Seems we got to the end of a thread. Not sure if a new one has been set up.

I too have had brown drops and a bit of light pink too since yesterday morning. A really small amount but combined with not 'feeling' pregnant I'm keen for a scan asap. But then I did get 3+ on Sunday morning but equally know these cant be relied upon... its all consuming.

Sunandsea13 · 05/03/2024 16:27

Had our scan, measuring 7 weeks + 4 days 🥰 lovely heart beat although W2TW don’t let you hear it until 16 weeks

@YellowHedgehog sorry you're having a worrying time. Like other posters said, hopefully you get clarification on Thursday.

LuxeBiscuit · 05/03/2024 16:58

Great news @Sunandsea13. Do you know the reason behind the 16 week threshold? I had IVF but the clinic let me hear the heartbeat at 7 weeks.

cm3212 · 05/03/2024 17:18

Had a visit to the EPAU today as had some bleeding! Turns out it was due to a small hematoma. All was fine and measuring 7 weeks!

@YellowHedgehog try and get your scan soonr, there can be reasons for bleeding other than loss. It's awful having to wait and not knowing what is going on! Sending love ❤️

cm3212 · 05/03/2024 17:21

@FlyOnTheWall89 .. I was the same, I've had barely any symptoms and had some spotting over last couple of days. Seen by epau today and all was fine, small hematoma and nothing to worry about. Measured 7 weeks and heart was beating! Easier said than done but it's shown me that you literally cannot tell from any symptoms what is happening .. I haven't felt pregnant at all yet. If you're concerned, I'd definitely recommend contacting your local epau or gp xx

spudnik1 · 05/03/2024 17:23

@YellowHedgehog I am so sorry. Hopefully, your scan will show that everything is ok.

I am 10 weeks today. Had to have a kidney scan ( not related to pregnancy) whilst there I cheekily asked if they could have a quick look at baby. They said yes ! All was well, little heart beating away. It's massive compared to 7 weeks !

Something else that's massive is my belly. I have a very pronounced bump. I know it'll be bloating at this stage, but I look about 5 months gone 😫

Only my boss knows at work was going to wait until after the 12 week scan to tell everyone else ( scan is 12 weeks 5 days !) But I am not sure how I am going to hide it that long 🤔

JLT24 · 05/03/2024 17:37

My scan went well today, measuring 7w exactly. We could see a strong heartbeat. I’ve only had very mild symptoms so it didn’t feel real until today. For those of you who’ve had an early scan when are you planning on having the next one? Waiting another 5-6 weeks for the NHS scan seems so far away so I’m thinking I may book one at 10 weeks 🤷‍♀️

FlyOnTheWall89 · 05/03/2024 18:11

@cm3212 arh thanks for writing, that has given me hope. I called the hospital today and no one answered... then I was busy chasing my daughter around so I'll try tomorrow morning and see what they say. Hoping I get someone nice on the phone who will suggest I pop in for a scan. Doesn't feel real at the moment.

cm3212 · 05/03/2024 18:15

@FlyOnTheWall89 I'm the same, only feels real when I have a scan 😂.. had an early private one at 5wk 2 days (I have PCOS so wanted to see how far I was as my cycles are so irregular) .. and then had to have this other due to bleeding and it's the only time I feel pregnant!

I definitely wouldn't over think it and get checked out as soon as you can .. sending love & hope it goes well for you xx

LuxeBiscuit · 05/03/2024 18:53

I'd appreciate thoughts on a hospital please.

