Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

@DanisEndo yes and the ligament pains 😥

DanisEndo · 19/03/2024 09:08

@Suchardchoccy omg the ligament pain 😅 it’s so hard to explain to the husband!

oop · 20/03/2024 16:17

My movements have finally become truly consistent and regular now - at about 28 weeks I'd say. That's with an anterior placenta, it was definitely more like 24 weeks with my first (posterior).
I'm now being woken up by kicks and wondering why I was wishing for this 😂

I'm so so uncomfortable at the moment, I feel huge and heavy and everything hurts all the time. So that's fun... Another 10 weeks of this. Anyone else struggling with bump?

@oop I'm 25+3 and I'm starting to get uncomfortable and heavy, it seems to have come from nothing over the past couple of days. I'm the same as you- I have no idea how I can last for another 15 weeks!

Mountainview8 · 20/03/2024 19:40

@oop I'm 29 weeks and have an anterior placenta. I've been feeling movements for quite a while but last week it felt like the baby kept getting in positions where I couldn't feel their movements that strongly, but the last couple of days had been much stronger, but I don't know if that will continue if they shifting position.
I'm wondering if they are now head down because when I walk out feels heavy low down. Hopefully my midwife can tell me tomorrow!

Hotmalibu94 · 20/03/2024 19:46

@Mountainview8 I'm the same with anterior placenta and sometimes the movements aren't as strong! I put it down to them hiding in a weird position. My most common and strongest movements are on my right side, where my placenta isn't 😅

oop · 20/03/2024 20:09

@Mountainview8 @Hotmalibu94 at my last midwife appointment she was transverse which is why I think I can feel the movements much stronger at the moment. I'll be interested to see if she's moved next week as it must affect how much we can feel, especially as your placenta won't be covering the whole front.

@glasshalffull0 it's daunting isn't it! Hoping the arrival of some nicer weather will distract me from the discomfort soon so the last bit flies by!

Suchardchoccy · 20/03/2024 22:24

@DanisEndo yes haha, I always say it feels like being stabbed even tho I have no idea what that feels like!!

Suchardchoccy · 20/03/2024 22:26

@oop yep I'm 26+4 with an anterior placenta and have only just started to notice some sort of pattern. Feeling huge and breathless and more like I'm 36+4 but nope that's going to be a lot worse 🤣

Mountainview8 · 21/03/2024 14:57

Had my first bump measurement today and it's measuring small (even though I feel big!) so I'll need to go for a growth scan, but at least we'll get to see our baby again! The midwife couldn't get a good heartbeat reading because the baby was wriggling around so much, but I couldn't feel it and they kicked the doppler 😂

I had to go for a growth scan too cos bump was 3rd centile. Baby was something like 75th centile and measured 5 days ahead! Explains why I feel so uncomfortable, poor babes must be squished in there. Wish my body would give in and pop a bit but I’ve been sucking my gut in for 20 years so a bit rich of me to suddenly want it to grow 🤣🤣

Mountainview8 · 21/03/2024 19:16

@Couggstar123 that's quite a difference! Bump measurement doesn't seem to be that accurate, a student and the midwife got different measurements. So will be interesting to see what the scan says.

15rainbow · 21/03/2024 19:30

When were you all measured? I've had my 25 week appt with the midwife and it wasn't done then. Maybe because I'll be having growth scans anyway?

Couggstar123 · 21/03/2024 19:32

@Mountainview8 yeah it’s absolutely wild how variable the measurements are 🤣 even the scans vary massively depending on position and movement of baby. I just try and not think about it. I’ve had six scans now and nothing has ever been flagged up so he seems to be doing okay! Better than me, I am very much surviving, not thriving! Second trimester energy turned out to be a myth for me and I now have some pretty severe third trimester nausea and an irritable uterus just to add to the fun. Also face planted on a dog walk and ended up admitted for monitoring. Thankfully all fine but jeeeeees what a hoot its been. 🙄 🤪

Think it was 25 weeks! I have heard people say they don’t get fundal height done if they are down for growth scans anyway. Probably just as well as it’s so unreliable 🤣

Hotmalibu94 · 21/03/2024 19:49

@15rainbow my midwife said they do it from 26 weeks so I didn't get measured at the 25 weeks appointment but I will from my next one 😁 so I imagine maybe it varies by area, could also be to do with the growth scans though!

