Pregnancy after loss support

Hi ladies, I've recently found out I'm pregnant again after 2 losses in a row. I'm very lucky to have a DS and I had another MC before I had him. So 3 losses in total. I'm only 4+4, but got faint positive 11 days ago at 9dpo and it feels like I've been pregnant for aaaages but time is moving so slowly. We've booked an early scan when I'll be 8 weeks exactly so waiting it out until then, and hoping nothing happens in between. I wondered if anyone else is in a similar position and wanted to share this early journey with me. I've decided not to tell anyone this time round, a lot of my close friends are dealing with newborns or their own ivf journeys and I don't want to add any load to anyone. But it feels like a huge load to me so would love to share with someone!

Hi girls

I had a 7 week reassurance scan with my lovely Screening Midwife yesterday, as I previously had a termination for medical reasons due to T18 and have been offered extra scans and testing this time. It was so lovely, we saw the tiny 'prawn' with its little heartbeat. Next up is a scan and NIPT at 10 weeks.

Thornberry1 · 20/03/2024 14:34

Ahh I'm so happy for you @MrsScotland that's wonderful news!! Wanted to ask on the TFMR thread but aware of being to sensitive to those not yet pregnant again ❤
It's actually really nice having smaller milestones at the beginning with the 7 week scan, NIPT then the 12-week scan - goes by much more quickly. Hope you're feeling ok!

Figtree11 · 20/03/2024 15:58

Thank you @Sez281 for your message, it’s really reassuring to hear from someone else who has been in the same position. I’ve had some nausea again this afternoon so hoping this means symptoms are still around.

Thank you @Hopingrae I’ve stayed away from google since this morning. Feeling ok about it for now. Just shows what a rollercoaster this journey is.
I hope you start feeling better soon

That’s great @MrsScotland 😊

MrsScotland · 20/03/2024 16:07

Ahh thanks @Thornberry1 , I get a bit lost on all the threads and where I've updated, there are 3 nice TFMR boards over on Babycentre that are a bit easier to follow!

I feel like I've been pregnant again for ages, I think because we found out at 3+4! Also because I've already given up wine for 3 months for the previous pregnancy. I joke it will feel like an elephant pregnancy by the end!

30somethingttc · 20/03/2024 17:03

Can I ask about NIPT again!
I had my booking in appointment today and asked if the bloods taken today were the same as NIPT and they said it was but I wasn’t sure they quite understood what I was trying to say because it seems you are all having them at 10 weeks and I’m not at that stage yet. A bit confused!!

Usually at your booking appointment you have your bloods done for checking things like anemia, thyroid, blood type, so on and so forth. I always believed you'd have your bloods done for NIPT if you came up high risk or baby was showing a lot of fluid on the back of their neck? Or am i just thinking wrong about that. Idk this is my first experience going past 6 weeks of pregnancy🤣

Oh ladies, my day has been horrendous at work.. i work for a childrens hospital charity and as lovely as that sounds, easter is approaching and today we have been donated nearly 2000 easter eggs that ive had to sticker, bag and label for the wards

My feet are on fire, my brains stopped working and i just want to go home and cry and never look at an easter egg again.. but then for the rest of the time until easter friday... we have donations if eggs. Another being monday and we're having 1000🫠

Pregnancy and being on your feet while stickering, bagging and labeling easter eggs... i never want to see one ever again after next thursday.

Can someone send help, a foot massage and some chocolate (preferrably not easter egg chocolate)

Welcome @H20202 I think your symptoms definitely sound promising. I know lts not necessarily a sign of anything but I definitely felt way different this time around and I've made it to 11 weeks tomorrow so for me it was a sign. Hopefully got you too

@MrsScotland That's such a lovely milestone to get to. It's so amazing seeing the heartbeat 💗 Hopefully the next 3 weeks pass quickly for you

@30somethingttc @LER2023 explained it quite well I think. The bloods you got taken were "normal" ones (the midwife didn't understand you) NIPT is a private test you can get from 10 weeks (costs around £400) the nhs 12 week scan will include a nucheal test to se fluid around the neck etc, if this shows anything concerning then they'll recommend Nipt, the Nipt is a personal choice at 10 weeks if you want to go private. I chose to get it due to my age etc for peace of mind but not everybody wants to do it's completely up to you

30somethingttc · 20/03/2024 21:04

@LER2023 @Sez281
thank you that makes sense.
I was confused when they said this was the nipt test as I thought it was later! But I probably wasn’t explaining myself very well!!!

@Sez281 thank you that’s reassuring to know! How are you feeling at 11 weeks!? Xx

Nic2908 · 20/03/2024 22:11

@LER2023 send some eggs my way. I’m a ward manager of a children’s ward and so far we have not had a single egg donated 🫣🫣 I’m going to be running to the shop the day before at this rate!

still no nipt results for me yet, it’s been a week tomorrow!! I’m going to try and ring and chase them up because the suspense is killing me. I’m also quietly dreading my 12 week scan on monday incase it’s bad news. I’m trying to be positive but I just wish it was here already.

