Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

Happy New Year ladies- the year all our babies arrive into the world!

I had my 12 week scan the Thursday before Xmas and all my screening tests and I still haven't had my results through the post. The midwife said 7 days but obviously the Royal Mail haven't been delivering as much.

Has anyone else had a delay getting their results? I'm hoping everything is good as I haven't had a phone call but it's playing on my mind

VJ88 · 01/01/2024 19:57

@glasshalffull0 I was told 2-3 weeks for results in the post! But they also said if there was any cause for concern a midwife would call me. My tests were on Dec 18th and we've not heard yet, either but since I've not had a phone call, the longer it's been the less anxious I'm feeling. Hope you hear soon

DanisEndo · 02/01/2024 10:59

@glasshalffull0 i was told 10 working days which would of course be delayed with all the bank holidays but like @VJ88 said the midwife said I’d be contacted if anything worrying was flagged

DanisEndo · 02/01/2024 11:01

Happy baby year everyone!!
6 months to go!!

babyp2024 · 02/01/2024 14:06

Hi ladies,

Well I am officially outnumbered. We had our gender scan at 16 weeks on 30/12 and we are having a little boy! We are over the moon and I knew he was a boy since the beginning - I just had a feeling! First boy in the family for a long time and we are so happy.

Obviously would have been happy either way, but we couldnt get a girls name set, but we've had our boys name since day one 😂

@DanisEndo @VJ88 yeah it's reassuring me that I haven't had a phone call it's just frustrating with all the delays due to the bank holidays!

glasshalffull0 · 02/01/2024 20:03

@babyp2024 congratulations!! I'm desperate to find out the gender but my partner is adamant that we wait until our 20 week scan on the 14th Feb so I'm being very patient!

Suchardchoccy · 03/01/2024 10:21

I had my 16 week app this morning. I'm 15+4. I've signed up for the home birth team, I have so many questions

cosylife · 03/01/2024 12:13

I have to have fortnightly scans as my pregnancy is high risk - have one today and I’m 18+4 weeks, do you think I could be cheeky and ask them if they can see the sex/gender or just wait until my 20 week scan?

VJ88 · 03/01/2024 13:29

@cosylife I think if they get a good view they might be able to tell you. I've got a scan at 16+4 and they said at my 12 week scan it might be possible to find out the gender then!

Expecting0624 · 03/01/2024 15:27

Hiya All

Just found this thread and joining. Due 22nd June. Great to be able to talk to people in the same position xx

Expecting0624 · 03/01/2024 15:30

Hi. Who did you did your nub theory with? I sent my scan photo off to baby gram and nubologists.. one said 80% girl and the other said 85% boy so I am no better off lol. X

VJ88 · 03/01/2024 19:37

Just got the results for our Down's, Edwards and Patau syndrome screening and we're low risk for all of them. I've had such an anxious few days and so some solid, good information was really needed today

cosylife · 03/01/2024 19:40

Thanks @VJ88 abd great news on the results! I had my quad results back last week and was low risk. Like you I was so anxious!

DanisEndo · 04/01/2024 11:43

Also got the syndrome screening results yesterday and low risk for everything! Phew :) glad you’re both relieved as well @VJ88 @cosylife

myself and my husband have been asked to arrange the stag and hen dos for my BIL (husbands brother) + SIL to be. I am STRESSED. my due date is 27 June, BIL has asked for stag before the due date so husband can go, they’re looking at early May around the 32/33 week mark. Nervous but fine, I can ask my mum or sister to stay with me. But SIL wants me to be able to join in so post baby, dates available mean baby would only be 4/6weeks old. I have no idea if I’ll be able to leave them overnight, if I’ll want to, if breastfeeding will be an issue, if my husband will be ready to go solo for a weekend, if I’ll be physically recovered to join in with water sports activities she wants. I love her so much and so want to plan the best day for her but no idea if it’s realistic for me to commit to being there or if she’ll be hurt if I don’t.

probably a whole post in its own but it kept me up all night worrying …. Any advice from existing mums?

