@redxlondon ah I'm sorry hun, I can imagine how tough that is :( I wish I had more words of advice but I know nothing will help.
Just soak in all the alone time with baby, one day we won't get this anymore!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 11/03/2024 21:00

So back again in regards to this nappy rash my son has, I thought it was getting better but now I'm unsure. And I'm edging towards thinking it could be a yeast nappy rash, does anyone know what I can put on it?

Make a GP appointment lovely as you might need Canesten prescribing if it’s not going away. If the skin is not infected but wet/broken you need the sting free Cavilon barrier spray. That’s the only that worked for me when my baby had a horrible reaction to pampers nappies and I tried literally everything to heal it! Even prescription steroids!!

Being in hospital with my little boy is really taking a toll on my mental health. Doing the nights alone just doesn't work for us and I'm not getting any sleep. I just want to cry all the time. I miss my partner and I miss my home. Partner is only allowed in from 11am to 8pm. I nap between feeds the entire time he's here so I barely see him. It sucks.

Hey hun, if you're really struggling - ask to speak to the ward manager and see if they can grant your husband special allowance to support you overnight. They can do this is exceptional circumstances and there's no harm in asking!
Hope you are okay, just remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel 💗

RachLeeds · 11/03/2024 22:14

@Cheetocat oh you poor thing!! It must be awful - I really do sympathise. You need to have a break and give yourself a night off. Is there somebody else that can stay? How is baby doing? How long have you been in now?

Angelslookingafterus · 12/03/2024 00:25

@CheeseAndCrackersx
When my wee boy had really bad nappy rash I used Vaseline metanium & sudocrem all mixed 2gether worked great
You could also try corn flour tapped on bum this really helped to
Worth a go x

Angelslookingafterus · 12/03/2024 00:30

@Cheetocat
Stay strong you are doing an amazing job praying wee man is on the mend and home soon x

Hi ladies, I have been totally caught by my little one and have missed most of this thread, but saw the recent posts about fussy and gassy babies.

We are the same, my baba is straining so so much bless her and bicycles, hip circles and belly massage seem to help her very little. It's so heartbreaking to see her in pain and all red + all the cry.

In the last 24h however, my baby started projectile vomiting. New thing for us. After she's done it 3 times in a row I decided we go to see the GP. It seems we are free of infection, and baby stats look ok, but I was advised that if it perseveres, I will have to start eliminating things from my diet and see if the vomiting improves - starting with removing dairy. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this and what helped you?

Meeting · 12/03/2024 07:35

So after a tough few days it turns out that little one has CMPA. Hoping formula change helps but she's really struggling to get her wind up with such an upset tummy.

I saw a couple of pages ago that some people are using gripe water. Any advice on how this is used and from what age it's safe?

CheeseAndCrackersx · 12/03/2024 08:32

Got a very congested baby 🙈
It started last night, I've been awake all night cos he's been slept upright on me cos if I lay him down then he gets really upset in his sleep which I'm guessing is linked to mucus.

I'm also really pissed off tbh cos my in laws came last week & was supposedly over their colds but when they got here they honestly didn't sound like they was and now little man is poorly.... 🤨

redxlondon · 12/03/2024 08:53

My MIL came to the house with a cold - ended
up hysterically crying that she couldn’t hold the baby…and now I’m full of cold. 🤦🏼‍♀️

when my little man was congested I found albus oil on a cloth near him and putting him in bouncer in bathroom when I showered helped.

PeeBeee · 12/03/2024 09:30

Hi ladies! Is anyone bedsharing but didn’t want to? My lg is 20 days old today and I don’t want to bedshare. My hubby has been on the sofa since lg came home and I was hoping he would be back into our bed soon but it looks like most nights, the only sleep i get is side feeding in bed and I wouldn’t be comfortable with the 3 of us in bed when she’s so small.

It’s really making me consider switching to formula even though bf is going well, then I feel guilty for thinking this and that I could switch and she still might not sleep great at night🙈

KayakingBex · 12/03/2024 10:53

@PeeBeee - yes, I really really tried not to but there’s been a couple of times I decided it was the least worst option.

first time I was running on an hours sleep and was on my own as husband was working away. Baby would only sleep on me, moment I moved him he’d be awake so in the end I had him lying by the next 2 me cot in case he rolled and fed him lying on my side then we both slept for 5 hours (he was tired too)

other time he’d been cluster feeding and I had a fever + headache. Again he would wake the moment I tried to move him to the cot.

i try to do it as safely as possible and only if I’m really low on sleep and only if he won’t let me move him to the cot.

PeeBeee · 12/03/2024 11:18

@KayakingBex i cried every time i woke up realising i had fallen asleep, last night was the first time i didnt cry so must be getting more comfortable with it but really dont want to

KayakingBex · 12/03/2024 11:57

@PeeBeee it’s super tough. I always have a brief moment of panic when I wake up again checking baby is ok but I know for me and baby it’s better than trying to care for baby with no sleep at all.

Ihatewinding · 12/03/2024 13:21

@Angelslookingafterus that sounds so difficult with your partner working away. We don't have much of a local support network and it makes things so much harder for sure. Would not be able to cope without still having our 3 year old in nursery 4 days a week that's for sure!
I'm trying something new as my baby was starting to be really unhappy at feeding time and seemed like developing a feeding aversion. Think was overusing the saline spray and snotsucker at feeding times and traumatising him, so trying a period without them. He's still sniffly and snotty but bit better with feeding. Will see how get on and let you know if maybe worth trying? Was wondering whether all the saline spray was adding to the fluid congestion after 2 weeks of frequent use when would be hoping for better recovery by now.
So many lurgies going around! Got a wedding next month and probs should avoid playing pass the baby 🤔 hopefully there will be less bugs around as approach Spring 🤞🏻

Angelslookingafterus · 12/03/2024 17:19

@Ihatewinding thanks keep me posted
Tried to get him a doctors appointment this morning 36 times I called for them to tell me to try again tomorrow said it was for a baby they said if I was that concerned to go to a&e
They make you so cross x

PeeBeee · 12/03/2024 17:36

@Angelslookingafterus oh i would be so mad😡😡my docs is a bit of a joke too but credit to them, if baby is ever mentioned (with my first, thankfully not had to make an apt for Feb baby yet), they squeeze me in that day! Without question!

CharXo · 12/03/2024 17:36

@Meeting what were your little ones symptoms of the CMPA if you don’t mind me asking?

DmcinT · 12/03/2024 18:56

@PeeBeee we’ve been bed sharing since night 1, over a month now🙈 I really hadn’t planned it but she refuses to settle in the next to me so I have her beside me on the next to me side incase she were to roll. I’d love to get her into the next to me but not sure how to do it now at this stage, anyone any recommendations?

also just wondering if anyone has started exercising again (esp if after CS), I know it’s usually around 6 weeks so I’ve over a week to go yet but I’m just dying to get back doing something. Did anyone get the mummy MOT or a sign off from a physio etc?

CharXo · 12/03/2024 19:53

@DmcinT im exactly the same. Little man absolutely hates the next to me so he’s in bed next to me, next to the next to me incase he was to roll over!

i am also (5 weeks Thursday) post CS and have been doing bits and pieces.. darent say what incase I get shamed but all I can say is you know your body so do what makes you feel better.. don’t push yourself too much but if you feel like your ready to do little something then maybe try it…. Everyone heals differently and we’re all on our own journey 💞

anony1111 · 12/03/2024 20:38

Has anyone got any recommendations of what to use on baby's skin to moisturise please? It's so dry and like layers are peeling off, it's not sore just dry. I don't want to be using anything too harsh on his little body.
