This weather is driving me insane!
I feel stuck in this flat constantly cos it's too windy/wet to be taking little man out. I don't drive so can't even escape via car for a bit

CheeseAndCrackersx · 09/04/2024 20:13

Random but those who little 1s have had their first jabs; what did they wear?
I dunno whether sleep suit or outfit is best cos I dunno where they put the needle

Go into their legs so a sleep suit or I'd say leggings.

It's been grim here today!

I don't mind walking in the rain with their rain cover on and myself wrapped up. (Not like todays rain though we've got floods all over)
Can't deal with the wind though.

@anony1111 thankfully for me the sweating has eased up the last couple of days. The night sweats were the worst but I haven't had any for the past week and I'm hoping it stays that way 😊

HopeAndStrength · 10/04/2024 09:51

Yes my little one wore a sleep suit and had one jab in each thigh. @CheeseAndCrackersx

anony1111 · 10/04/2024 10:43

@undercoverhero74 they are still going strong for me 😩 even daytime it's awful! Glad they have past for you though.

Turns out my little Leo had a tongue tie, we were struggling with feeding and being unsettled amongst other symptoms so we had it divided yesterday privately. It was awful for both of us but his feeding improved instantly! I never knew a tongue tie could cause so much problems going forward in life, not just as a baby.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 10/04/2024 11:23

Dancing fruits is now my life 😂

redxlondon · 10/04/2024 21:51

I am loving all the baby classes. I have seen lots for older babies and toddlers, but it makes me so sad that they are all midweek. I don’t understand how anyone is meant to do them after maternity leave ends, wondering if flexi working will make it possible but seems crazy to take the little one out of nursery.
What’s everyone’s plans for the first two years? I’ll be back to work in September full time, but going to use my accrued holiday to do 3 or 4 days weeks if possible without just cramming my 5 days into 3 or 4.

Cheetocat · 11/04/2024 00:06

My little guy had his 2 month jabs today, gave him booby immediately after which really calmed him and one dose of paracetamol when he was sore in the afternoon. He's been so sleepy all day but still feeding and such. Babywearing really helped us today when he wanted the comfort of being close to me.

A friend gave us a Rascal + Friends nappy to try, we've been using pampers which I'm happy with but wow R+F feel luxurious and look so comfy for baby with how stretchy they are.

KayakingBex · 11/04/2024 06:05

@redxlondon ive been wondering the same. My work is agreeing to flexible hours when I go back next January as the nursery we are using has no availability Wednesdays so I’m dropping my hours down to 31.5 from 35 and having slightly longer days on the other 4 days. My husband works a 4 day week already so little one will just be in Monday Tuesday and Thursday. Husband will cover Friday and I’ll cover the Wednesday. Appreciate we are lucky to be able to do this.

LavenderSweetPea · 11/04/2024 09:59

@redxlondon I'll be going back in January, hopefully 4 days a week while baby will be at nursery. To be honest though I doubt I'll find time to do baby classes and such even if they were at the weekend. Taking care of the house, the dog, laundry, life admin and seeing our family & friends will probably be more than we have time for once I'm back at work! Tbh I barely manage to stay on top of it now....

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/04/2024 13:18

@redxlondon I'm also going back full time in September.

For our toddler we do classes at 9am ish at the weekend, and they are packed. We are up early anyway 🤣 and then have the full days to do stuff afterwards.

Also I book random mornings off sometimes and do last minute Hartbeeps cancellations if they come up. Honestly mostly though we have just taken turns to clock off a bit early every week and collect him from nursery at say 3.45pm and head to soft play or the park, and he loves that.

They do so much sensory with them at nursery, and they have their little gangs of friends there, so classes as such aren't really needed anymore.

