Oh my days ladies! What a day! I’ve only just laid down for a catchup.
I have read through all of your birth experiences and I find it so interesting to read.
I had a gender scan today and it’s certainly a BOY!💙🩵🩶
My boy has not been shy to kick and today was no different. The sonographer gave him light wiggle to get him to show more angles and he woke up alright. Behold a compilation of my baby proudly stomping on my abdomen.
Something weird happened. On the 12 week scan the baby waved with his hand and my partner waved back at him from the back at the room.
In this scan he waved aswell! His father waved back at him again😂

@MudandMoet fyi don’t be surprised if it takes time to pick the right formula, my friend went through many..some he didn’t like, there was even one he was allergic to (have him hives and a rash) and the one that he liked and wasn’t allergic to, went out of stock for quite some time.

@MudandMoet we used Aptamil as it seems to be available in all supermarkets, our local corner shops etc and you can get the pre-made bottles for convenience (never actually looked into if other brands do this, they probably do)

DD took to it no problem

RosiePH · 05/04/2024 22:36

Wow @Xur! What amazing scan photos!

For those who are having their second/third baby, how would you feel about travelling to a wedding at 35 weeks? A wedding that’s 4 hours drive via the M25 and in an electric car which will need charging en-route…. I’m wondering if I’d be mad to go, so DH is contemplating going alone and seeing if my parents will come and stay with me.

MudandMoet · 05/04/2024 22:44

@Xur awww look at those pics! That hand is doing a perfect wave - hey folks!! 👋🏼 you've said all along you thought you were having a boy too!

Yes that's what I'm thinking with the milk (thanks again all) it needs to be easily available or on subscription. I'll have a look what our local supermarket and chemist stock. Thinking about it my SIL has just changed from Aptamil to Cow and Gate Comfort (?) as their 2.5 month old was struggling with severe colic/reflux. Apparently the difference was amazing and within days she was so settled.

MudandMoet · 05/04/2024 22:48

@HolyMoly24 @LSW82 I do love the idea of the little ready made bottles so that's a must the more I think about it because I'm lazy and know I'll end up using them more than I need to

HolyMoly24 · 05/04/2024 22:57

@MudandMoet anything to make life easier with a little baby 🙌🏼 they cost an arm and a leg though that's the only thing

SC126 · 06/04/2024 07:05

@MudandMoet my DS wouldn’t drink the ready made bottles. He would only drink warm milk. Was bane of my life and I had to use flasks and do hotshot method when out and about. I heard the nuby rapidcool does this nowadays so that will be a purchase for me though I’m hoping this one will drink the ready made so much more convenient then.

@RosiePH i think it will depend on how you feel later on in pregnancy. I had a giant bump and pgp. Could you go but leave early if you start feeling like you have had enough. I’ve booked a week away this time when I’ll be 33 weeks so not far off you and it’s a 4hr drive. But I don’t plan to be doing dancing or keeping small talk with people all evening. I plan to sit on a beach with my kindle and watch my husband run around after my DS because I could be mistaken for a beach whale washed up on shore by then 🤣

@Xur welcome to team blue! Boys are just the best. My DS is a proper mummys boy and so affectionate and caring.

Cat2022 · 06/04/2024 07:42

@MudandMoet we used kendamil but I tried to bf at first so wasn’t in the hospital using it. Afterwards I would order a crate of their ready to feed bottles from their website and it made out and about and overnight a lot easier. You can get a subscription from them too so you won’t run out if you can’t get to a shop.

MudandMoet · 06/04/2024 07:52

Thanks again everyone, I would be so lost without this thread. Hope you all have a lovely weekend 🫶🏻

MudandMoet · 05/04/2024 21:00

Thank all, it's good to hear a good variation of stories so it's clear that basically anything is possible! @Honeyandsunshine1 ahh your experience sounds lovely but I'm sure I won't be that lucky.

Next question to the amazing encyclopaedia of knowledge on this thread: Milk recommendations? I won't be breastfeeding as I had a breast uplift around 12 years ago (they were HUGE and I was a size 8/10 so extremely top heavy) I'm a 12 normally these days but still have 34GG boobs as my weight has also gone there 🤦🏼‍♀️ Also my left nipple has never felt the same since and I hate it being touched (right one is perfectly fine) but I have definitely decided it's not for me. Any advice for the best easily available formula? 🍼🤍

I didn’t think I would be that lucky either (considering my first birth was the opposite) however, this is the beauty of it, I think having a positive mindset is what helped propel us into it. In fact even if I’d had that in my first birth, I’d of been a lot better off mentally. The things I changed with my second were doing hypnobirthing, and having positive affirmations dotted around the house. I got the cards from Etsy but they basically said things like “I can do anything for 1 minute” and “I am prepared for whatever birth my body and baby needs”

https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/678087414/positive-birth-affirmation-cards?ref=yr_purchases

