Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

Thanks @El1988 @DanisEndo and @MsNeis! @MsNeis I'm 27+6 today, I did look up the gestational diabetes UK website and joined the fb group which seems to have lots of helpful advice. I’ve now done 2.5 days on the monitoring and I have nine readings all green just one breakfast was red! I’m hoping to keep it up in the coming days before I have my next review. I haven’t cut out carbs completely, even had some bread yesterday and went for a walk after and the reading was fine. It’s mostly the trouble of having to time everything I feel is restrictive (but I know it’s just temporary and all worth it), I work from home mainly but sometimes completely swamped with meetings so I’m now scheduling my lunches in so I’ll have time to go for a quick walk afterwards. I was planning to work until 39 weeks (DS was born 42 weeks so I didn’t want to go early this time) but now I’ve read because of GD they would likely induce early. That’s what’s probably worrying me the most, not so much the induction because I’ve had it before and it was fine but that if the induction is early and less likely to work then I would be pushed for a c section which I’d like to avoid. My son is was 9lbs7oz born vaginally so I should be fine if baby is similar size but I think if you have confirmed GD then they would not recommend to get to that stage. Well I’m probably overthinking it right now!! I start the growth scans next week so will start to get an indication of baby’s size then.

@beaniesunrise good luck on your test next week!

DanisEndo · 25/03/2024 10:30

Negative GTT results!! 🥳🥳 and the consultant is so pleased with everything going smoothly I’ve been discharged from her care, so totally with the midwives now. So relieved.
heard baby girls heartbeat and the doctor said she’s sounding really strong and happy.

ftm97001 · 26/03/2024 11:56

hey everyone, hope you're all doing okay I am soooo tired! I was just wondering if any of you are in the same position I'm 28 weeks pregnant today and ive currently only gained 4kg in weight and my bump has only just started to show, i have a midwife app next week but Im not sure if this is normal or not, i was 55kg before i got pregnant.

Suchardchoccy · 26/03/2024 13:18

@ftm97001 me too I am exhausted! I'm 27+3 and my bump is so sore with ligament pain today, and quite tight. Lol I haven't weighed myself but my bump is fairly big I would say, it is my 3rd pregnancy tho! I think all bumps are different and I wouldn't stress too much.

waster86 · 26/03/2024 17:22

@May5th I also failed my GTT. Just been to collect all my testing equipment and get my instructions etc.
Feel completely overwhelmed by everything to be honest and very sorry for myself.
I know it will all be worth it in the end.
Also, going to France for a week next week and already sulking slightly about not being able to have cheese, pate and wine but now no bread, pastries or cakes!! Actually depressing!!

glasshalffull0 · 26/03/2024 19:44

I've been referred for a GTT now too, I do it 3 days before I go on holiday to the U.S! Really hoping it comes back negative so I can enjoy some nice food in the States.

Is anyone else getting a bit more uncomfortable now? I'm 26 weeks and started getting round ligament pain again and I sometimes get a feeling of pressure down below too

beaniesunrise · 26/03/2024 20:37

Thanks @May5th ! I have my midwife appt tomorrow so will find out my GTT results from today.. fasting level was 5.3, which is in normal range. It’s the after glucose drink (that always tastes nasty) levels will be interesting to see how my body handles it now.

I wonder if I’ll be having growth measurements taken place now that I’m almost at 28 weeks? I don’t recall having them start this late with my first DC.

There’s a lot of tightness happening here too! Not sure if they’re braxton hicks or just the way the baby is laying.

I’m feeling so eager to get everything all prepped and ready (nursery/baby items) already but holding off till 30 weeks..

Has anyone started packing their hospital bags already?

i would try not to worry too much. I’ve only put on 1kg according to my GPs scales between being weighed at 5 weeks versus 26 weeks yesterday. He didn’t comment or seem worried. I only started to show at 25 week really and people are commenting on how small bump is, which is nice but also sometimes makes me worried about growth. I was a very big standard size 10-12 pre pregnancy so I really do think everyone is just different in how they carry.

Also yes, I’m still so tired alll the time 😅

Ladamesansmerci · 26/03/2024 21:46

29 weeks tomorrow and due June 12th!

Genuinely can't wait for it to be done. I'm not someone who has enjoyed pregnancy. Physically it's fine, but it's wreaked havoc on my pre-existing OCD and anxiety. I'm so ready for baby to be here, yet still so consumed with worry about still birth and stupid intrusive thoughts about baby being kidnapped, or me driving off a bridge with her, etc :(

Also counting down the weeks until mat leave starts. I've found pregnancy and work at the same time very difficult.

What is everyone here having and are you mostly prepared now? :)

May5th · 27/03/2024 08:14

Hang in the there @waster86 and good luck @glasshalffull0 and @beaniesunrise. I was doing really well on the monitoring for the first five days with all readings green apart from one. I’ve not eaten bread much, have cut down on rice and quantity of fruit and try to do the food pairing (apple with peanut butter or cheese etc.) and go for a walk after eating. I was actually feeling really good and proud of myself but now since yesterday everything’s gone downhill with three red readings including the fasting readings in the morning (which are apparently more difficult to influence) 😭😢. I’m feeling deflated and convinced they will prescribe medicine next week when I have my first review.

But on a positive note I had my first growth scan this week too and baby is looking good but big on 93 percentile (which I was expecting since DS was born similar percentile and partner is tall), otherwise everything was good in terms of amount of fluid and measurements are balanced i.e stomach is in line head measurement etc. just a big boy overall. They said it’s too early to talk about whether they would recommend induction early but I think it’s likely heading that way especially if I can’t diet control the GD. Baby is still in breech but apparently that’s okay, I hope he tries to turn soon before running out of space to do it. I have my next scan at 32 weeks.

