@cd24x I have my first scan booked for Friday too. I will be 8+2 so hopefully if all is well then we should see a heartbeat ๐Ÿคž
I'm a mixed bag of emotions about it. I originally thought I would just wait until my nhs scan but decided I would rather know early if something is wrong. I feel different this time compared to the last pregnancy which resulted in an mmc so I'm trying to stay optimistic.
Good luck for your scan! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi everyone, lovely reading everyoneโ€™s updates. Is anyone else struggling with a horrible taste in their mouth? On the days where I feel nauseous itโ€™s constant, no matter what I eat or drink, as soon as Iโ€™ve finished eating/drinking it - the yucky taste is still there!

VT6 · 23/01/2024 10:47

@Bakerbean is it almost a metallic taste?

Decaffe · 23/01/2024 10:51

Oh thatโ€™s wonderful @siobhanmt247 itโ€™s such a relief isnโ€™t it. Iโ€™m very pleased for you! And for us ๐Ÿ˜„ I think in future Iโ€™ll try to think that a one day blip could just be a blipโ€ฆ. Well, Iโ€™ll try!

Best of luck to those having their early scans this week. My NHS one is two weeks on Thursday but Iโ€™m pondering doing a private one next week when Iโ€™ll be 6+. The only thing stopping me is I know from reading threads on here that sometimes there is apparently not much to see in this sixth week and it can lead to misplaced anxiety. And we all know Iโ€™m not very good with anxiety ๐Ÿ˜…

Bakerbean · 23/01/2024 11:10

@VT6 no itโ€™s not, itโ€™s weird. I had read online that a metallic taste can be a symptom but I canโ€™t really describe it, other than โ€˜yuckyโ€™! And itโ€™s only on the days where Iโ€™m struggling with nausea.

SC126 · 23/01/2024 11:11

I paid for a private scan for Sunday when I'll be just past 7 weeks. Epau have offered me an early reassurance scan but they couldn't see me until mid Feb when I'll be over 9 weeks and I felt I couldn't wait that long.

Cat2022 · 23/01/2024 11:20

@Wanderlust86 Iโ€™m still debating a private scan. I want to wait until around 8 weeks but equally thatโ€™s only 4 weeks before NHS so Iโ€™m thinking should I just wait I donโ€™t know.

@Bakerbean i have this too I just feel gross most of the day atm And keep eating little random things to get rid of the taste but then it just comes back. Going to try and find polomints today as they helped last time with my nausea.

HRP1990 · 23/01/2024 11:36

Goodluck for all the scans this week!

I booked a private scan at the start of Feb when Iโ€™m 8 weeks, I did this with my first and it was amazing. So kind of want to go with the same timings so theyโ€™re like for like ๐Ÿฅฐ also I think the longer you can hold out, the more youโ€™ll see?

Hats of to anyone that can wait 12 weeks!

Fawklight · 23/01/2024 12:18

Hi guys I wanted to give you an update as I haven't been around.

I had a bleed like the begining of a period, it stopped after a day but EPU won't See me or scan me. Midwives tell me to wait and doctors keep saying it's probably a miscarriage.

The advise I've been given is take a test in a weeks time. Which I was told by a midwife not to do as my hormones would still be high but I could still have miscarried.

I was also told buy the EPU to buy a private scan as EPU won't give me one. Even after the doctor tried to refer me.

To which the same doctor told me not to as I could still be miscarrying but still see a heartbeat. So I'm at a dead end with no way out.

All I've been given is some antibiotics just incase is a pee infection.

MudandMoet · 23/01/2024 12:28

@cd24x ahh pleased they got you through the day. Congrats on the 3+ ! It's always a good feeling seeing that. I stopped testing after mine.

I have a second scan on Thursday afternoon (I'll be 8+4) I'm feeling a bit anxious about it today tbh, I've lost the nausea (been for a full English with my mum) came back and scoffed tunnocks and another brew. I just don't have any symptoms at all today and feel like I did pre Christmas. Also I've lost before between 8-9 weeks so to get past this week will be a big milestone for me ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

Xur · 23/01/2024 12:31

@Fawklight
Im so sorry you have to go thought this. I donโ€™t think this is normal treatment of a person. โค๏ธ
to be honest the more I hear the more disgusted I get with the medical care we have here.
I will be crossing my fingers for the little heart to still be beating. I know itโ€™s a long shot to advise anyone to try not to worry, itโ€™s impossible to not worry in this. I just hope this distress doesnโ€™t drag on for too long โค๏ธ
Take care

MudandMoet · 23/01/2024 12:33

@Fawklight sorry you're going through this. It's shite that they won't scan you. Has no one offered to take your bloods? Each time I've MC they've taken them to check hcg levels going down and confirmed MC that way.

