@Jo87mummy2be sorry to hear that. Have you contacted EPAU? They will hopefully offer you a scan so you can get some answers asap. Spotting isn't necessarily bad - and brown suggests not fresh so might be some hope. Keeping everything crossed for you. 💕

Jo87mummy2be · 12/01/2024 11:29

Going this afternoon ty.

EmG12 · 12/01/2024 15:32

@Jo87mummy2be I have also had some brown spotting the last few days. It's been light and hasn't gotten any worse so I'm hoping nothing to worry about. My mum (who used to be a midwife) said it can be normal as the placenta starts to grow and embed.
Good luck at the EPAU this afternoon, let us know how you get on?

bobbles4091 · 12/01/2024 19:06

@Jo87mummy2be hope your scan went well today? I also had a scan today, I'm measuring 7+6 which is just a day behind my own calculations, and baby had a strong heartbeat which was a huge relief. Don't know how I managed a full bladder as I've had hideous nausea for the last week or so. I don't feel ready to tell people yet but really struggling to parent (I have two little girls) and work 😭
Has anyone found anything that helps with the nausea? I've just bought some travel sickness bands in desperation!

SnookyPook · 12/01/2024 20:47

@bobbles4091 great news about your scan! Sorry no tips on the nausea - hope it eases for you soon!

@Jo87mummy2be how did you get on? Was thinking of you 💗

Mc36 · 12/01/2024 22:54

I spotted brown for 5 days and scan shows everything okay thankfully. They told me it may be due to the umbilical cord forming.

hickorydickory20 · 13/01/2024 13:03

@SunSparkle I know that feeling. I wish I was an ultrasound tech to be able to constantly scan. Even if you did it every day though, eventually between those hours you would still worry. They’re still so tiny at the moment, measurements can be less than a cm off and that’ll change the dates by 2 weeks! keep your hopes up.

Alim0 · 14/01/2024 10:24

I've booked in for my first early scan this afternoon. I'm 8+5, haven't really had many symptoms throughout but it's never really bothered me. Woke up this morning and just felt off, like something wasn't right. Couldn't explain why as I feel absolutely fine but I can't shake the feeling that somethings changed so just booked myself in for peace of mind.

bobbles4091 · 14/01/2024 16:45

Hope everything went well @Alim0

Also hoping everyone else is getting on okay 🥰

Alim0 · 14/01/2024 18:03

Thanks @SnookyPook and @bobbles4091@bobbles4091.

Long wait but all came out OK. Little bean is measuring 8+4 and we saw a heatbeat so we're very happy 😊

Still feeling odd but at least I know everything is fine.

CatLadyH · 14/01/2024 18:22

@Alim0 glad to hear your scan went well! I had one at around 8 weeks and I’m just over. 11 now. Having a private scan next Monday at 12wk2 as I’m still feeling super anxious and my NHS 12 week scan isn’t until 13+5 😩

how is everyone getting on? Hope you’ve had a nice weekend.

SnookyPook · 14/01/2024 18:25

@Alim0 ah that's great! So happy to hear 🥰 I have another scan coming up this week and starting to feel a bit nervous. Heartbeat seen at 8wks. I should be 10 at next scan. Just really hoping all is still progressing ok. Have also had the date through for my 12wk scan (2nd Feb!) so it's feeling more real now.

Hope everyone is doing well. X

RiverBear · 15/01/2024 22:56

Hello everyone! Only just finding this 2nd thread 😊 latest here is that my symptoms have improved loads in the last week and a half. Boobs are a bit tender and nipples feel like they're going to explode sometimes, especially when standing up after lying down?! Also I'm ravenous 🐷

I've had 2 scans so far, one on 27th Dec and one on 10th Jan. First scan I was measuring 7+4 and second was measuring 9+3 which is accurate to when I think I ovulated but if we're going by LMP (1st Nov) then I should have been 8 weeks at my first scan and 10 weeks at my second scan. 12 week NHS scan is on 25th January, which is the Welsh Valentine's Day so I'm so hoping that everything is looking good then too, it would be a lovely gift 🥰

MissKittyBrewster · 16/01/2024 12:03

Hi all, I hope you don’t mind me joining you. I’m due on 16th August and I’ve previously had an ectopic and a miscarriage, as well as being 42, overweight, High blood pressure etc etc so I’m very worried. I’ve had to tell a few people due to being in risky situations at work and in my hobbies and everyone is very excited for me but both my partner and I are so nervous about losing it that we just can’t feel the same. I’m convinced that when I go for my 12 week scan, there’ll be nothing there. Is anyone else in the same situation?

CaribouCarafe · 16/01/2024 12:13

Hi @MissKittyBrewster - I had a previous early miscarriage and despite an early reassurance scan at 8+5, still a bit nervous about my 12 week scan next week. I think it's quite normal!