I haven’t started buying anything yet apart from the buggy which is in a box in the cupboard. Trying to hold out for another few weeks until week 30 although I have made various shopping baskets ready 😂

Mountainview8 · 27/03/2024 08:17

I think I had a growth spurt weeks 26-29 and felt quite uncomfortable. Last week and this week (30) I've actually felt pretty good, back aches and round ligament pain eased and I think I've got used to being bigger. But not sure it'll last long 😂

Goldie1234 · 27/03/2024 21:40

@waster86 that would make me so sad too ! A pregnancy without pastries... bright side you'll be way ahead of the game trying to lose baby weight !?!

Goldie1234 · 27/03/2024 21:46

Is anyone else having growth scans and how are they going ?

I've just had my first scan (28 weeks) for a history or reduced fluid, growth and movement in my previous pregnancies. This baby is now measuring on the 6th centile. I feel like he was in the 30s at the 20 week scan, but does anyone know if 29 week scan is very accurate ?
My amniotic fluid level is normal but on the lower side 5.2cm (normal is 5cm - 25cm) so although normal now, it's making me a bit worried it's going to reduce and there's not much leeway! They didn't mention the fluid, other than is was normal, but I'm being booked in again in 2 weeks time for another scan to keep an eye on baby 👍🏽

I'm hoping to be induced at around 38 weeks.. counting kicks and monitoring movements is a lot of pressure..

DanisEndo · 28/03/2024 19:50

27 weeks today and officially third trimester! Madness. Had our travel system delivered today and I’ve excitedly put it all together. Chuffed with it tbh after weeks and weeks of research and getting quite stressed.

also feeling quite achey and getting more ligament pains. Also some pains in my ribs and lower back if I’m in my office chair too long.

I have my first growth scan at the start of May so still a few weeks to go but can’t wait to see her again.

fingers crossed for those waiting on their GTT results and sending love to those with positives ♥️

Mountainview8 · 30/03/2024 07:46

I had my growth scan yesterday and after measuring 3rd percentile on fundal height measurement, after scan measurements and plotting on my growth chart the baby is 87 percentile! So much difference between the measurements. It was lovely to see the baby, although their had was in from of their face so couldn't get a good view. And they are head down which hopefully ain't change now, they can't have much room in there!

Almost exactly the same as me 😂 are you feeling very full and uncomfortable? I need my bump to expand to fit this giant child better 🤣

LavenderJoy · 30/03/2024 11:40

I hope everyone is keeping well, has anyone had previous experiences having a big baby? I had a 28 week growth scan and he is on the 99th centile 🙈 so I’m having a diabetes test which I am praying I don’t have, I don’t have any signs, so fingers crossed🤞
has anyone had big babies and gone all the way to full term with a healthy baby?

NorthernDaisy · 30/03/2024 11:42

@Mountainview8 and @Couggstar123 similar here, ours is on the 88th percentile! And his head is on the 95th😬 Do you think you'll make it to 40 weeks? I already had an elective C-section booked for 39+3 for other reasons but am starting to wonder if I might go into labour earlier. Not sure how much bigger my normally petite body can grow!

May5th · 30/03/2024 13:02

Big baby here too, measuring 93rd percentile on the 28 week. I was asking the consultant about the potential early induction and she said it’s too early to say yet. Because I have GD diagnosis now (but diet controlled) my regular midwife said they may let it go to 40 weeks but maybe do early sweeps. My first son was born on 97th (if I remember correctly) so I’m not worried provided I’m still tracking a similar size, he was born at 42 weeks after induction weighing 9lbs 7 and despite a long induction I managed with just a small tear which healed quickly and the whole experience was positive. That time I didn’t have growth scans or GD so I think once I have the next two growth scans if it looks like baby is tracking even bigger then I’d want early induction I think.

oop · 30/03/2024 17:14

Aw I kinda wish I had growth scans! Been so long since I've seen the baby on a screen. She was breech at my 31 week appointment but lots of time for her to move so fingers crossed she flips over.

@Couggstar123 I don't feel too bad at the moment just my bump feels quite tight and getting more out of breath.

There hasn't been any mention yet of what might happen around the birth. I just don't like the idea of having to birth a big baby!

AllTheNaps · 30/03/2024 18:27

@Mountainview8 my midwife calls fundal height measurements 'pre historic' 😅 which I tend to agree with.
It's mad how different they can be!

I'm having growth scans for prev MC history, having small babies and having a low lying placenta. I'm 31 weeks so have another next week. Baby is also transverse so they're being pretty awkward.

Feeling quite lucky at how well my body is holding out so far, maybe it's because it's #3 but apart from the usual aches and pains I'm still managing to wangle a toddler too (for now!)

Elmlee · 01/04/2024 23:05

Hey ladies,
Hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread.

I found out 10 days ago I was nearly 7 months pregnant!

Safe to say we are both totally shocked and sidelined by the news. As was on the pill.

We have a 3 year old (lockdown baby) and as much as I had always wanted a big family, we decided to be one and done.

Here we are at 28+4 and we are having another girl and can't believe this is happening again 🥰

Now we are frantically getting things ready, I'm trying to get all my appointments and referrals!

I'd love some mummy friends, I'm in North Wales

Hotmalibu94 · 02/04/2024 06:21

@Elmlee bloody hell that's a shock! I'm in Wales, near Brecon so probably a little away from you still but maybe one of the closest 😅

How are you feeling?

Suchardchoccy · 02/04/2024 09:43

@Elmlee wow congratulations!! And you're already over half way 😂👏🏻
