@californiacooper good luck. thinking of you

@Fawklight lovely scan! so glad all is well.

@rupertbear91 your pic is adorable!

Not much of an update from me, except my sense of smell is going haywire. I was already feeling queasy on the train to work today, then someone decided to crack open nail varnish which made it 10 times worse. And I've had to tell DH to stop wearing the aftershave I got him for Xmas.

Lucky for me, mini eggs seem to be quite good for sorting the nausea out. I will be the size of a house at this rate!

HolyMoly24 · 29/01/2024 14:26

@californiacooper so so sorry to hear this, take care of yourself and I wish you so much luck on your ttc journey going forward โค๏ธโค๏ธ

I replied and said I don't understand and that I'm anxious with it being my first pregnancy. They just told me to call the general hospital early pregnancy line...

That's not helpful,

Do they have a phone number if not email saying you'd like to submit a complaint based on the responses you've been recently receiving citing them as being unhelpful and rude.

Also add that you will not be contacting the early pregnancy unit as your gripe is with trying to get a booking appointment and not being able to understand a single email that's been sent through.

Lillers · 29/01/2024 14:36

@cd24x I had a pack of mini eggs in my bag at work last week for whenever I felt nauseous! They really worked!

All day Iโ€™ve been craving bread but we didnโ€™t have any in the house. I texted my husband who was out at a meeting (he travels all over the region for work) and he replied with: โ€œIโ€™m going to get you the best loaf of bread I can find.โ€ Heโ€™s just arrived home with a lovely loaf from a bakery and it is the best thing Iโ€™ve ever eaten!

HRP1990 · 29/01/2024 14:42

I also agree with the mini eggs! @Lillers thatโ€™s so nice of him, I could totally dunk some good sourdough into some olive oil right now! ๐Ÿคค

I couldnโ€™t stomach anything in the house today so Iโ€™ve just ordered some bachelorโ€™s cheese and broccoli pasta on Deliveroo ๐Ÿ˜‚ what is this baby doing to me

Wanderlust86 · 29/01/2024 14:46

I'm so sorry @californiacooper

MadsAngel · 29/01/2024 14:53

@Fawklight After my last email explaining that their emails are very confusing and unhelpful, I have had a response confirming that the Liaison team will raise a pregnancy for me and request my 12 week scan. It will then be passed to the community midwives (which are the ones emailing me). Once they receive my referral from the Liaison team, they will call me. Every email seems like different info but they have now copied in the Liaison team and asked for my referral so they can call me tomorrow. Fingers crossed for some progress. I just feel so anxious and have no idea what I'm doing! My partner is working away and at present not many people know so I don't have anyone to direct my little worries to other than this thread, so thank you all for your responses.

I tend to stay fairly quiet on here as I, quite frankly, do not have a clue what I'm doing so have 0 advice to give to anyone but I will try to stay more active. Thanks to everyone for their help.

Out of curiosity, can I ask everyone's age? I'm 23 currently and genuinely feel like a teen mum lol - I know it's not that young to have a child but I feel like I'm still 16 at heart!

MadsAngel · 29/01/2024 14:55

I also saw someone mention a facebook group the other day - can someone send me the link for this please?

MadsAngel · 29/01/2024 15:01

@californiacooper I'm so sorry for this news, wishing you all the best on your journey๐Ÿค

Fawklight · 29/01/2024 15:02

@MadsAngel it's ok, you are more than welcome to ask us questions so we can help where we can.

In my first pregnancy I was pretty much clueless, I ended up doing alot of reading and studying. I also had a mumsnet group as well to go to for advise.

I'm 31 second pregnancy. My first was through lockdown which was an experience on it own.

MadsAngel · 29/01/2024 15:08

I seem to get much more sense from you guys than anywhere else so I'm thankful for this group!

A lockdown pregnancy must have been tough! Glad we have more freedom now

Lillers · 29/01/2024 15:24

@MadsAngel Iโ€™m 36, first pregnancy and quite honestly I feel as clueless as you! Even though Iโ€™m older, I still feel like pregnancy is a secret world that Iโ€™ve never been โ€œgrown upโ€ enough to be part of!

