Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

I know three women who had their second or third babies unexpectedly at home so it is certainly preying on my mind!

Suchardchoccy · 25/05/2024 21:35

@Wheeeeee @oop typical! Maybe it's the start of something tho?
Haha a nice fast labour would be nice, but maybe not that fast

Elmlee · 25/05/2024 22:16

Very productive day here.
Our eldest has had her big girl single bed delivered. Her room looks so fantastic.
We have managed to get the cot in the to nursery, spot of painting.
I have finished little madams hospital bag and very minimal to put in mine now
On final countdown until going in.
Well needed tip run tomorrow, pram to assemble.
Just so nervous! 😬

Goldie1234 · 26/05/2024 08:06

Oo @Elmlee that's clever, never thought of separate bags for me and that baby 😆
We've dropped the kids to my parent's for a couple of days to get everything ready (ikea trip and buying new car seats included - despite buying a new car, we still couldn't fit 3 seats in the back 😵‍💫)
I'm 36 + something and finished work on Friday yahoo !
At my last growth scan the baby had surprisingly grown !! After dropping down to 3rd centile they measured him on the 10th 🤷🏽‍♀️ hoping to still be induced at 38 weeks, if not this week.
I'm on raspberry leaf tea, evening primrose oil and have clary sage ready ! Last time I started using it too early and was getting really bad false contractions
Need to buy some dates !
Good luck everyone for sections and inductions this week ! And for everyone who might get a little surprise bundle 🍀🍀🍀 so exciting !!

Suchardchoccy · 26/05/2024 12:08

@Elmlee yes I'm in the same position with hospital bags! Although hopefully won't need them 🤞🏻

@Goldie1234 good news!! Someone else with the Clary sage yay!

MsNeis · 27/05/2024 14:08

Hi everyone! Final countdown! Well, I have my c-section scheduled for Thursday (yes, in 3 days), so just stopping by to wish you all good luck and thank you for all the support and camaraderie I've enjoyed in this thread 🤗
Definitely feeling emotional ❤Soon I'll have my little flower baby with me, on the other side of my skin: I can't believe it!
Thinking about all of you and wishing you the best! 💐🍀

Good luck lovely.
I'm going for my induction Thursday. I'm going in at 1:45!
Also got a growth scan Wednesday.. so they said I can have a sweep then... so we shall see what happens 😬🤞🤞

oop · 27/05/2024 17:58

Ooh Thursday is an exciting day then! It's my due date too although not expecting her to be on time 😂 good luck @MsNeis and.@Elmlee !
I've been offered a sweep on Wednesday, not sure whether to accept, but tempted to give it a go. Just worried about it being painful!

I'm going to have one I think... as long as I'm favourable and they are happy to. Fingers crossed I will be though... would be a touched worried if I'm not a day before induction 😬

LavenderJoy · 27/05/2024 18:15

I’m joining the club, my c section is also booked for Thursday! Feeling excited and very nervous, I don’t know what to expect being a first time mom. Does anyone have a panic they don’t know what to do haha ?
I’ve been thinking all weekend he is on his way with shooting pains and tightenings then it disappears after an hour or so.
im hoping ill be out the next day 🤞

Goldie1234 · 27/05/2024 18:31

Aahhhh exciting times !! Good luck everyone with inductions and sections over the next few days !!!

Goldie1234 · 27/05/2024 18:32

@Suchardchoccy have you started on the clary sage ? How many weeks are you ? I'm 37 this week and might just start going for it 😅

CamdenQueen · 27/05/2024 18:53

Good luck everyone! I can’t believe we’ve reached d-day. I’m not due till the end of the month so all going to plan, I’ll be one of the last to have baby. I’m currently 35+3 and my job for this week is finally packing the hospital bag. For some reason I find the thought of it totally overwhelming and I keep putting it off. Any tips from seasoned mums!?

May5th · 27/05/2024 19:12

Good luck everyone with the c-sections and inductions this week!! I’m 37+1 and I have my induction on Sunday so less than a week to go. I’ve not finished work yet, finishing only on Friday but since I work from home I thought I’d continue until the end. I’ve had quite a lot of back pain and starting to feel pressure now so hopefully baby is moving lower. Hospital bags packed, one for me and another for baby!

