ooh @CharTT33 that sounds stressful. Good that you know now and can get the extra testing. Have they explained the CVS to you? I've not had one but my mum had an amniocentesis and said it was uncomfoortable but manageable. when will they do your CVS?

@90frankie I had everything you described bleeding wise right down to the early scan reports (heartbeat wtc) and went on to have a ridiculously smooth pregnancy and now have a boisterous 15 month old who was born with a 10/10 on his Apgar scores, has sailed through every milestone, and is about as healthy and happy a baby as you could get!

Weirdly i'm actually a bit worried now second time round at 6 weeks that I'm NOT getting any bleeding yet like last time. Stupid brain gonna get you either way right? 😅

It's obviously still such early days but bleeding was absolutely no indicator of issues for me and it cleared up a few days later. I posted on here about it somewhere and got lots of similar stories. So I hope that helps a bit

90Frankie · 06/01/2024 15:13

@bloodynewusernameagain thank you for sharing your experience, that has helped to hear a positive experience with a similar story. I'm really hoping for a calm ride now before the 17th and that dates will match up as I will be a bit further along then 🤞

These first 12 weeks seem like such a horrible time for overthinking everything hey?! Touch wood I haven't had any bleeding since Wednesday just a few pains.

EmG12 · 07/01/2024 17:31

Hi all,

First time pregnancy and I'm 7 weeks. Symptoms haven't been too bad so far - some low level nausea, mild cramping / twinges, some bleeding after sex. The worst is bloating/digestion which I wasn't expecting and tiredness.

My booking appt is around 10 weeks and my scan is at 12 weeks which feels like a long time to wait and I'm googling every little thing but trying to keep positive! Really finding it interesting reading about all your experiences so thank you for sharing

CharTT33 · 07/01/2024 20:37

@SunSparkle THE MOST STRESSFUL THING EVER… I have no idea when they will be doing mine.. I haven’t even got that far with it all yet… I am just so scared and worried more about the results being bad news than anything tbh.. I am back to work tomorrow and this is just another extra worry really! 😞😞😞😞

SnookyPook · 07/01/2024 21:45

@CharTT33 so sorry you have this new worry to bear 😔 hopefully you will get someone who can clearly explain it all you you and what risks it would involve etc. Both being carriers definitely doesn't mean that Babba will have it. And from what I know of sickle cell it's very much something that people can live with and that is likely to see rapid and innovative medical advances during our lifetimes. So try not to catastrophise (far easier said than done I know but... It will be ok 💕)

CharTT33 · 08/01/2024 11:12

Thank you so much! I’ve been literally bombarded with appointments now….

I hope and pray my baby is a rainbow baby and it’s all healthy and well. 1 in 4 chance 75% the baby will be healthy! 😍

sigh…

thanks for ya message though @SnookyPook

fr4zzledmum · 08/01/2024 11:58

@EmG12

Welcome to the group :) Google is useful of course (especially in the early days before you have that midwife contact), but honestly - don't rely on it. You'll either end it at worse case scenarios or horror stories.

hickorydickory20 · 08/01/2024 17:47

Has anyone had metoclopramide for morning sickness? Told my Dr that cyclizine was doing absolutely nothing and so he’s prescribed me this.
Read some mixed things on it.

Keen to try it out though, the nausea and working full time, while parenting a toddler is rough!

SunSparkle · 08/01/2024 19:25

@hickorydickory20 ive had it. But they don’t like to prescribe it for everyday. It works by speeding up the emptying of my stomach so I take it in days where I can feel my food is just sat there. They can prescribe domperidone to do the same thing. Have you tried anything else like Xonvea, prochlorperazine or promethazine? Normally they would try one of those first. And if you’re vomiting (not just nausea), then ondansetron is normally the next to try. I’ve tried them all so ask me anything! And the charity pregnancy sickness support have an amazing pdf fact sheet and WhatsApp support where someone gets back to you immediately tk answer questions

Hi all

I'll be 7 weeks on Wednesday. 2nd pregnancy I have a 3 year old.

I.am generally fine during the day but I'm so violently ill every night. I was the same in my last pregnancy.

Does anyone else experience this?

Thanks ❤️

Hi Duffy,

No, you poor thing. Are you waking up to be sick? I'm 9 weeks now and still just generally feeling nauseous all the time but never actually sick. I bought the sickness wrist bands, they seem to be working.

hickorydickory20 · 09/01/2024 20:30

@SunSparkle Thats so interesting thank you, I did some googling and I had thought it odd that he went straight from Cyclizine to this, I took a tablet today and while it’s worked for the nausea, there are some odd side effects. I think i’ll keep it as an every now and again thing but getting through to the doctors to get an appointment is so difficult. My nausea seems to peak and trough so hopefully I can cope.

Its hard to know how much I would actually vomit as it’s water/other liquids that make me physically sick, and subconsciously I cannot bring myself to drink anything, I hadn’t had a drink of anything in about 48 hours during this last peak.

SunSparkle · 10/01/2024 07:05

Feeling a bit sad and full of bad feeling. Went for another reassurance scan yesterday to see if I’d made it past the 9 week point of my missed miscarriage. I was supposed to be measuring 10+1 and was measuring 9+4 and foetal heart rate of 155 which seems a bit lower end of normal.

