@californiacooper do you work full time and are you self employed? It's a pig isn't it when you're already worrying about what's to come and what will work best. I just keep thinking, well others do it so it must all be doable. My DH won't have any days off which I suppose if he's not gonna be very hands on anyway it doesn't actually matter ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ @Xur thanks for that, it's good to know that others like @californiacooper and yourself understand. We'll all sort it I'm sure.

Wise words @HRP1990 i think you're right - it'll all fall into place when baby is here and I sod off out so he has no choice - joking ...kind of not joking ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Congrats @Lillers ! Welcome ๐Ÿฅฐ

@RachSmile @SC126 @Kate543 lovely news on your scans today! ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

@Cinai @siobhanmt247 hope the nausea passes for you both. Mine totally disappeared when I hit 9 weeks ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ for you xx

Kate543 · 28/01/2024 15:18

@mudandmoet
just catching up and reading about your worries- you are not alone ๐Ÿ˜‚ my other half looked me dead in the eye after our scan and starting a small panic worrying about double buggy logistics ๐Ÿ˜‚having a baby disrupts your life in a major way but it all clicks into place and then itโ€™s like you canโ€™t remember not having them? I also canโ€™t stop worrying about silly things like what if my daughter hates the baby and is upset about me dividing my time but I am sure it will work out just fine :)

HRP1990 · 28/01/2024 15:21

@Kate543 omg, weโ€™re going to be double buggy-ing here, too ๐Ÿฅน I wish I had thought ahead and bought an interchangeable from the beginning. Like a Bugaboo Donkey or something! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Kate543 · 28/01/2024 15:23

@HRP1990 i use the bus a lot so I am hoping to get one so I can still do that. But seeing my husband go all wide eyed like how are we going to fit 2 car seats a double buggy and a Labrador in the car ๐Ÿ˜‚ made me laugh

siobhanmt247 · 28/01/2024 15:24

@MudandMoet thank you. I was worried about having no nausea so I guess it serves me right. You are not alone in your worries. I felt the same about my partner in the early days. I've always know him to be a Batchelor and he's always been quite selfish but he has been amazing dad. Not going to lie he doesn't really get it when it come to all the other stuff thats need doing like housework and shopping but he has taken on a lot more of the baby stuff than I thought he would

rupertbear91 · 28/01/2024 15:27

Congrats on the good scans today everyone.

I'm 6 weeks today and the nausea has gone to new levels. Been out training with the dogs an hour away and trying to keep the sick down was a serious challenge ๐Ÿ˜ซ I'm going to be spending the rest of the day on the sofa

californiacooper · 28/01/2024 15:33

@MudandMoet self employed (own a business with my business partner (a man), 4 staff, 2 other self employed contractors) and if I'm not there, 50% reduction in ยฃ. Just not an option. A month is about all I can realistically take off. I actually put off TTC for years because I was so concerned it wouldn't be possible.

Cinai · 28/01/2024 15:34

Aww me too, @rupertbear91 After feeling nauseous for most of the day, I just was sick for the first time. ๐Ÿ™ Also 6 weeks today. I hate to think that this is only the start.

SC126 · 28/01/2024 15:48

@Kate543 car logistics is defo worrying. We found out my brother in law is booking his wedding for October in Cornwall which is a 6-7hr drive from us and we have a dog plus packing everything else in a car. Where will they all fit?

Kate543 · 28/01/2024 15:59

@SC126 Iโ€™m sure it will all work out fine ๐Ÿ˜…
my sister is getting married next feb in New Zealand ๐Ÿ˜ฌbut Iโ€™m going to worry about that later ๐Ÿ˜‚

Cat2022 · 28/01/2024 16:12

@Kate543 i think we are going to get the out n about double as it fits through a single doorway and good for dog walks. We have 2 labradors and will have two car seats so Iโ€™m going to need to check it will fit in the boot with them. Seems to be a really rubbish market for double prams that arenโ€™t either super heavy or inconvenient.

