@anony1111 We're going through the exact same thing, my 6 week old little boy just screams the whole time we're in the car. We went on a short drive in the evening and he was just so upset and uncomfortable that I almost cried myself because I felt so guilty about taking him out.

We've got an appointment later so I'll try the looser clothes/nappy and a toy for him to look at when we're going there and back.

I always try to talk or sing to him to calm him down but I forget all the rhymes and songs when I'm on the spot and end up singing something inappropriate 🤣

anony1111 · 27/03/2024 09:58

@Cheetocat sorry you're going through it too, it's so stressful hearing them cry isn't it? I tried the looser nappy this morning and he definitely seemed less distressed.
I mean if it works 🤣 he doesn't understand what your saying yet so go with it 😂😂

novamama · 27/03/2024 11:10

@anony1111 my little one is not a friend of the car seat either, bloody murder as you say, the screams that come out haunt me still. I basically stopped driving with her on my own until..

The major breakthrough for us was that she finally took a pacifier 3 days ago after the 193629263929 models and types we've tried for the last 3 weeks. This helped me drive her to her vaccine yesterday, on our own, in peace. It felt like I won the lottery.

@Thewildthingsarewithme yes I did feel like that definitely, because it was healing so well before I ruined it. Saw Dr a couple days into taking the antibiotics, and she said it's healed really well inside and it's just an infection has managed to get into the skin bit of the wound.

She said the salt water thing you suggested is really good @msp2023 as well as using a hairdryer on it for a few minutes twice a day. When it heals a bit more I'll try the tea tree oil too.

She said that as soon as the infection has cleared up and I've finished the antibiotics I should get back to exercising, but be careful on any ab stuff. And I can try to lift my son very carefully once it's looking better. Was worried it would put me back to square one

anony1111 · 27/03/2024 14:41

@novamama that's great! I bet it's such a relief for you! The screams are awful aren't they 😩 my boy does have a dummy but doesn't seem bothered for it in the day only mainly on a night. We have the school run twice a day so I'm hoping with the other suggestions and frequency of going in the car he will soon be happier

6 week sleep regression is in full force 🙈

6 week sleep regression is in full force 🙈

Afternoon sleeps have been hell for us 😂
Fighting sleep. Awake for hours. Once down wakes up 🫠

CheeseAndCrackersx · 27/03/2024 21:44

Same here @Sunshineclouds11 🙈
I'd say he's practically been awake since 8am with the odd 5 min nap here or there today.

Sunshineclouds11 · 27/03/2024 21:53

@CheeseAndCrackersx
😩 It's hard isn't it and reminded me of all the other regressions to come 🥺

She's eventually gave in as of 21;45, scared to put her in Moses but I've been up since 04:30 so I'm desp for sleep.

KayakingBex · 27/03/2024 22:32

Glad it’s not just me. Baby is determined to be awake all day now unless falls asleep on me! Even then he doesn’t always stay asleep 🫠. I manage to force a nap sometimes by popping him in the sling and going for a walk.

Sunshineclouds11 · 27/03/2024 23:23

Hour and half later and she's back down again 😂🫠
Everyone I've put her down from before she's woke, even after waiting til she's in a deep sleep.

Wishing everyone a good night shift 🙏🏼

DmcinT · 28/03/2024 02:18

just Monday (6 weeks) my LO started having a lot more awake time aswel, just taking small little 10min cat naps here and there but yesterday she was back to longer naps. I think it’s one of those wee developmental stages.
is anyone else using gripe water and it’s getting rid of wind great but making baby be sick a bit? That’s twice now baby has been sick since I started using it but she’s never been sick or spit up or literally spilled a drop before.

Sunshineclouds11 · 28/03/2024 10:02

@DmcinT we use gripe but I just dip her dummy in it, are you putting in bottle?

CalFairy · 28/03/2024 10:10

My little one is 6 weeks tomorrow and has been fighting naps and extra fussy this past week! I have the wonder weeks app and seen that it was a leap. Reading your comments it all sounds similar.

