@CheeseAndCrackersx cot beds are larger and then convert to toddler beds!

My FIL does wood work so he's made us a cot 😊 we'll be using this and then will transition to a bed when ready. Works better for us as we hope to have baby number 2 in a few years (touch wood). So no need to buy doubles of things and hopefully they can rotate into the appropriate sized bed as necessary 💕

CheeseAndCrackersx · 01/06/2024 12:55

That's very good point @msp2023
We're planning to start trying again when little man is 18 months old so will be 2 if had another so thats good point for not buying 2. Thank you xx

CheeseAndCrackersx · 01/06/2024 18:13

I'm gonna sound so daft now but what are your littles ones teething signs (if any yet) I'm so unsure if little man is or not and I don't wanna give him anything if he's just chomping his hands for the sake of it and just having a day of being niggly for no reason

We're in the depths of teething.
DS got his first at 4 month so she's following suit.

They do normally put hands in mouth and it causes saliva but teething dribble is quite excessive.
Really irritated, nothing pacifies them.
I can see the teeth on her gums

CheeseAndCrackersx · 01/06/2024 19:26

Do you bottle feed @Sunshineclouds11 cos today little man has also been really fussy during feeds. Like you can tell he wants to eat and is hungry but it's like the bottle is irritating his mouth so he won't take much.

And he's been really irritable at nap times and like whinging in his sleep too.

It's so hard when they can't tell you what's wrong 🙈

Sunshineclouds11 · 01/06/2024 19:41

@CheeseAndCrackersx Yeah bottle fed, she's also been fussy. I'm having to fed little and often.

Same! She's waking screaming 😭 sleep has gone to pot.

I'm trying everything to help her, neurofen has helped and it lasts 8 hours.

I'm counting down the days till she's 5 months for anbesol liquid!

RachLeeds · 02/06/2024 21:33

Ashton’s and Parsons teething gel is really good, it’s best to keep re-applying it through the day/before feeds as it creates a barrier on the gums. I’m not sure how it works but it does! Also, the granules are supposed to be good that you use twice a day but I can’t use them because Charlie is lactose intolerant 🙈

CheeseAndCrackersx · 05/06/2024 20:10

Am I a bad mum for not contact napping anymore? I haven't for over a week now cos I find he settles & naps better in the crib away from any noise/disturbances but I've just had a mum guilt moment thinking does it seem like I don't want him at nap time & At 16 weeks have I done this too soon 🙈

I always stay with him whilst he settles for naps and bed, shushing him, holding his hand, rocking his crib a little bit. He's never left to cry it out.

Sunshineclouds11 · 05/06/2024 20:56

@CheeseAndCrackersx I only contact nap if she wakes earlier than she should to make sure she has a full/good sleep otherwise she's left to sleep.

Doesn't make you a bad mum, it's good for them to get used to sleeping on their own.

Cheetocat · 07/06/2024 00:04

How do you rest if baby is doing this? I'm terrified of him being in any other position than on his back. 😰

CheeseAndCrackersx · 07/06/2024 20:19

@Cheetocat I think I read somewhere that once babies can roll they will sleep on their side as it's where they're mostly comfortable.
So I don't think can stop them once it starts just try moving him more middle on his side maybe if him pressed against the side of his crib is what worries you x

Sunshineclouds11 · 07/06/2024 20:26

@Cheetocat Can they roll both ways?
My 1st could roll into front but couldn't go from front to back for awhile so I had to keep putting him back on his back.

Cheetocat · 08/06/2024 06:11

@CheeseAndCrackersx He doesn't tend to stay on his side, he just rolls around like mad and scoots up and down the bassinet. He's only doing it while awake, he still only falls asleep in our arms most days and will stay on his back once transferred.

@Sunshineclouds11 He can roll both ways now but he is favouring his front since learning to roll that way, I haven't seen him go back to his back after rolling to his front yet. He only does it to get out if tummy time. 🤣

CheeseAndCrackersx · 08/06/2024 12:07

I can't believe it's been a year today since I had that faint pink line appear 🥰 I didn't even have chance to be late on my period I just felt strange 😄

Sunshineclouds11 · 08/06/2024 19:32

@CheeseAndCrackersx Mine was the other day! It's crazyz

Anyone else's hair starting fall out? I'm finding it absolutely everywhere

DmcinT · 08/06/2024 20:18

@Sunshineclouds11 oh no I was thinking at 4 months I might have escaped it if it hasn’t happened at this stage but it can still happen?
@Cheetocat how do u transfer to cot/bassinet? Literally everytime I do it she wakes…I put her down so so so slowly, legs/bum first etc.. but it’s taking my hand from under her head, I just can’t seem to do it in a way that doesn’t wake her and she gets so upset realising what I’m doing.

Cheetocat · 08/06/2024 23:22

@DmcinT It's so hard, I mainly go by time, about 25 to 30 minutes from when he fell asleep (only works for night sleep after 7pm) I place him down bum first and then lay my hand on his chest for a few seconds. If he wakes from night sleep after that and just has some comfort booby I don't have to wait, can just transfer him. He suffers with painful trapped wind every day so he has no routine but generally he'll sleep from around 11:30pm to 4am in the bassinet, then he'll wake up with gas pains, fart on the boob and then keep waking every hour or two until 10am when he has his first proper wake window.

Sunshineclouds11 · 09/06/2024 05:37

@DmcinT Still time unfortunately it's been so bad!

I didn’t think I’d had the magical hair thickening but now I realised I did. Hair coming out in huge clumps the last week and now feels so thin, but really probably just back to how it was.

It’s tough, but I’ve spent time trying to get him to self settle in crib, lots of shushing and rocking crib. This helps him learn to fall asleep solo.

msp2023 · 13/06/2024 21:55

We just got back from our first family holiday 🥹🥹 sounds ridiculous but I just feel so proud.
4 Months ago, I could never have imagined doing this with (somewhat) ease. We had the loveliest time :) if anyone is thinking about doing it but worried, I would say don't think too much, book it and just do it! It was so worth the stress beforehand of packing and worrying etc.
Truly feels like a milestone and feeling so chuffed with motherhood 💗 end sappy post

Cheetocat · 14/06/2024 10:44

@msp2023 That's lovely, glad it went well for you!
