@MudandMoet I’m also loving the fox 5 in forest green. I found it really nice to play with in the shop and even though some other all terrain prams look prettier I’m loving some of the practical points of the bugaboo 😂

Martibum · 04/04/2024 15:40

I just managed to find a preloved egg2 at a reasonable price so I'm very happy! There was a problem with PayPal putting the payment through so I'm really hoping it all works out :(
I tried some out in the shop, I really thought I wanted the donkey until I pushed it. I'm just shy of 5foot so it just felt a bit bulky for me, in fact all the side by sides felt like that! I didn't want twins in a tandem but I think it's more practical long term
Also got 3 across the back of our car so not under pressure to upgrade our car.
I ended up I hospital, I have been so unwell for 3 weeks. I really can't seem to shake this cough/cold or whatever is lingering. I had ringing in my ears today which was new. I went to the GP last week who sent me to hospital who then sent me to another hospital and then I got discharged with no prescription because the head of pharmacy wasn't there to approve anything for me because I was pregnant 🙃

longingtobe23 · 04/04/2024 15:44

@Martibum oh gosh how frustrating!! I got very sick on holiday on Cornwall and 111 and local pharmacies wouldn’t confidentially give me anything due to pregnancy risk…. I was sure I had a chest infection I still sound raspy and look awful! Going on 3 weeks now. Hope you get better soon. 🥲

also for others looking … if I was buying a whole new travel system again I do love the Uppababy vista! But I can’t justify it when I have a strong feeling this will be our second and last baby due to fertility issues 💗

Martibum · 04/04/2024 15:55

@longingtobe23 I'm based in Ireland so it's HSE which is a terrible system altogether. I was told it was good Friday so no help!
The uppababy vista is fabulous! We were going to buy it new if I couldn't find a suitable 2nd hand one. The twin/double configurations are great on the vista. And the basket underneath is great! I actually preferred it over the egg but there's a new version coming out this month so I managed to get a great price on ex display.

tryingfortwo2 · 04/04/2024 16:02

Do I have plenty of newborn stuff in the attic? Probably. Did that stop me from picking up these adorable sleepsuits today? Absolutely not.

On the pram chat, on my hunt for a double the iCandy Orange seems to tick all of our boxes as a linear double, built in toddler board, all the configurations you could need, long lasting (growth wise) and great ‘Which?’ score.. but obviously the older model has just been discontinued and they’re asking £1200+ for the new one 🫠 joining the secondhand hunt too I think!

MudandMoet · 04/04/2024 16:19

Tbf I'd forgot about the uppababy vista! I did look at that originally a while ago so now that's back in the contenders list 🤦🏼‍♀️

@SC126 aww I wanna play with one now! There's no decent baby item shops around us so I've no idea where to go for a good selection to look around. Anyone near Derbyshire have any ideas? Will travel (and make a day of it) if it's within an hour or so.

longingtobe23 · 04/04/2024 16:23

I’ve just looked and since my last peep the vista is on a bit of a better offer and less than £1000 most places
But not sure on total with a second configuration! But yeh they look very good for 2 littles on board

the plot thickens so I might get one after all… I was about to click buy on a new Tripp Trap and newborn seat as we now have an excitable Labrador at dinner times
but hubby has said he will find one for me second hand (I give him 2 weeks before he gives up) at least we have plenty of time!

also I have pretty much all the clothes I’ll ever need at this stage thanks to my recent purchases (I know I’m embarrassed too) and I’ll be asking for 6-9 months at this stage!
I also went to go and buy some bits in the ASDA baby event - but only thing that caught my eye was the Nuby rapid cool - and I breastfed for a year last time so why I got that I’ll never know 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

SC126 · 04/04/2024 16:27

@MudandMoet I’m in Derbyshire believe it or not 😂 however I am close to Cheshire border so makes shopping a tad easier because if your in the sticks a bit more there’s not a lot of shop options. We went to John Lewis and there’s also a baby pram shop in bredbury, Stockport at pear mill. I know there’s also a winstanleys I think it’s called in stoke on Trent if your near that way or if you can get over towards Barnsley there’s some options I think. I have no idea if you are derby/Nottingham side of Derbyshire sadly.

MudandMoet · 04/04/2024 16:49

@SC126 my nearest town is Chesterfield, we're very much on the cusp of South Yorkshire and Notts border. I'll take a look at the options you've mentioned though because I love a run out somewhere different, thank you.

MudandMoet · 04/04/2024 16:54

@longingtobe23 I've just had a look too and there's some good bargains to be had, it's tempting me to crack on I've got to be honest! The uppababy (sage) is now top of my list after a quick Google especially at that price and you can have the maxi cosi 360 car seat with it for not too much extra. I definitely want to have a play about with at least one or two before I order anything though arggghhhh!

HRP1990 · 04/04/2024 17:11

@longingtobe23 I haven’t bought anything yet so I’m loving hearing about all the purchases!! We have the Bugaboo Giraffe highchair which I’d definitely recommend if you’re open options, I do always see a trip trapp on Facebook though!

