@YellowZ maybe he/she has just got a lot of space to move as I feel huge and carried too much water in both my previous pregnancies haha.
Think I may of felt something this morning but from the outside with my hand first rather than felt it inside. Lol.

FuppinNora · 04/04/2024 09:13

I'm 18 weeks on Saturday and have felt nothing. I thought I felt something about the 14 weeks but it was probably just gas. I was 17 weeks on last pregnancy when I felt movement. I went through huge anxiety last week that something was wrong.
I have GP appointment tomorrow and I hope they will listen to heartbeat for reassurance.

Oh ladies I ate sweet chilli crisps yesterday and my god did I pay for it in heartburn. I had to have rennies during the night.

Emmaev · 04/04/2024 09:31

@MrsM89 Ive felt a few bubbles but nothing major. I’m 18+3 and thought I’d feel a lot more by now.

I just had a shower and finally shaved my legs, wish I hadn’t bothered looked down and my legs are covered in very prominent veins.

cd24x · 04/04/2024 09:50

@MrsM89 16 weeks here with baby #2. Felt the odd popping/rolling sensation but not regular at all and really have to concentrate. Could also be gas! I was told I have anterior placenta at 12 week scan (although I appreciate that as baby grows, this can move), so I am not expecting to feel much until a bit further along.

MrsC2024 · 04/04/2024 09:53

Gosh ladies, how are we on thread 5 already? I don’t think I’ve commented since thread 2! Hope everyone is keeping well.

Does anyone really not feel pregnant?? I spent the first few weeks exhausted and feeling sick/gagging, but I’m now almost 17 weeks and just feel normal! No obvious movements yet, but my placenta looked to be anterior at my 12wk scan so not surprisingly really. But I still can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right. I felt like this first time round too, and it was all fine so I know I’m most likely worrying about nothing, but I think the loss of symptoms is a bit disconcerting even though I know it’s normal! Argh. Pregnancy is such a rollercoaster!

longingtobe23 · 04/04/2024 10:17

@MrsC2024 i felt the opposite way around - early days I felt nothing, no symptoms all the same!
now 16 weeks and have been sick most days, exhausted food aversions still! Luckily I’ve had a few scans dotted around for reassurance and 20 weeks scan won’t be long.
But I’ve no bump and nothing else bar vomiting to let me know still in there 😂

im hoping 20 weeks it’ll all settle and start to feel real 🤞🏻 with a small bump please haha

Lillers · 04/04/2024 10:22

Has anyone got any recommendations for recipes that involve minimal frying/meat prep that I can make for dinners?

I’m getting to a point now where I am happy to start cooking again (much to DH’s relief as he’s been doing all of it!) but the thought of handling meat, and the smell of it frying still triggers nausea.

I’ve so far just been roasting vegetables and using them as a base for veggie pasta sauces, which have been lovely, but starting to get a bit samey!

Most recipes that involve meat require the meat to be sealed off first, which is the bit I can’t do.

Happy for recipes to be fully veggie!

Also to make this more fun I don’t eat dairy at all, so no cheesy/creamy things 🥴

rupertbear91 · 04/04/2024 10:39

@Lillers have you got a slow cooker? I just dump my meat in there and put the lid on so I can't smell it?

Martibum · 04/04/2024 11:11

@Lillers I feel for you! I had such a strong aversion to cooking smells with my 1st!
Maybe something marinated such a beef stir fry? You would smell the meat cooking (hopefully) and its a quick meal to through together.
Or a beef tagine, again the meat is marinated in Harrisa paste so generally can't smell it when searing.
If you don't have an air fryer, you can cook your meatballs in the oven and there's basically no smell.

SC126 · 04/04/2024 11:15

@Lillers what about none smelly fish. Simple cod veg and potato dish. I’ve done that quite a bit recently. Or jacket potatoes with different fillings. The thought of cooking makes me nauseated so I’ve gone for quite a bit of convenience food lately. Pizza is life 😂

SC126 · 04/04/2024 11:18

So a couple weeks ago we had our garden re done and we pulled my sons old mamas and papas pram out of the shed to see how it looked. Sadly it was broken and wasn’t noticeable at first glance but I spotted it as I was playing. I was disappointed for a minute then realised how much fun pram shopping was and I could do it again. We also don’t need much at all this pregnancy as we still have nearly everything so today I’m going to browse prams and enjoy it 😂

MrsC2024 · 04/04/2024 11:24

@longingtobe23 ahh how weird! Hopefully your symptoms settle soon, and you end up with a nice small bump and gentle kicks!

@Lillers Second the slow cooker idea. Or maybe marinaded whole chicken breasts cooked in the oven/airfryer, prawn stir fries or curries or a butternut squash risotto?

TripleESept24 · 04/04/2024 11:27

I am 17 weeks tomorrow and I have definitely started feeling her rolling. Mainly when I lay on my side! Second baby x

Lillers · 04/04/2024 12:05

@MrsC2024 @SC126 @Martibum @rupertbear91

Thanks for all the ideas! I do have a slow cooker, so that’s a great place to start - all of the recipes I usually use involve frying the meat off first but I assume I can just miss that step. Love the idea of a butternut squash risotto! I also have a lentil curry recipe somewhere that I want to track down - I might ask my mum for it, I’m sure I got it from her originally.

