@FirstTimeMum1608 I also wanted to second the suggestion to go for the earlier group. I have an August child and it was nice to have relationships with other parents/children who were transitioning to preschool and then school at the same time. I also had the experience with my antenatal group where I was due to be the earliest anyway, and then I went at 37 weeks and the next one didn't come until 5 weeks later, which felt massive for the baby stage. I was past labour and on to colic by then 😂

Isitisit · 21/01/2024 10:57

@bobbles Yes I did. Having researched it seems the false positive rate is high for any conditions that aren’t Edwards, Downs and Patau so it didn’t seem worth focusing on places that claim accuracy for others and charge loads.

I ended up going with Concepto diagnostics as they were the cheapest and tests are just as accurate for singletons.

FluffyKitty007 · 21/01/2024 12:55

@SunSparkle i was also off for two weeks with a nasty cold/flu. Symptoms started right after my covid and flu jabs I got after my booking appt. I hope to work tomorrow but I’m a little anxious how I’ll find it after two weeks in bed.

my GP has been so hands off and couldn’t care less

Blueberry1990 · 21/01/2024 17:32

Has anyone being suffering from upper abdominal pain? I've been going to the toilet as usual but have a feeling it's just bloating as my stomach feels tender also

Moyes1 · 21/01/2024 18:54

Hi all
We have been trying for 3 years and had one round of IVF, we only had one embryo. Currently pregnant and due 29th Aug! Excited and scared!
can’t cope with the vivid dreams and constipation at the moment 😂
sore boobs and fatigue otherwise no other symptoms, no sickness thankfully! Can that still come?
We had a 7 week scan and it was amandine seeing the little heart beat, been told implanted really deep and well! So hard not to get excited

DisneyLady1 · 21/01/2024 20:00

Got my 12 week scan tomorrow (12 + 4 ) - it's the first scan this pregnancy, so feeling pretty nervous!

Excited to hopefully see the little one, and get a proper due date! I had recently stopped BF DD1 when I became pregnant so my cycles were all over the place . Could be a week on either side of 12, so fingers crossed.

Alim0 · 22/01/2024 12:47

@Moyes1 the vivid dreams really get me too!

Last night I had one, woke up for a wee, had a different vivid dream, woke up for another wee then had another different vivid dream! I was exhausted by the time I had to get up! 😂

Blueberry1990 · 22/01/2024 12:57

Had my 12 week scan today and after heavy bleeding last week I was extremely nervous but everything looks perfect. Low risk of chromosome abnormalities and everything is forming as it should be so far 🥰

Moyes1 · 22/01/2024 13:56

@Alim0 lol this is me every night! Wee so much in the night I end up with about 4 ridiculous vivid dreams every night! Preparing us for our sleepless night 😂

MissKittyBrewster · 22/01/2024 17:12

Does anyone else feel generally quite unwell? My tummy feels what can only be described as 'weird' and I'm so tired and feel rundown. I'm having heart flutters, feel really sick but starving and I have headaches... the list goes on!! When is this supposed 'glowing' time of pregnancy!?

Winnie14 · 22/01/2024 18:15

Congratulations everyone!

Hope it’s OK to join! I’m 11ish weeks (11w4 by LMP, but dated 5 days behind on my last scan). My dating scan is next Tuesday and this week is really gonna drag!

@Blueberry1990 I‘ve recently experienced something similar to your tender abdomen. I’ve developed these pinching, twingey pains in my tailbone, hips and abdomen. It just feels like that whole area is extra sensitive and sore. Today it was so bad I really struggled at work. I work with young children and there’s a lot of bending and crouching involved. Midwife said I could self refer to EPU but in my area it’s impossible to schedule appointments in advance and you just have to wait for them to call, which is tricky with work. It’s great that all was fine on your scan, I’m really hoping that mine will be the same and it’s just stretching pains but it’s hard not to worry.

anyone else had anything similar?