I don’t want to keep going back for scans and my next one is my NhS one at 12 weeks but I’m absolutely terrified of being told no heartbeat like I was last time. I hoped this scan would give me the reassurance that everything was ok but I’m just worrying now.

OP posts:
SnookyPook · 10/01/2024 09:04

@SunSparkle so sorry that your scan has left you feeling anxious. Sorry I can't remember, is this the first one you've had? They do say the measurements are so hard at this stage. Keeping everything crossed for you that little one is fine. Did they say anything to you about it? It's so horrible that previous loss robs us of all the joy. Sending a big hug. 💗

CaribouCarafe · 10/01/2024 12:03

@SunSparkle was it an intrauterine exam or abdominal? If the latter, then there's a chance it was less accurate, plus it's just mm of difference at this stage - if it's just 4 days discrepancy then it could just be a measurement issue.

Regarding heart rate I saw this online - it seems 155 would possibly be close to on track for 10 weeks:
"It is well documented in the literature that, in healthy fetuses, the heart rate (HR) increases from 110 bpm at the 5th week of gestation to 170 bpm at the 9th week of gestation. From then on, there is a gradual reduction in the HR that reaches a mean value of 150 bpm at the 13th week of gestation."

Please try not to worry too much

Fetal cardiac function during the first trimester of pregnancy

Chromosomally normal first trimester fetuses with an increased nuchal translucency measurement have an elevated risk of congenital heart defect (CHD). so there is an increased demand for imaging the fetal heart during the first and early second trimest...

SunSparkle · 10/01/2024 13:54

@CaribouCarafe it was abdominal, and I probably hadn't drunk enough water prior because I was feeling so sick.

@SnookyPook I had one on 21st December - measured slightly behind. They asked me to come back on the 31st as they saw some patches of bleeding. Had caught up at that one and was measuring bang on time. Then the one yesterday as I wanted to have one in my 10th week as I lost my last pregnancy at 9 weeks but didn't know. 12 week scan on 22nd Jan which feels ages away but I know isn't.

OP posts:
pontipinemum · 10/01/2024 14:26

@SunSparkle that isn't measuring much behind is it? 4 days? I think I'm counting correctly. The last EPU scan I had the sonographer said they can be very accurate but won't properly date until the 12 week scan. You are talking about a few mm to change the days.

I don't know about the heart beat but google seems think it's fine "Week 8 to 12: The heart rate speeds up and averages 140 to 170 BPM by week 9.3 By week 12, the rate slows down a bit." https://www.verywellhealth.com/normal-fetal-heart-rate-5216868#:~:text=A%20normal%20heart%20rate%20for,110%20to%20160%20BPM%20thereafter.

It's so so hard not to worry though.

sunbear8 · 11/01/2024 09:58

Hi everyone, hope it's ok to join 😊 I'm 8+5, first pregnancy. I've had horrendous nausea and vomiting (just started taking xonvea) which I'm finding hard to hide around people I'm not ready to tell yet. I'm meant to meet a friend at a cafe tomorrow but I know the smells will be so triggering that I need to make up an excuse and probably cancel. Anyone in a similar spot?

CaribouCarafe · 11/01/2024 11:30

@sunbear8 my nausea and fatigue was bad enough around week 6 that I just ended up telling everyone, I couldn't handle pretending I wasn't pregnant on top of everything else.

Perhaps you could suggest a takeaway coffee and an amble around a park instead, or just cancel if you're not ready to share yet.

sunbear8 · 11/01/2024 13:17

@CaribouCarafe we've told some people but others it's been pretty easy up till now to hide it because I've not seen them since the nausea has gotten bad. I'll have a think on whether to share the news because it is tiring trying to hide it and I'd really like to see her! A takeaway coffee is a good idea too as an alternative, thank you.

EmG12 · 11/01/2024 16:39

My symptoms weren't too bad to begin with but seem to have eased this week. I've caved and have booked a private scan for next week. I'll be 8.5 weeks and it's just too long to wait until 12 weeks. I'm completely paranoid about a missed miscarriage - I know something might still happen between scans but it'll give me a bit of reassurance for now, I just don't feel like I've got a baby inside of me yet!

Jo87mummy2be · 11/01/2024 21:49

How are you doing now? I’m worried as have no nausea or anything and think I’m nearly 10 weeks :/

SnookyPook · 11/01/2024 22:21

@Jo87mummy2be I'm coming up to 10wks too with minimal symptoms which has been particularly unnerving due to repeated losses last year. However, because of those repeated losses, I was invited to EPAU for early scans and have seen Bubba growing and with a strong heartbeat at 6wks and 8wks. If I wasn't so anxious I'd be having a dream first trimester! My only symptoms have been slightly tender/achey boobs, gassiness, and appetite increase. When pregnant with my son I had bad nausea but never threw up and I also had extreme fatigue - literally falling asleep during the working day because I couldn't stay awake at my desk... I've not had either of those this time. It really is true that every pregnancy is different and every woman is different. Far easier said than done I know but try not to worry. 💕

Sadly I have started spotting brown stuff so I think I may be out :(
