Pregnancy after loss support

Hi ladies, I've recently found out I'm pregnant again after 2 losses in a row. I'm very lucky to have a DS and I had another MC before I had him. So 3 losses in total. I'm only 4+4, but got faint positive 11 days ago at 9dpo and it feels like I've been pregnant for aaaages but time is moving so slowly. We've booked an early scan when I'll be 8 weeks exactly so waiting it out until then, and hoping nothing happens in between. I wondered if anyone else is in a similar position and wanted to share this early journey with me. I've decided not to tell anyone this time round, a lot of my close friends are dealing with newborns or their own ivf journeys and I don't want to add any load to anyone. But it feels like a huge load to me so would love to share with someone!

@LER2023 thinking of you, I hope that you are ok and that everything went well today.

LER2023 · 19/03/2024 06:04

Morning everyone! So sorry for not getting back yesterday. It was crazy!

So we went for the scan, they couldnt see very much as i had a lot of bowel gas? Apparently its common! I also have a tilted uterus, so its even more awkward to see anything!! Baby was apparently measuring 7+2 yesterday! So im happy!
Definitely not as far as i thought i was! But thats based off the LMP!
still no bleeding which is a good sign! She says its normal to see what we saw at 7 weeks and 2 days, but we have a perfect little sack and the chemicals around it are showing that the pregnancy is absolutely fine and she doesnt have any concerns!

Nic2908 · 19/03/2024 06:21

@LER2023 yey!!!!!

30somethingttc · 19/03/2024 06:54

@LER2023 thats great news!!!

Figtree11 · 19/03/2024 06:55

@LER2023 fabulous!

LER2023 · 19/03/2024 07:06

Such a relief! We told his sister last night and she was over the moon🤭
She wanted to keep the scan picture which was the worst scan picture ever😅
We gave it to her hoping it would have 7+2 on it but it was cut off when printed so we was really disappointed so had to send her all the pictures of the scan lol!
She asked if she could come to the 12 week scan and when we said yes she instantly put it in her diary🤣

30somethingttc · 19/03/2024 07:42

@LER2023 that's so sweet!!

Do you think you’ll wait til your 12 week scan now?
we have ours on 16th April and I feel really nervous about not having a scan in-between now and then and wonder if we do one privately next weekend when I am just over 9 weeks.
I wish the scan put me at ease, which it did for about 2 days and then yesterday I’ve sunk back into worrying and anxiety about it not continuing to develop. Anyone else struggling with that too?
doesn't help that the blood clot is still there and I’m bleeding every now and again!

Sez281 · 19/03/2024 07:57

@LER2023 that's great news. I'm sure you're so relieved that you can book midwife etc now!

@30somethingttc I totally get it. I have my Nipt bloods and scan later today and I am dreading it 😣 It's been 2 weeks since my last scan and like you I felt relief for a couple of days but the dread has started to creep back in that something has happened in that time.

I'm sorry to hear that you're still spotting, I know that doesn't help with the anxiety but I'm sure everything is fine. If you don't think you can wait until the 16th I don't see the harm in getting a private one next weekend for some reassurance

30somethingttc · 19/03/2024 08:08

@Sez281 thank you, the hospital have said bleeding is normal with a clot so trying to blank it out! I might book it so I have got it in as I only have to pay a small deposit and then decide nearer the time depending on how I’m feeling.
good luck for your bloods and scan! Let us know how you get on!

Hopingrae · 19/03/2024 08:16

@LER2023 this is positive news! Did you get to see the heartbeat? Have you got your 12 week scan booked already? Hopefully not long to wait?!

@30somethingttc that's hard if you're bleeding, even if there is a reason for it i can see why it's disconcerting for you. Could you maybe see how you feel next week and book a last minute scan of your feel that might help? I know the private scan places around here tend to have quite short notice availability.

