@SummerOak agree with you it’s getting real too!!

I am 35 weeks and felt baby inside tummy is fully stretched, there shouldn’t have anymore room for 5more weeks!! Will the belly continue to grow ?!?!

besides yesterday been to the Babyshow in London, very successful trip and got almost all the essential in one go. However , regretted didn’t get anything from the My Expert Midwife. For example the perineal massage oil and products for post natal care. I read more about it online and suggested some of the products good to be in the hospital bag. Some spray they help sooth stinging after labour.

I wonder did anyone use their products? Any recommendation for 1st preg. At the moment only the massage oil seems like a must have to me.

thanks!

@MumDaisy1980 I'm 34+3 and seriously don't understand how my belly can get bigger. I read that the growth is slower in the last couple of weeks, hoping that's true.

I have couple of things from My Expert Midwife, like the Fantastic skin elastic, massaging stick and spritz for uplift. But these are all for during pregnancy, 1st baby also so can't comment on the ones for after birth or the perineal oil.

Does anyone have symptoms of low blood pressure? I was feeling a bit dizzy and nauseous as it got a bit hot in the kitchen, tried my BP and it was 88 / 58. I've rested and it went back up. But not sure if this is something I should call my midwife for?

MumDaisy1980 · 05/03/2024 11:58

@Petris123 do you usually have low blood pressure? Throughout my preg I am more towards low BP. So deemed to be normal in my case. Just have to be careful on sudden movement. I would have half a second light headed time to time . But never a major concern to me. And no harm to call midwife for any concern!

Petris123 · 05/03/2024 12:04

@MumDaisy1980 i normally have it in the normal range, maybe slightly on the lower end of what's considered normal, but I've never seen it that low. I'll probably call her just to make sure I don't have to do anything. Thank you!

ASGIRC · 05/03/2024 15:13

@Petris123 Always call if youre worried, but high BP is more worrying than low BP.

I had low BP in the 1st tri, but now it tends more to the high (They always measure me several times, as it is usually in the 140/90, but after a few tries, it does go down to the 125/85 ish range!

Sleep has been absolutely shit these days! The hip pain, the reflux, the belly pain... I just cant sleep for longer than an hour straight.
Also think I am having back contractions, that get really painful.

I am 100% over this.

Just had my 34 week appointment and this baby is still breech!🥲 Starting to get a little bit worried now that she might not turn, that appointment was defo more in depth than any of my others have been, she asked about my birth plan but as I haven’t even started thinking about it yet has agreed we can do that at my next appointment. I know I’ve been pregnant for 8 months now but it’s as if I’ve only just realised I actually have to push this human out of me, I’m scared!🤣

Hopefulfirstround · 05/03/2024 18:34

@Mrsttcno1 get on the website spinning babies !!! Really good for movement for trying to turn a breech baby .

i just picked up a colostrum harvesting pack from my local maternity and planning to start after 37 weeks , but I haven’t had any leakage or anything ? Anyone have any experience with breast feeding and when they noticed some milk production ?

chlo299 · 05/03/2024 18:38

Just wanted to update everyone just had my 34w growth scan and baby has slowed down its growth quite a bit and with my GD apparently it's odd so I will be getting induced at 37w 🫣 I'm happy 😃 although I forgot to ask what happens because they booked me in and asked to call at 6.30am and not sure what happens after that

Mrsttcno1 · 05/03/2024 18:40

Thanks @Hopefulfirstround I feel like I’ve tried everything in the 2 weeks since my last appointment so I’m a bit disheartened that she’s still not moved but I’m going to keep it up for another 2 weeks! The midwife has ultimately said if she doesn’t move by the next appointment then we will be sent for a presentation scan and due to her size (she’s measuring huge) we’d have to decide how to proceed whether that’s a c section, ECV or try for vaginal delivery despite being breech although with her size they recommend against that.

I’ve been given a harvesting pack to actively start after 37 weeks, I’ve been leaking for about 6 weeks and the last 2 weeks have been horrendous for it, especially after bath/shower and when lying in bed I’m covered in it!

Ttcmumma · 05/03/2024 18:41

@Hopefulfirstround I never noticed any with my first child! Until after he was born and he fed straight away nice and easily. I'm 35+1 and I wasn't sure if I saw a tiny bit of something yesterday so I gave a tiny little squeeze and saw a glimpse of liquid! I stopped as I know it's a bit early to be doing that but if you look up how to handle/squeeze your breast/nipple for stimulation. I haven't seen where to get a colostrum harvesting set yet but I am interested for when I turn 37 weeks also.

