Seems we got to the end of a thread. Not sure if a new one has been set up.

@IsLarryFromSomething Its strange, I’ve been having a lot of cramping too and it’s felt more intense on the right side of my uterus…now I’ve got all this muscle pain on the right side of my butt and leg. Wondering if the 2 or connected or maybe I’ve just been clenching that side of my body without realising it. Have you experienced any cramps?x

mrssunshinexxx · 06/03/2024 06:48

@Eiremogra isit pregnancy yoga you are going to? I'm doing reformer Pilates and really don't want to tell them as I think they'll tell me I have to stop they don't offer any pregnancy classes

@AppleTree16 I've gone down a rabbit hole and like you say, the advice seems to be go to the nearest one as they're all much of the same despite the ratings.

Is there anyway you could do a visit? Or know anyone who has given birth recently? I only have one hospital choice so that’s easy for me 😂, it’s just birth centre or labour ward.

No cramps, just the muscle pain luckily!

I'd appreciate thoughts on a hospital please.

I have my booking in appointment next week at a midwife led unit. I've just seen that the unit and the sister hospital are rating as 'Inadequate'. I live in London so there's a lot of choice, but I'm concerned about distance. The hospitals rating 'outstanding' are over an hour drive / tube away. Am I crazy to self refer to one of them? I guess there's always the option of having antenatal at a different hospital.

Both of the hospitals nearest to me are rated inadequate for maternity services. One is an hour away and one is 30 minutes away. The one that’s an hour away my sister actually used to work in as a midwife and she had to leave as she felt it was so unsafe and she developed severe anxiety over it 😬 I’ve gone for the one that’s 30 minutes away as I don’t drive and will need to get to most of the appointments on my own as my husband will be working. My sister (the midwife) had her 3 children there plus my sister in law had 2 c sections there (i’m going for an elective) so that makes me feel a bit more reassured.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 06/03/2024 09:33

Interestingly my hospital won't see me till 9 weeks despite me explaining the light bleed since Monday AM so I've booked a private scan which around me is £150 🫠.

OneSunnyFox · 06/03/2024 10:01

@Mitsky ahh that’s great! Hopefully I get there! I found out yesterday I have a Urine infection after my booking in, so now on antibiotics. They’ve said it should be fine, but also stressed there are no guarantees. Now deciding whether to wait 3 weeks for NHS or pay for NIPT earlier than 12 weeks.

@LuxeBiscuit i hope you manage to find something close to you! I got quite stressed about picking. At least outside of London there is less choice!

mrssunshinexxx · 06/03/2024 11:07

Had my scan saw the heartbeat with an abdominal scan there's a small haematoma which explains the bleeding x
Dated me at 5+ weeks at too soon to date accurate x

CluelessInLondon · 06/03/2024 11:16

@mrssunshinexxx That's really positive that you got to see the heartbeat and you at least have an explanation now for the bleeding. Did they think the haematoma should clear up by itself? Will you have a follow-up scan in a couple of weeks' time?

Really interesting reading everyone's comments on choosing a hospital. My local hospital is rated 'requires improvement' by CQC but has an overall 'good' rating for maternity services - it also has the benefit of being less than 15 minutes' drive from my house so easy to get there quickly if I need to, and the community midwifery team runs clinics out of my GP practice so it just feels like the easiest option, although I know that I actually have access to lots of choice being in London. It really feels like a minefield, especially when you're doing it for the first time!

JemRose · 06/03/2024 11:18

Hi all, I'm 9 + 4 today and starting to feel cautiously hopeful that this baby is sticking around! I cannot believe how awful the nausea has been with this pregnancy, the worst yet by far. Haven't had an early scan but have my scan date booked for three weeks today... counting down the days! I've worked out my due date should be the 5th of October (although I'm sure this will change after the scan) anyone else similar? Xxx

Oct24 · 06/03/2024 11:20

@mrssunshinexxx Amazing news. So glad you got some answers. I hope the bleeding settles down for you and rest of your pregnancy goes without a hitch. Xx

CluelessInLondon · 06/03/2024 11:24

@JemRose I'm similar to you - 10 weeks today and my EDD is 3rd October based on my last scan at the EGU last week. My dating scan is 2 weeks on Saturday, still feels like a long time to wait!

OneSunnyFox · 06/03/2024 11:31

@mrssunshinexxx so happy your scan showed good results! congratulations!

Willow20233 · 06/03/2024 11:58

Hey. Deleted my profile for a bit as I'd totally convinced myself that something would go wrong and didn't want to jinx. I've since realised I need to try and enjoy my pregancy! Just hard after losing in October 😔

How is everyone doing?
I had a scan the other day at 5-6 weeks and there is 2 sacs but only one has signs of a beating heart + baby. Scanning again at 9 weeks just to be sure! 🙏 would love twins but happy with anything we are blessed with.

Hope everyone is doing and feeling well. I'm still eating like an absolute pig! 🐖

mrssunshinexxx · 06/03/2024 11:58

@CluelessInLondon hey thanks still doesn't feel real?? I think maybe because it wasn't planned. Yes will go away on its own no more scans planned until 12 weeks.
My hospital is required improvement in all areas but I've had the most incredible compassionate care from them both times.

mrssunshinexxx · 06/03/2024 11:59

Thanks @OneSunnyFox @Oct24

@Willow20233 I am also eating like a pig just gobbled a Mac Donald's down

Willow20233 · 06/03/2024 12:02

@mrssunshinexxx roll and sausage with potato scone 😋 it's non stop! 😆 glad your scan went well also xx

cm3212 · 06/03/2024 12:05

@mrssunshinexxx really really good news! So pleased for you, I've had the exact same and also a small hematoma! Bet you feel relieved, I know I did! ❤️

cm3212 · 06/03/2024 12:08

@FlyOnTheWall89 that's surprising, my hospital is from 6 weeks. I find it frustrating that it isn't the same across, sometimes feels a little like postcode lottery with some things!

When is your scan? Hope all goes well for you ❤️

LuxeBiscuit · 06/03/2024 12:12

Good news re the scan @mrssunshinexxx and it must be a relief to know the cause of the bleeding.

@CluelessInLondon it definitely is a minefield. After reading lots of Mumsnet posts it seems the advice is the care you get depends on midwives / doctors on the day so you might as well choose the nearest (unless you've heard horror stories from friends).

mrssunshinexxx · 06/03/2024 12:27

Thanks ladies

FlyOnTheWall89 · 06/03/2024 13:24

@mrssunshinexxx great news! A big sigh of relief for you!

@cm3212 ye very unbothered woman on the end of the phone. She just suggested I can my GP. I'm pretty sure all my GP would do is book bloods and then repeat after 48 hours. I want something more concrete in the way of a visual on the beating heart and location so it's booked for tomorrow morning.

cm3212 · 06/03/2024 13:26

@FlyOnTheWall89 ah yea not very helpful at all! Least you've got booked for tomorrow, everything crossed for you .. I'm sure it'll all be fine xx

Sara1988 · 06/03/2024 17:47

My local maternity services are all inadequate. I'm thinking of going for a home birth so at least I will have two midwifes.

I’m thinking of a home birth as first baby was very quick, but they are regularly suspended here because of lack of midwives.
