Hi ladies, adding myself to this after my bfp over the weekend.

This is baby #3 for me and I’m due April 27th which is actually my daughters birthday 🫣
I’ve have two previous C-sections so it will unlikely be that date but a busy month for us!

I had a chemical in December and a mmc in March so I’m pretty anxious at the moment. I’ve had some spotting which isn’t helping but telling myself that it can be quite normal and trying to think positively, hence joining here.

Hope you are all doing well 💜

Bertiebean · 21/08/2023 20:38

I’ve had an early scan at epu - should have been 7 weeks exactly but measured 6 + 4 do you think this is okay? I have an nhs viability scan on Friday and very anxious!

I also have had my booking in appt now so feel like I’m somewhat on the train but worried I’m being complacent and things can still go very wrong… according to my lmp I should be 8 weeks tomorrow and due 1st April I think.

id love to tell just one friend but I’m too scared until it’s safe.

Poppins2016 · 21/08/2023 21:02

@GinAndBearIt90 my youngest will be 2 next month! How old is your little one?

How are you finding breastfeeding while pregnant? I hated it last time round as my nipples were so sensitive... this time it doesn't seem as bad, but I'm wondering whether it'll ramp up as the pregnancy progresses (I can't remember when it peaked past time). I'm definitely feeling it though and often wince when he latches on!

I'm planning/hoping to wean off breastfeeding before #3 is born as I think I'm ready to stop... Although he is very much not ready to stop and uses it for comfort whenever I'm around... 🙄 which is making my decision easy on one hand (my aversion) and hard on the other (he's still very much attached to "boobies" and I feel bad!). My oldest was 2.5 when I weaned him off, partly because we were both ready (he was showing signs of being less reliant on it, plus he understood books that I read to him about stopping, which was helpful) and partly because I was prescribed aspirin during my last pregnancy and breastfeeding was contraindicated.

Annoyingly, my youngest is only happy to go to sleep while feeding (or being cuddled/lying next to me post feed) if I put him down for a nap/sleep or see to him in the night... my DH can put him in the cot and walk away/just cuddle him and it's much easier! Little one is teething at the moment, so he's waking a couple of times a night and only wants me... suffice to say, I'm exhausted what with night wakings and being about 6 weeks pregnant... 😴😴😴

Hi @Bertiebean sorry that you are having a rough time and I can completely understand your anxiety.
I can only assume that at this early stage it must difficulty to get exact measurements so I think being out by a few days is fine.

I know that there is this rule that you shouldn’t tell anyone until 12weeks but personally I would confide in a friend, especially if you are worried and need someone in real life to talk to.

Sending you big hugs x

Ttcmumma · 21/08/2023 21:12

@Bertiebean hey Hun, my scan at epu today measured 6 weeks. I expected 6+2 by LMP or 6+4 from my app as I ovulate a little early. Did you see a heartbeat? If you did then honestly probably nothing to worry about. My doctor was happy and said I was on track and I'm no longer under egu care

orangedress · 21/08/2023 22:17

Hi! I'm due 18th April! This will be my 2nd after having had a chemical and a mmc last year... really hoping this is the one!

ASGIRC · 21/08/2023 22:49

Housenoob · 21/08/2023 10:13

I'm due on the 5th April with #2.

7+3 today and had to take a pregnancy test again last night just to double check I was still pregnant as I still don't really have any symptoms! Maybe the odd food aversion and tiredness but if I didn't know I was pregnant I probably wouldn't even notice it.

To be fair, thats me. Im exactly the same time as you.
My lack of appetite/food aversion is the only symptom, but it is not there all the time.
I even have a scan under my belt, with a strong heartbeat, but am still shitting myself that things will go badly.
And get worried if I dont have a lack of appetite, which is ridiculous, because Ive really struggled the past week, with hunger and not being able to eat much!

I wouldnt call it a rule... More like a widespread overreaction.
The truth is that it is very unlikely to lose a baby after 7/8 weeks, particularly if there has been a scan. Chances are 2-4%, which is a tiny tiny amount!
Obviously, if you dont have an early scan, you have no idea how things are actually going, but I think these days most people end up having one at around 8 weeks.

Ive told most of the family now, and some friends, after my 7 week scan.
After my 9 week scan, I will definitely start telling more friends, if things look ok still!!

And I agree, I would definitely confide in a friend for support! Theres literally zero reason not to. Supposedly that person will also support you if it ends up in a loss.

FingersCrossedXXX · 22/08/2023 06:43

@fleur89 So sorry to hear that. It's devastating.