@SC126 happy pram browsing! I'm also looking regular now as I'm starting to worry that I'm almost half way and unless I pull my socks up will end up with everything to do and buy last off. We need absolutely everything but the pram search is the one frying my brain totally as the choices available are phenomenal and I can't make my mind up for toffee!

Ive done a little list of jobs that need doing in the house too as that really could do with getting started on in this next month. I'm contemplating moving our bedroom to what would be the nursery as the layout is better that way around but just can't get my head around it all at the minute.

@Lillers chicken breasts and chicken breast fillets done in the air fryer don't make any mess or smell at all. I fill mine with stuffing and wrap in bacon sometimes, or a little pork joint takes no time with not much smell, add some little roasties or new potatoes in the other side, hob with veggies on and a splash of gravy and ta dah a quick easy fuss free meal.

HRP1990 · 04/04/2024 12:43

@MudandMoet we’ve got alot of house jobs I’d love to get done before baby is here! They’re not essential, but I can’t see them getting done with a baby and toddler! It’s the prep/sanding/filling I can’t bring myself to do.. I’ll pick up a paintbrush any day lol. I was painting coving at 40 weeks pregnant just to push our bedroom to the finish line before our first came along 😂

Which prams are you deciding between? I’m hoping to score a Bugaboo Donkey on fb marketplace for a bargain 🤞🏻

PoppingUp · 04/04/2024 12:49

@Lillers we like veggie tacos with black beans, though not sure they'd be the same without the sour cream!

Other meals on rotation include risotto made with dried porcini mushrooms and nice stock, sea bass marinated in curry paste and served with rice, and I do enjoy a 'posh' version of beans on toast, fish finger sandwiches etc with just a bit of fresh salad, condiments and nicer bread than usual.

Surely it's almost 'picky bits for tea' season again soon too 🤞

SC126 · 04/04/2024 13:10

@HRP1990 im swaying towards bugaboo but the fox version. We live rurally so those big wheels are a dream. However the cost is putting me off. I’ve joined the fb group to check out anything secondhand.

MrsC2024 · 04/04/2024 13:18

@SC126 We had the bugaboo fox 3 and have been really happy with it. We’ll probably need a double this time round so we’re hoping to get a second hand donkey

RosiePH · 04/04/2024 13:59

I’ve liked the Mamas and Papas Ocarro the most so far. You can get a bundle with a Cybex Cloud car seat too.

I won’t be buying until July, so I am hoping that some colours might go into the sale. I’d be open to buying a car seat separately - either Britax or the Volvo own one for my car (but it’s £500 so definitely at the pricier end, although I expect it’s very safe and I like the gliding system).

My parents are hinting that they want to buy us the pram, as my dad’s parents bought them a Mamas and Papas pram for me. But it’s really expensive and we could probably afford it more than they could, so DH keeps saying no. But it’s a hard one because I think they might be offended if I say no!

MudandMoet · 04/04/2024 13:59

@HRP1990 you're a better person than me because yes I'm quite handy and not afraid of DIY but one thing I would never attempt is decorating. I'm so heavy handed it would look so bad! I came across a great decorator 20 years ago who I've used every other year for freshens up since. Strangely, I don't need him for the nursery as we had the bedrooms freshened up just before I got caught in December and had given up all hope but luckily chose a neutral colour.

Re Prams: I'm debating the Cybex pram
in Almond also the silver cross reef in stone, the bugaboo fox 5(?) in forest green and there's a mamas and papas one I like in green but can't recall the name. The light colours aren't ideal for us I don't think but not sure I can resist 🤦🏼‍♀️ We've decided on mamas and papas oak ocean range for the nursery but I've seen some right bargains second hand so that's a given.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 04/04/2024 14:47

Completely off topic but my boobs are driving me CRAZY today! I literally feel like I could just chop them off

They have gotten so much bigger and just feel so much heavier this pregnancy and they're just irritating the life out of me.

HRP1990 · 04/04/2024 15:21

MrsC2024 · 04/04/2024 13:18

@SC126 We had the bugaboo fox 3 and have been really happy with it. We’ll probably need a double this time round so we’re hoping to get a second hand donkey

Exact same as us lol. We did get a Yoyo after the Fox as it’s smaller and more compact for day to day.. but hoping I can sell the Fox for a Donkey this time!

The Fox is a great pram! @SC126 @MudandMoet

HRP1990 · 04/04/2024 15:23

Yes @BeautyAndTheBump1 the way they ache first thing in the morning!! They are so heavy 🥹

longingtobe23 · 04/04/2024 15:39

I had a bugaboo for my son but he was extremely tall and by 2 he wasn’t really in it! Grew out of the bassinet by 4 months too 🤦🏼‍♀️
he does have the same size feet as me at 8 years old though! So not the usual kiddo / we did however love it and it is still looking brand new.

However this time - it’s a girl one! So potentially could be a touch smaller and she could be in it for much longer, my twins daughter is a dot and her sons take after mine! So we often wonder if my daughter will be like hers (she looks just like me 😂) … wow seems so surreal after all this time that I’m having a girl one! I get looks when I babysit her kids and very much look forward to pretending to have 5 under 9 at the park 🤭

anyway… I’m rambling I think I’ll be picking up just a fancy from birth stroller to use from about 2+ months when I’m doing the school run as I don’t fancy a HUGE one this time and the paths in our village are tiny. I like the EggZ anyone got any experience?