I have my booking in appointment next week at a midwife led unit. I've just seen that the unit and the sister hospital are rating as 'Inadequate'. I live in London so there's a lot of choice, but I'm concerned about distance. The hospitals rating 'outstanding' are over an hour drive / tube away. Am I crazy to self refer to one of them? I guess there's always the option of having antenatal at a different hospital.

mrssunshinexxx · 05/03/2024 19:15

@LuxeBiscuit isit your first baby? If so I'd say it would be alright. Only issue I'd think of is it you get there and not in active labour and they send you home you'd probs have to to labour in your car ?! Or book a hotel room near by?!
X

FlyOnTheWall89 · 05/03/2024 19:55

@LuxeBiscuit id probably self refer and just be aware it may affect your birth choices... you may not be able to stay at home for as long etc. Also will be more logistically annoying for appointments as longer to travel...! If you're okay with those things, definitely go with a better hospital. Mine was 'outstanding' and the post natal care was shoddy so I wouldn't want to be somewhere 'inadequate'.... could have been bad luck with the people on that shift though!

LuxeBiscuit · 05/03/2024 20:18

Thanks @mrssunshinexxx and @FlyOnTheWall89. I called the unit and it gets worse! They're no longer doing deliveries due to a lack of midwives but still doing antenatal.

I'm okay with travelling for appointments so I'll try one of the higher rated hospitals.

@mrssunshinexxx the hotel is a good potential option.

OneSunnyFox · 05/03/2024 20:23

@LuxeBiscuit I don’t know if many of your friends have babies, but may be worth asking one of them. I’m also London based and a friend told me their story but also those of their friends and NCT group in London. I picked KCH, despite it requiring improvement as the feedback from her friends were the midwives were great! And tbh the service I’ve received so far has been excellent. I picked this over Lewisham, which was ranked good, but a friends friend did not have a great experience. Some can do your birth but if you are out of catchment, they won’t do your aftercare!

I balanced being a reasonable distance for emergencies/appointments with feedback from friends.

if the care commission is like ofsted, it may not be entirely accurate!

LuxeBiscuit · 05/03/2024 20:48

Thanks @OneSunnyFox my friend had great care at Kings but chose it because it's her nearest hospital. Another friend lived near a 'Good' hospital and was fine there.

I've read the CQC report and it's scary reading - "the service did not have enough staff to care for and keep women safe. Staff did not complete accurate risk assessments...there were not enough newborn resuscitation equipment in labour rooms" Shock

Just wondering how you found this info as would like to look at mine too!

LuxeBiscuit · 05/03/2024 21:16

@Sara1988 you can search for your hospital and CQC rating.

Have you got any closer “good” hospitals? An hour is a long time when you are in labour! Especially if you have to go home again….

Joey2011 · 05/03/2024 22:23

Talking about hospitals. Anybody around Leicester? Can't decide which to go for. I'm thinking general. But got my booking appointments with the midwife led St marys in melton Mowbray. Qmc is really easy to get to aswell but they are having a lot of issues in the news for the maternity unit atm. But maybe fine when October comes.
I've put down lri for scans atm. But plenty of time to change it.

LuxeBiscuit · 05/03/2024 22:36

@AppleTree16 I've gone down a rabbit hole and like you say, the advice seems to be go to the nearest one as they're all much of the same despite the ratings.

If this sticks around I’ll also be a kings birth in October so see you there!

I'm really bloated as well. I feel like I look pregnant but my husband says I don't. But there's definitely bloating that feels different from before.

Is anyone else experiencing a lot of muscle soreness? My breasts are always sore, and then I have alternating back, hip and upper leg pain. I hadn't realised before getting pregnant that this was a symptom so early!

Eiremogra · 06/03/2024 05:55

@IsLarryFromSomething Im the same. My right leg/thigh/groin are all really sore - I feel like I’ve been to the gym! I had to cancel my yoga class last night as I really didn’t know how I’d get off the mat! I feel like my upper leg is seizing up!x

IsLarryFromSomething · 06/03/2024 05:58

@Eiremogra oh no!! You're right, it feels like I've been to the gym. I'm hoping to try a warm bath tonight but I'm worried that I'll get in the hard tub and be more uncomfortable. (That's never been the case before, but I haven't had a bath since before I was pregnant.)