I know it sounds hippy dippy, hence why I didn’t do anything like this with my first, but I truly believe it helped carry me through contractions with my second. Doing the hypnobirthing course allowed me to learn what was going on with my body with every contraction and it felt good. Knowledge is power after all 🤷🏻‍♀️ I didn’t want to do this first time around as I felt ignorance was bliss and it turns out, it wasn’t 😂 I also did lots of walking and ate 4 medjool dates a day from 36 weeks. My waters spontaneously went at 38.5 weeks, something that didn’t happen first time around so I often wonder if that was the doing of the dates. I’ll probably do it again but from 37 weeks this time lol.

But yeah, basically what I’m saying it, talk positively to yourself. There are a few studies that confirm that a positive mindset of birth can improve outcomes. Remind yourself frequently there is no reason for you not to have a positive birth. 🩷

Totally agree with the hypnobirthing! I got through a long latent phase and to 8cm alone through just the breathing and having the positive mind set 💪🏻

FuppinNora · 06/04/2024 09:05

Second going for the formula with pre made bottles, Tesco usually have them all the time. I think it is aptamil and cow and gate. A god send for first week home.
It has been awhile since my last and I can't remember do they heat the ready made bottles in the hospital and if they don't why do we start doing it when we get home?!

cd24x · 06/04/2024 09:51

@FuppinNora I think it ends up being warm bottles at home because you're meant to make up the powdered formula with boiling water to kill off any bacteria within the powder. The ready made formula is contained within sterilised bottles/cartons so can be served at any temperature. I think it's a case of when you've got a baby screaming for a bottle, you give them it as soon as you can, therefore warm!

rupertbear91 · 06/04/2024 11:45

We just had our gender scan and it's most definitely a boy!!! It took ages because he once again spent most the time on his head 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 I best ditch my unicorn wallpaper dream now and get planning out nursery 💙💙

Lillers · 06/04/2024 13:30

Waaah just had the first case of not making it to the bathroom in time when I was sick. Projectiled all the way from the living room, through the hallway, to the downstairs toilet. Worst of all: I’d had tomato soup for lunch so now the house looks like a crime scene 😭. DH is scrubbing the walls and I genuinely feel like I’m watching a true crime reenactment 😂😭

@rupertbear91 😂 what a little gymnast! Congrats!! 💙

FuppinNora · 06/04/2024 14:18

@cd24x that makes sense! Strange how it never dawned on me before 😂
@rupertbear91 wow amazing 3d scan! Congrats

longingtobe23 · 06/04/2024 14:39

@Lillers oh mama mia
i have a toasted tea cake and a decaf tea at my sons swimming lessons every Saturday morning

today it was threatening me all the way home in the car … it came out fast into a bowl! And now I shall never eat them again 🤦🏼‍♀️😂
I thought I was over the sickness as nothing yesterday!

How far along are you? Is it multiple times a day?

Lillers · 06/04/2024 14:43

@longingtobe23 I’m 15 weeks. Luckily not every day, I’m on Cyclizine so it’s maybe 3-4 times a week now instead of a couple of times a day, so hopefully I’ll now not be sick again for a couple of days. I just want it to end now, it’s so unnecessary 😂

OP posts:
Xur · 06/04/2024 15:07

@rupertbear91 congratulations you’re clearly expecting an acrobat 😂😂😂

@Lillers omg 😂😂😂 I know it’s not funny, but it’s also funny at the same time 😂😂
I hope you see an end to this sickness soon 💚

FYI I feel like my belly is growing by the hour now, am I the only one?

LSW82 · 06/04/2024 15:26

Another one here still being sick! Mine only came on bad in the last couple of weeks - have cyclazine to take if needed. I felt ok today, then was sick after my shower!
@longingtobe23 with my son I was sick after having avocado on toast - haven’t touched it since!!

Cinai · 06/04/2024 15:58

Lovely scan, congrats 💙

So sorry for all who are still sick. I hope it passes soon for you.

Is anyone else still experiencing mild cramping? It’s the same kind of abdominal/lower back cramping I had during the first trimester. Just wondering if this should have stopped by now, I’m 16+4.

Xur · 06/04/2024 16:49

@Cinai as far as I know we can keep having these for as long as our insides keep stretching and growing, which is basically..all the time 😒

YellowZ · 06/04/2024 17:39

Just wondering if anyone has come across any long sleeve maternity t-shirts? I keep looking for ones like these (me at 8m with DS). They were one of the few pieces of clothing that fitted OK all the way through to full term... I outgrew the dresses and my over bump jeans 🙄

Oops edited to say I forgot the photo. I'll add it in another post.