MudandMoet · 28/01/2024 16:28

@Kate543 again thank you, so reassuring it's not just me with worries about what's to come. I'm sure she'll be the best big sister ever!

@siobhanmt247 we can't win, want it when we've not got it and then we get it, can't wait for it to bugger off ๐Ÿ˜† ahh pleased your partner stepped up, that gives me a little bit of hope! ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

@californiacooper yikes I get it. The SE (especially business owners) of us are screwed when it comes to maternity leave. It seems so unfair that at the one time you need the extra help you can't access any. Would your DH be okay taking more paternal leave? That's great - if he can and will! I have rentals for extra income too but I really enjoy that job and I really just don't want to give it up - even if it means I have month end and VAT to do potentially 2 -3 days after baby is here! My DH needs a stern talking to I think.

@SC126 @Kate543
you know the gypsy van option is always there ๐Ÿ˜…

my surgery is not very smart, when I found out I was pregnant I called them and told Iโ€™m pregnant and to withdraw me from the Que to hysteroscopy. She said letโ€™s wait how it goes (the pregnancy) and asked me to self refer for a midwife appointment. So my midwife appointment is tomorrow, Iโ€™ve come home today morning to find two letters from the NHS with like a โ€œconfirmation for a telephone appointment with the gynaecology unitโ€ and thereโ€™s no news about about a scan ๐Ÿ˜‚ I guess I was right to book in another private scan for myself as the NHS scan isnโ€™t coming any time soon and instead theyโ€™re trying to send me to hysteroscopy.

ForeverHopeful67 · 28/01/2024 16:55

Congratulations on your scans @Kate543 @SC126 ๐Ÿฅฐ you must be over the moon!

Feeling so bloated and uncomfortable today ๐Ÿ˜ฉ anyone also suffering from headaches?

Decaffe · 28/01/2024 17:03

I will be exactly 6 weeks tomorrow and I have booked a private scan for after work.

I realised that I havenโ€™t had any line progression in the last few days (attached photo from 22dpo to 27dpo), and my temperature has dropped this past week - even going below the baseline yesterday (although it did rise again today).

My hypothesis is that I stopped progressing last Monday at 5 weeks exactly. That would also explain why I didnโ€™t get my 3+ on a digital at 5w2d, even though my HCG bloods at 4w4d should have meant I should have easily passed the 3+ threshold by then.

I do have a NHS scan booked the week after next but I simply canโ€™t wait any longer. I am not sure what can be expected to see at 6w0d but I simply need to know what is going on. If itโ€™s a blighted ovum or similar I just canโ€™t cope with the uncertainty any longer.

HolyMoly24 · 28/01/2024 17:12

I can definitely join you in the anxiety on how it's all going to actually work out when baby arrives ladies.

We only have a two bedroom house and our DD is in the other bedroom so they'll either have to share a room for a while (but DD will already be 5/6) or we'll have to move when new arrival is still a little baby. Just sounds like a nightmare.

HRP1990 · 28/01/2024 17:20

@Decaffe I have read of some women never getting a 3+ and still going on to be pregnant and have babies! I donโ€™t think all is lost just yet!

Also, youโ€™re tests are super dark, is it not that the test line is already as dark as the control line?

@HolyMoly24 Iโ€™ll join you in the house worries! Weโ€™re renovating at the moment ๐Ÿซ  with my daughter we finished her room and ours the day before I went into labour lol. Hoping we can get ahead of schedule this time round!

Fik88 · 28/01/2024 18:15

Congratulations on the lovely scans. We have a worry of how everything is going to work out too, we live in a 3 bed house and have a boy 8 and a girl 11 already so one of them is going to have to share with the baby, don't think they will be best pleased. We are also possibly all going to have to swap rooms so the 2 sharing have the biggest room. Trying not to think too much into it yet ๐Ÿ˜‚

Xur · 28/01/2024 18:15

@Decaffe If I am being completely honest I do not know how can those lines get any darker and why should they because there is HCG tresho of above which is wonโ€™t register.
I do not know much about the body the body temperature but if I may ask are those two the only reasons why you think itโ€™s stopped growing?