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 29/01/2024 15:53

Jealous of the mini eggs and the bread!!! I put on loads of weight in the first trimester with my last pregnancy due to the nausea - eating was the only thing that helped. Reallllly want to avoid that this time round so have been sticking to my low carb diet so far. Morning sickness hasnโ€™t really kicked in yet but last time it hit at 6-7 weeks (Iโ€™m 6 weeks tomorrow) so Iโ€™m dreading it.

I havenโ€™t booked in at the hospital yet - will wait until Iโ€™ve had my (private) scan next week at 7+3.

MudandMoet · 29/01/2024 16:13

@nervouslyawaiting welcome! Feel free to join in anytime. We talk about everything on here so just shout up if you want to. The support on this thread is amazing โค๏ธ

@MadsAngel it's so disappointing and disheartening when you get shit staff. You kind of think is this what's to come after your amazing exciting news. You'd think by week 7 they'll be in touch with an appointment ready in place for week 8-9 ish ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

Funnily enough at my scan last week at my local EPU I said to the woman I saw after, I might sound a bit thick here but what happens next, I have no idea when I see the MW again (I'd had booking in appt at 6 weeks) she said to leave it until after my 12 week scan and then contact MW again. I said, it's strange how you are suddenly growing this little human inside you but no one seems to know what to do or where to go and when, like there's no clear or set system in place. She agreed and said a lot say that! It's shit really.

@californiacooper I'm so sorry, sending you big hugs and lots of best wishes for your TTC journey. Take care xxx

Sydney1988 · 29/01/2024 16:35

@californiacooper Iโ€™m so so sorry to hear your update today. Thinking of you. Take care xx

MrsB2019x · 29/01/2024 16:48

@californiacooper Iโ€™m so, so sorry. Wishing you all the best for your future TTC journey ๐Ÿงก

Caroline2023 · 29/01/2024 16:51

So sorry @californiacooper . Look after yourself and hope you have the time you need to process everything xx

cd24x · 29/01/2024 16:54

I'm so sorry @californiacooper

@MadsAngel I'm 34 (i think!), and this is baby 2. I feel even more clueless this time round even though DS is almost 3, so it wasn't that long ago. I was so prepared with him, and now I'm failing to even remember what I did in the beginning with how often to feed etc. I think I've blanked it all out along with the lack of sleep!

@Lillers bread sounds amazing. With loads of proper butter ๐Ÿคค can you send your DH my way?!

Bakerbean · 29/01/2024 17:05

@MadsAngel Iโ€™m 31, will be 32 before baby arrives, but I feel mentally 10 years younger ๐Ÿ˜…! Iโ€™m the youngest of 3 & neither of my older siblings are parents yet so it does feel funny being the first!

Bakerbean · 29/01/2024 17:22

Can we please talk food aversions! For the last 7-10 days, Iโ€™ve been strugglingggg with food. I am not a fussy eater in the slightest, but there are so many foods/meals that make me want to gag just at the thought of them at the moment, particularly vegetables. I genuinely keep getting flashbacks to the stir fried courgette, pepper & onion I was served at a family meal this weekend.

I am desperate to try and eat as healthily as I can, and ideally work on improving my overall health and fitness throughout this pregnancy, but itโ€™s proving impossible to eat a balanced diet at the moment and itโ€™s making me feel quite negative about myself and my image.

What foods are other people struggling with? What are your current go-to โ€˜safeโ€™ foods? I need dinner inspo please!

siobhanmt247 · 29/01/2024 17:23

@Decaffe how are you doing today? Did bbt go back up?

HRP1990 · 29/01/2024 17:41

omg @Bakerbean I could have written this myself! My partner cooked a stir fry last night too ๐Ÿ˜ท obviously it was packed full of veg. Iโ€™m also going off meat too.. just the thought of it sitting there makes me feel so ill.

Pasta has been pretty safe so far ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป I made my own pesto to make it a little healthier. she says eating a fab ice lolly for afters

Lillers · 29/01/2024 17:44

@Bakerbean My only major food aversion so far has been to the smell of cooking meat. Other than that Iโ€™ve been quite lucky.

Cravings are mostly for bread and sweets (literally cannot leave the house without a bag of wine gums in my pocket). Iโ€™m also really wanting fresh oranges.

What Iโ€™m finding really weird are all these things are similar to when Iโ€™m doing long runs - Iโ€™ve run a couple of marathons in the last few years and sweets & bread were my go-to for fuelling, while oranges were the only things I could stomach during the actual race. I wonder if thereโ€™s some kind of correlation?
