I noticed the other thread was full and have started a new one.

Lovely to hear of everyone’s 20 week scans. Thanks to those of you who gave me a list of baby essentials, very helpful!

Hope you’re all doing well!

Had my 20 week scan today! The sonographer kindly wrote the sex down for us so that we can find out on our own at home later on.

She noticed there was fluid in my uterus, is this normal? She seemed a bit concerned and got her colleague in who said it was fine but I’m just wondering if anyone else had this?

She also said I have a low lying placenta so I’ve been referred to the consultant to discuss

Just found out we’re having a boy! I’m in shock as I was convinced it was a girl! So delighted though 🩵

Hello everyone ☺️ it's my first time posting here, only just found the group. 18+1 weeks, keeping the gender a surprise, already have 1 DD. Already have a massive football of a bump and often getting the comments of is there more than one 🤣. I put half my body weight on again last time and am already bigger this time so I don't hold out much hope 🤣.

Sophie3003 · 28/02/2024 16:17

Lovely to hear everyone's baby news ☺️

ceruleansky · 28/02/2024 16:59

@Morningcoffeeaddict
I'm so glad we work from home. 🤣 I could never imagine going to work in this condition.

@Oatmilktea
Congratulations on your baby boy!!!
Not sure about the fluid ):

@Sophie3003
Welcome and Congratulations!
I think we are all pretending to ignore the scale at the moment. Just to avoid more nasty shocks. 🤣 I'm also 18+1! Is your due date 31st July?

Morningcoffeeaddict · 28/02/2024 17:04

@ceruleansky - so glad to work from home when feeling rough. Much easier to give yourself 5mins (and dress for comfort) when you’re at home.

@Oatmilktea - congrats on the baby boy! No idea on the fluid to be honest, hopefully nothing to worry about.

ceruleansky · 28/02/2024 17:09

@Morningcoffeeaddict
Absolutely! Also I just gave up and stopped wearing a bra. I felt like I couldn't breathe. Nobody is going to see me anyway. Plus my tshirts have become quite fitted so I don't feel like I look weird.
I keep looking at the prices of maternity stuff and decide it's not worth it for someone working from home.

Baby was very active today. I felt at least 10 kicks/punches and kept prodding my belly to see if I'd get a reaction. 😅

On another note, is anyone planning to do a pregnancy photoshoot?

Edited

Thank you for the welcome 🤗.

Whoops sorry I am 18+6 due the 25th July and hoping for a VBAC so the consultant says I can be swept from 37 weeks so hoping baby is here before then due to my size and avoiding an induction/another caesarean!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 28/02/2024 17:17

@ceruleansky - I know what you mean about maternity clothes. Work asked if I’d go to a conference in London this week and I honestly said I didn’t fancy having to buy smart maternity wear for one afternoon. Luckily my boss was fine with that and the fact I’m exhausted. I don’t think I’d have had the guts to be so honest about that no in my first pregnancy.

wannabe123 · 28/02/2024 17:59

Has anybody started to think about names? I think being a teacher makes it so much harder. We struggled with coming up with our first son's name and now have to find another 🤦🏼‍♀️ the kids at school keep trying to procrastinate by giving me name suggestions 😂

Yes am planning on doing a maternity shoot and am currently in the process of booking. Apparently advice is to do between 30-36 weeks but as I have such a big bump I am looking towards the 30 end 🤣. Am going to do a variety of shots I think and my husband and daughter can have some with me too.

Amberellaella · 28/02/2024 18:10

@Oatmilktea great news! I’m having a boy too and it was such a shock to find out as was 1000% convinced he was going to be another girl 😂

I’m with you guys on working from home - I do two days in the office and two at home and I love not having to get properly dressed or wear makeup or brush my hair on the at home days 😂

I’ve just been wearing jumper dresses to work because they’re nice and stretchy 😊

Amberellaella · 28/02/2024 18:17

Ooh, just realised I have due date buddies now I know I’m probs getting things started early.

Little one has been kicking more this week. I'm starting to get a bit worried when I haven't felt anything for a few hours.