Wheeeeee · 27/05/2024 19:14

Gosh, can't believe we might have so many babies by the end of the week! I'm 36+3 and currently no reason not to go to term so I'm not expecting DS2 to arrive for a few weeks yet...though you never know!

@CamdenQueen I'm not sure I'm seasoned but here's my packing list for me:
Couple of button front nighties
Nursing bras
Breast pads
Lansinoh
Giant knickers
Maternity pads
Flip flops
Leggings
Vest tops
Big t shirt
Thin dressing gown
Snacks
Juice boxes
Toiletries
Phone charger
Plastic bags

And for baby:
Vests
Sleepsuits
Hat
Blanket
Nappies
Nappy sacks
Cotton wool
Muslins

For any first time mums on the thread, the one thing that no-one had ever mentioned to me before I had my first and that came as a complete shock was the sweating. Maybe it doesn't happen to everyone but for a good week after I gave birth I had unbelievable whole body sweats - I was soaking through whatever I wore and leaving a full body imprint on the bed 😳

You have a lot of excess fluid to get rid of after birth and apparently this is one way the body does it! So I needed a lot more changes of clothes than I had anticipated for the first few days.

PurpleIsTheColour · 27/05/2024 20:24

My c-section is this Friday and it all seems so unreal still, can’t believe I will meet my little boy in 4 days time! It’s such a strange feeling knowing that you will have a baby by a certain day, compared to my first one when I was 12 days overdue and had no idea when she will decide to be born.

Good luck to all of us and regardless of the type of birth you end up with in the end remember that all the pain is so worth it! 🤗🤗

Suchardchoccy · 27/05/2024 21:54

Good luck to everyone having inductions and sections this week! 😍

@Goldie1234 no not yet I'm only 36+2. My midwife told me to do the clary sage at home after a sweep at 39 weeks but to not tell anyone 🤫😅 and then they would do the aromatherapy at 40 weeks with another sweep, if the first doesn't work. I am tempted to use it from 37 weeks tho, I have read it's potent stuff!!
I'm also going to start expressing colostrum from 37 weeks because I am very very certain that put me into labour with my first, i took it a bit easier with my second haha

Oh I forgot about the sweats!!! Thank you for the reminder... All those hormones raging about don't help either!

Good luck to everyone meeting their babies this week!!!!

Hi all. Good luck with the sections and inductions! I'm also one of the last with edd in the end of June. Just for the sake of anyone finding this post months or years later I will decribe my placenta previa journey.

  • full coverage at 20 weeks scan
  • less than 1mm away from the os at 32 weeks scan. The hospital really pushed for a section. I asked for a 36 weeks scan.
  • completely resolved at 36 weeks which was today! hurray

They measured the baby at 99 percentile though and estimated the weight at 3.5kg... now I'm having a repeat GTT in a few days and possibly a chat with a consultant (I'm in midwife-led care now). My GTT at 24 weeks was fine. I'm dreaming of just hearing 'everything is fine' and relaxing instead of all the checks. I know the measurements can be quite off at this stage... doesn't stop them from extra checks haha

Suchardchoccy · 27/05/2024 22:44

@Wheeeeee oh true the sweats!

oop · 28/05/2024 05:38

Good luck everyone! Can't wait to start hearing about all the babies!

@Ad12345678 aw that's fantastic news you must be so relieved!

So I've had braxton hicks overnight, not sure if they woke me up or it was just a coincidence! I didn't see the time as I just rolled over and went back to sleep, but I've had another one since I woke too... DH has had to go away for work today so really hoping it's not the start of labour!!!

cosylife · 28/05/2024 12:39

Our little one was born on Saturday, perfectly healthy and following some skin to skin, we’ve been having a great experience breastfeeding.

Was sent home after my section the next day and we’re now in our delightful newborn baby bubble. Wishing you all the best for your births and introducing your babies to the world!

CBM40 · 28/05/2024 13:00

@cosylife congratulations 💐