Wheeeeee · 04/01/2024 11:47

I had my scan/screening on 8th December and haven't heard any results yet, so hoping no news is good news. I've a midwife appointment this afternoon so hopefully that will be confirmed but I'm getting nervous.

@DanisEndo I have to say I'd have been in no state for that sort of hen do at 4 or 6 weeks post partum. At best, I might have managed a few hours doing something sedate and not too far from home. Everyone is different and no doubt there are some women who cope better than I did 😅 but just giving you my honest experience.

oop · 04/01/2024 11:57

Happy new year all!

@DanisEndo hmm that's tricky. I have to say that there was no way in hell would I have been able to go to a hen do at 4/6 weeks post partum. It still hurt to sit down for long periods at 4 weeks and I was in a very difficult period for breastfeeding. Everyone's different but even without the recovery side I didn't want to be away from my baby at all until he was about 7 months (and I didn't manage an overnight until 11 months). I realise I'm on the extreme side of that but it caught me by surprise! I would prepare your SIL that you are unlikely to make it to anything more than a couple of hours (with baby) and that you understand if she wouldn't want that.

VJ88 · 04/01/2024 11:58

@DanisEndo we are saying no to a wedding that will be approx 6 weeks post-partum because I don't think I'll be able to handle the travel and an overnight stay with a newborn, and that would be with my partner there to help out.

Where will the hen do be? If it is close to home could you pop along for a few hours here and there? Or do they want to go away somewhere?

waster86 · 04/01/2024 12:10

@DanisEndo like the other ladies have mentioned, I would be in no fit state to have gone on a hen weekend 4 to 6 weeks post part. Also, for me, it was a really key time for setting up a routine and trying to get as much sleep as possible. I had an emergency C section so couldn't drive until 6 weeks pp and still felt very sore.

Personally though I felt pretty good up until about 37 weeks so maybe worth looking at something pre- baby. Maybe won't be able to join in everything but will have a much nicer time.

(FYI, I know I am extreme and due to covid but I didn't have a night away from my LB until he was 3!!!)

DanisEndo · 04/01/2024 13:11

@waster86 @VJ88 @oop @Wheeeeee thank you so much for your replies - they’ve confirmed what I thought!!

She gave some mixed messages really, she said she wouldn’t mind staying local but also would want an over night thing and named a few locations all at least 2 hours away. her non negotiables were a water sport, something the mums could join us on and a night out.

maybe I’ll see if there’s something i could join with the mums then go home so I’m just there for the low impact day rather than the whole weekend or if she’d be open to doing something before babies arrival and I can watch certain parts…

we’ll be going to the wedding which is overnight a couple hours away with the newborn (c.9 weeks old) but relatively reassured by the fact me and husband are in it together even if it’s hard.

Faithincats · 04/01/2024 13:55

Great to hear about all your recent positive scans and test results!

Just got my anomaly scan date through for when I should be 20w5d... I was really hoping it would be a bit sooner 😬 It feels like a long time to wait, but hopefully being back at work and busy will make the time go quickly!

Wheeeeee · 04/01/2024 14:02

Just had my 16 week midwife appointment and all my 12 week test results came back low risk, which is a relief. All ticking along nicely really, just wish I could shake the nausea/sickness/fatigue.

Catson · 19/12/2023 17:48

Oh my, that sounds like it wouldn't be much fun. All is well here too, EDD 25th

We're virtually due date twins! I hope all these lovely June mums are doing well and not been hit by too much tiredness over the festive period! Has anyone suffered from hideous sickness that's carried on into second trimester?

oop · 04/01/2024 18:45

@DanisEndo i went to a wedding with a 9week old and it was absolutely fine. Those extra few weeks make a difference and having your partner there to help. We had a room in the venue too so we could put him to bed in the evening and take in turns popping back down to the party to socialise a bit.

This is a really random question and not even sure if it's pregnancy related, but had anyone else noticed since they have been pregnant they are snoring!? 😴 my husband is about to divorce me haha, but it only seems to be since I've been pregnant that the snoring is much louder and worse, to be honest i wake myself up with it sometimes 🤣