I got quite a few of my maternity clothes second-hand. They are usually still in good shape because people don't wear then for that long. I got a more formal dress for my nan's 90th birthday party at the weekend but have tried on one of my favourites from before and think I will wear that instead.

Nocoffeenotalkie · 28/02/2024 19:55

@wannabe123 I have the same issue although my class are KS1 and don't know yet.
Struggled with DD1 (my DH gave up suggesting names because I'd veto as "I've taught one of those" 😄) According to our 17 wk scan, we're having another girl (will confirm next week) and I'm struggling even more than before!

wannabe123 · 28/02/2024 20:05

@Nocoffeenotalkie our little boy has a name of a few kids I've taught but I worked out I've taught/worked with nearly 1000 kids so can't veto every name I've worked with 😂

Nocoffeenotalkie · 28/02/2024 20:16

Wannabe 😄 I'm just over 20 years in and am still rejecting names I've taught (there are a few I'd consider because they were lovely but DH hasn't mentioned those. Typical!)
Boys names we had a list and were sorted. Much easier (a couple of boys I had taught with those names too)
We find girls harder to name in our house 🤷‍♀️

MrsHousePlant · 28/02/2024 20:54

Hello! I lost this thread for a while after the last one was full, I thought it had been a bit quiet 😂

I’ve had my scan now too, having a little boy 💙

AimeeLou84 · 28/02/2024 20:59

Hi. New here. Is anyone due 17th July? 💞

ceruleansky · 29/02/2024 02:39

@Sophie3003
Ohh 25th July! I thought I had a due date buddy but I'm still last in the list. 🤣
I hope things go smoothly for you and your little one. :)
I agree, I also want to get it done earlier. How exciting! Did you have a shoot for your daughter as well?

@Morningcoffeeaddict
It's nice that your boss is understanding in this scenario. Honestly, I'm not able to spend more than an hour outdoors, I get a bit claustrophobic and overestimated. I keep wondering how people travel during pregnancy and go on a baby moon. I wish I could as well!

*overstimulated not overestimated 🤣

Morningcoffeeaddict · 29/02/2024 06:33

@ceruleansky - I’m so lucky with the company I work for. It’s a small business and they’re great at understanding we’re humans and accommodating our very human requests. I did my pregnancy risk assessment with one of my other directors and it included travel and he just said “oh well you don’t have to do that anymore if you don’t want” - I travel so rarely anyway that they’re happy to send someone else that’s happy to go.

I know what you mean about overstimulating- went for dinner with some of my friends and the second we entered the restaurant I was like “oh this is too loud”.

ceruleansky · 29/02/2024 08:00

@Morningcoffeeaddict
That's great to hear. It takes the emotional burden off when it comes to work.
Yup. I watched a movie, and it was okay, but I just can't do places with too many people, lights and noise.
How are you feeling today?
I barely slept last night and I've taken the day off. I think my cold has reached it's peak already, I'm sneezing violently hoping it doesn't scare or affect baby. :(

AnonymousXXIX · 29/02/2024 08:06

@wannabe123 we struggled with names sooooo much last time... and now we actually already thought of two. I think because we already went through the process of who doesn't like what etc. for months on end before. My partner and I are from different countries so it is super difficult to find something you can pronounce in both languages, and we also both like names that have some sort of story - not an easy combo! Funnily, last time, we never ended up realising the name we ended up choosing is not all that easy to say in English. Lesson learned.😅 But also I am much less concerned now about how others may or may not struggle with it. Learn to pronounce something in a different language, get over it 😂 Every Teams call I am ever on we have to practice saying a bunch of new names, it is just a common thing in the multicultural digital age - and people know how to use Google when in doubt.

@ceruleansky I so wanted to do bump progression shots this time, but never found the time and here we are at 20 weeks lol. I did baby progression photos last time (one every month till baby was 1) and loved that, so maybe I will just do that again to compensate. Just use a self-timer on my camera, or my very unwilling DH haha. Did not do a specific maternity shoot, but I had some cool work trips before baby was born last time that resulted in lovely photos, so fingers crossed for something similar now. For work I am actually going to the same country around the same month in pregnancy by coincidence, so that will be a nice comparison shoot if one of my colleagues is up for assisting me!