@Sez281 wishing you all the best today with your scan! I know that pre scan dread feeling very well, hopefully it will be alleviated and you'll be reassured. Let us know how you go x

Sez281 · 19/03/2024 08:19

@30somethingttc yeah it's definitely normal to bleed with one. They saw a sub chronic haematoma on my first couple of scans and said I may bleed (I think the progesterone I'm on is the only thing that stopped it) that's a good idea paying a little deposit and having one booked in case you feel you need it, at least you'll have it there just in case you feel yourself getting worried 👌

Sez281 · 19/03/2024 08:22

Thanks @Hopingrae I'm glad to hear that you're going ahead with your scan this week too. What day have you got it booked? Not too long to wait I hope!

Figtree11 · 19/03/2024 16:16

Hope your scan goes ok today @Sez281

How’s everyone doing? I’m feeling sick today - sat at my desk struggling!
Rang up by GP yesterday to arrange for the midwife to ring me to arrange a booking appointment.
Still thinking I’ll wait til the 12wk scan to have a first scan. But if I get that far, 6+ weeks feels a long time to wait

Hopingrae · 19/03/2024 16:42

@Sez281 my scan is on Thurs. Hope you got OK today with yours.

@Figtree11 I've been in bed with tonsillitis the last couple of days, managed to get antibiotics today so hopefully I'll be feeling a lot better by then (bar nausea!). Seems to be everything happening at once at the mo! Poor you, nausea is horrible. I've been given cyclizine and it does seem to have taken the edge off. If it gets worse, you don't need to suffer!

Ahhhh my birthday is april 16th!! Must be a good luck charm for sure! I'll definitely be waiting until my next scan, 13th of april is my next scan! Its definitely nerve wracking but its wirth the wait knowing everything is okay. Have yiu seen the EPU about your bleeding?

@Sez281 how did you get on today?

30somethingttc · 19/03/2024 19:55

@LER2023
ahhh what a coincidence! I thought yours might be similar as we have similar dates!
the EPU have been great, but not very reassuring on the SCH. They haven’t said it’s bad or that it’s nothing to worry about so a bit unsure. We have our booking in appointment tomorrow so going to go through everything with the midwife and will see what they think! Quite excited for it as we didn’t get to that stage last time!!

@Figtree11 @Hopingrae joining you on the nausea! Why do they call it morning sickness when you get the full day experience!

Sez281 · 19/03/2024 20:12

Thanks for all the messages ladies.., So we got to hear the heartbeat which we weren't expecting as we've only seen it before and not heard it 💓 it was very emotional 🥹 She said everything looks well and took measurements but said to wait for my consultant to give us the due date by size next Monday at my "12 week" scan. (I'll only be 11+4 but it was only date they had available)

Hopefully I’ll have blood results around then too. As it stands because of my age etc my risk of certain chromosomal abnormalities are 50:1 😕 I'm going to try not to think too much about it though and look at it more like 100:2. Just got to get through the next week or so 🙏

My nausea is the worst it has been today but I think the positive scan makes it all worth while. I just have to keep reminding myself of that 🙈🤢

Sorry to hear you're struggling so much @Hopingrae Glad you got antibiotics and hopefully the tablets work for the nausea too🤞 . I think if mine hasn't eased over next few days I might ask GP about meds too, it's just about manageable at the moment but I don't think I could if it gets any worse

Sez281 · 19/03/2024 20:14

@Figtree11 sorry I thought I'd replied to your message. 6 weeks does seem like a long time to wait but if you think you can manage and have lots of distractions then hopefully it flies by for you. If not maybe book a private one just for some reassurance at 8/9 weeks maybe?

Awh!! Thats fantastic! Im so glad everything went well!!😁
They have to give those numbers though, make you expect the worst! But i think everything will be fine and you'll have the most beautiful bundle of joy!

