@Ebonythoughts that sounds really rough, especially when overnight and less help available. I struggle to wind my baby and my DH is much better than me but don't want to interrupt his sleep too much.
Controversial but I'm not sure if it's as I enforce a cut off point but my baby doesn't really cluster feed. If he's fed 20-40mins with a nappy change in between boobs to perk him up, my boobs have gone from full to soft and he keeps slipping to nipple or unlatching himself despite winding then he gets handed to my DH to settle with instructions to hold him upright for 30 mins (helps with wind and reflux) and get him to sleep for minimum 1 hour (includes any sleep in the upright period) using sling, dummy, etc much rocking and shushing to accomplish it. I then go sleep and might get 1-2h. My supply seems fine, plenty of wet and dirty nappies but obviously YMMV but can't hurt as a one off?
If he vomited after the formula then doesn't sound like he needed it. I saw an infographic about measuring wet nappies to gauge if can reduce formula top ups, will see if if can find it - basically aiming 5-6 wees 45-60ml but if far exceeding that then can reduce the formula as defo getting enough. If weigh wet nappy then take off weight of dry nappy then get ml in grams (minus a bit for any poop).
There is a growth spurt at 7-10 days so it could be that but if no let up then see what you think about trying above. But I find the 5 mins on boob half assed then few mins microsleep then back on boob for 5 mins means it's relentless and I get no sleep so not sustainable. I've done this from day 6 and had good weight gain at day 10 review. I measured the nappies for reassurance but might be seen as overboard. And I use an app called Huckleberry to help me time feeds and monitor his output.
I have a weight check in a couple of weeks so will know then if I've buggered my supply I guess! 🙈
But as long as he feeds well, sleeps well with decent nappies and alert spells then gonna continue.