I dont want to get your hopes up unnecessarily but the fact that you only bled for one day is a good sign. No bleeding since? Any other symptoms? I had bad shoulder pain and lower back pain too each time, have you had this? Xx

siobhanmt247 · 23/01/2024 12:35

@Fawklight could you get in touch with your gp and ask for a 48 hour blood test? I'm sorry you're going through that x

Fawklight · 23/01/2024 12:43

@MudandMoet @siobhanmt247 no offer of bloods from the doctor. My doctors surgery dont support anything pregnancy related. They refer to midwives or EPU. EPU just said I'm not bleeding enough and I've already had a scan to see if it's eptopic.

Ive had shoulder tip pain and back pain from the beginning, but I had a private scan because I just wanted to see if the pregnancy was ok and the baby is in the right place.

emmatcc1 · 23/01/2024 12:48

I have a scan tomorrow at 8+2 weeks. What is expected to see? Is there already an outline of a baby or not.

Bakerbean · 23/01/2024 13:41

@Cat2022 weโ€™ve got our NHS booking in appointment on 2nd Feb and had already booked a private scan for 3rd Feb before that appointment came through. We debated cancelling the private scan, but weโ€™ve decided to keep it & I canโ€™t wait to (all things crossed) see our little bean. Weโ€™re desperate to tell our parents but want to wait for the pregnancy to be confirmed as on track & healthy before doing so, so the scan will (hopefully) give us the green light to tell our closest family & friends. We will be 8w+5 on scan day. Iโ€™m literally counting down the days!

Iโ€™m doing exactly the same in constantly snacking on things, and Iโ€™ve bought sherbet lemons, butter mints & poloโ€™s and just swap between them throughout the day!

MudandMoet · 23/01/2024 14:05

@Fawklight I can't imagine how frustrated you are right now. It's crazy how you just have to carry on with life as per while not having a clue if you're even pregnant or not! Very unfair.

@emmatcc1 yes you'll definitely see a little form of baby at 8+2 It'll be the size of a kidney bean but will slightly resemble a tiny baby at that stage. I'll be 8+4 for mine on Thursday and I can't wait to compare my 6+4 one (if all is okay) xx

HolyMoly24 · 23/01/2024 14:10

@emmatcc1

I had a scan at 8+2w with my first and this is what the scan looked like. Basically like a little kidney bean but it was lovely seeing the little heart beat on the screen.

longingtobe23 · 23/01/2024 14:10

@cd24x I have a scan Friday too!
who else!? I hope youโ€™re all feeling okay itโ€™s a long old wait.
I know I might have dates wrong it was first month TTC in 2 years I didnโ€™t track ovulation as I was more relaxed due to ivf appointment which was meant to be tomorrow! Madness! But I imagine Iโ€™m 5+6 or 5+4 fingers crossed they just see a sac in the right place

anyway I am just ruling out ectopic this week and I have another nhs scan week later ๐Ÿคช scan addictโ€ฆ.

but one hurdle at a time for me as still in shock Iโ€™m even here, I have some CB coming today and also hope for my 3+ today โ€ฆ boobs are In agony ๐Ÿฅต

Fawklight · 23/01/2024 14:11

@MudandMoet i still have sickness (But that could be the antibiotics)

My boobs are still very sensitive and very dark.

My actual scan isn't until the 21st Feb.

I'm going to buy more pregnancy tests I think and just test. I can't think what else to do other than booking a private scan when I'm 10 weeks.

HRP1990 · 23/01/2024 14:12

@Fawklight youโ€™ve been treated so poorly! Iโ€™m thinking of you, I hope youโ€™re taking good care of yourself in this time โค๏ธ

HRP1990 · 23/01/2024 14:13

With all the scan talk, has anyone thought about how theyโ€™re going to tell others!? My 12 week scan is a few days before Motherโ€™s Day, so I think weโ€™re going to wait until then, to tell parents ๐Ÿฅฐ perhaps pop a picture of the scan inside a Motherโ€™s Day card!

HolyMoly24 · 23/01/2024 14:17

I want to get my DD a big sister tshirt or jumper to wear and see how long it takes family to pick up on it

Mother's Day is a lovely idea

longingtobe23 · 23/01/2024 14:21

I have told my twin and mother โ€ฆ due to a complex fertility journey it felt right! They knew my fertile windows anyway by that stage ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

And I would want them to know immediately should anything go wrong! Also my sister is due in Feb and I want us to enjoy being โ€œpregnantโ€ at the same time something we wished for for years but never managed to achieve so although Iโ€™ll be 8 weeks and sheโ€™s 38 weeks itโ€™s a nice feeling.

with the wider world I donโ€™t really care who knows and doesnโ€™t so no grand plans here but I cannot wait to tell my son who has been asking since 5 when he can have a brother or sister I think we will all be sobbing โœจ

MudandMoet · 23/01/2024 14:27

@Fawklight again... I don't want to get your hopes up but you do sound pregnant still. I lost the sore boobs and sickness almost straight away each time ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

@HRP1990 I hadn't thought about that at all but now you've said and I've just had a quick look, I'll be exactly 15 weeks which is around when we would be thinking of telling people so Mothers Day is perfect! I buy my aunt, nan and step mum (who I call mum) so that works great. *off to Pinterest for ideas!
