@HRP1990 Itโ€™s getting so hard! Iโ€™m sitting here going through all my recipe books looking for inspiration and itโ€™s just making me feel so nauseous. Tonight I think I fancy a really really basic mac n cheese and might be able to have some sweetcorn with it, but even then I could sit down to eat it and my stomach flip at the sight of it ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Iโ€™m trying to put together a list of โ€˜safeโ€™ meals as my poor other half keeps asking what he can make for me, and Iโ€™m stumped. The list is looking very poor on the healthy eating front so far - itโ€™s basically jacket potato with tuna or beans & salad, or dry, crispy oven foods with cucumber/tomatoes. The only cooked vegetable I can really stand the thought of eating is a potato. Itโ€™s so unlike me. Praying it passes once we get through the first trimester!

Bakerbean · 29/01/2024 17:58

@Lillers thatโ€™s so interesting! Our bodies are bloody clever things arenโ€™t they!

Thankfully, I am still loving fruit - thank god or my diet really would be falling to pieces. A fresh orange sounds pretty perfect right about now actuallyโ€ฆ!! I am also totally with you with craving bread. To be honest, just carbs in general ๐Ÿ˜“. Last night I really fancied an instant hot chocolate - I made one, drank it within 3 minutes and then desperately wanted another one. Terrible!!

SC126 · 29/01/2024 18:00

@Xur sorry just catching up on posts and saw that midwife wants to come to your house. Where I live we have community midwives and they do our booking in appointments from our house so someone will come round on the day, do family history paperwork etc and take my bloods and urine at home. It's lovely.

SC126 · 29/01/2024 18:11

@Bakerbean im having quite a few aversions too which is something I didn't get in my first pregnancy. Today for lunch I had plain chips ๐Ÿคฃ I couldn't face much else and yesterday I went mcdonalds and just the sight of the nuggets were sending my stomach going. I didn't eat any of it. The coke though was amazing!

rupertbear91 · 29/01/2024 18:15

@Bakerbean I am with you I spend my day scrolling through recipes to try and find something that doesn't make me want to vomit, when I find something I have about a 10 minute window before I change my mind ๐Ÿ˜‚ it's really fun.

Xur · 29/01/2024 18:29

@californiacooper Iโ€™m so sorry ๐Ÿ˜” โค๏ธ
the upside is that atleast you went to the scan and they straight up said they donโ€™t see anything, atleast it didnโ€™t drag further.
@MadsAngel I am 33 at the moment, first pregnancy for me aswell and I am as clueless as you. Combing the internet for information and relaying on this thread for support and information. We are all sailors in the same boat right now. ๐Ÿ˜‚

@Bakerbean my major aversion is smell of cleaning detergents and strong perfume.
Also my partner asked me to cook him some stir fry today (chow mein) when Inwas cooking it I was fine but now when itโ€™s done cooking the memory of the chow mein sauce and fried chicken makes me sick ๐Ÿคข

hol92 · 29/01/2024 18:33

When did everyone's food aversions start? I had them so bad with my first but can't remember when I'm 5wks 3 days at the moment and am making a roast which I completely went off last time for months! I don't know whether to savour it incase I hate it next week ๐Ÿคฃ

Bakerbean · 29/01/2024 18:38

Oh my gosh so many of us are in the same boat!

@hol92 I would say mine started at around 6-6+4 ish weeks?! Iโ€™m 8w today and itโ€™s just gotten worse every day so far ๐Ÿ™ˆ

@Lillers Iโ€™ve just eaten an orange and already want another one ๐Ÿ˜‚

Xur · 29/01/2024 18:41

@hol92 for me every week is different and every week is something new

week 5-I began to dislike blue berries
week 6- I began to dislike mayonnaise
week 7- I began to dislike pickled cucumbers (was eating them on week 6 from the jar at the fridge)
week 8- my appetite has seriously dropped, I ate just one wrap and one toastie today.

๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Lillers · 29/01/2024 18:42

@hol92 For me I was reacting badly to strong smells for a couple of days before my BFP, but the aversion to meat smells only started yesterday (Iโ€™m 5+4).

@Bakerbean So jealous!