I don't know if anyone else can relate, but I don’t feel super connected to this baby yet. I know it’s still early days at 17 weeks and there is plenty of time. I think it’s because I love my daughter so much I don’t know how I’m going to be able to love another like her 🥹. Maybe once we go for our scan, feel more movement etc it’ll change.

longingtobe23 · 04/04/2024 17:54

@MudandMoet because we’ve got to redo a whole office/ carpet for a nursery I know I’ll be ordering as much as possible before the big bills start rolling in 🤭 but since finding out it’s a girl and my first baby since 2015… I was so darn ready I feel like I’ve known what I wanted for years

I am open to high chairs yes I know it’ll be the least used item for a long time probably 30 mins a day when they’re tiny! But then oddly last until 3/4 years old! i just wanted one with a lie flat baby option as I would like somewhere to plop them when we eat at the dinner table. Maxi cosi do one but it’s even more pricey!

I’m also put off buying a 0-6month car seat and tempted to go straight for a 0-4years as again my son outgrew his by 4 months then I gave it to my sister 🤦🏼‍♀️ BUT there is a lovely independent shop an hour from us called The Baby Barn Warwickshire and I am tempted to hit that for the big bits and take the car and trial before I buy (I know John Lewis do this but I found it more of a faff last time driving round the back to a random car park) 😂 I know I’m lazy!

Martibum · 04/04/2024 18:03

@HRP1990 I know how you feel. I feel very disconnected with this pregnancy, even with scans every 2 weeks and finding out its girls. I don't know if my 3 year old being sick and having mega tantrums is just shifting my focus or the fact I've been so unwell myself, but i could go most of the day without thinking of the pregnancy.

HolyMoly24 · 04/04/2024 18:06

@HRP1990 I feel exactly the same and feel so guilty about it. I think if you already have another child/children to care for then they remain your no.1 focus and priority until baby no.2 is actually born and you realise they're an actual gorgeous little baby!

I still feel like it isn't even really happening. Haven't looked at buying anything yet.

longingtobe23 · 04/04/2024 18:24

@HRP1990 alao don’t think I ever got gushy emotional and fully attached until babe was in arms!
my first was a shock and unexpected - but I was the same for my sisters kids (love them as my own now) but when she was pregnant I did not stroke her belly and didn’t get connected 😂
whereas she cries seeing me now! And when we chat babies!

we are all different don’t feel badly you’ll love this little one just the same as your first 💗✨
I find rubbing cream in before bed helps me sometimes remember they’re there, when I’m struggle to walk by month 9 I will KNOW they’re in there 🤦🏼‍♀️

SC126 · 04/04/2024 18:32

@longingtobe23 im also put off by the baby car seats. We still have my sons 0-4 year spin seats that technically can be used from birth but I’ve heard sometimes the newborn fit isn’t the best in them. But I hate spending so much on a decent baby car seat (I’m big on car safety so will want something rated good) when they will use it only 6 months!

@HRP1990 I think second child guilt never really goes away. I feel the guilt now too and my son is older but in some ways it’s better than it was a couple years ago as he’s now at school and he understands what’s happening more. You will defo have enough love for both though! And it will be nice seeing them interact together as they grow older.

Fik88 · 04/04/2024 18:34

We went for our gender scan today, we were supposed to be going Saturday but they rang this morning to cancel it and said they had today available, it was a bit of a rush but so glad we got to go. I also have an anterior placenta so she said i might feel baby move later. WE ARE HAVING A BOY 💙

RachSmile · 04/04/2024 18:44

@Fik88 congratulations! That’s a lovely scan picture 💙

Fik88 · 04/04/2024 18:51

@RachSmile Thank you

Cinai · 04/04/2024 19:01

Does anyone else feel some pressure in the uterus / vagina area during physical exercise (light jogging, or pregnancy-adapted workouts)? It’s not painful, no cramping, just the feeling that something is there…it goes away again about 15 minutes after I stopped exercising. I’m not sure if I’m just being silly because obviously something is there now, or if I need to talk to a midwife and potentially looking at a bed rest-pregnancy.

Cat2022 · 04/04/2024 19:26

@longingtobe23 we have the hauck alpha which can get a newborn attachment as a cheaper alternative to the Tripp trapp and maxi cosi nesta. You can get a really big tray for it too which has been a godsend as it has a higher edge so stop as much mess off the sides. They also retail pretty cheap second hand in comparison to the others.

HRP1990 · 04/04/2024 19:26

Thank you girls @SC126 @longingtobe23 @HolyMoly24 @Martibum it’s nice to know I’m not alone! I know I’ll 100% love this one as much as my daughter, it’s just the initial connection. But I have her to look after so I guess it’s different this time around!

Congrats @Fik88! Did you suspect boy or was it a surprise to know?

HRP1990 · 04/04/2024 19:28

I just came out of my reformer class and the instructor stopped me to tell me how strong I was 🥹 she said she had made alternatives exercises in case I couldn’t do the core exercises, but I did it 💪🏻 lol made me super proud of my pregnant bod

hol92 · 04/04/2024 19:32

Had our gender scan earlier and she was indeed a little girl! We were so shocked! But so very happy :) a little sister for my beautiful boy 💙💗
Must be something to the nub theory!