Does anyone’s little one cry in their sleep? I’ve noticed every night from around 5am until waking for morning feed she’s super unsettled in her next to me. Crying like she’s in pain but she’s fast asleep. Sometimes she stops if I put her on my chest or lean over and move her around a bit. Is it wind do you think? Or reflux? She’s fine lying down in the days.

DmcinT · 28/03/2024 11:00

@Sunshineclouds11 I do the same, just dip the dummy but I’ve read loads now about it giving reflux because it’s quite acidic. It’s horrible because it’s like she retches/chokes a bit and then bring up a small bit of sick but I get such a fright and so does she. Only thing we’ve changed is giving her the gripe so I’m thinking it must be that

CheeseAndCrackersx · 28/03/2024 13:06

Does anyone else feel sore/tender down below after walking a lot? It's happened a few times to me now and my legs also get tired

anony1111 · 28/03/2024 16:23

I was just coming to mention about the wonder weeks app @CalFairy

I'd really recommend it, I used it with my first baby and found it really informative and helpful. It tells you when your baby is going through a mental leap and learning new skills etc. it gives you tips and tricks on how to help them and explains how your baby perceives the world/surroundings at that time.

Tbh it helped my sanity too as I knew baby wasn't just being fussy/crying more for no reason 😂

Leo has just hit leap one and the routine he had got himself into with feeding is totally out the window the past couple of days

msp2023 · 28/03/2024 16:24

How have your babies fared after first set of jabs? Baby girl has basically slept the whole day and isn't drinking much :( even tried the bottle which she normally guzzles regardless of whether she's hungry or not but she's refusing.
I presume this is all normal but would like to know how other babies are doing :)

anony1111 · 28/03/2024 16:26

@CheeseAndCrackersx it doesn't make me sore as such but it gives me period like pains/cramps. I'm only 4weeks pp so guessing it will ease eventually. Have you had your 6week check yet? If not I would mention it there

CheeseAndCrackersx · 28/03/2024 20:03

I really wish I liked how I looked on pics with little man 🙈
Ones where I'm looking at him lovingly I just look at and think "look at my double chins" or where I'm caught smiling at him I'm like "look at my teeth" I bloody hate any pic of me unless I've took them 😖

LavenderSweetPea · 28/03/2024 20:39

,@CalFairy my baby definitely does this cry in the sleep thing. He usually does it after his second night guilt wake up, and never during day time naps. He sounds and looks like he's in a lot of discomfort, I wonder if it's wind causing it.

CharXo · 29/03/2024 15:16

So I’m still fighting for a CMPA diagnosis 😅 health visitor agrees that he is uncomfortable and has an allergy/intolerance of some sort but trying to get a doctors appointment has been absolutely impossible this week. We have our 8week appointment next week and his vaccinations so I’m going to have to just wing it until then I think, but it breaks my heart at feeding time seeing him so uncomfortable and crying in pain.

On a lighter note, what colour eyes do all your babies have? My big boys have brown eyes but Teddy currently has blue eyes and I’m really hoping they stay and don’t change colour! I can’t really remember what colour the older boys had as babies 🤔

Looking for people’s thoughts on this:
my MIL has mentioned a number of times how she still hasn’t had my 5/6 week old over night for a stay at her house. My husbands siblings have handed over their newborns to her for a night at 2,3 and 4 weeks old so they could go out for a night. Absolutely no judgement, it’s great for them to do that if they wanted but I have no desire to leave my newborn, I’ve said so in response but she continues to bring it up asking when she can have her 🫨😑 she thinks I’m too attached 🙄

CharXo · 29/03/2024 18:22

@DmcinT wow!!! I would defo not be handing my baby over yet!! Is it not a bit strange that she’s being so persistent?! My parents/in law would be horrified if I suggested such a thing!

“Too attached” she sounds manipulative!! Coincidence, I just posted an AIBU thread as my
MIL has requested a weekly slot to “bond” with baby. Its really upset me as we don’t get on, and she never bothered visiting much before.
MIL need no explanation if we don’t want to hand over our babies, this not a petting zoo people!!!