Nic2908 · 20/03/2024 22:14

@AnnieApple123 it’s really your choice lovely. But this is the most phenomenally supportive group. No holding back we say it as we are feeling because we have all been there x

Sez281 · 21/03/2024 06:38

@H20202 I'm ok thanks. Well to be honest the nausea and tiredness has extremely ramped up and I'm feeling awful but I'm hoping this is the peak of it as I believe hcg should start to drop soon and we enter the "magical" 2nd trimester that I've heard so much about out 😂 Hopefully the next few days before your scan flies by so you can have some reassurance 🤞

@Nic2908 Did you get the results that are tested in a lab in the UK or the US? Mine are UK but I live in Ireland so expecting it to take a bit longer. Honestly I don't think the scan anxiousness ever goes away. I have my 12 week one Monday too. You'd think because everything looked good on Tuesday I'd be more relaxed but nope, it lasted less than 24 hours 😣 Hopefully you hear back about Nipt today, or at least before the weekend! 🙏

Funny enough, when ours came in yesterday we managed to split them all for the wards and gave them to play workers to hand out to wards by next week so they can hand them to the children on easter.
a lot of them will be given their eggs by thursday next week as friday is bank holiday. Dont panic, go ask if you have a charity hub whats to be expected! (If you have a charity hub that is😅 sorry had tk edit that in! Good luck with your NIPT results fingers crossed you get some answers to put you at ease X

We had our 8 week scan today, I had a little emotional breakdown as we walked into the scan room! Anyway, little bubs is measuring perfectly, slightly ahead at 8+3, lovely strong heartbeat and we saw some 8 week wiggles ❤ the relief was immense. I'm thinking about doing NIPT, will have a look and a think. I know it's a long road from here but for today, this is such a wonderful feeling. Ladies, your support up to this point has been so valuable, so thanks to you all x

You've possibly got another 2 - 4 weeks of pondering with the NIPT testing, just take some time to think about it! Best thing you can do. Im glad everything went well today!! X

Aww that's lovely news @Hopingrae 💓 The relief must be unreal, especially as finding it so upsetting walking in (I'm pretty sure we all have forms of ptsd from our losses) I'm so glad it went well and hope the infection and nausea has eased for you a little 🤞

Nic2908 · 21/03/2024 17:12

@LER2023 you don’t need to go this is for any pregnancy after loss. Not just for October babies.

@Hopingrae perfect that’s so lovely for you. Your sister in law was right.

not so great news for me today. Nipt results came back, little girl. But high probability for Turner’s syndrome. My 12 week scan has been moved forward to tomorrow and I no have to have amniocentesis and genetic testing. I feel like I have had the wind take from underneath all over again.

Figtree11 · 21/03/2024 17:23

That’s amazing news @Hopingrae I’m so happy for you! What a relief it must feel to have such a positive scan.

I’m so sorry @Nic2908 it must have been so upsetting to get that news. I hope you have some clearer answers from your scan tomorrow

Hopingrae · 21/03/2024 17:32

@Nic2908 oh my love, I'm so sorry it feels like the ground has gone beneath you again. That's a lot for you to have to process. It's right that you're scan has been moved forward so you're not having to wait and you can get the best picture of where you are. Will you get to see a consultant tomorrow? I'm so sorry you're having to go through this worry and I hope you have good people around you to support you. Sending a massive hand hold x

Oh @Nic2908 my hearts going out to you right now! Im so sorry sweet.
Atleast theyve pulled forward your 12 week scan! You shouldnt have to go through this though!!

Is there a possibility it could be wrong? I hope so. Thinking of you 💐 ❤️

Sez281 · 21/03/2024 18:47

Oh @Nic2908 I'm so sorry that this is happening. There is nothing anybody can say 😢 I'm glad that they are seeing you tomorrow. Hopefully they can talk you through the exact figures more thoroughly and what your options might be going forward regarding more testing etc. I'm sure you're in the best possible hands. Will be thinking of you xx

Nic2908 · 21/03/2024 21:10

I swear I must have been a mass murderer in a former life. It’s not like I’ve not been through enough all ready. I feel utterly numb. And to top it off I’m pretty sure ive just started bleeding. It’s just a very pale pink discharge almost

@Nic2908 oh you poor thing I can only imagine how you're feeling right now 😢 You've done nothing in this life or a past one to deserve this. I'm not religious and it's times like this that remind me why, it's because life is so f**ing cruel at times. Give your DS a cuddle and take any support you can from friends and family. I hope the hospital look after you first thing in the morning xx