Just want to ask if the harvesting pack was given by midwife ? Or hospital?

i thought I would need to buy it elsewhere like boots?!

Mrsttcno1 · 05/03/2024 19:16

I’ve been given mine by my midwife @MumDaisy1980 so I assume that will be standard for all hospitals!

Hopefulfirstround · 05/03/2024 21:46

@Mrsttcno1 I’ll have my fingers crossed that they turn for you ❤️🤞🏼,

@MumDaisy1980 Im from Ireland , they give them in the maternity hospitals here just before you do the colostrum harvesting class but I’m not sure what they set up is in the UK.

@Ttcmumma that’s so reassuring , thank you , I was worried when I hadn’t noticed anything that I was going to have issues with supply . Really hoping to breast feed , I realise it may not happen but just going to give it my best shot

Knock123 · 05/03/2024 22:08

@chlo299 I was induced at 37 week last pregnancy for reduced growth but I wasn't given any warning - I went for a scan and they decided to induce that day. Just be prepared that it might take a few days to get things going as most women's bodies are not ready at 37 weeks. Also, take the epidural

ASGIRC · 06/03/2024 00:07

@Knock123 a fellow IVFer of mine went into the hospital on SATURDAY to get induced, as her baby was registering reduced movements. The baby still has NOT been born! Shes not even in active labour yet, though they have broken her waters now, in an effort to speed up the process.

So yeah, it definitely can take a good few days!!

Amf2508 · 06/03/2024 06:39

Anybody had an irritable uterus? I was up triage Monday for 7 hours being monitored with strong braxton hicks coming every 5 minutes 😩 honestly thought it was the beginnings of a long labour! Now have such a sore stomach and cramping on and off I think as a result. Hoping it's not going to happen again 35+5 now and definitely not looking forwards to a possible 4-6 weeks of this 😩🤣

Knock123 · 06/03/2024 08:08

@ASGIRC ugh your poor friend, hope things get going for her soon.
Mine actually went fairly fast, I went in on a Fri eve, waters broken Sunday eve, and baby was born Mon morning.

My current baby's growth is also slowing so I may have another induction in a few weeks which is fine, it's just so boring waiting around for things to happen in hospital.

Knock123 · 06/03/2024 08:10

@Amf2508 I've been suffering with a lot of braxton hicks - I didn't have them this early last time that I remember - although I've not had any pain just been uncomfortable and I've not had any sort of diagnosis or been seen as I know it's definitely not labour! I have found having a warm bath or hot water bottle helps relax everything.

chlo299 · 06/03/2024 08:28

Based on my 34w scan the femur length is in 6% drop from 12% at 28w and is 59.8mm I can't seem to find much information on the femur length do you guys know if I should be concerned ? The consultant said it's fine as long as it doesn't drop below 3% and said doesn't mean the baby would be short but I could do with a little bit more reassurance. Thanks x

sugarplum33 · 06/03/2024 09:42

@chlo299 If the consultant who deals with this everyday has said not to be concerned I'd take that as your reassurance. They know what they're talking about far more than any of us :) fetal measurements are tricky and tiny differences in measurements can have big impacts on centiles. Look at all the women who have inaccurate growth scans telling them their baby will be huge or tiny and they're born perfectly normal size- it certainly isn't a precise science!

Ttcmumma · 06/03/2024 10:23

@chlo299 I was always so behind on the centiles when my mum was pregnant with me. The doctors always thought I was too small or not developing properly. I'm 5 ft 3( almost 4!) and a slim petite build (when not pregnant haha) but perfectly healthy. I was just under 6lbs when born with chubby cheeks. The main thing is they keep an eye that she hasn't stopped growing so they can get her out if needs be! But don't stress I'm sure baby is fine, centiles jump all over the place all the time x

ASGIRC · 06/03/2024 14:30

@Knock123 She still hasn[t had the baby and was only 3cm dilated when they checked this morning!!! She went into the hospital at 1cm on SATURDAY!
I think she is going for a c section now.

@Amf2508 Im on modified bed rest because of Braxton Hicks since I was 31 weeks! They seem to have eased now, but I keep getting this back pain, that I think are also contractions.
If you are having that many BH, I doubt you will get to 40 weeks, let alone 42! I would start thinking in terms of making it to 37 and anything after that as a bonus!!

MumDaisy1980 · 06/03/2024 22:00

i wonder if anyone started perineal massage? Or done that in previous pregnancy? Do you recommend?

I tried it for the first time with my partner help. It’s painful!!
