do these things 😂

TripleESept24 · 30/04/2024 18:16

Thanks everyone! I literally just thought it was a cheese sandwich didn't even think or particularly notice the taste of it!!