Right everyone, wish me luck, heading into the kitchen to make a chicken katsu curry ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Starlight11111 · 29/01/2024 18:44

@californiacooper I am so very sorry. Take care of yourself, I and many others here know the familiar pain. Xxx

@Fawklight I am so happy for you!!!! And to all the other scans I have missed over the last few days - amazing!

Food aversions kicked in for me over the last few days (currently 7+1 based on the adjusted date from my early scan), meat is off the cards unless it's frozen and breaded. Broccoli which is usually my favourite vegetable is out of the window. Managed an egg on toast for dinner and the thought of having that again is a big no no. One thing I'm really liking is fruit smoothies, they're nice and cold and make me feel like I'm getting some nutrients in at least.

1 week today until my booking appt!xx

Fawklight · 29/01/2024 19:02

I've gone off buttered Toast ๐Ÿ˜ญ I used to love buttered toast.

I may need to get some cereal for breakfast.

(or make an excuse to have pancakes ๐Ÿคฃ)

siobhanmt247 · 29/01/2024 19:02

I feel like the aversions are slightly creeping in for me today at 6w4d but for the last few weeks I can be eating some sort of meat and be fine ghenni start to get a weird taste like its rotting. I'm waiting for room service from the hotel and I'm finally starting to crave fresh vegetables which is a welcome change from cheddar cheese sandwiches

Fik88 · 29/01/2024 19:10

@MadsAngel I am 35 this will be my 3rd baby but a lot has changed since my other 2.

I haven't really got many aversions, just cant seem to eat much veg or fruit, eating seems to help my nausea but then if i eat a bit too much i feel sick again

ForeverHopeful67 · 29/01/2024 19:38

@californiacooper I'm so so sorry to hear this - my heart goes out to you.

@MadsAngel I'm 29 ๐Ÿ˜Š this is my second pregnancy with my daughter being 3 soon.

My main "food" ascension was coffee! That's how I first knew I was pregnant as I usually love a coffee ( or 2/3/4) and when I made one the day I found out, I checked the tub because it smelt awful which really put me off!

Cat2022 · 29/01/2024 19:47

Last time my main aversion was peanuts/ peanut butter and to this day I canโ€™t think about it without gagging. I did have HG though so I think thatโ€™s why itโ€™s stuck with me. This time I seem to eat something one day then itโ€™s like in my head I can never eat it again but not one specific thing.

40andhopeful · 29/01/2024 19:50

@MadsAngel I'm 40 and probably one of the eldest on here!
Currently 5+5 and grateful for every day that I'm still pregnant following a miscarriage at 7 weeks 18 month ago ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

Cinai · 29/01/2024 20:05

@40andhopeful Iโ€™m 40 too, youโ€™re not alone. I had a MMC in October, Iโ€™m 6 weeks now and hopeful ๐ŸคžI definitely feel much more sick this time, maybe thatโ€™s a good sign (although annoying).

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 29/01/2024 20:31

Iโ€™m 37 (just, actually conceived on my birthday ๐Ÿ™ˆ). Had my others when I was 31 and 33 but feel much the same as I did then - still got it ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป!

Decaffe · 29/01/2024 21:16

I am so very sorry to hear that @californiacooper. I know itโ€™s probably not what you want to hear right now but I really would take so much hope from the fact that your body did make and accept an embryo. Itโ€™s such bad luck that the embryo was likely not ok chromosome wise (itโ€™s nothing to do with going to the gym), but I really would take hope from that fact that you got this far, when it comes to trying again either naturally or through IVF. Wishing you tons of luck for the future xx

Xur · 29/01/2024 21:38

@Decaffe
how have you been today?

HRP1990 · 29/01/2024 21:39

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow I just turned 33 and also conceived on my birthday ๐Ÿ˜‚

Decaffe · 29/01/2024 22:25

Xur · 29/01/2024 21:38

@Decaffe
how have you been today?

I went for an early scan today at 6w0d, I saw the heartbeat fluttering away on the screen. I couldnโ€™t believe it.

I feel so much better now, like a weight over my shoulders has lifted. I feel so tired tonight like all I want to do is sleep for days, but I havenโ€™t managed to nod off yet.

Thank you so much to all the posters who shared kind words of reassurance over the past few days. I never thought being pregnant would be so stressful. I really appreciate you all. Thank you ๐Ÿ’“

@Decaffe so happy to read this and see your little bean ๐Ÿฅนโค๏ธ