@Hopingrae would the antibiotics do anything to the anti sickness tablets your taking? Im still just feeling very tired and sore everywhere, the gas is ridiculous and i keep having to have my picture taken at work as its coming to easter and all the corporate people keep bringing us eggs😅

Figtree11 · 20/03/2024 07:28

Morning everyone. The nausea subsided last night & so far today it’s not come back yet.
But now I’m worried about lack of sore breasts. They have been sore every day since just after finding out I was pregnant. And today they aren’t sore. With my MMC I had a reduction in symptoms which I didn’t think twice about at the time.

Now I’ve gone down a google rabbit hole worrying that something is wrong.

Sez281 · 20/03/2024 08:12

@Figtree11 it's a double edged sword. I give out about feeling so sick but I know I'll freak out when they ease 🙈 I was about the same gestation as you when I woke up with my boobs less sore one morning. I panicked and drove an hour away to a private clinic for bloods. Of course my boobs were sore again by the time I got home 🤷‍♀️ So just keep reminding yourself that it's totally normal for them to come and go. And try stay away from google (easier said than done I know!)

@LER2023 thanks, I knew my risk level would be high as I'm 41, hopefully the bloods come back ok though. Hope you feel a bit better soon! Did you register with midwife now?

H20202 · 20/03/2024 08:25

Morning all, can I join?
I had an ectopic last year, first pregnancy since, no children.
Im 5+2 and I’ve got my first scan on Monday (6w) to check in right place. I feel really envious of my people who don’t give a single thought to it not being uterine 😔I’ve struggled so much with other peoples pregnancies and this week would have been my due date. I’ve been having MC dreams since I tested positive at 9DPO.
symptoms wise (waves of sick, dry mouth, really sore boobs, very mild cramping on and off) feel they are much more pronounced than last time, my ectopic symptoms were basically chronic side and back pain and constant trapped wind feeling so the fact I’ve had none of that this time is reassuring but I don’t want to get ahead of myself.
wish me luck for Monday please I really don’t think I’ll cope well if it’s bad news 🙏🙏🙏

Hopingrae · 20/03/2024 09:46

@Sez281 that's really lovely to read that you got to hear a heartbeat! Magical. And glad you don't have to wait long until your next scan. All sounding positive! Like you say, I think those odds automatically increase with age on all the "systems" they use to work these things out, I would try not to worry. If the consultant is concerned about anything they'll bring it up with you but otherwise should be ok 🙏 just gives something else to think about doesn't it.

@Figtree11 changes in symptoms always feel a bit jarring for sure. It's so hard not knowing what is going on in our bodies too. As hard as it is, try to step away from Google...its the devil's work sometimes!! I know how easy it can be to fall down that pesky rabbit hole. Maybe see how you feel over next day or two. But don't be afraid to call gp for epu referral to get checked out if you feel you need it, they should take worries seriously with history of previous loss. Sending hugs your way.

I'm still off work with tonsillitis, but as that improves slightly I feel like I've got the most hideous hangover in the background. I'm not sure if I'll end up getting signed off work for a bit, will see how I feel in next few days. I do a clinical role in the nhs and sometimes I'm with families for 3 hours in one go and there is no way I can do that atm. Also, don't know if anyone else gets this, I seem to associate feeling very sick with anxiety/ being worried about something which then seems to make me worry more about feeling sick and it goes round and round if that makes sense? Really do hate nausea. Blurgh. Starting to feel glad to get the scan out the way tomorrow so we know where we stand for now at least.

@H20202 you're very welcome to the thread! So sorry for your previous loss. Congratulations on your new pregnancy. We all know how scary pregnancy after loss can be, sending you a hand hold. I hope Monday comes round quickly for you for your scan and that everything is in the right place. It's interesting your symptoms feel different and more noticeable to last time, hopefully that's a nice positive sign. Definitely everything crossed for you 🙏

Thanks so much that’s really kind of you to say.

I didn’t have any sickness/dry mouth last time and boobs were only a little tender: my hcg was very low though at 150 when I first went in. The cramps and discomfort was another level though, VERY sore in my 5th week which is when I presented at EPAU.

this time feels very different - more ‘normal’ just hope it’s all a good sign but don’t want to get too excited 🥺 x