I was due a scan this Friday but moved too today when I'll be 5+4 due to brown spotting. I've had 2 previous ectopics back to back and im pretty sure this is going to be my third. I'm so anxious.

dory0 · 22/08/2023 06:54

Wishing you all the luck for your scan today @FingersCrossedXXX so hope it is good news for you x

Cinderz123 · 22/08/2023 06:58

Good morning all well I slept awful last night might be down to my late afternoon nap!! However when I was asleep I had the most bizarre vivid dream where my baby had 2 dad's!!! 🙄 dna from 1 had somehow infected my baby I woke up in a right sweat lol xx

@FingersCrossedXXX good luck with ur scan today 🙏🙏

sugarplum33 · 22/08/2023 07:02

@FingersCrossedXXX Hope today goes well!

@Cinderz123 That's funny, so random!

theodora2146 · 22/08/2023 07:27

Morning all!

Anyone else suffering with insomnia? I'm 5+1 and I'm pretty tired all day and then come bedtime I can't get to sleep, then wake up in the night and can't get back to sleep.

Then when my alarm goes off I don't want to get up 😅

sugarplum33 · 22/08/2023 07:41

@theodora2146 Yep I am and I know a few others on the thread are suffering with insomnia too. It was my first symptom in my first pregnancy and popped up pretty quickly this time too! Weirdly my husband has been the same ever since I got a BFP so he's obviously caught sympathy insomnia haha.

hopefulmum46 · 22/08/2023 07:58

@theodora2146 I can definitely relate to this, although in my case it's not all directly pregnancy-related. Cat decided to start walking all over us, purring and kneading at 4am all over the weekend and then last night for some reason the dog woke up barking at 2am!!! Think they might be trying to prepare us for what's to come but we'd rather enjoy the sleep while we can lol!

sugarplum33 · 22/08/2023 08:09

@hopefulmum46 I'm finding even if I'm not waking up myself, anything that wakes me up in the night means I'm absolutely wide awake. Normally I'm quite good at sorting DD out in the night and going back to sleep but no chance at the moment. Thankfully the cat hasn't started up at the same time. Never work (live?!) with children or animals!

Janeykat · 22/08/2023 08:11

@theodora2146 Im also 5+1 today and exhausted😴😴😴
It seems to be especially bad around 2pm, I just get hit with this wave of it, yesterday I seriously considered going out to my car to nap at work😅
I can get to sleep at night fine but if I wake I just cant get back to sleep.
I suppose its our bodies way of telling us to rest up, hope we all get some more energy soon🤞🤞

wiedehopf · 22/08/2023 09:22

@theodora2146 I've kind of had this for the last two nights! Falling asleep is fine (so far ahh 🤞🏻), but then I wake up at night and just can't get back to sleep. Why would our bodies to that to us?? I guess when I feel nauseous during the day I am then also tired enough that I can more easily nap the nausea away 😅

ThelastRolo20 · 22/08/2023 10:32

Hey! Can I join? Current EDD of 28th April so a bit behind everyone else :)

Bugdem123 · 22/08/2023 12:11

I'm "glad" to see other people say they aren't feeling much in the way of symptoms or have them fluctuate. I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and other than tiredness and tender boobs I don't feel any different. Did another test yesterday and got a dye stealer but can't help but worry about what's going on in there.

@Bertiebean it might do you some good to tell someone for a bit of support? I've told my closest friend and my parents as I know if anything was to go wrong I'd be seeking their support anyway so I felt it was okay to tell them early.

Lbw1292 · 22/08/2023 12:51

@Bugdem123 I’m the same! My boobs are big but they aren’t tender at all.. I just have a bit of all day nausea and occasional cramps. I feel like you and I am still testing daily. Waiting on contact from my maternity care xx

NinaGeiger · 22/08/2023 13:03

@Poppins2016 what were the books about stopping breastfeeding?
I have a 2 year old who I want to stop with soon but she loves it just before bed

sugarplum33 · 22/08/2023 13:06

@Bugdem123 @Lbw1292 I'm the same. My boobs are quite tender and there's the sleep issues but I don't 'feel' pregnant at all. I did a test yesterday and it was so much darker than all of the others which was reassuring but it's just a weird stage not feeling any different really.

CinderRosie · 22/08/2023 13:29

I’m stressing today as well - I’m sure my boobs hurt more yesterday but today they hurt less I keep prodding them to see if they hurt. Also getting some twingey little sensations in my abdomen and also in my hip, which is making me panic it is ectopic. 5 weeks 3 days today… praying we make it to our 8 week scan on the 10th and that things look ok.

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 22/08/2023 13:39

@CinderRosie symptoms can fluctuate from day to day and from morning to night. Mine weren't too bad yesterday morning but were awful by bedtime and somewhere in between today.

Also twinges and cramps can be super normal in early pregnancy, it's the hormones as well as everything stretching and adjusting to prepare to accommodate the growing bean. You also become more susceptible to trapped gas and GI issues (like constipation), so some of the cramping can just be bowel/wind related.

It's really hard not to worry, but unless you have bleeding and pain there shouldn't be much cause for concern.