Still beating myself over a cup of chamomile tea I had a few days ago despite still experiencing nausea and fatigue.

I've found this miscarriage likelihood calculator really assuring throughout my pregnancy - just hit 2% today which feels wonderful!

I'm sure your pregnancy is going fine if you've had no other contraindications, but the worrying really is hard in the first trimester. Especially if you've had previous losses and problems with fertility (it took me 3.5 years to get pregnant the first time so feeling pressure for this second one to go well!)

MissKittyBrewster · 16/01/2024 12:24

Thank you for this. This has been 23 years in the making so it's been a journey!!

We have everything crossed but waiting for the scan seems to be taking forever.

I think this group will be a real comfort!

Harveybelle · 16/01/2024 12:29

@MissKittyBrewster This is my 2nd pregnancy. My son is now 6 and a half, so it feels like the first time again. Which it is for my partner! I'm due the 12th August and first scan is on the 1st Feb. I've been okay about it, but over the weekend been having the same thoughts as you. Will anything be there.. etc... I think it's just the knowing the scan is getting closer!!

SnookyPook · 16/01/2024 12:59

@MissKittyBrewster welcome and sorry to hear of your previous losses. If you read back on the thread you'll see there are a few of us in a similar position. I recently turned 38 and had three losses last year so am also feeling very precarious about this pregnancy. Due to my history I've had a couple of early scans and so far, so good... Next one is tomorrow when I should be 10wks so I'm a bit nervous again for that at the moment. This pregnancy has already gone further than all 3 last year though so really hoping it's my rainbow baby! I think I will have a similar due date - my original EDD was 6th August but both scans have been consistently a week behind my lmp prediction (I'm pretty sure I ovulated late after what was actually a MC bleed and not AF). All being well tomorrow my 12wk scan is booked for 2nd Feb and then I really hope I will be able to relax into alit a little bit more...!!

EmG12 · 16/01/2024 15:54

I went for a private scan yesterday as this is my first pregnancy and waiting til 12 weeks feels too long. I hadn't expected to feel so anxious but sounds like everyone does and that the 12 week marker is when people start to relax and can get more excited!
The scan actually showed two gestational sacs - one measuring at the right age (8 weeks) and heartbeat present. The other was measuring at only 6 weeks and no heartbeat detectable so very likely it's stopped developing but their policy is to rescan in another two weeks to confirm. So mixed feelings but relieved to have seen one viable (at least for now) and will be good to get another check-in before my 12 week NHS scan. I'm sure as the days pass I'll be back to feeling anxious again, but nice to have some reassurance for now.

SnookyPook · 16/01/2024 17:56

@EmG12 ah I can imagine that has thrown some complex emotions in, knowing that there may have been a little twinny that didn't make it. It is poignant, and weird to think if you'd just gone straight to your 12wk scan you might never have known. At least this way you can acknowledge them I guess 💕 Lovely news that there is one healthy looking Babba growing though and that you get to check in on them again before the 12wk scan.

Anxiousfirstpregnancy · 17/01/2024 17:09

hey
im 12 weeks on Friday and my first scan is next Tuesday and I literally don’t feel pregnant. Does anyone else feel like this?
all my symptoms have disappeared and have done since about week 9!

SnookyPook · 17/01/2024 18:23

@Anxiousfirstpregnancy I think some people's symptoms calm down a lot when the placenta takes over which would be around then. I've not had many this time round and have just today had a 10wk scan showing a very wriggly baby! But I've had mild symptoms from the start this time round. It's very normal for anxiety to ramp up in the run up to the scan - exciting it's so close though! X

Anxiousfirstpregnancy · 17/01/2024 18:41

@SnookyPook ahh okay fingers crossed I did get a private scan at 7 weeks as I bled a bit at 5 weeks and when I called the hospital they said they wouldn’t scan me at 5 weeks as it was too early. As much as I am glad I had the scan I had a bleed on the ultrasound and it’s made me so worried from that moment. I can’t wait for Tuesday to be here now. If I could afford to I would have had a private scan every week for reassurance. That’s nice your baby was wiggly!! At 7 weeks mine only had stumps as arms and legs and could see its brain!!

SnookyPook · 17/01/2024 19:32

@Anxiousfirstpregnancy it's incredible how much they grow in these first weeks! Due to my history I've had scans at 6, 8 and 10 weeks and gone from a blob, to a blob with little stumps, to a clear head, body and limbs moving around! Just incredible.

Did they talk you through the bleed at all on the ultrasound? Loads of women get random bleeding and even little cysts and haematomas etc which can happen around the pregnancy without affecting Babba. Hopefully all is absolutely fine! Not too much longer to wait now. It feels like an eternity doesn't it?! I waited the full 12wks with my son and it dragged so much!!
