Thanks for sharing that @0MammaBear0 that's really kind ❤️

It's a horrible position to be in, mainly because of the not knowing and the waiting. But also because of our situation (please no judgement), we're just not prepared to take any risks. I'm hoping the 'experts' can give us all the facts over the next few weeks so we can feel fully informed to make any decisions we have to.

CRbear · 30/01/2024 10:49

Glad to see lots of positive scan news, and for those of you who it raised questions for, hoping for speedy and satisfying answers. Even a 1/5 chance of something, is 80% chance of nothing!

Counting down to ours this afternoon now. We’ve planned a special date night for after so it’s nice to have something to look forward to beyond the scan and keep it relative.

Isitisit · 30/01/2024 10:59

Hi @bobbles4091

Sorry to hear you are in a similar situation and wishing you all the best for your NIPT results.

We have an appt tomorrow with fetal medicine and they will be scanning babies heart as raised FT can point to heart issues. We have written a list of questions we want answers to in order to decide whether to go for invasive tests or not.

I think I will most likely end up having an amnio to know for sure but I’m quite scared of it tbh because a colleague of mine was one of the unlucky few who had a miscarriage after it and there turned out to be nothing wrong with the baby. I know statistically the chances are small but it’s hard to believe that when you have seen it personally affect someone you know. Like you though we do want to know for sure.

It just leaves you feeling a bit in limbo doesn’t it? Everyone is talking about the necessity of starting to view nurseries etc at this point but I don’t want to do that until I feel more reassured that I will actually have a baby at the end of this.

Best of luck to you and anyone else going through similar xxx

Hi! just found this thread! :)
My DD is 10th august, honestly, I have not been feeling pregnant at all... so weird. But then we had our scan yesterday and it was so exciting. Everything was ok and baby moving so much! I did the early screening blood tests and I'm nervous about results. I'm unsure about the NIPT test as well and I wanted from you guys: is it worth doing the NIPT, if I have done the screening tests at 12 weeks?

CRbear · 30/01/2024 18:47

One, wriggly- perfect- baby seen today! I can’t describe how happy we are and what a lovely experience it was. They moved my dates to make me 14 weeks which is physically impossible but I am assuming it doesn’t really matter? 1 week out to what I think it is by ovulation.

we don’t get our screening results until my 16 week appointment but my NT was normal so that’s a good start!

CaribouCarafe · 30/01/2024 20:08

Lovely news @VC1989 and @CRbear!

@CRbear I think the only issue might be if they push for you to be induced based on your scan date rather than what you know is the earliest actual possible date, might be worth keeping it in mind when your delivery date arrives. One of my friends was pressurised to induce and ended up needing a host of medical intervention even though she was sure the NHS had got her measurements wrong at the dating scan, but didn't ultimately hold her ground.

CRbear · 31/01/2024 16:03

Thanks @CaribouCarafe ! That’s a great point, we can factor this into any decision making later down the line. We’re being deliberately vague about when the baby is due with friends and family, as don’t want endless questions nearer the time, so this sort of helps for that. I have just been saying “around 12-13 weeks” due in august. The scan made me 14 weeks, when I’m sure I am closer to 13.

I booked our NCT classes today! They don’t feel that far away. Anyone else planning to do them?

CaribouCarafe · 31/01/2024 16:16

I booked my NCT classes after the 12 week scan - funny that you say they don't feel that far away as they feel so far away for me (late June)!

Folded and bought a pregnancy pillow (as I'm waking up with achey hips) and some maternity leggings (mostly to accommodate bloat) even though it feels a bit early for that kind of thing. Couldn't tell if I'm being ridiculous or not but definitely reaping some benefits from them already!

CRbear · 31/01/2024 19:50

Hahah ours are end of June too- but tomorrow is February!

I also bought my first maternity “thing” today - a swimsuit - definitely more for the bloat but I figured why not be comfortable. I swim with a club twice a week so will get good use out of it!

@Isitisit is there a way I can private message you? And is it okay for me to do so? I'm new to MN so can't figure it out.
I just thought with us both having had raised NT and waiting on test results it might be quite nice to have each other to share it with❤️

Click on the 3 dots top right by the person's name. A lost comes up and the second one down should be PM. Think that should work! Hope you're doing ok. 💕

Isitisit · 01/02/2024 16:42

Hi @bobbles4091

Of course you can xx

CharTT33 · 01/02/2024 19:27

@SunSparkle @SnookyPook my baby is healthy, no down syndrome and no genetic condition. I am over the moon and I just can’t digest it all, but I know I’m happy! It’s a massive weight off my chest. I really hope I can enjoy this Pregnancy from now. How is everything going with you guys, I’ve not been in tune with this thread because of the stresses I’ve been going through? I’m hoping everything is going well for everybody in this group.

Oh this is wonderful! What great news for you! Can only imagine how stressful the last few days have been 💕

I'm doing ok thanks. Had a bit of a scare earlier in the week with a bit more spotting that sent me into a tailspin but my EPU were once again fantastic and insisted on a scan on Tuesday, even though my official 12wk one is tomorrow as they didn't want me getting too anxious about it and having to go into the clinic feeling worried 💕 So I saw little bean on Tuesday and all was looking good. So actually quite looking forward to tomorrow now and getting the official measurements etc. Slightly nervous given that a few on this thread have had scares with NT measurements etc but hopefully all will be ok.

@bobbles4091 @Isitisit how long do you have to wait until you know more? Hopefully you will get reassurance like Char has. Xx

CharTT33 · 01/02/2024 21:41

@SnookyPook my thoughts are with you, I honestly I’m here for the handhold through anything because this whole experience has been super precarious for me, and I’ve had some amazing handholds on mumsnet so I’m willing to do the same. as for the spotting, it could just be your placenta in bedding into your womb because that’s what I was told. At least you got to see a heartbeat and your tiny baby bouncing around. Thinking of you for your 12 week scan. I’m sure it’s gonna be absolutely fine.

@bobbles4091 @Isitisit ladies, I know exactly what you’re going through with the wait, I hope this time goes as quick as it can and you get the results that you both want… all clear ❤️💐💐

SunSparkle · 02/02/2024 07:05

@CharTT33 so so pleased to hear your news and that that anxious wait is over. Here’s to a second trimester where you can begin to relax and enjoy this pregnancy. You must be over the moon.

@SnookyPook sorry to hear about the scare earlier this week but glad everything looked good and best of luck for today with your 12 week scan! Let us know how it goes

@EMJL @SnookyPook good luck with your scans! ❤️
@CharTT33 thats wonderful news so so happy for you.

Isitisit · 02/02/2024 10:17

Hey everyone, we had our follow up with the Dr who said that whilst baby has raised NT, combining this with our low risk NIPT the risk is small so she would say that invasive tests are unnecessary at this stage. They will scan babies heart at 16 weeks as an extra check.

We are feeling relieved, obviously we can’t know for sure without invasive tests but doesn’t seem like we should be particularly worried at this stage.

graceinc22 · 02/02/2024 10:47

@SnookyPook good luck with today ❤️
