The bloating is awful. None of my trousers fit and I'm living in baggy clothes lol.

Anyone else exhausted during the day but then wide awake at night? It's like my body clock has decided it wants to live in a new time zone.

OctBaby24 · 15/02/2024 09:48

@thislittlenugget thank you, massive congratulations to you too Smile.

Reassuring to know others can experience nausea so early, not that it makes it any more fun to put up with. If I remember rightly it didn't start until around the 7 week mark with my DS, so this is new and unexpected.

I'm with you on the reversed body clock, I'm normally a fast asleep by 10pm kind of person, but it's like that's when my brain's kicking into gear now!

CluelessInLondon · 15/02/2024 09:52

@Poppypear My husband will be coming to my booking appointment - I know he doesn't really need to as I have enough information on his medical history to cover that bit of the conversation, but he wants to be there to support me (especially while I have my blood taken, I'm really bad with needles so I need a hand-hold for blood tests!). In my previous pregnancy the booking appointment was a really negative experience as well - I was incredibly anxious because I was bleeding and the midwife was really offhand and just behaved as if she wanted to get the paperwork done and get me out of the door, so instead of arranging a scan for me she sent me to A&E to queue for 45 minutes just to book in a scan the next day at EGU. So I'm not really looking forward to having another booking appointment and need all the support I can get!

@Jacky86 @OctBaby24 Congratulations and welcome. 😊

Is anybody else finding that they're a lot more sneezy than usual? I feel almost like my hay fever is kicking in but it's only February! Had no idea before now that pregnancy could cause sneezing...

Oct24 · 15/02/2024 09:53

@OctBaby24 I've had to start taking a nap in the day. I can't physically get through to 1pm without falling asleep. It's not like me at all!

Vik27 · 15/02/2024 09:57

@thislittlenugget thank you yes you’re probably right and it’s eased off a bit this morning. It’s just so hard to try and not worry when I haven’t seen it’s even real yet

aussiegirl89 · 15/02/2024 10:37

I don't know why they call it morning sickness because I'm throwing up every night before bed! Can't seem to digest my dinner properly 🙃

I found a tip online that said to buy ginger juice and mix it with water (like cordial) and sip on that throughout the day

Has anyone tried that?

Oct24 · 15/02/2024 10:43

@aussiegirl89 Welcome to my world! It sucks and it's so depleting.

I add some chopped fresh ginger with a slice of lemon to hot water and sip it. It's the first thing I consume in the morning and it gives me enough respite to be able to eat breakfast.

nervousn3lly · 15/02/2024 12:05

I'm not sure if they are any good as I don't like ginger made me gag before pregnancy but
My Expert Midwife do some ginger melts I assume they are like sweets or sorts may be worth a look into

summerbubs · 15/02/2024 12:46

Hey guys. Hope it's okay to join. Found out yesterday that I'm pregnant after feeling off for the past couple of days- not enjoying my favourite dinner, heartburn and being exhausted even after 11 hours of sleep Blush. I think I'm 4 weeks today! Xx

Sunandsea13 · 15/02/2024 13:39

Anyone had a scan at 5w+4, can you see anything?

4LeafCloverBaby · 15/02/2024 14:08

@Sunandsea13 this was my 6week scan & we could see the heartbeat fluttering away but they say the heartbeat is only visible from 6 weeks. I think all they would be able to tell you at 5+4 is that it’s in the right place if that’s what you’re worried about?

CluelessInLondon · 15/02/2024 14:09

@summerbubs Welcome and congratulations!

@Sunandsea13 It's not likely you'll be able to see a great deal - you might see the gestational sac and yolk sac so they should be able to tell you the pregnancy is growing in the right place, but it's too early for a heartbeat.

Oct24 · 15/02/2024 14:24

@Sunandsea13 I'm going for a scan on Saturday. I'll be 5+5. I can report back with my findings. My dr has warned us that the chances of seeing a heartbeat are low this early. (Husband is travelling for the next two weeks from Monday and I didn't want to go to the first scan alone so we booked earlier than the 6week recommendation.)

ttcchapter2 · 15/02/2024 14:42

@aussiegirl89 that sounds awful, i just feel nauseous alllll the time constantly but never actually sick 😭

Bee49 · 15/02/2024 14:49

@Sunandsea13 I had one at 5+3 with my last pregnancy. They were able to tell me there was something there and it was in the right place but couldn’t tell me much else.

@ttcchapter2 waiting for the nausea to properly hit this time but last time I was nauseous 24hrs a day. It was completely debilitating even though I was never sick. I often thought I’d feel better if I was able to throw up!

ttcchapter2 · 15/02/2024 15:06

@Bee49 thats exactly how I feel, I was the same in my first pregnancy too. Would prefer being sick than the constant nausea 🥺 7 weeks today so the 12 week scan seems forever away!

californiacooper · 15/02/2024 15:09

@Sunandsea13 This was my scan at estimated 5 weeks, gestation sac, yolk sac and fetal pole seen, about 2mm, and no heartbeat at this stage.

Bee49 · 15/02/2024 15:17

@ttcchapter2 would be worth asking your GP for some anti sickness medication. I didn’t really get on with it but it would be worth a go!

thislittlenugget · 15/02/2024 15:44

@CluelessInLondon Oh my god, I actually have been sneezing too! Haha, how funny, it hadn't occurred to me that it was pregnancy related!

I can also tell my immune system has already lowered itself. Over Christmas I was surrounded by poorly family (including Covid) and didn't come down with a thing, but in the last week I've definitely felt quite under the weather and have mouth ulcers etc despite not being around any poorly people!

My symptoms seem to have died down quite a lot over the last few days... has anyone had that? I'm sort of wanting them to kick back in so I can feel like something's happening! (I'm 5+1)

@summerbubs Huge congratulations, and welcome! 🤗

cm3212 · 15/02/2024 16:33

Thanks all for advice about the scan .. think I'll hold off as long as I can bare to wait!

Quick question for those of you that have had Beta HCG.. my GP did mine yesterday. I'm not sure exactly how far along I am (from LMP would be 6 weeks but I have irregular cycles so expect it to be more 4-5 weeks)

I have had false positive urine tests in the past so this was mainly to confirm pregnancy and reassurance that the urine tests aren't wrong this time ... My HCG was 242 .. my GP just called and said it's a bit borderline? So hasn't confirmed the pregnancy and will do it again Monday?

I expected that result to be a clear positive and about right for 4-5 weeks? Now I'm anxious having to wait until Monday 😬😬

Ellenn · 15/02/2024 16:46

@cm3212 thats a great result and definitely positive! Maybe they are holding back as they aren’t sure what stage you are at? Usually it’s not actually the level for beta tests but that they double ideally over 48 hrs.

My beta hcg level was 230 on 14dpo or exactly 4 wks (I know exactly as was an ivf embryo transfer!). You can’t compare levels though as everyone can be very different I think and it’s more how it increases rather than initial value? xx

cm3212 · 15/02/2024 16:49

@Ellenn thank you! That would make sense I guess with it been early. Yes, she said she wants to repeat on Monday as it should have more than doubled by then so 🤞🏻

Was just confused she couldn't confirm the pregnancy which I thought was strange but maybe like you say because we don't know exactly where I am at, they maybe been cautious. My nerves are all over 🙈

Congratulations to you & thank you!