Fawklight · 23/01/2024 12:20

Hi guys I wanted to give you an update as I haven't been around.

I had a bleed like the begining of a period, it stopped after a day but EPU won't See me or scan me. Midwives tell me to wait and doctors keep saying it's probably a miscarriage.

The advise I've been given is take a test in a weeks time. Which I was told by a midwife not to do as my hormones would still be high but I could still have miscarried.

I was also told buy the EPU to buy a private scan as EPU won't give me one. Even after the doctor tried to refer me.

To which the same doctor told me not to as I could still be miscarrying but still see a heartbeat. So I'm at a dead end with no way out.

All I've been given is some antibiotics just incase is a pee infection.

CaribouCarafe · 23/01/2024 12:27

@Fawklight I'm so sorry to hear that, such a horribly stressful situation to be in. Did the EPU let you know why they won't see you? My midwife assured me that any level of bleeding should be seen to by the EPU so I'm so surprised you're being fobbed off like this.

Hoping for a positive outcome for you, my mum bled through her pregnancy with me and I came out healthy

They told me the bleed isn't bad enough to be seen by them.

CaribouCarafe · 23/01/2024 12:47

@Fawklight how many days do you need to wait until it's been a week following your bleed? Not easy to do, but I'd take it as promising that it wasn't classed as a bit bleed, but I'd also be extremely anxious in your position and probably be obsessively pissing on a stick so am a hypocrite!

CaribouCarafe · 23/01/2024 12:47

*big bleed, not bit bleed

Fawklight · 23/01/2024 12:51

@CaribouCarafe Thursday would be a week. I have one left

graceinc22 · 23/01/2024 12:52

@Fawklight i'm so sorry. how horrible and awfully stressful. x

pontipinemum · 23/01/2024 14:32

@Fawklight that is terrible! I can't believe they won't scan you. Personally I would go for a private scan. How many weeks are you? Is it long until your 12 week scan?

A pregnancy test will come up positive. After my 1st MC I think it took 8 weeks to get a negative test.

SnookyPook · 23/01/2024 14:38

@Fawklight I'm so sorry they are treating you so poorly. I agree with others, EPU should definitely be offering a scan after a bleed - particularly if a doctor requested it?! Also agree that unfortunately a pregnancy test is unlikely to be helpful. It took 3 weeks after my pregnancy had fully miscarried to get a negative after my MMC. As others say, a bleed, particularly if not a big one, might be absolutely fine, but appreciate that is no comfort at all when you're waiting around in limbo. Really hope that you get an answer soon. Is it worth calling your EPU again and hoping you get a more understanding midwife pick up?! I'm shocked that any epu would be so callous tbh!

Fawklight · 23/01/2024 14:47

@pontipinemum @SnookyPook
My actual scan isnt until the 21st of Feb.

I phoned my midwife again and she was horrified, but said it could be because I'm on the cusp of two NHS districts. Wiltshire bath and Great western Swindon.

She's encouraged me to go for a private scan if the doctor couldn't even get the EPU to budge on giving me a scan.

pontipinemum · 23/01/2024 15:28

@Fawklight but even if you are on the border of 2 districts you are going with one and they should be treating you the same as if you live next door to the hospital. How many weeks are you? If you can afford it I think you should go for a private scan

Fawklight · 23/01/2024 15:31

@pontipinemum I should be 9 weeks now.

I feel like both places are just like. Not our problem and pushing me aside.

I'll go for a private scan.

pontipinemum · 23/01/2024 15:33

@Fawklight that is awful and so unfair. I would ask you midwife why. I have had a decent bit of experience with EPU and once I had a referral letter from my GP they just went along with it. I never once had to justify why I was there. Hopefully all goes well at the private scan and you can put this behind you

graceinc22 · 23/01/2024 15:38

@Fawklight in my last pregnancy when I had bleeding I was scanned the same day by EPU even though it was less extensive than yours. I really don't understand their approach. I hope you'll get some clarity and good news at the private scan x