Cheetocat · 11/04/2024 14:16

Am I the only one who thought c-section recovery was only 6 weeks long and that after the six weeks it would be as if I never had surgery st all? I was very naive. 🤣

msp2023 · 11/04/2024 15:38

How is everyone entertaining their babies all day?
Sometimes I struggle to keep her occupied or wonder what to do with her... the days are starting to feel so long 🤔

Today we went for a 45 min walk, had some sensory play time, tummy time, singing time... and it's not even 4pm yet. I know there's only a few hours of the day left but I'm wondering what to do 🫣

LavenderSweetPea · 11/04/2024 17:21

@msp2023 I know what you mean, it's a bit tricky sometimes to know how to entertain. Some suggestions:

Bouncy chair or swing - mine likes to sit in his for roughly 30 minutes. Bonus is I can do some cleaning or whatever while he's in it. Alternatively you can massage their feet while they sit

Arrange coffee with mum friends - try and walk somewhere if you can so baby can sleep in pram on the way there and back, then have a wake window while you are there, just sit them on your lap and let them look around at the cafe

Swimming - if you can find a local pool warm enough for little little ones

Take photos! Have a little photo session each week so you can look back and see them grow - put them on a nice blanket and have them in a different outfit each week and maybe with toys etc so you've got a record of their cute tiny clothes

Bath time - mine loves a bath so we do it every day

Bubble time - literally lie them down awake and blow bubbles for them to look at

Reading - sit them on your lap facing the book and read to them. Tbh if you want it doesn't really need to be a children's book, at this stage they mostly just like the sound of your voice. You can read something that actually interests you.

Dancing - play music and spin around, bob up and down and generally move about. Bonus for this is it's about the only exercise I really get now!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 11/04/2024 21:43

Anyone else find their little 1 was worse the 2nd day/night after their needles. Little man has been hysterical sometimes 🙈

msp2023 · 11/04/2024 22:19

@LavenderSweetPea aghhhh you're a diamond, thank you my love! 💗

Baby girl hates the bouncer for more than ten mins but hoping she'll get used to it!

I don't have any mum friends in the area which sucks and the decent groups are 20+ mins away! Hoping to start a sensory group in the next few weeks which will be nice.

Crap swimming pools here too so have to just sign up to proper baby swim classes soon.

I'm sure we'll get in the swing of things but I find myself wondering if she's bored or sick of staring at the same toys!

Sunshineclouds11 · 11/04/2024 22:21

@msp2023
Very similar to pp, we do;

Walks
Bubbles
Balloons (she likes to watch them being thrown up in the air and land near her)
Songs
Swing chair
Play gym/mat
Water sensory mat
Baths (luckily she loves them, currently bath her in the day atm until a proper routine starts)
Black and white cards
And sometimes she just likes to sit and have a cuddle and watch whatever I've got on the tele.

We don't do all of this is every day.
I'm going to start some baby classes in the next few weeks.

Sunshineclouds11 · 11/04/2024 22:22

@msp2023 download peanut app, it's abit like tinder but for mums in your area. You may be luckily and find some new friends

Ebonythoughts · 12/04/2024 00:54

I’m sure babies are meant to enjoy car rides because of the engine sound/vibration…..so someone please tell me why my 8 week old still screams every time we go for a drive? We’ve tried everything to settle her and even tried putting her in the car while she’s asleep but she just wakes up and screams.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any tricks we could try? .

Sunshineclouds11 · 12/04/2024 09:06

@Ebonythoughts
Try a car seat toy that attaches to handles so she has something to look at.
Play white noise through the car or nursery rhymes/sing.

DmcinT · 12/04/2024 11:19

@Ebonythoughts this is so distressing, we’ve had the same. I find when I have her on my own I put her in the passenger seat beside me and have my hand on her, talk to her she’s not as distressed (still screams at lights or if we’re in traffic) but when the car is going she’s ok.
I haven’t mastered what to do if she’s in the back, I think they just feel alone or something, I don’t know but even if I sit in there with her she screams until she’s purple and starts choking, it’s horrible.

I had my post pregnancy period 18 days ago according to my health app, I'm having another now. Has anyone else had this?

Which health app? Not sure what you mean but I haven’t had my period yet.