MizzMarple · 21/03/2024 20:51

My midwife said she wouldn’t do measurements as I’m having growth scans. I don’t know if that’s a general policy.

15rainbow · 21/03/2024 20:55

Thanks, sounds like it's most likely to do with my scans then

DanisEndo · 22/03/2024 09:43

Currently sat an hour into the 2 hour wait for the diabetes test and I feel DODGE. hot dizzy and a bit sick. Anyone else had this?

@15rainbow I was also told I wouldn’t be having bump measurements because of extra growth scans.

May5th · 22/03/2024 13:27

I had the glucose test on Tuesday and unfortunately I didn’t pass it ☹️ My fasting blood was fine 4.7 but after the sugar drink it was 8.5 so I have GB. I started the monitoring yesterday and had a green day (all measurements within the normal range) but this morning I spiked up slightly over the range after breakfast. I have the diabetes midwife appointment in 10 days and I’m hoping that I can keep the measurements green and avoid the medication. But I’m feeling super sad and annoyed about it, I don’t have diabetes in my family and have never had issues with sugar before (my first baby was big although I wasn’t tested at the time). I’m trying to cut out carbs as much as possible, and going for walk after each meal but it feels quite a lot to do on top of everything. I hope yours is fine and you’re within the normal range @DanisEndo.

MsNeis · 22/03/2024 16:08

Oh, @DanisEndo I stand in solidarity 😬I did the glucose test two times this pregnancy and the second time I felt the same way you described: in the first hour, I felt sick and dizzy. Fortunately, it passed and the remaining hours I was just bored 😅I got my results in a couple of days and all was well. I hope it goes well for you too!

El1988 · 22/03/2024 16:10

Hi @May5th

i had an initial glucose test which was “borderline” so I have to go back on Tuesday to do another test to make sure I’ve no gestational diabetes - keeping my fingers crossed but my dad has type 2, so there’s a possibility that I do have it… 🤞 you can keep the measurements in the green!

The movements are really confusing me atm - I could barely feel him for two days so I got worried and went to the hospital to check, and of course he was fine and then started dancing the Macarena in my stomach afterwards 🙄

hope everyone is keeping ok, and managing ❤️

MsNeis · 22/03/2024 16:17

Hi, @May5th , how far are you? I did the second test when I was 26 weeks and I was convinced I had GD so I started reading a lot and researching and found this website: https://www.gestationaldiabetes.co.uk/
I don't know if you've come across it, but anywhere I looked, other moms where recommending it and it really is full of helpful advise and support. Everyone says it's difficult at the beginning but then you find what works for you (in terms of food and exercise) and you can have a healthy and fairly normal pregnancy 🙏Stay strong and take care 💪And remember: it's temporary and it shall pass 💐

thanks for the well wishes. I got home about lunch and have been shattered even since eating! the whole experience really took it out of me.

@May5th oh May I’m feeling for you! Great you got the results quickly and have been able to stay mostly in the Green so far. Will keep fingers crossed you can avoid the need for medication. Easier said than done but try not to beat yourself up for it. ♥️

@MsNeis thank you! It didn’t taste as bad as I was expecting but I really didn’t anticipate that feeling! So hoping for the all clear 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

beaniesunrise · 22/03/2024 20:36

Hi everyone! Hope it’s ok to join.

I’m 27 weeks with my second baby ☺️ counting down the weeks until I go on leave from work! Contemplating when to start my hospital bag this time around, and already feeling like nesting.
I can feel baby move throughout the day, and getting some really hard jabs lately lol
GTT on Tuesday, 2nd test as had I had Gestational diabetes with my first baby so they tested me early at 16 weeks. Somehow seemed to have passed that, and now got my 2nd one next week!