MrsB2019x · 28/01/2024 18:20

Congratulations everyone who had scans today! ๐Ÿงก

Best of luck for yours tomorrow @Decaffe I can see progression in your tests for sure. Mine looked very similar to yours when I was around your gestation, I stopped testing at 6 weeks and never had a โ€˜dye stealerโ€™ but there was a healthy baby at the scan. Good luck ๐Ÿ’

Decaffe · 28/01/2024 18:24

Evening @Xur ๐Ÿ˜Š So from everything Iโ€™ve seen on here, eventually the right hand control line should get paler as the test line gets darker - a so-called dye stealer. But it isnโ€™t happening in this case. Then yes added to that is the temperature - which tracks and predicts my period/ovulation perfectly. So if itโ€™s dropping I donโ€™t think itโ€™s a good sign. I havenโ€™t got the 3+ even though the HCG blood test says it should have done by now. Then itโ€™s the fact that I donโ€™t have any nausea by this point. Apparently that is linked to a blighted ovum. And the last reason is more of a feeling I guess - after years of bad news in relation to my fertility itโ€™s simply all Iโ€™ve come to expect. Sadly. I just donโ€™t feel pregnant. My boobs are sore but I am on progesterone suppositories. Oh well we will find out tomorrow!

FuppinNora · 28/01/2024 18:50

Oh hells bells I've just found out I'm pregnant today! After 15 years!!! I'm going through all the emotions right now - fear, excitement and back to ohhhh f*!!!
I had basically giving up last month after nearly 10 years of trying and was going to say to DH about starting contraception but I've been sick the last few weeks - I thought it was viral! Little did I know that I was already pregnant. I just can't believe it, I've only done a pregnancy test at home so need to get to GP but need to tell someone. I'm about 6/7 weeks

Congrats to you all

Xur · 28/01/2024 19:01

@Decaffe Iโ€™m not sure if I believe the temperature thing in pregnancy, because we all know that outside of pregnancy our hormonal cycle consists of 4 stages of hormone cocktail in our system that operates our cycle. That is then driving how the whole body works, because the hormone combinations have side effects in the whole body and around these people speak of cycle symptoms. As far as I am aware once we get pregnant that cocktail of hormones completely resets and the cycle no longer happens and thereโ€™s a new mixture of hormones that are working to support pregnancy and then again they (the mix of hormones) again affects the whole body and the body is coping with it based on mainly how the body works. (How well the liver, spleen, thyroid is working. )
Ive even heard that some ladies with a stronger immune system struggle to get pregnant and to maintain pregnancy because of complex evolutionary stuff in our body. So with that being said-one of my best friends who had 3 abortions, 2 miscarriages is now 39 weeks pregnant and she had no symptoms whatsoever, she found out sheโ€™s pregnant at 11 weeks. She had series of periods several months in a row and the only reason they found out sheโ€™s pregnant was because she had a random bleed between periods, she went for a scan to look for a cyst inside and they found a baby! Literally anything can happen. I also seen a dream yesterday where I said in my dream I donโ€™t feel the heartbeat of the baby but I have to be realistic, Iโ€™ve been obsessing this. So it would be surprising if I wouldnโ€™t be getting nightmares about the pregnancy. Please I beg you keep a positive outlook. โค๏ธ pregnant until proven other wise!

Lillers · 28/01/2024 19:05

Had a great big wave of nausea hit while I was cooking mince this evening - god it smelled horrendous ๐Ÿ˜‚.

On the flip side, I normally donโ€™t like the smell of Dove shower products (which my MIL always buys me loads of for Christmas) but just used some in the shower this evening and thought it smelled absolutely lovely, so I suppose thereโ€™s a win!
